I reserved an economy car a couple weeks ago in advance. Showed up and my reserved car wasn't there. The associate said she didn't know when or if it would even become available. So she had to charge me for a larger vehicle which was the only one Advantage had- a Yukon XL (When I walked out to the lot, I saw more cars). My booking was originally $50. I got upsold to $250 if I wanted to leave the airport. I understand that customers may not return cars on time and cause a situation for the next renter. But Advantage needs to find a way to manage the customer's expectations in advance of arrival if their fleet is missing.

The service was ok and the car was in decent condition. I would be a little careful not to accept any upgrades or extras like the toll pass if you don’t think you’ll need it. Because you don’t. I really wish I had kept my original reservation and looked at the reviews before coming here. Feeling rushed and the employee sneaking in extra fees....and also seeing that no one is really being helped? I see responses from the company asking to review them again or call customer service...but I highly doubt anyone got their money back

First time using and great for the price. Staff was also very nice. We were expected to warm up and scrape off the snow and ice from our vehicle which slowed things a bit when it came to getting out of there and reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. Overall it was a good experience (including drop off), would consider renting from again, and the price was unbeatable!

The car rental was good, the price of the rental acceptable, that's why I chose Advantage. However, I left my jacket in the back seat when I turned in the car at the Phoenix airport car rental location. My jacket has zippered pockets. In one pocket was a USB plug adapter and in the other zipped up pocket was my iPod and headphones. I placed a lost item report - specifically stating the description of the jacket and the items in the zipped up pockets. The jacket was located and I paid an over-priced cost to have the jacket returned - which I was willing to do because I wanted to get my iPod back. When the jacket arrived at my home in one zipped up pocket was the USB adapter but the iPod and headphones had been STOLEN. How do I know they were stolen? Because the pockets were zipped up. Someone had to unzip the pocket to take the item! I will not ever rent from Advantage again - unless they choose to make this right and find my iPod or replace it! Rented at Sacramento Airport. The checkout process took over 45 minutes because of their antiquated computer system. The car was a Prius, which I had never driven before. I did not like it. It took me about 10 minutes to figure out how to “start” it. This car is not like other cars and requires some learning just to make it move. Why would Advantage/EZ have cars that are not simple? I hated it, but I persevered. When I checked the car in there was nobody in the lot. Fill out the form and drop the keys in the box. I’m glad I didn’t need to review any issues with an Advantage/EZ representative. Poor service and a confusing car = no return customer. The only positive was the low price.

Waiting on the Advantage shuttle at DEN, and I’ve counted at least 3 shuttles each from every other rental car company... still waiting. Finally got to the lot and I’m now joining a line already 30 people deep to rent a car. Only 3 agents to work with this group. Saved a few dollars renting with these guys... NEVER AGAIN!

SCAMMERS! DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! They don’t even deserve 1 star. We waited in line for over an hour, when it was finally our turn Kenny gave us an “upgrade” (really they were just behind on cleaning cars) that we did NOT ask for & they made us pay 3 times what we were quoted. They charged us OVER $2,000 when we wanted to change cards, which multiple agents said we could do. Every time I spoke to someone new, they lied. I finally caught them in their lie when I replayed their recording. Everyone here is a JOKE - even the manager who was too scared to come out and talk to us. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM OR BE FOOLED BY THEIR “LOW” PRICES. Phoenix Airport should be ashamed to have this rental car company here!!!!

After a long trip. I had a reservation here. They had a $200 deposit for a $90 rental. So I gave them my card as soon as I put it in the card reader my card got blocked for fraud. I was told by my bank not to go through that company again because my card will continue to get blocked.

We waited in line for over an hour and 15 minutes in your less than comfortable office, complete with your beautifully decorated waiting room (sarcasm) with broken plastic chairs, When we finally reached the front of the roped off waiting line, I entered in to the arena of 3 less than enthusiastic employees. I do not remember the name of the individual I dealt with (I'm sure you have the paperwork on the individual). By the time I traveled all day, waited in line for over an hour, the last thing I wanted was to hear about upgrades. I handed him our print out and told the agent that this is what we wanted. Just give me the keys so I can get to my hotel. He continued on about how I needed to pay for the "toll booth" device to save on toll charges. There are none in the area, and it would have been an additional $70. I told him not to nickel and dime me, I didn't want any extras. Not trying to be rude, just wanted my car and to get out of there. He low-talked the rest of the time and I couldn't make out most of what he said. He did end his dialogue with a "be nicer to the rest of the people you meet here in Colorado". Never again will I rent from this sub-par company!

This place is a Scam!! The customer service agent seemed friendly, all the while taking advantage. They charged me 200 extra what I had already paid. On top of that, don’t bother calling customer service because their exact words are “ you signed the agreement, we can’t help you “ When I initially asked the service agent why my charges were nearly 400 , she said 200 of that would be refunded and was my deposit. I Specifically told her I didn’t want the insurance AND they charged me for it anyway. Her name was Meagan. The car was in horrible shape, they upgraded me to a large SUV even though my reservation was for a small one. I told her I didn’t wAnt a bigger one and she told me it was all they had. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE, it’s a SCAM, Their name fits them perfectly, ADVANTAGE! Because they take ADVANTAGE. I rent cars weekly because I travel for business and NEVER have a experienced such a deceitful company.

This was my first time renting with Advantage and I can't say enough about what a great experience it was. The process was fast, the agent was very courteous and efficient and the rental price was the lowest of any of the other angencies I checked. Advantage is my new favorite car rental agency.

Booked thru Orbitz. After hours kiosk was in garage with NO signage to locate it and it was around the back corner and took over 10 minutes to find. Then waited over an hour for the one attendant to start the reservation over bc there was nothing in the system. She had to open the gate, take reservations, and help with vehicle check process. Very manual process. Then they wouldn't take my husband's card for the reservation I booked, even though I put his card and information in Orbitz to book the car. Had to pay the rental and a $200 deposit for having to use a debit card. Worst rental ever. THERE IS NO ADVANTAGE TO ADVANTAGE RENT A CAR

The prices are the lowest that I've been able to find when renting a car at Sky Harbor airport. They always have discount codes online. But if you rent the cheapest car, you can end up with a really nice one or a car that makes a lot of noise (which I was told is "normal" for that car....) and has difficulty accelerating. I've gotten both. The staff is usually nice and the wait time varies. I've been first in line and I've had to wait 10-15 minutes. I usually reserve my car ahead of time and the price matches what I was quoted (I print it out and take it with me). I definitely recommend them.

Excellent rates compared to competition. Helpful, friendly rental agents - no upscale pressure at all. Nice, newer vehicles. Negatives: Long wait to pick up the vehicle - location was very busy at 2 AM with only 2 rental agents working. Airport shuttles do not run as frequently as competitors- had to wait about 25 minutes for shuttle back to airport after return. Although our vehicle was clean at pick up, it had obviously been smoked in by the previous renter as the air conditioning reeked of smoke.

My first experience with advantage and it’s the worst. First the wait for the shuttle bus to the rental is very long. When I got to the wait area, there were already a lot of people waiting there. We saw many shuttle bus from other companies just passing, it’s like 15 mins wait for the shuttle. When I got there, the line is very long and slow, around 20 people waiting in the line. Second, the charges are uncleared and misleading. I feel pushed for lots of charges. I reserved through Expedia for compact car or larger. I was told they were out of compact car and they offered me a mini van. I travel along and obviously don’t need a mini van. My understanding for compact or larger car is maybe a midsize or full size car, definitely not a mini van. I said I can’t drive a mini van and it will be difficult to park. The employee there offered me a full size car- KIA and said I’m going to charge you for a prepaid fuel for around 40 dollars, because we don’t have compact car and it’s a upgrade. So I’m paying 40 dollars more for the rental car otherwise I will get a mini van. The employee make it sounds like I’m getting an upgrade for free. The fuel price it’s around 2.5 per gallon on the higher range, and they charged 40 for a full tank of gas? I also specifically told the employee I have comprehend coverage on my own insurance, however I was charged for liability insurance for 16 daily, and around 50 for 3 days. They also charged 10 daily for tolls fee. I also specifically told they I’m only going out of the city for one day. I was rushed to sign their agreement, and later I did more research online and ask friends about it. I shouldn’t be charged for there charges. I called the customer services and their answer is you need to go the counter if you want a refund and it’s depend on their decision. Then, what’s the point for having a customer service line? The worst experience I ever have.

If I could give zero stars I would. DO NOT rent from this grease trap. My wife and I had a reservation a month in advance. We were quoted estimated $240 after taxes and fees. I understand this is just an estimate. After arriving, we waited almost an hour just to get to the desk. Once we finally got there and checked in, we were told the only car they had available was a diesel Jetta. More in gas, but whatever. We were then offered the "optional" insurance. Which we declined. We've rented before. We'll take our chances. Our representative Jason urged us to at least get the basic coverage. We declined again. So he prints us a final estimate, which includes taxes and fees, a 200 dollar deposit, and a 25 dollar a day declined insurance fee. Sorry what? Why can I not assume risk and drive away with my original quote? After it was all said and done, they wanted to charge us 650+ dollars to rent a car. We might be young and dumb, but we are not getting nickle and dimed. Went over to Alamo next door without a reservation and were able to pay 300 with no deposit and get a bigger, nicer, non diesel car. So, again, don't fall for the low rental sticker price. DON'T rent from advantage. Bad business practices, super shady.

Long slow lines at pickup. Very few people working the counters and checking people in. The line is at least 21 costumers long and only 3 people at the counter. And it takes at least 10min per costumer. Do the math.

Never reserving a car from this company again. They didn't have the car I reserved and insisted I take a minivan, which would not be great for my trip. They had other cars but said they would charge me extra. I asked the agent to speak with a manager about waiving the extra charge (this is what they do at Enterprise for you) and instead he handed me my ID back told me to take my business somewhere else. Rude! Complete opposite of what good customer service is. I walked next door to Dollar Rent a car and got the exact car I wanted for less, with great customer service. Screw these guys!

Had a great experience with the Advantage car rental at the phx airport! I reserved though Priceline but I didn't to pick up early and Priceline wouldn't allow that. I went down to the rental counter and the clerk there was very helpful and easy to talk to. He made it work and I didn't have to pay much extra. I will definitely book direct thought Advantage next time.

You can't beat their prices. I showed up and they had a car ready for me. Didn't try to push any of the insurance or optional junk on me. They had upgraded me to the next size up which was kind of a bummer because I wanted better mileage but whatever, still well worth the savings over the other companies. The car had a faint smoke smell from the last person probably smoking in it, but it wasn't bad or overwhelming. Checkout was quick and easy, and they didn't question me about any of the dents or scratches that were previously in the car. Worked great and saved me hundreds of dollars over my 2.5 week rental. Yes, it's a smaller company and you don't get the premium company perks but for me it was above and beyond worth the hundreds of dollars saved. That's the reason most people would go with this company in the first place and that is what I did. It was risky, given all the bad reviews, but I would do it again in a heartbeat and was much happier saving a bunch of money and sacrificing a bigger car (slightly less mpg then what I wanted) and a faint smell of cigarettes. Took a shot on them and they worked out great. You want a perfect company, pay two to three times more, you want to save money and get a car that works and not have a ton of hassle, go with them!

Although I had a reservation they apparently didn't have a car only SUV's. I told them my quoted price and they disregarded it and made me pay more and took an extra $200 as a "deposit". Apparently they aren't allowed to split payment for their hidden rule and demanded I inconvenience myself for them or don't get a car at all. When I went to get the large suv I didn't want, I seen multiple sedans available. When I asked the whispering lady at the counter with horrible service if I could switch out, she said no because those cars are assigned to reservations, like the one that I made over a month ago that they didn't honor. Service was poor, no one explained anything, and when told I wasn't informed of policies at time of reservation, I was then told "oh well" and STILL left with no explanation of anything. Terrible service. I dread going back to drop off the car.

When we arrived, the line was very long, and I couldn't figure out why everyone was taking so long to get their cars. After over 30 minutes in line, it was finally my turn and I understood why everyone had taken so long. Despite an online reservation, our attendant up-sold HARD. I said no repeatedly, my partner said no. Finally, our attendant cut us a deal which seemed reasonable, and I was already tired of saying no. I misunderstood the deal and agreed, but it more than doubled the price! At this point I was desperate and just wanted to get out of there. Their strategy worked perfectly. The car we got was good though. It was clean and ran well, so at least that was nice. The return process was super easy too, which I appreciated when trying to catch a flight. The next car I rent will not be through this company. Unless you are a good negotiator and are great at saying no over and over, do yourself a favor and stay away!

Prior to booking, I called Advantage and spoke with a representative. I asked her to explain to me all of the charges that would be added on to the initial price so I could have an accurate estimate of what to pay. She told me that I would pay a total of $375 which would include the rental, service fees, and the young driver fee I would have to pay. I asked her if there were ANY other charges because I needed to know the total amount, and she told me there wouldn't be. When I went to pick up my car, the total with the deposit included was $900. I was told that because I was under 25, I would also need to purchase their insurance although mine already covered it. The lady I spoke with did not tell me about this charge, and it added roughly $150 to my charge. The person I spoke with advantage also added on a $70 toll pass which he said I would definitely need. I told him that I did not want the toll pass, and I would be able to avoid tolls. He said it would be difficult, however I did not pass a single toll during my whole trip. I would have booked with Hertz had I known all the charges, because I would not have had to pay their young driver fee or insurance because of AAA. Very disappointed with this experience, and I feel ripped off because the price I actually paid was much higher than what I was quoted.

Quick shuttle, no line, friendly counter service. The vehicle was wrecked on rear and panel gone on right side. Interior filthy. Glad I checked or perhaps they would have charged me! I didn’t care about poor quality vehicle but why do they charge full price?

I rented a car online about a week before my 5 am flight from Houston to Denver. I opted for the manager's special which was advertised as "larger than economy or at least a Standard sized vehicle". The price was reasonable and I was comfortable with the thought of mountain driving with a mid sized or larger vehicle. Upon arrival I was told that we were assigned a Yaris! NO WAY larger than an economy car. Seeing my dismay, the lady at the desk urged me to shell out another $200 to upgrade to a Sante Fe. The Santa Fe was nice, but I am not happy with the extra expenditure when I bought, in good faith, a larger vehicle than I was offered. The lady said that that was the Manager's choice for me..... what a crock.... I advise you to look elsewhere.

