Traveled around Alaska for 16 days with a party of 6 adults in a 32 foot RV from GAH. Overall our experience was very positive. All interactions with the staff were positive and helpful. No significant issues with the RV. When we had a couple minor issues we stopped by on a swing through Anchorage and our concerns were addressed promptly. There are a few little things that just feel like they a skimping on supplies. We rented the coffee maker, but they only provide ~ 10 coffee filters, not a big deal to go buy them, but it wouldn't be a big deal to provide 20-30 coffee filters on their part. There are no cleaning supplies at all, like dish soap, maybe a pack of clorox wipes, etc. Again, minor details in the grand scheme of things. Overall very good experience and a great way to see the great state of Alaska!

RV mechanically sound, no problems with operation. A large fleet with sizes for all needs. Check-in procedure very professional. Orientation was mostly a 30 minute video. Actual hands on orientation was a little short and rushed. An exterior side panel opened up at some point in the first 100 miles, but it was easily closed and had no further problems. The side door to the cabin was the biggest problem: did not properly close without major force. Agent blew it off as "common with these things". Toaster and coffee maker did not have long enough cords to connect to outlets without being put in the sink. Sink could of used a covering board to provide extra counter space. No detergent for dishes supplied.

Charged us extra money for the damage we didn't cause, even after we showed the pic with same damage, that was taken on the day we picked up the RV!!! We rented a small rice cooker, while they charged us the money for a large rice cooker, and we never got refund for that.

We've rented two years in a row, same sized mobile home (28 ft). Customer service is excellent - whether you're calling or in person, the people are friendly and helpful. This year our unit had 22K+ miles and it showed. It was much louder and was showing wear. I would not hesitate to rent here again; I would ask for a newer unit.

Rented a Four Winds about 27 feet long. Staff was friendly and helpful. Very timely pick-up and drop off at airport. Be aware that when you rent a unit you are assigned a time to pick it up and and drop it off. Make sure these times fit your plans. Unit was fairly clean, but probably could have used an extra half hour to do a better cleaning. I would not rent a Four Winds again, at least model I got. Storage compartment were very difficult to access, too high, or had to reach over bed, 'night stand' to access. Toilet was very high off floor, I am 6'2" and my feet did not touch floor when sitting on toilet, cut off circulation to feet. No problem with Ford cab. Easy to drive and plenty of power.

We have used Great Alaskan Holidays for every trip we have made to Alaska over the last 10 -15 years. This last rental was not a great experience. It was not terrible just not the quality we were used to in the past. The couch cushion was so thin you could clearly feel the supports. It was very uncomfortable and a new unit. The paneling was partially separating on the wall. The pillows were paper thin. The radio stopped working after the first day and the backup camera failed. After discussing this with staff they respond with "we are not buying those units next year" and you owe us 25.00 more dollars for some extra milage you put in. Not the quality we usually anticipate. We had a great time over all just disappointing.

THis was our first time using Great Alaskan Holidays. The on- line process was quick and simple with multiple choices to make our trip in Alaska the very best! We arrived after hours, but no worries, they had our name on our RV, so all we had to do was climb in, unpack and go to bed. The crew was extremely helpful and informative through the process, which took no time at all. Upon return of our RV again we stayed in the parking area over night giving us time to relax and pack our bags. Two more great things, there was a gentlemen who came to our door in the morning to check on us and let us know when we were ready to go he would take the RV, the best part of this that man was mauled by our five year old grandson showing and talking about mine craft. This man got into the game with him which made even the grandsons morning. If your wondering about gas, we had the RV for over two weeks went over 2,400 miles. We were figuring a hundred dollars a day, surprise!!! Just over 400.00. There is one more plus about Great Alaskan Holidays, they give a military discount, not only them but most every place we stopped did just that. THANK YOU GREAT ALASKAN HOLIDAYS AND ALL OF ALASKA FOR giving us a most wonderful vacation experience ever!! Will do this again.

RV is comfortable, and it was wonderful to have all the amenities right along with us on our trip. It is quite loud while driving down the road and I would recommend bringing clips to keep the shades from bouncing around and drawer / shelf liner to keep the dishes and utensils from clattering. Also be sure all the shades work in the RV otherwise you will not have privacy at night when the lights are on. (We were told the shade did not work but did not realize the full implications of that) it was a great experience and the people were very nice to work with from beginning to end. The RV was very clean we had lots of towels and blankets, etc. I would definitely recommend and rent from them again!

Good and bad things. Bad things: check everything beforehand, because our hose to connect water was given to us broken. The worst thing is that you have to make sure that you fill the gas tank when you return the caravan. We did not do it that way and they wanted to charge us double the amount of gas that was missing, and they warn you that they charge double the price of any gas station. Be careful because they will try to charge more than what is contracted in this section if you do not have a full tank. Also the boss is very very unfriendly. Good things: the caravan is in good condition and, if you do not speak English as well as we do, a Mexican gentleman called Antonio, who is an example of customer service and we can only say that it was a great help and a person who elevates the prestige of the company

All-around very smooth experience. Very professionally run place, although the intro video scared the heck out of me. (Re: complexity of operating an RV). At the end of the day, everything went smoothly with no damage, while I found the collision insurance rates to be reasonable. Had a great time, would go back!