We rented a car a couple weeks ago after flying into Denver. The check-out clerk was nice but hard to understand. I thought I was declining any extra coverage because that’s what I told the clerk I wanted to do. I had to sign a few places on a small screen after the clerk scrolled through all the explanations. I guess it’s my fault for not reading the paragraphs of information and simply verbally declining extra coverages to the clerk and following his instructions of what to sign. Fast forward to today when I find an additional charge to my credit card of $135.40. I called customer service to fully explain the situation. The first guy said I signed an agreement - true - but I was misled and not given a chance to read what I signed. I asked for a supervisor, and after being on the phone for over half an hour I finally agreed to a 50% refund.

Some of the worst service I have ever had. The full size car I rented was not available, so they gave me another, but intentionally failed to mention it was a huge up charge. The vehicle I was in stunk really bad, it had bald tires, and wasn’t even close to new/newer. Also it had damage to the passenger door. Update: The customer service was good however, and refunded the up charge.

Staff was great! I accidentally booked my rental a day later than when I needed it. Derose went the extra mile to get me the car a day earlier than my reservation. No problems at all with the car, drove like a dream, dropping back off to the rental took less than five minutes. Shuttle drivers both to and from the rental office were super kind and helpful.

Stay clear of this place. I paid way more than what was quoted to me. After calling customer service, I found out a new policy than what was told to me at the counter. If you want a stress free experience go somewhere else and actually save money. Run. Run far away

Nope. They rent out 5-6 year old cars. My experience was absolutely awful with the Jetta they gave me. Never again. I rent a car every week for work and advantages cheap rates aren't worth the time spent in line and anxiety I feel from ill maintained vehicles. Hertz is 100% worth the extra cost.

The line was long, but there were five people at the counter and the line moved pretty quickly. I got an upgrade I think, and the SUV was almost brand new. The return process was very fast. Overall an excellent value compared to what else was available.

Arrived early morning at PHX, so no wait. Agent sold me on the company gas fill up on return. $2.12 a gallon. Who wouldn't turn that down? Turns out that after returning car with only using about a quarter tank, I was charged for the whole full tank fill up. So, I ended up paying about $5.50 gal! If agent had explained to me to bring the car back empty, I would've known that I wouldn't have been using an entire tank and would've refused that service. Bummer! Ok, now the story of the picking up the car. I went downstairs to get the car. After opening the door, I was treated to the fragrance of some strong stink weed. I ordinarily wouldn't care about this except I can imagine what I would go through if I had been pulled over by law enforcement. So, I asked for another car. The next car had the same problem, but not as bad. So I accepted and went on my way. Then upon returning the car I was in shock when they presented the total cost of the rental. It was nearly double to what I had reserved the car for. I went to the kiosk downstairs to speak with the agent there about the discrepancy in cost. He told me that when I changed cars that the fuel service hadn't been transferred to the next car. He told me that I could take the car back and go to a gas station nearby and fill it up. This would rectify the in house fueling cost. Yeah sure, I have to catch a flight and don't have the time to go out and find a gas station. He reduced the fee by $20 but I still paid $40 more than the reserved price. Needless to say, this was a horrible experience that I will never have again, because I won't ever do business with Advantage again.

The first car we got was missing a hubcap & had no working interior light. The second car they gave us had low tire pressure. The third car was fine until we discovered later there was windshield wiper fluid. We bought some ourselves but when we put it in, it would only take a little (1/4 cup). After many tries there was still no working windshield washer fluid. If you want a complete checked out car, don’t rent here.

Slowest and longest line. Expect 30-40 minutes waiting on a fast day, longer on a slow day. When I got down to where they hand you the keys the guy at the desk clearly didn't want to be there and just pointed me to the car and didn't tell me that I had to fill out the inspection form by myself. I came back and asked what to do and he said fill it out but then didn't tell me that there was one in the car already and no pen so I had to walk back a third time. This whole process took me a little over an hour. Ridiculous. No respect for your time. The last thing you want after a long flight is to speed an hour trying to pick up the rental.

Horrible experience. When I arrive to pick up the rental car, they look at me like in stupid...we had a reservation and the desk upstairs was closed. So I showed them the reservation number and they pull it up. I asked for a mid sized SUV and got a station wagon...then they wanted a $200.00 deposit after I already paid then $900.00+ for 5 days! I will never rent from this company again. HERTZ DID A BETTER JOB AND LESS EXPENSIVE!!!!!

I faced a very bad experience here. I booked my car through Priceline, and in that it shows unlimited mileage. When I visit Advantage, they said 250 miles limited per day. When I shows the Priceline booking information. His talking very rude, go and talk to price line not with us.

Careful! The customer service reps are skillful scam artists and will do whatever it takes to talk you into paying more. That includes being deceptive. In my case I was lured in with a promise of "amount you pay, $101." The final bill was $346. Look for an honest vendor.

I've used Advantage 4 times, twice each in Denver and Phoenix. Once in Denver my wait time (in line) was 50 minutes. Wait times were short the other 3 times. Prices are excellent. I got an incredible bargain in Phoenix in June, 2018 - $138 for a 'Full Size' for a week.

My family (of 4 including an infant), arrived in Denver due to a catastrophic weather event and the rental agent and location manager attempted to strong arm me into upgrading into a vehicle that was listed as the same class as my reservation. After an hour of going back and forth I was forced to cancel my reservation and go to another location. *Keep in mind this trip was forced due to the catastrophe, so funds were limited.

When two of the other rental car companies were too expensive, I checked Advantage. I paid in Advance for a 5 day rental, for a compact car, at a much lower rate than the other companies. When I arrived to pick up my rental, I was upgraded, at no extra cost, with a new Subaru Outback, that only had 92 miles on it. It has been very nice to drive around the Sacramento area and is great on gasoline.

I find reviews to be hard to analyze. Advantage seems to be a budget value car rental company. I have rented with 5 different rental companies because every city does not have one specific company. I love Avis and Hertz for their newer cars and allowing me to go directly to my car. National has a similar system where you go down an aisle of cars. Enterprise and Advantage are counter only companies. They like to sell you the larger car, the prepaid gas option or the toll tag or extra insurance on the car. Some people really need these extra coverages but many have insurance and just want their car to continue on their vacation or business trip. Advantage is not business friendly yet. The shuttle does pick you up but not as frequently as other companies. Then you are dropped off and another line forms. It is complete with the mandatory do not pass line in the front. I have been on a line and waited 90 minutes just to get to the counter!! They have a $200 deposit on top of the full rental price and you need a credit card with sufficient credit to cover it. Inevitably, after getting the prepaid gas option, extra insurance or other options, the customer in front of you is totally embarrassed to see their vacation stop before it started. The representatives are very calm and I have seen a range from the excellent to the domineering. Advantage offers the most competitive rates and have excellent cars. You may have to wait for your car but kiosks are coming out to expedite your rental. It is extremely frustrating to wait as a business traveler. They have an excellent small business corporate account which offers good competitive rates. But most of the time, you can get a great rate with them. They offer a pit stop reward which allows you to fill up at $.25 less than going rate. It is better than the prepaid rate when you donate half a tank of gas to the company. Returning the car is easy squeeze!! I can have an emailed bill before I get to the terminal. The system to get you back to the airport is excellent. But you have to be patient and overlook their frugal surroundings but you will get a good car at a great rate..

Booked our trip with Presidents Choice Travel which was a mistake. We asked to add a driver when booking they told us we would have to do it when we picked up our car. Waited in line for at least a half hour to find out they didn't have a Camry which we booked with PC. And asked to add the driver we got told we could get a two for one deal. Ha con artists! They had no car for us! Tried to give us a gas guzzling 4x4 Toyota 4 Runner. When we found out how big it was we had to go back up stairs,again and tell them it was too big then told us all the had was a Caravan, we told them no. After refusing this they told us they had nothing left but a Ford Titanium. By this time we had wasted over 2 hrs of our Arizona holiday. We settled for this SUV and ended up being over charged because Advantage didn't have the car we reserved. We agreed to $331.05 for a Camry and fee of $274 89 US was to be paid on arrival.Gas was to be included in this. DONT LET THEM CHARGE YOU FOR GAS! Read the 60 page agreement they also tried to charge us another $300plus for insurance. Rip off!! I ended up being charged an extra $443.50 for a car I didn't want. Thanks Advantage for the awful start to our holiday in Arizona. NEVER AGAIN PC TRAVEL OR ADVANTAGE RENT A CAR

I had made a reservation a week and a half before my departure. Everything had been paid for, taken out of my account, all confirmations we're given., Thinking everything will go smoothly. When I went to pick up my vehicle, I noticed the woman in front of me was having some issues with communicating correctly with the gentleman at the desk. I thought to myself, it's probably just a bad customer, I'm giving the sales guy the benefit of the doubt. Wow, I was wrong. This man continued on his lack of communication. I treated the man with respect, while he just gave me short answers, basically blowing me off. He stated he needed a credit card. I informed the gentleman, the vehicle has been paid for, and they can use my debit card to place on file. He then asked where did you even rent from, in a disgusted voice. I had provided the screenshot from my device to show everything was completely completely. He stated, he needed to just call and see if I'm lucky, I'll get a refund. At the end of it, I was never released a vehicle, just drove 55 miles to miss my trip. Now I am set back on time, and majorly rushing to complete my task. I highly recommend this company re-evaluates their customer service agents at this facility. They had no sense of urgency or compassion.

This was actually a great experience! We were upgraded to a Hyundai Santa Fe at no charge and it really made all the difference for our trip! The car was great. There was a misunderstanding about additional coverages and the manager promptly straightened it out! Overall, just understand the process and what you are signing on the dotted line for and you will have a great experience!

Lined up out the door. Agent there said the people washing cars are too slow so there is no cars in the system to rent. Not what you want to tell a line up of tired people. An hour and 20 min later got a car. Ya it was dirty but it was wet so the people washing the cars may have been the problem. Chip in widsheild was missed as I was told they fix them before sending them out. Good thing was on my inspection form as well as all the photos that I took. Car ran fine and really had no other issues.

Do not reccomend. I could rant but I'll provide info. 1. Your car is made ready when you check in not at the time your RSVP it for. They may not have a car at all so you may have to wait. If you order online you can only refund online like with Priceline not them. The 200 deposit is extra paid at the desk not online with only a credit card owned by the person that ordered the car (so no paying for kids to rent a car). Also even after getting van by contract they didnt have it in the lot and had to redo the contract. Do not use this place.

The rental sales agent tricked me to buy the EZ pass although I told her I am not leaving the town, she lied about the presence of an expensive toll inside the town which was not present. I know I should have checked google maps before buying it but didn't have time and I trusted the agent. She also tried to have me rent an SUV with a higher price claiming there are no compact cars available at the moment, however, after I refused to pay more, it turned out they had compact cars available!!

On two occasions in two different cities I received the same terrible service. First occasion was in Boston, MA (Logan). I spent an hour in line only to find out that you did not have cars available at the time of rental. I patiently waited an hour and then had to wait in line again to get a car. Later I was told I didn't have to wait again but I was not told that the first time. After a received a car (2 hours after arriving at the counter), the car interior was dirty with trash still in the vehicle and low tire pressure light was on. The fuel gauge was not at full even though the check out slip indicated it was. I thought this was an isolated incident but apparently not. I rented again with Advantage in Sacramento, CA and again there were no cars available upon arrival. I was told it would not be long for a car. Other customers inline were apparently told it would be 1 to 2 hours for a vehicle. This is completely unacceptable and I will never be renting with Advantage again. I have made it a point to tell friends, coworkers, and random strangers not to rent with you either. I don't really engage in social media but I've found an exception in alerting others to your poor customer service.

Advantage Rent A Car left me stranded in the mountains! We rented a car in Denver for our mountain vacation. We got a flat (rock lodged in tire), and Advantage told us that they do not cover tires. My AAA only put on the spare donut tire, but no way would we be able to drive down the mountain and interstate on the spare. Advantage told me that I would have to buy my own tire. FYI-tire supplies/shops are very limited in the mountains. I finally found a tire shop that had the needed size, and purchased myself to be able to drive back to Denver. Thanks for leaving a mom and her two kids stranded. Never again. I sent an email to the Customer service email listed below three days ago and have not heard back. I can see where I may had to pay for the damaged tire (although the mechanic told me that the tire tread was so old and worn that I should have never been driving on it). I purchased a brand new tire to replace the very worn Advantage tire. The least they could have done was to pro-rate the difference (i.e. brand new tire vs value of very worn and used tire that was on the car). I also CANNOT believe that they expected the customer to be responsible for finding/obtaining a new tire without any assistance. I am in an unfamiliar area, as many rental car customers would be. Advantage did not offer to help me one bit. It would have been nice if they could have helped me locate and/or help set up a new tire delivery to my area so that I would be able to SAFELY drive down the mountain to be able to return the car.

Waited 2 hours standing in line to get to the desk, 45 minutes of it was outside. Then finally get up to desk and the guy just trys to trick you into buying upgrades by acting like hes doing you a favor. Telling me i can get a bigger car, and get the "basic" insurance, and telling me i could return the car with an empty tank of gas. Then swipes your card and hands you a receipt without telling you everything will cost extra. Drop off was actually good. Then 2 weeks later they charge my card again probably hoping i wouldn't notice. Would never go here again and would never recommend to anyone

I had no issues with my Advantage or the car rental! I will say the lights at the rental place were a little dark. So maybe turn on or add a few more to make it more welcoming. The car was a little beat up, but customer service was great, I documented the scratches on the car and had no issues on the return. I would use them again as they were the cheapest option for a last minute decision to rent a car.

I had a great experience with Advantage. The only negative was the long wait in the lobby. There weren't enough staff to effectively move through the 15 or so people in line, leading to about a 1hr wait in the lobby before being seen. Maybe a self service kiosk or two would help. Beyond that, I had a great experience. The car was almost brand new (less than 3000 miles) and the staff was very friendly and helpful!

LIARS & SCAMMERS. Made a reservation for a rental car in Denver (Advantage) for a funeral trip. After waiting in line for an hour with only 3 agents helping a mass of people, the rental agent, "Aric," offered us a Yukon XL in place of the Camry we reserved. He said it was because we had waited in line for an hour and we were in Denver for a funeral. He said, "I'm going to give you guys a Yukon and free gas as well." We asked repeatedly if this would change the price because we didn't want to pay any extra. He told us to return the vehicle empty. He assured us more than once that this was just his gift to us and there would be no extra cost. He also added an additional driver also at no cost, so he said. The Yukon reeked of cigarette smoke and was very dirty but after waiting in line so long we just bought Febreeze and dealt with it ourselves. Aric made sure to ask us for a nice survey and recommendation when we got home as well. Our reservation was for $125.95 but we were charged $438.54!! Now wasting time fighting this. Unbelievable.

If I could give zero stars, I would. First off, the original car we got was COVERED in scratches, chips and dents. They did give us a new car after, but we had to complain to get it. Secondly, they’re dishonest about what’s mandatory when renting the car. When I told them we had USAA and they covered rentals and roadside assistance, the worker at Advantage told me that it was mandatory to purchase both services which is close to $250. When we left I called the company’s customer service and they confirmed that it is not mandatory. Turns out that customer service can not refund the money that the store dishonestly took from us, we had to physically drive over an hour to go there and get it back. When we got there the line was wrapped around the building, it’s going to take HOURS to get the money back. To make it all better, the price online was $539 (including taxes and fees).... we left paying $1,100. The additional taxes and fees are absolutely outrageous. I don’t recommend this place to anybody.

We wanted a good-handling car for a northern California coastal vacation in the Bodega Bay area so they gave us a Mazda 6, which was PERFECT for the driving we did not only for the handling and performance, but for great gas mileage. The staff was helpful and friendly enough at the office, but then they went way above and beyond renting a car. I had left an unusually shaped rock in the car that I had acquired on our trip; it had slipped under the passenger. I was heartbroken the next day when I unpacked and discovered that it wasn't among our belongings, but figured that it would probably have been thrown out by now. But I got up the next day and someone had left it on our doorstep! WHO DOES THAT?!??!?! Thank you Advantage Rent A Car staff for an amazing trip and for your thoughtfulness; it made my cry.

Watch out for the scam ! I was in a hurry to go to wedding rehearsal dinner. representative says I'm going to upgrade you to an SUV because I had a compact. I said is there extra charges,he says no, so ok. But it wasn't an upgrade in the type of vehicle it was just a bigger vehicle and probably older. then he says we got a fuel deal for $28 we get really good deal can you just drive until that thing is as empty as you can get it and we'll take care of it and he's talking the whole time I'm going to sign papers to distract you and ends up giving me this SUV that seats 10 people which is a tank which I thought well maybe all of us could go ride around but then a couple of couldn't show up so it's just two of us in this thing. then I look at the paperwork and it's $68 for the fuel!!! also be sure to check your vehicle for scratches and stuff. When I went to leave the guy says do you want to fill this out or just wing it. I said I'm filling it out and there was a long scratch and several areas on the vehicle and it was raining so I accidentally marked two things on the post return area so I'm stating that now as a fact as I will be returning it Monday and I have my paperwork. I'm so tired of dealing with salesman that want to rip you off!!

Unfortunately, I experienced a severe lack of communication and almost-scam-like attitude from this company. They failed to notify me about having to pay for a toll pass up front, then gave me a car with a toll pass included on the windshield. Weeks after returning my rental, a $95 charge showed up on my card. Advantage claimed it was due to a toll violation, which was never explained to me at the time of rental. No matter who I called, they refused to understand my situation and refused to give me my money back. This round-about way of taking money from customers is shady to say the least. DO NOT work with this company because they are vague, unreasonable, and completely unprofessional.

Our flight arrived early into Sacramento airport. Took the shuttle to the rental location. Checked in to pick-up our rental. I was told my car class wasn't available at the moment, but we could offer you a much bigger class car for an extra charge. WTH! Why am I having to wait for a return? Why isn't there another vehicle here? Why aren't you offering me whats available now? Worst experience ever! So now I have to wait for my reservation time. Do not rent from these guy's, most car rental companies would have more than one vehicle to turn around. STAY AWAY!

We reserved a midsize car - the agent said my husband's golf clubs would not fit, but we could get an upgrade for $50. She DID NOT say $50 PER DAY! Then she told us we should prepay the toll road fee of $49.99 as we would be driving thru toll roads on our way to Colorado Springs. We prepaid, but in 5 days never drove thru any toll roads. I was completely scammed at the front desk when picking up my car. I had originally rented a Camry for $45. Asmeron was the name of the agent that checked me in and said that we are lucky and they just had a full-size upgrade deal that came available for $65. There were only two of us and we really didn’t need the upgrade but I thought for the extra $20 why not. I even confirmed at the front desk that the upgrade would only cost $20. Not only was the piccolo standard where the automatic headlights did not work. But upon getting the receipt I saw that the upgrade itself was $65 on top of the $45 original Camry fee. It was a complete scam. I will be contacting Expedia in an attempt to get them Eliminated off of Expedia‘s website as a vendor.

Complete ripoff. I booked online with a credit card and the total came to just over $200 Canadian for 6 days. Sounded reasonable so I booked it. Once I got to the counter there were so many add on fees and ridiculous extra taxes that the cost came to almost $350 US dollars! Classic scam. If you're going to rent a car in Phoenix, don't use Avantage and definitely take a cab to a different location to rent a car to hopefully avoid 'taxes and fees' which amount to more than 50% of the rental cost. These guys should be in jail, too bad being a greedy crook isn't illegal.

They did not have anything like the compact car I signed up for on Hotwire. I wanted a compact car for easy driving and parking, travelling alone. They didn't have a compact, or a standard, or a full-size. They would only offer me a minivan, or they would have given me an SUV and charged me more for the pleasure! They also would not reduce the price, which I think would have been reasonable under the circumstances. Another customer was in the same situation at the same time, which makes me believe that Advantage misrepresents to Hotwire what they have available. Never going with Advantage again.

SCAMMERS! When going through the line, the man, Ken, working insisted that we get insurance stating that we legally had to. We said we didn’t get it last year (while on a business trip), but he said we must have because it’s been a state law for 10 years. Fine, we got the insurance. When we went downstairs to pick up the vehicle, we asked the lady working about it. She straight up told us we were being scammed and to go back up and tell them we want our money back. When we went back, he claimed that he didn’t know we were on a business trip and that’s why he did what he did (not sure how that would matter). We asked to speak to a manager, and he told us to call the 800 number and that managers didn’t want them giving out their phone numbers. We eventually got the refund, then went back down to get our car. The lady (who saved us hundreds of dollar) said her manager had already called her and chewed her out for telling customers about it. We will NEVER be using Advantage Rent A Car in Phoenix or anywhere else ever again!

WORSE RENTAL COMPANY EVERR!!! They bait you in by the low online rates -- but by the end of the rental you be charged AT LEAST $200 more than what was quoted at the front counter. Do not waste your time. I am still fighting a battle to get my overcharges refunded back to me. I traveled last minute across country for a funeral and it is sad how they have taken advantage of me and other customers.

Charged more than Hotwire said I was going to be charged. Got to the desk and was told that I was only allowed 150 miles per day, and any overage would be at $0.55 per mile. Had to pay an extra $20/day for unlimited mileage since I am traveling to another state. When I asked to have my husband added as a driver, I was told that it would be $13 to add him. However, Hotwire stated that would only be the case if my second driver was younger than 25 years old. My husband's age far exceeds 25 years!!! My additional billing came to $292.40 (which included the $200 deposit), yet my credit card company shows that I was charged $342.01. Have no idea why I was charged an addtional $44 that I didn't sign for.

Car was beat up (dents, scratched, loose wheel case) and smelled like smoke when I got it, with a shoddy cleaning job that created a smudged windshield, scary in the Denver sunshine glare. Three days in, tire pressure light came on. My only option, exchange the car two hours away. Filled tire was low again three days later after not being driven. They charge a $200 deposit when they already have your card info - sounds like a scheme to me! And in the end, it wasn’t any cheaper than a more clean and convenient company!!

SHADY COMPANY. Do NOT rent a car from this company. They are not transparent about their charges and have terrible customer service. Don't trust the crazy low rate (which seems appealing) that you see on Priceline or other sites. THEY WILL CHARGE YOU AN EXORBINATE RATE. We filed a complaint with their customer service and never received a call back but, of course, the money grubbers responded to our dispute with the credit card company. We will never rent from them again. It is far safer to pay a little more with a trusted company.

Car had 54,000 miles, mechanical problems, and refused to do anything about it's problem. Rented it for 4 days, was afraid to drive it until I had to return it. That day I had someone follow me 90 miles back to Advantage because I didn't want to breakdown someplace alone at night. All Advantage would do was refund the taxes and fees! ($28.65) I'll never rent from them again. NOT recommended for anyone to rent there.

Advantage went over and above all expectations. My wife broke her foot a couple of days before we had to turn the car back in. We should up at the turn in location. When the man came out to get the keys he saw my wife and told her to get back in the car and he would drive us to our Airlines rather than have us take the normal shuttle. It save me a lot as I would have has to try and push my wife's wheel chair while trying to pull our luggage along too. Not an easy task for a 70 year old man to do. Advantage is now our go to car rental company. We can't say enough good things about them. Fast and efficient service. Thank You Advantage.

Made a one day rental. My flight arrived at 9 PM. They stuffed us in the rental shuttle like sardines, was sweating by the time we arrived, no big deal. What was a big deal was the literal line out the door. Someone at the front of the line said they had been waiting 2 hrs. Incompetent business that only survives due to blind third party services (Hotwire, our mistake) or due to inexperienced travelers. Pay the extra $20 and rent elsewhere. Well worth every penny.

As a frequent and experienced traveler I have never in all my years of traveling have come across a worse company than this branch of Advantage Rent a Car. The person who attended me was extremely rude. Unfortunately I cant remember her name. She was nice at first but when I didn't give in by getting upgrades that's when she became very rude. Even though I had already reserved the car about two weeks in advance she said it wasn't ready because I was late, I was about a few minutes late and that was because their was such a long line. I guess they want you to be there at the exact hour on the dot which is impossible considering the long wait in the lines. I guess it was her lunchtime since she kept complaining to her coworker that it was lunchtime and also complaining to somebody on her cellphone (while attending me). She also tried to give me a "deal", she said I can get you the car right now if you pay the $65 gas fee or wait an hour and fifteen minutes for the car to be ready. That was the icing on the cake, I couldn't believe that the car I reserved two weeks in advance would only be available if I payed an extra $65. The car that they gave me was a tiny Kia. Even if I drove it until it completely ran out of gas their was no way it needed $65 dollars to get full. Luckily I wasn't on a tight schedule so I decided to wait. She was fed up and literally told me to wait outside for 45 minutes to talk to another associate. She was really going to make me wait an extra 45 minutes because she was done with me. Their was nothing I could do, I had to wait outside because I needed the car. I waited for a bit but maybe someone told her to get me which she did with an attitude and processed all of my paperwork without acknowledging me, with her handbag on her arm just waiting to be done to go to her lunch. She was very rushed and stormed out when my paper work was completed. I have never written a review on anything but this is something that people need to hear. Looking at the owners responses to other reviews it looks like its cut and pasted, I wouldn't be surprised if I get this same response from them since its literally the same response to those that give this company one star: "Because we take your feedback seriously we are currently addressing these issues with our Management Team to make all of the necessary improvements for the convenience and enjoyment of our valued customers, such as yourself." If you really did care you would actually do something about it. Doesn't look like you will do anything since this has been going on for a while (other reviews) but this is for other travelers. Id rather pay double what I paid for for good service than ever use this company again.

Wish I could give zero stars. Arrived to the Sacramento location only to wait 20 min in line while two other customers seemed to be having problems. One customer was even on the phone with customer service seeking help and seemd completely stressed out and angry. It was finally my turn. The worker Fernando was extremely rude and unpleasant right off the bat. You could tell he didn’t want to be there and wanted to rush the transaction. He asked what card I wanted to pay with so I pulled out my visa debit card. He told me sorry but you can’t use that. I said it’s my credit card and debit. He discustingly pointed with his finger yelling with a super loud voice “it says right here mam .... (spelling it out) DEBIT” after I was completely embarrassed for him purposely making me feel dumb...I asked him why I couldn’t pay with debit? He said I need a returning flight # and of corse we didn’t have one. I asked him if he would please wait for 1-2 min while I call and transfer some money to my credit card. He said with a loud harsh voice “ YOU NEED TO MOVE OVER SO I CAN HELP THE NEXT PERSON IN LINE” I told him that if he could please give me 30 sec more all will be good and we can proceed. He rolled his eyes at me and slamming his pen down. I told him I’ve waited sooo long to even get up to the counter I’ll be done ASAP. So 15 seconds later the banker tells me okay all good to go. We move on and he then tells me ohhh since you live close to here I have to charge you if you want unlimited miles ( he lookes up at me smirking like he’s trying to make me upset) it’s was honestly the worst experience I’ve ever encountered in my life. So I tel him look I booked through hot wire and it says unlimited miles. Showed him my confirmation he looked at it for a long while didn’t find anything that said locals have limited miles. Long story short he said NOPE you have to pay $20 extra. At this point I’m in tears littler tears at the desk I was mortified. The people next to me looked over at me and canceled their reservation because of how bad I was treated. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE THEY WILL SCAM AND TREAT YOU LIKE GARBAGE JUST LIKE FERNANDO DID TO ME. Like I said it was the worse experience of my life.

First car had strong cigarette smoke odor so second car was issued and although the odor was no as strong, it still smelled of smoke. Also they try to convince you to purchase a full tank of gas in advance for the return by telling you that you have to fill the tank within six miles of the airport...don't fall for this!

Their service was putrid. My family waited at least 3 hours before we received our car. We eventually found out that they were running low on employees to turn over the vehicles fast enough in order to keep up with the customer line, but they didn't make a public announcement of it. The whole entire line was left wondering why it was going so slow! The men behind the counter were rude and impatient with our impatience. Yes, eventually we got our car, our car worked fine, and the process ran smooth after that. The only good thing that I can say about the entire situation was that after they charged me the wrong amount of money on my credit card (after I was home from this vacation), the customer service agents to whom I called, helped correct the wrong charge amount, and gave me a just price for my experience. Nevertheless, money = time and time = more than money, and I'll never get back all of the wasted time that they caused.