Our GAH RV rental was amazing. We had four adults in the 31 ft. Minnie Winnie and we just the right amount of space. The RV was easy to drive and all of the amenities - kitchen, shower, storage, fridge, etc. - made our trip very convenient. We parked at turnouts with incredible views. Very smooth operation. Best RV rental prices in Anchorage. Overall nice vehicles. Had a few issues arise (e.g. Small roof leak, broken latch preventing the coach door from opening, etc.), which could not be corrected during our trip because we were remote in Denali. Will rent from GAH again when in Alaska in the future, but will give more scrutiny to vehicle condition prior to departing.

The staff were professional, the vehicle was in good condition and easy to drive. We hired the cheapest propane grill and it couldn't be used as it wouldn't generate enough heat. We love traveling in an RV as the kids are not all squashed in the backseat like they would be in a normal car. It's awesome to pull over anywhere and have lunch. We found some nice lake spots and short hikes where we would pull over.

Overall happy with our rv rental! We did experience a flat while renting it, but dont expect them to fix it, we called and was told where to find all the tools and the tire. Our hot water heater only worked on gas, not electric, which it was suppose to work on both, but they didnt charge us for the propane fill up which was fair.

First this has been a great experience so far for our week in Alaska. We are experienced campers and this experience with rv rental from Great Alaska Holiday has been great. A few pieces of advice that I wish I had thought of or known. -buy camp chairs. The ones you rent are small and more for a small adult/teenager. -plan to buy pillows.. -pots & pans are in good shape, but small. To small for family cooking. I ended up purchasing a set of 3 frying pans from Walmart for $17. I also purchased, tea pitcher, & a Teflon spatula. The biggest thing I wish I had known was that staying on their property the first night would be loud and you wouldn’t get much sleep. People were coming in at all hours of the night loading their RVs, slamming doors and making lots of noise. There is also a whole lot of road noise from traffic. There were a lot of motorcycles all night long gunning their engines at the light by this property. So know if you stay on property overnight you will probably get very little sleep. Other than that, I’d rent again. Staff was excellent and very nice. Service was fast. They even opened up early to accommodate all the people. We were in and out in no time.

My son and I exhaustively research for the best value each year and always come back to Great Alaskan Holidays. An outstanding experience, just like Alaska. Clean, new and easy to use product. Helpful, knowledgeable staff, none of their competitors are in the same class. Stress free arrival- shuttle pickup at the airport, pleasant drivers (Debbie, Theron), lots of room. Top tier support during rental- Years ago, when we were RV "greenhorns", support calls during a rental promptly connected to the most patient support techs, carefully walking us through simple procedures like operating a refrigerator, finding a pilot light, dumping sequence... If this is your first rental, don't worry, they know how to build a successful vacation experience. Stress free return- Two or three men with no female supervision for multiple weeks isn't pretty , never a penalty for reasonable cleaning or a missing(maybe broken) cup. In 2017, GAH was experiencing quality issues with one of their vendors, those issues and our inconvenience were resolved to our expectations. I suspect they will not have another vendor issue like that. Our 2019 rental was perfect end to end. Thus, the consistent, professional performance is worthy of a good review. Vacations are stressful enough, don't worry about the RV.

My husband, his cousin and his wife rented a 30D Four Winds from you in July this year! What a great way to see Alaska! We recommend Great Alaskan Holidays to anyone wanting to travel this way through Alaska, the motorhome was in excellent shape and very clean. It comes with all the basics you would need on your trip. They were very friendly and helpful, we had a few questions before we left and they answered them all. We had no issues with the motorhome while on our trip and we put on about 1500 miles in 7 days! When we returned, it went so smoothly and we received all of our deposit back. They also offer a ride to and from the airport for free. It was a once in a lifetime trip and if and when we come back and need a motorhome we will book with Great Alaskan Holidays again!

Great company and good experience. Everyone was organized and professional. I noticed another person commented on the dangerous step between the bedroom area and the living area. The flooring is the same on both levels. We took some blue painters tape and laid a strip across the step. I suggest that GAH add a safety strip of colored tape across the step.