THEY CHARGE EXTRA BE VERY CAREFULL: I rented a car for 4 days a month before my trip when i went to get the car they said after 250 miles its 0.55 cents a mile, basically they trap people with the "its on the policy " because they know most people don.t read the tiny font ,bad looking page, so they ended up charging my card 80 dollars extra, i could not cancel my trip because i had already booked my motel, I should have gone to HEARTZ on 16 th street in midtown where they have good customer service, a nice variety of cars and also cheap,Advantage and dollar rental are some of the companies that look for tricky ways of squeezing every dollar they can from their customers. never again will i ever get a car from this company.You successfully ruined my vacation i had planned for over a year.

We reserved a fuel efficient vehicle for our trip a month ahead of time since we knew we were going to do a lot of driving. Once we got to the counter the agent said they had an suv that got almost as good of gas mileage I said we’d rather have our car we reserved but sure. He then printed a piece of paper for me to sign and when I looked it said it was $130 upgrade. I said um no you made it sound like it was the same price. I told the agent we would like to stick with the fuel efficient car we had already paid for. He proceeds to tell us they were out of cars. So he tried up selling us a vehicle because he knew they didn’t have what we reserved. He said the best he could do was upgrade us to a van for the same price which only got 21 mpg . We are super unhappy with the customer service we received and the fact we spent double on gas mileage our whole trip.

My only disappointment was that the counter agent did not make it clear that the drop off for SFO was not actually on the airport grounds. (I rented from the Sacramento airport location.) Arrived at this location and it has been an hour and we haven’t even made it to the counter. If this a Corporate location, I wonder how their owner operated locations are. People are rolling in and there are 3 counter staff to help customers. They can obviously see how many folks are renting cars, why schedule 3 people? This is last time I rent from these guys. Let’s see what kind of car I am gonna end up with. Update after getting the car: The car has already 32000 miles and passenger side of the car has been in accident with side scrapes after the front passenger door all the way to the rear fender. Given the long line and waiting from 10pm to 12:20am to get the car, decided to take picture of all Damages not to mention the rude security guy that was laughing at me while I was going around the car To mark all damages. This car should not be even in service. I am calling the corporate office and ask for refund or have them swap the car. This is embarrassing to drive a beat up car while visiting family and friends. Advantage SHAME ON YOU. !!!

I had 3 defective vehicles, filed 3 formal complaints with Advantage and 1 with Priceline. The vehicle I had for the week had a rear tire at 22 psi, the rest at 50 psi. The psi of tires for the vehicle was supposed to be 33. On mountain roads with sharp curves and steep grades, this was extremely dangerous. The car also had on the maintenance needed light and kept telling me to take it to the dealership for service. It did not need an oil change for another 1500 miles. I will warn everyone to not book with this company. I was unable to drive the vehicle during the course of my trip for fear of major problems as we were hours away from Denver. My first two vehicles had significant warning lights on and one had been hit on the back bumper which had dislodged it. Inspect any vehicle from here thoroughly before you leave the lot. Even when I did this, I still had problems. FYI, when you call the 800 number for Advantage if there’s a problem, they will only write the complaint and tell you to take it up with the rental facility.

It was slow getting in (that's normal in the rental car world I feel like), but returning it was easy and they were super helpful and reasonably priced. We initially had a smaller SUV, but for the area we were driving to, they managed to get us a bigger, more reliable, SUV for not much more. We were so glad we went with the upgrade too because of the weather and how far up the mountain we were going.

I waited in line over 2 hours. Because I had reserved the car online, they would have charged me whether I picked up the car or not. So I had no choice but to wait in that extremely long line. The agent was friendly, but told me I was required to purchase additional insurance. They stated it was an AZ state law. That should have been disclosed on the website, so I wasn’t “surprised.” That insurance cost more than the car rental. Every other state where I’ve rented I was able to use my personal car insurance to cover the rental. I don’t plan to use this company ever again.

Once we signed the contract we were told to wait outside in the heat. Waited another 20 minutes and had to ask for help from someone to bring our car around. So I flew in last minute to Sacramento International and needed a car quick. Enterprise told me that we don't do walk ins. So I went right next to the next rental company which I have never heard of or dealt with. I was actually surprised because the staff was awesome and we had some good laughs. George was awesome and hooked me up with a discount, free upgrade to a mustang, and their manager waived my $200 deposit because I simply did not have the cash. George made things happen. Also their pricing was lower compared to the competition. Their service and helpfulness towards a disabled veteran was amazing. Thank you George, I hope everything goes well for you. I’ll admit, when I first read the reviews of this place, I was horrified. However, I had already committed to a non-refundable rental so there was no turning back. Thankfully, my experience was so much better than I had imagined. The representative was friendly and not pushy when it came to all of the add-ons (which I respectfully declined). The prepaid gas charge was added on my bill upfront and wasn’t really presented as an option (even though I knew it was optional) but I kept it there anyways to save some time at the pump later. Overall, I had a great experience with my rental. No surprise charges, friendly service, and the car did the job too. The only bit-picky complaint is maybe the shuttle service. The shuttle for Advantage definitely doesn’t run as often as the other companies, but waiting 20 minutes wasn’t too horrible. Definitely recommend Advantage for its value!

The pricing is incredibly opaque. I ended up paying double what I had expected to pay. For example, the associate I worked with stated that I should not refuel the vehicle I rented and that it would be refueled at a $2.70. What I realized is that this statement was actually a question of pre-purchasing a tank of gas, which I was charged for, despite only using a quarter tank. The vehicle I was offered was also scratched on most sides, though it had it a clean interior and drove well.

I reserved a care through Priceline that landed me with Advantage, which needless to say was very disappointing. We reserved the vehicle as a local resident of Phoenix from the airport. When i arrived they proceeded to say our local rentals are have special rules. One of which is that there isn't unlimited mileage it would cost is an additional $20 per day for it. our original fee was supposed to be $271.17 was now going to be $343.54. Plus we reserved an SUV suburban to be exact they would not rent us that they would only give us a minivan. but since i had a time crunch i had to take, but not to worry it had a DVD player in it for the kids. When i got to the Mini van Pacifica it did NOT have a DVD player and was a very basic no frills mini van. We went through a couple toll roads unexpectedly and we called the toll company to pay them (because there were no toll booths to pay them) , they informed us that because it was a rental vehicle we could not pay them and check your rental car company contract. We checked it out it says it will be $50 charge for each notification plus the actual toll road charge whatever that is going to be? We went through a total of about 6 toll roads if this is the case we will get a bill of $300 additional from Advantage plus the actual toll charge. All for a mini van that i didn't want in the first place.

I continue to rent through these guys and not because service is excellent or the cars are in the most pristine condition. It's only because they are usually the cheapest. I usually land late at night and shuttle times are always a minimum wait of 20+ minutes. Well, last night I waited a whopping 45 minutes. Don't bother calling the 800 number or the "local" number because neither will connect you to anyone live. There is an option that you select if you need a pickup but lo and behold it sends you to a prerecorded message that directs you to the pickup location that you are already at. After watching Hertz and Budget shuttles drive by (and I kid you not) three times apiece, I was getting ready to take an uber to the office when finally the shuttle pulls up. Yes, they usually have the lowest prices but the waiting time for a shuttle pick up late at night is not for the faint of heart if you land late. Customer service is none existent after you make your reservations. But coupled with online coupons (with a simple Google search) the savings are sometimes worth it. If the difference is negligible go with the other rental agencies and save yourself some stress.

They gave us an up front cost, and then 2 days after we returned the car, charged us an additional $300 of hidden fees that we were unaware of we we initially rented the car. We were under the impression that the extra costs we optional, and we purposely didn’t select those options. We were told after the fact it was all in the contract and we are responsible for the total $500 plus dollars for the weekend. If you chose to rent from them, read all the fine print and be very careful before signing the paperwork.

Just returned from a trip to Denver and my experience with Advantage was perfect! I was worried after reading reviews but I have no complaints at all. After catching the airport shuttle the wait at the lot was minimal. The attendant was quick and friendly and the whole process took 10-15 minutes. There were NO surprise charges ($200 deposit which I was aware of) and she offered the gas and explained the charges honestly, which I declined. There was absolutely zero hassle and within minutes we were on our way! My car was in excellent condition and I was shocked to find out when I was returning it that it was a 2014 model as it looked brand new! Drop off was completely painless and consisted of pulling up and despite there being several cars being dropped off the very friendly attendant came and checked us out immediately. Within 5 mins we were waiting for the shuttle which arrived approximately 5 minutes later. I would definitely recommend them and would advise anyone to give them a try! I will definitely use again!

It's a scam. Nobody likes admitting that they got scammed, but if it helps someone else avoid the scam I guess it's worth doing. I booked my car through Priceline for about a hundred bucks. Sounds great, right? Then I arrived at Advantage and my nightmare began. No, I shouldn't have shown up tired and in a hurry. No, I shouldn't have agreed to charges that I didn't quite understand. But when the booking agent offered me a free upgrade it sounded like a great idea, right? Wrong. He (Lorenzo, same guy everyone else here is complaining about) basically started another reservation, meaning I got to double-pay my rental fee. What about pre-paying gas? Wouldn't it be great to not have to worry about paying gas? The rental agent quoted a price of $2.45, which is reasonable in Denver; only later did I look at the paperwork and it said $2.59 How about EZ-pass? Somehow that got added to my bill for an extra $50. I'm strongly tempted to complain to the State. It probably won't go anywhere, but it's important to let people know that this company is a scam.

Rented a car from the SMF location. After a long flight and arriving at Advantage to pick up my prepaid rental the attendant at the counter asked me about wanting prepaid gas. She mentioned it was cheeper than the gas stations outside of the airport, not true waste of money and I should have declined. Like I said it was a long flight and I was very tired. Paid $62 for a 18gallon tank no refund on unused gas. She also told me they were having a special on an upgraded car. I declined and she said she could give another 25% off. I accepted and when getting into my rental it smelled so horrible of cigarettes smoke I went back the next morning and tried to exchange the car. They had nothing available so I was stuck for 6 days in an upgraded rental that I really didn’t need and it made me sick every time I got into it from the smell. I did make a complaint after returning the car. Advantage customer service was very considerate and helpful. I was referred to management and they addressed my issue and refunded me the upgraded price difference. Because of there understanding and costumer service I will rent from them again. Just don’t drive off with your rental right away if you have any issues with the car. Address them right away so you can get another car. I could only give a 4 star because it was upsetting to get convinced to pay more money for an upgraded car only to be disappointed how bad it smelled of smoke. I don’t even think the car had been cleaned after the previous renter had rented the car. Otherwise all other expectations were great.

Do not book here unless you want $850 of hidden fees. I booked my car and the extra insurance in advance for a weeks worth of time and paid around 460. I thought all I had to do was go pick up my car and go. However, at the desk they show all these extra fees that you have to pay before you pick up the car. Plus a 200 deposit fee that you don't get back till you return the car. The extra fees cost more then the car itself! The car was non refundable so I had to pay the fees or I wouldn't have got the original 460 I spent back. This really put a dent in the vacation where I'm suppose to be having fun and relaxing. Do not book here, you will regret it.

Bait and switch. Surprisingly high fees, non-transparency. Too late to back out. "They've got you by the b*^^s" when you discover their fees." Tiny tablet you have to agree to is almost illegible; you need to sign many fine print screens; it's non-transparent. Imagine: you're already in the airport and stuck. Ins, liability, collision waiver fees are much larger even than rental charges itself.

I rented this vehicle thinking that it was unlimited miles, but when I got there they advise me that in order to get unlimited miles it will be $20 per day, I do not qualify with the unlimited miles since my residency is less than 65 miles from their office, Plus the car was not clean dog hair all over so it was not pleasant for my wife , the front CA plate was missing and they give a diesel car. waiting for my final bill I hope there is no surprise.

Van was filthy inside. Based on the location of the damage and dents, my guess the car had been in at least 3 incidents were damage was done. Van even came with a broken tail light. I did not get pulled over for that, so that is good. I don't mind a cheap rental car, but this was not cheap enough for the condition of this van. Also be ready to be aggressively shaken down at counter for every add on they have. I give 2 stars because mechanically the van was sound and did the job.

I was supposed to get rental at 11pm. I got the car at 2:30 am in the night and stranded out in the dark. Exhausted after a flight and these guys had no cars available because they were over-booked!! They made us 25 people wait in line for 3 hours. The representative made an announcement in person “we’re out of cars, you guys can wait if you’d like. We’ll give you a car if someone comes to return it” Of course. Of course. We spent our Friday night at the rental place because We literally had no where to go except WITH a car. So we waited and waited. For 3 hours!!!! I can’t bad mouth more here. But if I were you, I wouldn’t rent a car with ADV. Please rethink, and again.

Very pushy at the counter. The additional coverage they wanted us to purchase was more than the car rental. We didn't purchase as we have coverage under our insurance. 4 days into the rental something broke in the steering column and we could not start the car. When we called we were told it was our responsibility to get the car towed back as we didn't purchase their roadside assistance. We are still waiting for tow truck 2 hours later. Very poor customer service all the way around.

Avoid at all costs. The car I reserved was not clean and the tank was 3/4 full. I mentioned this to one of the reps, but upon returning the vehicle they tried to charge me ELEVEN dollars a gallon to fully fill the tank. Thankfully I had time to leave, refill the tank and return. As others have stated, they try and hit you with tons of extra fees when you return the car. For example, there is a $25 fee per day for DECLINING the insurance? Go with a real company and you will end up saving money.

Very inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. The bus to the Denver facility was worn and dirty. The facility had AEZ logos everywhere, but not the word “Advantage”. A good number of us started talking about whether we were in the right location. The building is dingy and the car had dents on it. Advantage needs to invest in it’s infrastructure. I would rent from them again if traveling alone, but not of family or business associates were with me. New renters should lower/manage their expectations of a rental company. Terrible customer service! Called today to extend my rental and was told it would be another $109. No big deal..... until he told me they were going to run another authorization on my credit card for that amount and another $200 deposit! WTH! I've only ever used Enterprise and when an extension or any extra charges come up they take it out of the existing hold and credit you back the unused portion. This is rediculous! 2 $200 holds? Its highway robbery! I tried to ask if I could just pay the total upfront but no. They MUST do another hold! Then I ask if I can just keep it longer and pay the extra price at drop off and he insisted they would report the car stolen instead! I don't know who these people are but they're shady!

At pick up was I was told paying $35 bucks to be able to bring the car back on empty was a great deal considering gas prices in the area. Yes, $35 total with no extra fees they told me. I was surprised to see a $52 dollar charge for gas on my bill (plus an extra $7, I still can’t figure out what for). I called customer service and they said the $52 included taxes on gas. Fortunately, the customer service agent gave me a discount to make it right. Don’t fall for the bait and switch!

BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT= DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY AND RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! Our reservation times was 1000, our flight arrived a little over an hour early and we were told that they did not have a car in the price we reserved however in their database it showed a car should be returned and it would be available at our reserved pick up time. We requested to talk with the manager and was given the phone number for the rental desk we were standing at. They did have other vehicles that we could pay a higher price for. While we sat at the rental car pickup counter waiting for our reservatIon time we contacted the reservation center/ corporate number and we're told that we had to communicate with the site manager. I asked for a number to communicate with a manager directly and was told they dont give his direct number out. I understand and respect that so I provided the rental agent my phone number and asked that the manager contact me. Needless to say the manager was not contacted and we were forced to wait for the hour until we could pick up the car at the reserved time. Our choices at this point: we can pay an increased fee for a larger car or we cancel the reservation and rent with a more legitimate customer friendly rental agency and forfeit one day rental! Do not rent from this company. I've worked for rental car companies and I've rented many cars and have never experienced a rental business model or practice like this before. AND I WILL NOT RENT NOR WILL I RECOMMEND THIS AGENCY TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

We had a rental reservation, and were offered an upgrade when picking up the car. We completely misunderstood the increased cost, but did not discover it until we were well on our way. It would have doubled the amount we thought we would be charged. After writing Customer Service an email (which was quickly acknowledged) we were assured that we would be helped when returning the car. That is exactly what happened. Sam, the manager at the Denver Airport, heard our story and corrected the contract. We were charged what we were expecting, and left feeling well taken care-of. We will not hesitate to rent from Advantage Rent A Car again.

Warning!!! DON’T RENT FROM ADVANTAGE UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY A COUPLE EXTRA HUNDRED DOLLARS IN FEES!!! I rented a compact car from Advantage through a third-party website. Advantage advertised the vehicle I selected on this website as including “unlimited miles”. That was far from the truth! I was told unlimited miles included the first 250 miles. Our trip from Sacramento to Disneyland was going to be over 800 miles round trip. When I pushed back on this misinformation, the Customer Service rep referred back to Advantage’s Terms and Conditions. I was very upset because what I thought was going to be a 5-day car rental for less than $200 like I’ve experienced in the past with other car rental providers, ended up costing me $386. I was near tears feeling forced to surrender the extra $277 dollars for unlimited miles, auto protection and other daily fees that weren’t advertised on the third-party platform. If I cancelled, I’d forfeit what I already prepaid upfront to Advantage. The rep tried to make things better by upgrading the vehicle to a sedan. The guy who brought the vehicle around to me left the driver seat pumped to the ground and the reclined nearly to the back so when I climbed inside in the dark, I fell hard onto the seat and threw out my already strained lower back prior to my daughter and I making our drive down to Disneyland. On top of all this, the car had water stains all over the windows and car exterior and the inside was dusty and not wholly clean. Overall, I don’t recommend Advantage due to the undisclosed additional fees, the poor customer service and the cleanliness of their vehicles.

We were returning from a vacation from Mexico via Huston to Las Vegas unfortunately our flight was cancel do to mechanical difficulties and force to go to Phoenix and rent a car a drive 5 to 6 hours home. You probably figured out we were extremely tired and a bit cranky, Ms ...... (so sorry) I forgot your name. But you were so good you put me an ease and the rest of my trip was smooth, of course since i was so tired i have left my wallet in the car. Beware of their up-charging and fraudulent claims about the toll-pass. We were forced into buying it and never needed it. We were also lied to about it being reversed when not used. Their corporate customer service has ignored us, the branch itself is trash, and most of the vehicles needed maintenance; we were told to ignore the lights on the cluster stating it needed service. We had to argue with them for a vehicle that didn’t need maintenance. This place is cheap for a reason, rent at your own risk.

I rented through my aarp travel website. It said unlimited milage. However upon arrival to pick up my rental, Advantage Rep begins to asked me how far was going? It seemed weird at first but I engaged. Then the customer service rep says to me, you only have 250 miles per day and you have pay an additional $60 for unlimited milage. My paperwork clearly says unlimited milage & I refuse to pay more. He tried to explain to me that when you book through a 3rd party website it does not show everything. And I explained to the rep as politely as I could that when a person selects unlimited milage your car rental company should never be an option. So I left and got my car from Thrifty with unlimited milage.

We rented a car and we’re told we needed to go downstairs (we did the 2 months ago) we then waited in line for about 1.5 hours. We were originally told they overbooked on cars. When we got to the ticket counter the only cars that were avaiable were the Desiel cars, being that it was almost 2am in the morning we took what we could get. I asked if we could come back and swap out our car and was told yes, which we question. Not sure what happen or if this was a fluke. I’m giving this place 3 stars because the rental counter agent did find us a car and she was polite. Also, not sure what was going on 2/14 but they were the cheapest we could find. Hopefully, you’ll have a much better experience.

I WOULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS IF I COULD! I had my car booked for more than 30 days prior to pick up. I get to the counter and the girl says "we're out of cars". I told her I have a confirmation number but she keeps saying she's out of cars and it doesn't matter. What kind of RENTAL CAR is OUT OF CARS?! On top of that she refused to give something in writing in order for me to get a refund. Luckily the third party booking was able to contact them and refund me entirely, but this is far beyond upsetting and the most horrendous service I've ever experienced. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! I wish I had seen these reviews prior to booking, because I never pick someone with less than 4 stars. They should lose money and not even be able to have a booth, and PHX airport should be the ones to do something about it.

I had an issue during the check in. I told the rep that I declined the insurance (my company covers my rental cars). When it came time to sign the contract, the rep pointed out tha spaces for initials and for signatures. After receiving the paperwork, I discovered that I had been instructed to initial that I wanted insurance.Granted, I should have taken the time to read the entire contract. I still feel the company should assume some responsibility by refunding the insurance premium. Thank You

Terrible. Choose another place. First problem was that the estimate for the car on travelocity was $94, but when I signed up for the "bare basic insurance" it became $300. Went out to the lot and the spot that was supposed to have my car had a different car in it. Went back in line to get a different car. When I returned the car the next day, the lady who received the car asked why I hadn't filled up the gas tank--- it was because when I had checked out the car, I had paid for the unlimited gas fee and had been told to not fill it up. Had to go inside and get it worked out, and the folks worked it out for me. Now over 2 weeks after my rental I have another $30 charge on my card. I had to call to find out. The first few calls disconnected me saying I needed to call within business hours, I was calling during business hours. A few days later I get connected and am told that I drove through a toll. Nope, wrong again, since I drove from the airport to Golden using 70. Now I am wasting my time for the past 52 minutes on hold with the toll company to dispute.

If you want to wait in line for 3 hours after finally being picked up by the shuttle use Advantage. If you want to feel mislead by accepting the toll road fast pass which they told me was Only a little less than 10 dollars, they didn't however inform me it was per day, if they had I would have declined it...Use advantage. The car was fine, the process of getting the car was ridiculous.

Can I give negative stars? After paying all the extra fees ($400 for 5 days) they gave us the worst car I have ever seen in any car rental company. The tires have no rims, there are scratches ALL OVER the car and the car drives like it is about to break down at any moment. And the side view mirrors are not adjustable and very very dangerous to drive around an unknown city. Very disappointed in the quality of the rental car given to me. I am scared to drive it because it seems like it will break down at any moment. It shakes when driven. Disgusted at the car they gave us. I will never use this company again!

first and last why? because I rented the compact needed cruise control never had an issue with getting a car with cruise from enterprise or budget but they told me I had to pay over $100 extra for my 8 days. I explained this is my first time using advantage and hope you guys can work with me, had I known these cars don't have cruise I could have paid $2 extra online, they weren't willing to work with me beyond that. Also, this is the first time I had to show proof of insurance. all in all, spent an hour, drive 30 minutes to the airport, not good customer service at all. they lost a potential repeat renter.

Went on hotwire to get a good deal and I did. They gave me Advantage rent a car. Went to pick up the car no trouble at all the guy upgraded us for a bigger SUV since we were going up north. Then he asked for a 300 deposit, well we didnt know that advantage deposit is actually 200 not 300. He charges us an extra 100. Well when we returned the car we asked the lady in the booth if our 300 would be refunded she lied and said yes. We got the email later and only 200 was refunded. They kept the extra 100. Now we have to call them and ask them why they are keeping the extra 100. Do not book through hot wire and do not do business with advantage like there name they will take Advantage of your money. Listen and read the reviews on this company is all true. They shouldn't have any stars why cause they have more one then 5.

I was unsatisfied with two experiences through Advantage. I prepaid for unlimited miles through Hotwire, which I believe was the final pricing. Both times, when picking up my vehicle, I was given additional charges for unlimited miles, which I already paid for. Per the representative, it stated on Hotwire "there may be additional charges" in which I could not find in fine print nor could the representative show me. I am frustrated how additional charges were made without my knowledge or consent.

This is the absolute WORST car rental service I’ve ever experienced! I would give it zero stars if I could. Never in my life have I heard of a rental agency that doesn’t have spare keys....heaven forbid you lose or accidentally misplace your car key because all of their staff will tell you to call a locksmith. What on God’s green Earth will that do? Unlock a car I can’t start? They have no protocol, if they did they surely could not articulate that to me when I called to report what was going on. Even after explaining this to two different representatives, they still kept telling me to call a locksmith and that I was going to be charged almost $600 if I didn’t locate the key. Fortunate for me, I immediately noticed when it wasn’t in my possession while shopping in downtown Denver. I called every store I visited that afternoon and finally found the store where it fell out of my pocket, but not before being disrespected by Advantage Rep, Omar, on the phone for almost an hour. He refused to transfer me to a supervisor and continue to antagonize me, insinuating I was being an irresponsible customer. I will never rent a car from this company again. Also, when picking up/returning the car, the lines were atrocious!! I’ve worked in the service industry for almost 12 years and have never been so disgusted by the standard by which this business operates. I highly suggest you go with a better rental service, even if it means a few more dollars you have to spend. Save yourself the nightmare.

I reserved a car for one day total 25$ but they charged me for 60$. My creadit card covers the damage waiver but they did not accept. they said our state does not accept that and .... Bunch of unreasonable excuses. I never use advantage and never recommend it again. I had an offer for 50$ from enterprise and I chose advantage bc of lower price. They charged me more (60$) never trust rental that show you minimum price. Other rentals show you all option and do not force you to get coverages. Coverages you already have.

Rented a full size care in early August 2015 for 10 days. Quick check out - 10 min and check in - 5 min. They gave me a clean Toyota Camry, it had a few minor dings, all clearly marked on the sheet - do the walk around before you drive off. The car was in excellent condition and drove well. I think you need some savvy when you rent a car. Have good credit and your own insurance! Politely decline any options or upgrades that cost money ( making a decision at the counter is a bad idea - this is where you get disappointed at the end). Show some flexibility if the car isn't exactly as you think - their definitions are a little different - as long as it is close. I usually rent from the big boys but Advantage -- had a big price Advantage -- so I decided to try them and am glad I did. I will absolutely rent from them again.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE- wish I could give this company a 0 star rating. Was absolutely scammed by this company. We were flying in for 4th of July and were renting a car to go to Donner Lake. They guy at the front desk said they were having a special on GMC Yukon xl's for 26$. They say it was communicated was that it was 25$ flat a day but what we were charged for was 26$ a day on top of the 20$ a day we were going to pay for a full size sedan. Called the company and spoke to supervisor Joseline B and she would refuse to refund us anything. We also were told that on our last day with the car they would only charge us by the hour but ended up charging for a full day instead of the 3 hours we had the car for. This was a total scam and I would advise never to rent a car from this company ever. Disgusting unhelpful nasty people.

Went there twice while renting car in Phoenix 4 stars for place is clean and accessible from the airport. There are small busses to take you there. Maybe 10 min. Drive from the airport.there are different car rental companies . Last year we had a car from Advantage .this year Alamo had lower prices. Take your insurance instead of theirs. Call your insurance and ask about using your own insurance . You could save some money there. I had all set - car size, air conditioning, unlimited mileage. I gave them only 4 stars for trying to get more money out of you. First they will tell you to take extra insurance for sand storm damage or anything like that. That’s $200 extra. Trying to convince that will give you a peace of mind. Second ( they got us on it) to charge you ahead of time for gas that you can fill out before you return back your car.so we paid extra like $40 for gas.we had 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee 7 days $440 I believe. Return is easy . Just come back to the place return key and go up for bus to airport.

Horrible experience. Our rental broke down and we waited 3 freaking hours without air for someone to finally help us. They told us they were on the way and it took them 2 and half hours to get to us. No updates, no nothing. Thanks advantage for taking time away from our vacation without offering us any type of discount besides a free day with guys. Booked through hotwire then upon arrival was told " because we live somewhat local after 250 miles charging 55 cents a mile.....our contract States unlimited miles, said car was ready at 3:30 but we are late for pick up, wanted to read our entire insurance policy instead of allowing to decline purchasing theirs." After we were not accepting all the requests they proceeded to say, " well we did not accept hotwires bid" even though it was already charged by hotwire before giving us the name of the company booked. Absolutely unprofessional, ridiculous, rude and NEVER again!!! Not to mention the day before I called to ask about getting car a day early and they said, " if you want to add another day you have to get a separate reservation, bring the car back and get a new contract". That makes no sense if you are renting it to leave town!!!!!Amazing, DO NOT BOOK here!!!!

Dear Ken at the Counter of the Phoenix Car Rental Location, I did not appreciate the long, hot line my Mom and I had to wait in to speak with you. I do understand this is not your fault because of the time of day and major events happening in the area, so this is forgivable, but still not appreciated. I do appreciate the kind way you greeted us and the mild manner you used to explain why our expected price through a third party suddenly doubled at the counter. I also appreciate that you took the time to come up with multiple, cheaper options for us because, due to a move out-of-state, funds were running low. I absolutely do NOT appreciate that when we told you it was still not affordable due to unforeseen charges (again, not your fault, I understand) a switch was flipped. You began to berate and belittle my mother and myself because you "sat there and put in TWO codes for [us]" and gave us "such a great deal" and we were just going to walk away?? "There are long lines and you're just standing here shopping around?" So, not only am I now uncomfortable that I can't suddenly afford $100 more than I expected, I am being made to feel stupid for "wasting [your] time" as well as "all the people behind [us]." No. You do not treat people like that, Ken. My Mom was so nice to you and the fact that she was there is the ONLY reason I didn't blow up on you right then and there. That, and I have some self respect. Seriously, the worst experience ever, from getting significantly overcharged to some customer service rep giving pointless explanation as to why there are so many hidden fees. So I got an email saying "Please be advised that you were given a discount and your current rental cost is 102.77 EUR (115.79 USD)". Wow great. Also on my voucher it said "To pay on arrival 98.35 USD". I dont really care about the price from 98.35 to 115.79 but the pay on arrival date should be what you pay. BUT instead of paying for 98.35 or 115.79, I ended up paying 454.32. When I first picked up my car, I barely understood what the guy was saying but I just wanted my car and leave. Should have checked my receipt but when I got to my hotel, well, I saw a charge of 387.22. Included in that is the concession fee, state tax, vehicle license fee, city tax, CFC (what is this!?) and stadium tax. When I dealt with Enterprise or any other normal car rental place, the final price they offered WAS what I paid. SO, you must be wondering, 454.32 is not 387.22. When I returned my car, they decided to charge me an extra 67.10. I called the rep and she was glad to tell me where that price came from. I was not interested in hearing that so I said have a good day. IF you want a normal experience renting a car, rent through a normal American car rental place like enterprise. What they say is what you pay. Oh also, the car I requested was not even close to what they gave me. One more also, the guy charged me for roadside service plan which I never EVER agreed to.

My family and I reserved a car here through Expedia and was quoted appropriately $200. When we got to the counter the gentleman that helped us was initially nice and friendly. However with all his "deals" he gave us... it was over $600! When I told him that was not something we could afford he kept telling us how much money he saved us. It was absurd. We walked out and looked at another company and this man FOLLOWED us and gave us another (slightly) lower price that was still completely out of our price range. We went to National and received excellent customer service from someone who wasn't pushy at all. They also beat the lowest price Advantage gave us by a longshot. THEY now have a loyal customer in us. Super disappointed with the entire experience with Advantage. We will not be back.

Tried to resolve an issue with the company and they wouldn't give me the time of day but they nagged me to death to post a review so here it is. After renting the car, it developed a mechanical problem that the company refused to help me trouble shoot or correct. Sucks to be me was their attitude. I rented a car in working order that developed a problem beyond my control or ability to fix. Seems like that would be an issue that the company would help with. Not so with this company.

Advantage was a third of the price of other rental agencies at the airport so I didn't have much of a choice, but I was surprised at how great the experience was. Getting a shuttle at midnight took a bit too long, and the service to get a car was slow, but they were well staffed for that time and did their best. The car was clean. Dropping off the car was quick. They emailed a receipt right away and I was not charged anything additional as some other reviews have stated. Just avoid tolls and inspect the car before. The shuttle back to the airport was fast.

Today I had a horrible experience with Advantage Rent-A-Car at Sky harbor airport in Phoenix Arizona. As you can see from previous posts this is not a place to rent a car when traveling to Phoenix. The individuals that work at this location are scammers, dishonest, and liars. They will tell you that you need to have additional services and insurance according to law which are blatantly not true. When I asked to discuss the issues with the supervisor they told me that there were no supervisors that worked at this location that would take complaint calls. Ken, the man that waited on us was more than willing to lie and cheat to get extra money out of us. Beware. I would never rent a car from Advantage rent a car again. There are several other rental car facilities available at this location that would be a much better choice. We did all of our booking online however when you get to the counter they will suddenly have additional charges that have been added to your bill.

Do not rent from this company. The weekend of my daughters wedding, I waited in line for two hours, I was lied to about charges and the car was so dented I had to take at least 10 pictures to cover my butt. When I got charged $114 additional dollars for a pre- paid car, l called customer service. I was told that a misunderstood the charges at the time of the rental. I asked to speak to a supervisor. She told me I had to wait for a car because I was late. In reality I was late because there were 50 people in line ahead of me and only two agents at the desk on Labor Day weekend. I could go on but I will leave it there. Advantage rent a car does not deserve my business nor yours.

Booked with hotwire never again. Took over an hour and 45 minutes to get a car. Only 2 sometimes 3 clerks to check people out and often times would take 20 minutes "helping" a single customer. Check engine light was also on when we picked up the car. Line looked even worse when we dropped off the car. Pay the extra $10 a day to go with a better rental company. Be sure to monitor your card on file for any additional charges too.

I think advantage gets their cars from the salvage shop. I have rented at a few locations and their cars are well worn, not clean, and not fresh. At this location the agent argued with me about my credit card and pin. Like he knew better what type of card I was using. Prepare to wait on both ends. Over 30 minutes at the terminal and again at the return. At the return the bus dropped travelers off and then drive off leaving about 15 of us to wait an additional 15 minutes.

Options were to pay TRIPLE the amount for another vehicle, wait for hours for another vehicle to show up or spend the week driving a minivan. It was extremely frustrating that Advantage did not back this reservation and offer a similar car for the same price. We cancelled and rented from another company.

If I get a 2014 car, I would prefer 2014 rental prices. Long wait in line to have employee unhappy with not being able to upsell me. I thought I had everything clarified in my original reservation. Reservation requests other than wanting a car didn't exist. Garage lady employee has no interest in being a working employee. First time renting a car I have had to will myself to have a positive attitude that I am even able to afford to rent a car no matter how disappointed I am in the car.

The line was extra long. I waited in line for over an hour, they need more employees or more counter space. If I didn’t prepay for the cat I would’ve cancelled my rental and paid a few extra dollars to rent with someone else. When I returned the rental I forgot my charger for my iPhone and whomever checks the vehicle in after I exited the vehicle stole it. I realized I forgot my charger as soon as I got to the airport. I immediately tried contacting the counter but no one answered, so I filled out the lost item forum online. And of course no one turned in my charger. I forgot the cube and cord. It’s a shame you have shady employees working for you. I will never utilize your company ever again.

After a long flight from LHR that had been delayed for two hours from scheduled departure time we arrived at the Advantage Desk and were processed in good order by a polite, efficient agent and on our way with our vehicle in a short period of time. Exactly what you want after a long flight of ten hours plus the two hour delay waiting onboard the plane for a technical fault to be rectified.

The person who helped us took advantage of our lack of research and told us that we needed to upgrade to a 6 cylinder vehicle in order to get to Garden of the Gods and Boulder, which is not true. The car itself was clean and ran fine apart from the check engine light coming on every now and then.

Let me start by saying that I am typically not very picky about which car I rent as long as it drives decently. But my recent experience with Advantage car rental at the Phoenix airport was too awful to ignore. When we got in, Advantage was the only rental place that had a long line, not because they were the busiest, Alamo next door had more customers but with enough attendants to accommodate everyone. We are members and unfortunately I made a mistake of prepaying so we waited. I also had to be the driver and couldn't switch to my husband without additional fees, the clerk tried to upsell us on everything, including the things we obviously didn't need. Finally, our horrible experience peaked when we sat in our awful and very uncomfortable car. Lesson I learned: always check reviews before buying, which is the main reason I'm leaving this review. Needless to say, I will not be renting cars from Advantage anymore. I found out National has far better rewards for their members.

Horrible! I did not choose this place it was a random car rental agency dejected by the online site I used. First off advantage and EZ car rental have merged and I did not know this. So figuring out their shuttle was tricky. So I finally get to the car rental place and although they have 5 to 6 attendants helping the line is ridiculous. Solid 25 minutes standing in line. But the worst part is one attendant checking out cars. I literally sat in my car for close to 30 minutes just to get out of the parking lot!!! They ask people to check the car for any damages abs mark it on a form they provide. However most people don’t until they get to the attendant and then they get out of the car to check for damages which prolongs the line even more!!! The old adage “you get what you pay for.” Why 2 stars? Well the shuttle driver was very nice and accommodating. And the representative that helped me at the car agency to get my car was also very nice.

I literally never review any service, but this one needed my time. What a terrible experience. Our desk agent seemed nice enough and was INCREDIBLY good at her job of taking advantage of people. Intermittent "upgrades" through polite conversation, talking very quickly so that she could lace in a car that was substantially more expensive than what we needed all the while seeming pleasant and concerned for our experience. I have never come across a con like this. It was truly mind blowing when I realized what the bill was. I was told to insert my card (after booking and paying in full for the car on hotwire) for what I assumed was to have to card on file but in reality I was being charged an extra 3x (!!) the amount I had already paid for for a simple car I needed for two days. It wasn't until I left that I realized how badly I had been taken advantage of because there is ZERO explanation of the bill and the rush you along to get you out the door and into the car. Upon returning the car, I was happy to rid my life of Advantage and gave the keys to the woman who checked the car back in. She said about two words to us and told us we were good. Got a receipt in an email and lo and behold, my card was charged another $200 that was not in the original receipt. I will do everything in my power to make sure that I, nor anyone that I even remotely know, goes anywhere near this place. I could not give this business a worse review. If it was the dead of winter and I needed to get somewhere 100 miles away, walking would be an infinitely better experience than dealing with these crooks. DO NOT RENT FROM ADVANTAGE.

Had me pay for a toll pass for a toll road that was still under construction with no tolls! Got charged for a full tank of gas when I only used half. Was also lied about getting an upgrade and that it would be cheaper to do instead of adding a 2nd driver. Wrong. When I called to get things fixed they said that they couldn't because the account was already closed.... 24 hrs after turning in the car. The car itself was the only good experience. Don't rent from here! They will lie through their teeth about anything and everything to get more money from them. They better get back to me or else I'm letting the BBB and Colorado state attorneys office know that this company is running a scam!

We should have known these people were CON ARTISTS. They forced us to wait in a long line while they tried to CON people by UPSELLING people on cars and other things people did not want nor need. We still talk about how terrible these people were for trying to sell us a TOLL ROAD pass when we were never going on a toll road and we were only going up to Vail from Denver. What a joke. GOOGLE is awesome because it allows people to collective show what CON ARTISTS these people are and how they abuse their customers. Fortunately I am a lawyer and I can protect us from their scam but others are taken advantage of. I hope a DENVER LAW FIRM will sue these CON ARTISTS.

Can I give them less than 1 star???? Worst rental car service ever! Do NOT rent through them ever! We were given a car with a leaking tire. They claimed it was our fault and to just put the donut on and drive 2 hours to exchange the car. The manual didn't recommend driving on the donut and the tire shop said the tread was also unsafe. We ended up buying a new tire for the car which was $140. We will never rent from them again! Their customer service is horrible and they don't have any care for their customer's safety.

Short line, but terrible customer service. First we get to the counter and there is blood everywhere, we tell the guy at the counter and he says "yeah there was a guy bleeding from his elbow".......so why didnt they clean it???!!! Then he immediately starts trying to sell us an upgrade, we decline and he quickly became visibly annoyed. He mumbled and we kept having to tell him we couldn't hear him. The car itself had a few scratches, and the break light blew out after driving it for 20 minutes. First time renting a car in such bad conditions. Will never use Adantage car rental again.

The vehicle is good, and drop was a good experience. The agent who gave us the car , added an upgrade vehicle without mentioning that it will be charged. In the beginning he said that he is throwing in an free upgrade since he had a cancellation that morning. The car given to us had empty fuel, and I gave it empty. But they still charged for refueling @$8.99 per gallon. So be on top of the receipt and make sure everything is correct before walking out . I never had this service before.

I recently visited Phoenix and chose Advantage since the quote of $127.98 was the most competitive offer. Imagine my shock when, at check-in, my charges came to $263.71. Being late for my flight already, I did not take time to protest then, but after arriving home I did call Customer Service and went thru the bill with an agent. I was told my concerns would be submitted for review and an adjustment made within two days. I'm writing this review six weeks later; no adjustment was made and no contact has been received. Sorry Advantage, there is no "advantage" in choosing your company.

It’s 12:10am and I have been standing in a line of approximately 100 people since 10:45pm. Advantage has 3 workers at the counter for the last hour with one of the workers waiting on one couple for an hour. So far this is the worst experience from a rental car company I have experienced. I rent 2-3 times a month, the first and last from advantage. How can a company knowingly rent that many cars and not staff the counters to get their customers in and out in a reasonable time. This location is DENVER airport. Still have 300 people in front of me. Awesome a 4th worker showed up. No he came back from break an another worker took a break. WTF

Pros: If you stick to the 2 door you booked on, ignore the upgrades, don't get more insurance than you need or get sucked into prepaid gas Advantage offers cheap, new cars that I have never had an issue with. Return is very, very easy. Cons: 1) They offer everyone the 'military' or 'government' discount, don't feel special, I've been there 3 times and its been offered to me every time and I can overhear it being offered to everyone around me. It actually makes me feel gross as a person with a brother in the Army to hear them throw around the 'military' discount like that. 2) They try to pressure everyone out of the 2 door option however I HAVE NEVER SEEN A 2 DOOR CAR ANYWHERE IN THEIR LOT. I have rented here 3 times and while the first time I decided to pay for the upgrade, the other two times I just sucked it up and both times I got a nice 4 door vehicle. Do not be fooled, they don't have any tiny Fiats waiting out there and if you just stick to what you booked you'll get a fine 4 door sedan. 3) I have always landed rather early (before 9am) and only waited 20-30 minutes, however when I return the car I have frequently been with other renters who have waited over an hour, up to 90 minutes, to get their rental. I will add, though not as a con for Advantage, that many of the negative reviews here have to do with added fees. As someone who has rented a lot, this is definitely not uncommon and not unique to Advantage. Always ask how much you are paying and take a look at the detailed receipt before putting in your card and ask questions. The long line is a TACTIC to wear you down so you want to get out there as fast as possible.

Location- Phoenix Sky Harbor....My best suggestion would be AVOID renting from Advantage. They are very misleading. You think you are getting a good deal but once you get to the counter it's a completely different story. First of all their customer service is not very good at all. They are not very welcoming and seem like they have all the power and treat you that way. They rent the car stating you have unlimited miles but once you get to the counter, you have to PAY for unlimited miles or you just get 250 a day period. Once they have you there, you find this out. Then if you don't accept the unlimited they they act you did something wrong. And they only have ONE little plastic sign that states that so all the agents have to share that one sign. They have to share the credit card machine so you have to wait for the other persons transaction to be done. Once you get down to the vehicle area you have to check in AGAIN just to get your key and look the car over yourself and make sure you don't get blamed for any damage to the vehicle. Ours was all banged up and kind of embarrassing to rent but we were on a time crunch we couldn't change anything. It seems like a fly by night rental agency and I definitely wouldn't use them again. Beware.

I made the reservation for $37per day, total $70 for an economy car and they were trying to charge me $52 plus taxes and extra fees total $160. They were very pushy for me to sign their agreement without letting me read all the charges, when I realized I was being charged double, i asked them to let me charge my phone to show them the actual reservation they became mad towards me. The place was empty and the guy helping me said I had to hurry up because he needed to complete the reservation and said he needed to free his computer for other people. Not only did they not honor my collision that I pre-paid for when I purchased for the car then I also had to pay an extra $24 to have collision which is out rages so the collision and taxes alone paying twice was over 45.00. I rented a car from Advantage for what I thought was a good deal. When I received the bill they had added $150.00 to my total for car insurance that I told them I did not need. I picked the car up at 12:00 at night and all the employees were more interested in going home than paying attention to what they were doing or the answers that they were given to the standard questions in renting a car.. When I received the bill I called and talked to the customer service department and they set up a ticket to have the insurance charges reviewed. They said I would be contacted in 48 hours with an answer as to whether the insurance charges would be removed. I was also told to call them back if I had not heard back from them in 48 hours. I waited a week and called them back and nothing had been done. So the ticket was resent for review and again I was told I would be contacted in 48 hours. Once again I waited for a week and then called them back. They still did not have an answer so the customer service rep. had here boss shoot an email to the people reviewing the issue and I would hear back fro them in 48 hours. once again I was never call. I called them back two weeks later and they refused to give me back a refund for the insurance that I did not request. i have 2 complaints 1.) the waiting time to pick up rental was 45 min. 2.) Due to severe weather we were 35 min late returning rental at 11:15 am, we were charge a full day rental that they claim we were only charged for 1 hour, you do math original charge $122.00 for 3 days, now with the extra hour my bill now $175.00. The attendee told us to go ahead and dispute at their service window. 2 minuets later at service window rep sez "sorry cant help you, we already charge and closed account". ( Denver airport) You reach it from the baggage pick up / ground transportation area. It’s a short (free) train ride. Then follow airport signs to ground transportation. Reserved car online. Transportation from airport took forever so I missed my pickup time. Competition had about three buses cycle through while we waited. At the rental place all the buses were backed up forsome reason. I gave them my confirmation number. Didn't have my car so I took an upgrade instead of a different car in the same category. They tried to charge me almost double than what I reserved it for. I had to tell them that I got it online then miraculously he found the right price (+upgrade fees) rather quickly. Feels a little suspicious. 3 stars because the car was good. 2 stars for trying to rip me off.

I arrived here on a busy Thursday morning. I waited about 15 minutes for the shuttle -- not a huge deal, but I would have liked to get to the rental car area faster. There was a very long line that might have taken another 15-20 minutes, but they had about seven windows serving people. The check-in and pick-up process was very fast. I got a really good price on a car with very low miles. The drop-off process was also quick and painless. The afternoon shuttles going to the airport seemed to be more frequent. Overall, no issues. I'd rent a car from here again.

I took a rental car from them in Jan 2019. They sent me a letter in August 2019 that there is a damage to the wind shield. I would have given a negative never ending number if it exists.. This is one of the most dishonest companies I have ever dealt with. I was told at the desk that I should use prepaid fuel as it was 30 cents cheaper per gallon, but instead of charging me for the fuel I used they tried to charge me for an entire tank of gas plus an additional 10+ dollars in fees. I would avoid them at all costs. When I called to tell them they charged me incorrectly they refused to correct it and I had to dispute it with my CC company.

I rented a compact car and was originally told I would be "upgraded" from my compact rental car to a minivan. If I did not want a minivan, I would have to pay extra for an SUV. When I went to get my vehicle, there were many other vehicles available...very deceptive tactic. They have done this to me before and I thought it was a one off issue but this is a common tactic. I specifically declined pre-purchasing fuel yet I was charged for this and had to spend a half hour of my time to rectify this. CHECK YOUR RECEIPT UPON LEAVING. Second the review a few rows down, literally the same thing happened to me almost to the T. Also received a free upgrade", the agent made me feel cared for, talking quickly/making small talk and having me swipe/sign various times, the whole time scamming me into paying for something that I did not authorize. Being rushed the whole time, I was told to swipe my card, the screen on the contract signing screen is so small that you can't actually see what terms you are agreeing to, no formal breakdown of charges was given, no actual breakdown of your contact is given. When the price I was being charged was different than what I expected, I confirmed twice with the representative that I was being charged the deposit and not anything else, and she agreed--only to find out at return that this was not what I was charged. When I returned the car, Lorenzo(I believe)was nearly laughing at me in my distress, telling me that I should have handled this when I picked up the car. I was nearly in tears finding out the news that the $166 is an actual charge and not the deposit I was expecting to have returned, but he waved the contract in my face and stated continued to repeat "goodbye". I am disputing these charges with my credit card company and am reaching out to the BBB regarding this. The world should know what kind of people are working at this location. Lesson learned: ask for an itemized PRINT OUT of your charges before you agree to swiping your card. If you feel the need, go as far as having the agent sign your itemized breakdown before you swipe your card. They literally tell you one thing, but actually charge you for another. Protect yourself. This place is a total scam and should be called Take Advantage Of You Rent A Car.

Terrible service! You can only use a credit card and they won’t mention this until you swipe your Debit card. The sign that states this was hidden behind the counter. The employee put it on the counter after we swiped the Debit card. After we left, the sign was taken back down and placed behind the counter where it is not visible to customers. Additionally, if you are a resident of the state, you have only 250 miles and have to pay $20 per day for unlimited miles. Not to mention a $200 deposit!

75 minutes from entry to exit is totally ridiculous. It messes up my business schedule. This location has taken WAY TOO LONG to get a rental car for the past 2 years. Sometimes I use Hertz when I can't wait here, and I am off of the Hertz lot in 10 minutes or less... Why can't Advantage get their act together? NEVER enough agents working the counters. Absolutely unacceptable.... I think I am done with this rental company. Not worth the delays to me. I have been hoping they would fix their problems for 2 years, I talk to them, I report it to their surveys, and nothing ever changes. Didn't like that I was lied to about the tolls situation. I was told that there was no way to avoid tolls in Denver to Colorado Springs and that I needed to pay $50 for the toll service. That was absolutely not true. Thankfully, I verified that with my family member beforehand and explained to the associate he was not correct. Sure enough, the preferred navigation had zero tolls. Also - naturally the fuel service and supplemental insurance was pushed on me. Both unnecessary charges - and I was able to deny them without too much hassle.

Stay away, Bait and switch. I rented a car two weeks in advance and paid with a cc to get the best rate. When I arrived at the counter I was told that they had no cars in my class and I would need to upgrade to the higher class at my expense. I argued but was told nothing could be done. Their compromise was to reduce the cost by $2.00/per day. As they had already run my card I felt somewhat trapped. This car rental ended up cost me an additional $180.00 for this trip. We walked up to the rental booth at Hertz where we had a reservation and they screwed us over hard and were unable to get into a vehicle (after the charged us). To say we were frustrated is an understatement. We walked down to Advantage and were greeted by two friendly gentleman. They worked with us on pricing to get the lowest possible and had us in a car in under 10 minutes. I was hesitant at first as I wasn't as familiar with them, but after that experience, I will definitely rent from them again!

If I could rate below a 1, I would quickly do so. AVOID AVOID AVOID. I returned a car this morning with a full tank of gas. Later, conveniently after I had left, I received an email receipt. Lo and behold, I had magically returned the car COMPLETELY EMPTY according to them! At 9 a gallon, my bill had ballooned up quite a bit! (think, nearly $200). I ask you, how would I person even manage to drive in with a completely empty tank of gas? Fairly difficult feat I'd imagine. Anyhow, I phoned them and though I was routed to a real person fairly quick, was not at all resolved. She said I needed to "show proof". Actually, in a civil society, my word is more than sufficient. Your company's disorganization is not my problem. I would think the next time the car went out it would have shown "FULL", right? So, the people insisted on a receipt - since $200 is on the line, it's a good think I DIDN'T PAY CASH right? (I thought about it!). I sent them their precious credit card receipt, but not before I received an ADDITIONAL EMAIL from what I think is the DENVER office, stating they checked into it and that I had returned the car 1/4 full. Amazing stupidity or outright crookedness. The receipt clearly shows - can you guess? That my mileage was 234, in other words (A Dodge Grand Caravan) about 10 gallons of mixed highway/local use. So, it was impossible for me to have driven an ENTIRE TANK of gas or even 75% of a tank. This is all besides the point that any good company would have said "I'm sorry about that" and refunded it with apology immediately. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

We were very nervous to rent a car being our first time. We booked online, paid for it all besides $60 which we were instructed we would pay in arrival. We finally make our way to the counter, the man helping us was very helpful and friendly. We told him we were getting married and he said he would upgrade us. Wonderful! Then he asked about insurance and what not all of which was already taken care of and paid for online. So we told him that which he told us he couldn’t see on his end. After all was said and done we spent almost $900! Once we got to our hotel and settled in we checked out our paperwork. The man charged us for all kinds of things he said he would wave including the upgraded vehicle! We thought he was being generous and kind when only he was gouging us big time. I know we should’ve read our paper work all the way before signing anything. Absolutely our own fault we know. But this is our first time traveling alone to get married and enjoy ourselves. At that point we were just ready to get our car and get to our hotel so we could relax after a long stressful day of flying. It’s so upsetting because we’re younger than most we were taken advantage of. So much for that free upgrade as a wedding gift he said!

The line to get to the counter was over 30 mins which in my mind is unacceptable. I rent cars often from other providers and with most of the those providers and online pre-registration let’s you skip the counters all together with or without status. The folks working the counters we friendly and moved me through quickly. They apologized for the wait time but it seemed like it was something they were used to apologizing for. Once I finally got my car the car was dirty and the condition was very poor. I went ahead and took the car as I did not want to wait another 30 min to switch it out. I took pictures of dents in the side of the car and stains on the seats. The car also had not been cleaned very well on the inside, it looked like it had not been vacuumed in a while. All in I would recommend paying a bit more to avoid this company in Denver.

Honestly, this is my first review... I think advantage car rental is a horrible rent a car service... I just needed a car for one day!!! but here is the journey ... First of all, why say its unlimited mileage.... you pay for it online....then when you get to counter, they ask for more money to get the unlimited mileage... oh but we give you 250 miles.... I am pretty sure when I paid for it online it said unlimited..... then..... I got a midsize car... but what did they give me....??? a Nissan versa wait what?? is that midsize... umm no. They then say we can give you a elantra... Finally upset... I ask to speak to a manager... And this manager was like how about I just upgrade you. I said ok cool. It made me feel better. Until I seen the bill.. so not only did I pay for my original midsize (not) car but also for a upgrade that added 53 dollars. Now.... my total was 34 for the one day then 53 extra for a upgrade... I thought that the 53 and some change was the new total. But I still was charged for the other... So I would suggest anyone who reads this to stay far away from this place in SACRAMENTO CALIFORNIA!

Unfortunately, I experienced a severe lack of communication and almost-scam-like attitude from this company. They failed to notify me about having to pay for a toll pass up front, then gave me a car with a toll pass included on the windshield. Weeks after returning my rental, a $95 charge showed up on my card. Advantage claimed it was due to a toll violation, which was never explained to me at the time of rental. No matter who I called, they refused to understand my situation and refused to give me my money back. This round-about way of taking money from customers is shady to say the least. DO NOT work with this company because they are vague, unreasonable, and completely unprofessional.

When I went to the airport to pick it up with the hard copy of my reservation they said they did not have any mini vans available, and then tried to rent a economy for the same price of the van. Can you believe this! It gets better, they also wanted to charge miles on top of it, when the written contract stated unlimited miles. When I started to complain that this was unacceptable, all of the sudden found a van for us. The guys that worked there could not care less about us, and showed it in their bad attitudes and how they handled the situation. I would STRONGLY suggest not to book anything from this untrustworthy company. We were stressing our whole vacation about being overcharged for miles, or whatever else they wanted to change or tack on. None of what they were trying to change or charge us for was in writing on the contact. We read the whole thing.

My own personal experience here was a good one. I went here after bailing on a horrid rental car company in the same area and the guy at the desk was awesome about it. He listened and even apologized for them, didn't force any options, and overall was pleasant to deal with. The car itself was a new Camary with a handful of miles on it. Every rental car typically has one problem per 1,000 - 2,000 miles in my experience and this was the case here. My only complaint is it could have been cleaned a little better but otherwise I was pretty pleased with my experience here.

DisAdvantage Rent A Car over-sold a discount deal at Sky Harbor in Phoenix, and getting a pre-paid 2 week reserved car took between an hour and hour-and-a-half! One older gentleman literally collapsed in line, hitting his head on the floor and requiring EMTs to come and aid him – blood everywhere – while other customers continued to watch and wait in line. Agents took breaks despite a line overflowing into the lobby. Worst customer service experience traveling ever. NEVER EVER AGAIN! Reply to Owner: Yes, I received an automated survey a few days after my return. Remembering this incident, it was like watching a Steve Martin movie. This could not really be happening. The Sky Harbor location needs a new manager. To add to the ridiculousness of the situation, many customers ahead of me were told that the car they were promised online wasn't available, and they were offering 12-passenger vans and gas-hog SUVs. Several stormed off after waiting over an hour and voiced their experience to the other customers standing in line – this before the older gentleman passed out. It just so happened when I got to the counter I was told, a "diesel Volkswagen Jetta," was in. OK, I'll take it. When I went down the escalator to pick it up – it was a Hyundai Elantra – which was fine – but why is their computer system so incompetent that they don't even know the cars in their inventory in real-time for customers that booked ahead of time? It's like playing auto Russian roulette. Every company's most valuable asset – are their customers. DisAdvantage treats theirs HORRIBLY.

I would never recommend this company. It took us 25 minutes to wait for the shuttle that then drives you 10 minutes away from the airport and then you wait another hour in line because they only have two people working. The people working were very nice so no issues there. Get a rental car company on site at the airport. This company caused us to miss our one opportunity to visit a winery in Napa because we waited so long in their lines and now the vineyards will be closed. Very disappointed.

I was nervous when I booked the flight and car because I haven't traveled in about 10 years. Tsiyon was the gal behind the counter and she was the most friendly, humble, and caring woman I had talked to in a while. If everyone had her attitude that place would go further than ever before. She is what I'd look for in a supervisor without a doubt best employee you have and should be in a position to lead because if everyone is as kind hearted as her the world wouldn't hate anymore. Definitely made this veteran dream come true. Haven't seen my dad in almost 4 years and she made it happen. Thank you so much, I'll never forget you.

I only had problem with the amount of timing it took to speak to the agent. It was too much of a long line. I guess it was because of the holiday weekend.

THEY ARE SWINDLING CUSTOMERS ON GAS REFUEL!!!! As you can see from comments below, this is a common occurrence here: They gave me the car with a more than half-empty gas tank, told me not to worry about refilling it all, wrote it on the check-out slip EMPTY, told me again when I returned the car I wouldn't be charged, and then... they charged me a $208 refuel fee. At best, I used three gallons of gas. Shame on the employees for doing this. Do they get a cut of the money, or what? Also there was a 45-minute wait in line to check out, and a couple returning a car (which needed repairs!) said the line was even longer a few days earlier when they got there.

Front Desk: Tried to "UP" sell me too much. Too long to get out the exit once I was finally in the car and when I turned in the car and ask what my total was the guy made up a number and when I told him I knew that wasn't right he said, "it's whatever they told you when you stood in line for 2 hours to get the car." Had a Hyundai Santa Fe for four days starting 9/7/19. The car was fine. Made the reservation weeks in advance online, but when I got to the counter, the contract they presented had higher taxes and fees than they had presented when I made the reservation. I had to persist in insisting they honor the prices on my reservation, and the clerk eventually got his manager, who made an adjustment. This is the reason for only three stars.

Horrible service, car was filthy/damaged, took 45 min when I was 4th in line. Desk is not in terminal, as stated online so I had to drag a 3 year old and all our luggage through the shuttle service to a rental car building. Waited 40 minutes in line and employee decided to take a break when it was my turn, then return to have a personal conversation with other employees instead of helping me. I have never seen people move slower. Told me no less than four times that I should be buying insurance even though my personal insurance insurance fee covers rentals. They take a $200 deposit which was never mentioned while booking. No pre-trip paperwork in the car so I had to go back to the desk to get it. Dirt and bugs all over the (freshly wet/washed car) and so many scratches it covered my pre-trip paperwork. I drove away and saw a splash on the windshield, tried to wash it and realized it was on the inside. I don’t even know what it was but it was crusty and disgusting. From the time I landed it took me 90 min to leave the airport. Ridiculous. I’m here for 24 hours to see family and every minute mattered which is why I booked a company “in the terminal”. Last night the car had trouble starting. I’m not even sure it will start today when we need to return it. I will never use this company again.

I like that I was able to use my debit card for the hold and not for a crazy fee like most other companies. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because the car we were given smelled like smoke and we just didn’t have time to switch it. But we were given a size upgrade to that car which was nice.

If your car breaks down somewhere requiring a car replacement, expect that you need to tow or drive it back to phoenix airport location. Thats their only location which is kinda nerve wrecking if youre at the middle of nowhere or 6 hrs away. Phone customer support needs some improvement too. Don't believe the sales rep. I rented a car last week and I was asked if I wanted to prepay for gas. I asked how much the price was per gallon and the rep said $2.50, he even stated it was like .20 cents less than the local stations so I agreed. I should have known and read the fine print, but I didn;t think they would straight out lie to me. I got a charge for almost $45 of gas for less than half a tank. Unbelievable.

The guy upstairs told me they were closed and that I'd need to go downstairs... So we packed up everything and went to their downstairs office where they told me they had no cars available. Advantage did the classic bait and switch. I rented a small SUV and prepaid online. Upon arrival, they said they'll only had minivan available and that the fine print said this was legal. After resisting, they giving me a truck and said I could call every day to see if something smaller would be available. This is my 3rd day calling and of course nothing. I will never ever rent from Advantage again. The same day, the "maintenance required" light went on. I called and they said "ehh, it just needs oil change". They were not concerned and now I cannot view the driver's display because of the warning light.

Scam artists. I have rented now twice with them, once from Priceline and once from Holiday Cars. Both times paid in full before arriving. Both times they still charged me IN FULL meaning I've been double charged - twice. I've sent them numerous emails - no response. I've called and I get put on hold and hung up on. Unreal. They said they don't accept the pre-paid vendors -- then why are you on there? Now I'm out 100s of dollars. Plus, honestly, the cars were dirty both times. Never again. Unprofessional,illiterate and untrained staff Long wait times No driving over 250 miles for LOCAL RESIDENTS, even though confirmation email and reservation says UNLIMITED MILEAGE. Absolutely do NOT rent from this company. I set up a reservation for a small compact car (I own a Chevy Spark so I'm use to smaller car). When I arrived they insisted they only had a VW Jetta that only took diesel. This was a lie because the garage was absolutely full of smaller compact cars and sedans. Also, the reviews about the staff being rude are spot on. Everyone from the genie looking dude who checked us in to the service girls in the garage were unfriendly and not at all helpful. The man who checked us in even had the audacity to take a personal call on his cell while he was waiting for us. If I did that in my job, I would be unemployed in a heartbeat.

I requested customer support over the phone for car exchange from Mini Van to sedan or midsize available. she accepted my request and requested me to come back to pickup location to return mini van and get the Sedan or midsize car for no extra charge but with lot of inconvenience and difficulty I drove back for 40 min to return the car. After returning mini van the person sitting in the counter asked me to pay extra amount for the exchange, I don’t understand at the first place why the customer support confirmed to take an exchange without any additional charge. It ruined my whole day and its very bad experience, I’ll not recommend to bool the rental car with Advantage because it was the worst support and they wont value customer.

Paid an extra $10 a day for unlimited tolls and if we did not go through any tolls for a few of the days that we would be credited back $10 for every day we did not use tolls.... at least this is what we were told when getting the car. After getting the bill we noticed we had been charged for all 5 days. Called customer support and they told us that that is not how it works that we will be charged for every day even if we didn’t use any tolls and there is nothing they can do. So we pretty much paid twice as much for the few tolls we did use.... also being a AAA member that if we brought the car back and had them fill the tank that we would save 20 cents per gallon and it would be cheaper then filling it up ourselves... we ended up paying $56 for 3/4 of a tank. Very poor experience we ended up paying almost $700 for 5 days after everything was all said and done.

Not enough staff, waited 30 minutes to even get taken care of, did not have vehicle that was shown, had to upgrade to get another vehicle. Went from a $300 car rental to almost $500, many hidden fees. I will be checking out other options in the future. I would not recommend this company. vehicle not in very good condition.

We are currently dealing with a tire that is rapidly deflating with zero help from customer service. We were told to use a spare tire that doesn’t exist, a compressor with a fix a flat that was already used prior to us renting the car. Evidently, this company knew they rented us a car with a tire that already had issues and Advantage failed to check this vehicle prior renting it to us . Furthermore, the customer service agent had put us on hold and then transferred us to roadside assistance which we explicitly said we did not want and we wanted to speak with a supervisor. He would not give me his name nor his ID number. Moreover, he claimed that there was no way for him to contact any other advantage office/ location. If you don’t want any headaches while on vacation, do not ever rent from this company.... However... FYI- the customer service at the Kiosks is entirely different than the atrocious customer service on the phone. I would like to give Javier and the rest of the PHX International Airport staff a 5 star review..

I found the website easy to use when making my reservation, and charges easy to access to make my reservation decision. Advantage rates are very good, and the vehicle I was given is top-notch with all the latest bells and whistles. My flights were delayed, and I called customer service to advise them. My call was answered promptly, and the note appended to my reservation so there was no confusion at the rental desk. The representative at the counter was very courteous, professional, and knowledgeable and answered all my questions clearly. Altogether, I am very pleased with my Advantage rental experience!

I thought my experience was good and complete but weeks later a collection agency is contacting me for damages that no one told me about when turning in the car. I rented a subaru outback from Advantage which was in rough shape with scratches, dents, and even a small crack in the windshield. I did my best to document everything on the tiny paper they gave me prior to leaving. I wasn't worried about the imperfections because it did not cause issues with driving. When I came back to turn in the vehicle I politely asked the advantage rep if the car was in same shape to them and said the car had a lot of damage prior so wanted to be sure I wouldn't be charged. The lady assured me everything was good compared to my documentation. 3 weeks later without any communication to me a collection agency is contacting saying I owe Advantage for damages to their car. You may be able to save 20/30 bucks but trust me its not worth it. I'm sure there are plenty of people who have had a good experience but for me I will never again use their services. My only advice would be to take a ton of pictures of every imperfection on the car or you'll be charged. I tried my best but still have to spend hours of time to get this resolved.

AWFUL! Customer service is NON-Existent as this company has attempted to automate EVERYTHING and no longer wish ANY human interaction. If you've ever dealt with Comcast, the world's WORST customer service, then you know what to expect from Advantage (mother company is Hertz). The ONLY human you will ever be able to speak with is Reservations (of course they want your money ...). After they get your money they want nothing to do with you. We waited 30 min to get the shuttle to Advantage. Then once we arrived there were over 20 people in front of us and it took 2 hours to get our rental car. After getting the keys and asking "What do we do if the car smells like smoke? Do we have to wait in this line again? The sales guy said just come directly to him and he'll fix us up quickly." Guess what?" The car reeked of smoke! Thankfully the agent was able to put us in a different car quickly. However as wonderful as the agent was the experience was awful and I will never rent from Advantage again. In addition to all the waiting, the car we rented was filthy! We had to stop and wipe the windows because they were so dirty inside and out. Trust me it's not worth the savings. Go to Alamo or Enterprise. They are fast and there cars are clean and no wait time.

Whatever you do, DO NOT rent from Advantage rental car. I rented a non-smoking car from the HOUSTON HOBBY AIRPORT location for my trip in June 2016. About 20 minutes down the road, the smell of the perfume-like odor cover-up was overpowering. By the time I arrived at my destination, the car, me, and my clothing stunk of cigarettes and perfume cover-up. I called first thing in the morning and asked them to swap out the car. The said they would swap it out if I returned it to the airport, but with the schedule of family plans, I could not spare the 1.5 hours one way that would have cost in time. I explained this. They would not accommodate me and fix their error. When I returned the car, I tried to resolve this at the location with the manager. The HOUSTON HOBBY branch manager was out to lunch. I waited for over half an hour until I would miss my flight if I waited any longer. The staff at the desk took my number down and said the manager would call me when she returned. I never received a call. I called customer service at the corporate office where ARIEL, a customer service failure was of no help, and very rude. She said that I should have handled it at the branch. I repeated to her that I tried to do so. I also asked to speak to ARIEL's manager. ARIEL said that she was her own boss and that if I was not happy to hang up and call back but that I would get another person that would tell me the same thing. She was of no help, the car was not what I rented in the contract and the entire experience, especially the part with ARIEL from "customer (non)service." It is unfortunate that with the many options customers have, that ADVANTAGE is not more committed to excellent customer service. I travel frequently and will be selecting a different provider for rental service in the future.

Advantage is terrible. They do not honor prepaid reservations (yes, fully prepaid), and their customer service team is unapologetic and unreasonable, despite emphasizing that customer service is their first priority. Completely hollow words. I was forced to upgrade and pay way more for a car since they did not have my car choice reserved (despite having prepaid in full)- this was after being told my only options were to forfeit everything I had paid (hundreds of dollars) and get no car, or pay for an upgrade and get a bigger car than I wanted. I went back and forth with customer service about how wrong this practice was for days, to no avail. I will never rent from them again- they completely disrespect customers and rip you off without any regret or reason. Management really needs to get it together here. Update: Advantage's customer service continues to be unreasonable and frankly unethical in their business practice. I very much appreciate Hotwire's support in this issue, and their willingness to reimburse me, despite the onus being on Advantage to right their own wrong. Hotwire should drop them as a partner, as taking advantage of customers does not reflect well on the booking site. Will be sure to avoid Advantage in the future.

I prepaid for a car (in advance, reduntant I know) and when I got there they did NOT have Any economy cars. They tried hard to up sell me into a "upgrade" car at an additional cost of $17.00 A DAY!!! The Agent threatened to just cancel my reservation completely and leave me with out a car after I waited an hour and a half in line. Or I could go wait in line again and Maybe they would have an economy car after I waited an hour and a half or two again in line again?!! First come first serve?!! Seriously?!! Finally he gave me what he considered an upgrade, a bigger car, NOT what I consider an upgrade!! I got it at the same price I paid, but after a very bad experience with the rental agent!!! I will try to Never rent from them ever again!! Fox rentals is NO different. They do not even have roadside assistance!! I am going Thrifty all the way from now on!! Last time with Thrifty I got a flat and they fixed it fairly quickly and free of charge!!!!

Got a van from them for what I thought was a good deal. When I picked up the van, the customer service guy said that there is a $20 a day fee for local renters if I wanted unlimited mileage. He said I should have scrolled down to read the fine print before booking it with them. Had never used this company before, but was pleasantly surprised. Except that the check in was a little slower than I would have liked, the agent was professional and pleasant. Since I rent frequently my check in was quick and painless. Returning the car was also easy and fast. The car I got, a VW Passat was older, but in great shape and quite peppy. It was a Diesel engine which I had never had before. The price was unbeatable, and I never felt uncomfortable about an up sell, or that the car was not top notch.

Hail damage and body damage all over it. when i tried to exchange it they claimed they had no more and could only change it if i paid more for an upgrade. I had a good experience here. Nice staff both when checking in and out. I read bad reviews from other costumers and I was a bit concerned, but I hadn't absolutely any kind of problem, they were kind to me and they gave me a brand new car with a good price. I had a small hit and I was a bit worried but everything was covered as I got the collision waiver. I paid more for the insurance than for the car, but I guess it is normal and it finally proved worthy.

Shuttle to the car rental location was reasonably prompt. The wait to actually get the car at the car rental lot was way too long, but the car itself was fine. Drop-off was smooth, no delay and the shuttle got us back to the terminal for our return home.

This was the worst car rental experience we ever had. We arrived in the early hours as our flight was delayed. There were no cars available in Phoenix when we arrived and the crazy thing was that the employee in the office did not have authority to do anything which was maddening and also very unfair on her. She ended up helping by finding a smoke damaged Volkswagen Diesel that was near empty on gas but at least we could get to the wedding the next day.