This was my third time renting from Great Alaskan Holidays. They just keep getting better and better. The RV's have always been great, but the real improvement I saw this year was their efficiency. The improved the check in process by allowing repeat customers to view the orientation video online prior to arriving at GAH for pickup. This saves a good 45 minutes of time at pickup. The second improvement was that GAH moved the RV return outside. This reduces the crowding inside and made the RV return process very efficient. A brief inspection by GAH, some minor paperwork, and you are loading into shuttle to head to the airport. The RV return lady was top notch she was there both when we arrived for pickup and for our return. She was able to share real world experience with some hiking and fishing in Alaska. She was very pleasant to talk to. We will be back again next year for year #4

Lisa made check in, orientation and check out as pleasurable as those things can be. The RV was practically new, with only 9000 miles on it. It ran great with plenty of power from the V-10 Ford. Everything worked well, nothing was broken or damaged. Reasonable price and great customer service. Overall, a great company to do business with.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We just returned from our Alaskan vacation. We would highly recommend using Great Alaskan Holidays for your RV rental. The RV was clean and well maintained. This was our first RV trip and we will do it again! The prices were incredibly affordable and using an RV in Alaska is the way to go - so convenient! We had lots of fishing equipment and it was great not having to haul it in and out of hotels. We just parked the RV and opened the hatch and started fishing. Our only suggestions would be for them to send you a link to the safety/equipment video to watch prior to your trip so your check-in could be a bit faster and for them to have a shelf in their lobby where you could leave extra items from your trip for other customers to grab (non-perishables, tin foil, paper towel, etc.). GAH was awesome to work with and the free shuttle to and from the airport was perfect. We will use them again when we come to check out the Kenai area next!

Great experience! The staff is courteous and professional, there is always someone available to help when you arrive. They offer an overnight stay in their lot for after business hours arrival and prepaid gas/propane etc. The RVs are clean, new and in excellent condition. It’s really the part about you requesting a monetary payment (and x2), and in exchange, offering to remove a low-rating public forum post that has already been published that makes us uncomfortable. Bob Johnson Director of Marketing - Great Alaskan Holidays Hi Bob, Your response on goggle said to engage offline however there was no email details to contact you within the reply. That is what I meant about finding me on file instead of trying to figure out how to contact you. We are now talking so it’s all fine. My resolution would be to refund the difference quoted on the phone not once, but twice. I would be happy to remove my review should this be refunded. I think this is fair and right and moving forward your sales staff should be advising customers over the phone, plus taxes of ex amount. My decision to book Great Alaskan Holidays was based on the type of vehicle and price, which I researched between two companies. The other company would have been much more reasonably priced and doubt we would have received the comedy of errors when we collected our vehicle which was a horrific experience on our first day in the region, I have never experienced anything like it, and for one of your staff to step in and take over from their supervisor speaks volumes. She clearly had no idea or training in how to handle a complaint and whilst we were calm and reasonable it seemed to escalate very quickly. Not the welcome to Alaska we were expecting. I consider our time and experience valuable and to say that Great Alaskan Holidays was our only negative experience in the whole of our USA and Canada is not something to take lightly. I have spent over 17 years as a Travel Manager and this was the worse supplier based experience even with the extensive travel and hundreds of familiarisations. We are not serial complainers and think that Great Alaskan Holidays should right their wrong. Renee Despicable service and was misquoted over the phone. Was not told PLUS taxes and fees so the cost of our camper went from $450 to $900 over a 3 day hire (no joke) at the time of collection and had no choice but to wear it! this is after being sent away and told we could not do our paperwork until it was hire time and then check in took over 45 minutes and we had the rudest service I have ever experienced.. when we bought up the rates we were told with attitude plus... ‘check the your emails’ and they could not get their head around why it’s not right to quote a rate over the phone and then something different when you check in. Nothing but argument and attitude when we were being polite and reasonable. Another staff member had to step in to help us as she could see it getting out of hand. (The only person with any sense and service) when they keys were handed over were perplexed that we hadn’t been shown anything to find out they missed us From the video so then had to sit through that for a further 20 minutes. It took over two hours to pick up the camper!! So every time you collect your camper you loose time! D.. Upon the return we spoke to the owner... Even the horrid girl who was incredibly rude to us had spoken to her manger about how badly she handled it... we got an apology from the owner and nothing more. Not worth our breath! Well done Great Alaskan Holidays for ruining our first day in Anchorage and giving ya the worst service we have received in the US overall! - should be called Rip Off and Rude Alaskan Holidays .

My wife and I and 4 another friends visited Alaska for the first time, and had great experiences renting the RV until very end and been charged $250 (we purchased the additional insurance) for a very small scratch (less than 1/2 inch) on the rare trim that is above eye sight. I wouldn’t complain if we did the damage and it is just unfairly priced for repair. However, one of my friends found a picture took right after we picked up the rental showing the damage was already there (although we had to zoom in extremely to observe it since it was so small). In matter of fact, during the walk around, we already found multiple obvious damages that wasn’t marked on the document. Called in and talked to a manager about the issue, she made no effort to assist, instead just rudely responded that ‘it is your problem’. If you ever want to rent from this place, make sure you reserve yourself at least 2 hrs to check every bit of ‘damage’ and mark everything before you leave the lot, because they spent no effort to check it before hand you the key, but will find every possible way to charge you when you return. It is an awful way to end your otherwise great vacation and memory. And further more, great business history brought you fortune, but also the challenge to maintain your heritage. Believe or not, businesses do not last forever, especially when they become big and ignore what customer says. Now before you apologize without acknowledge the truth or make it right, I'm sincerely ask you to do your research before posting, and I invite you to post pictures of the damage as well as your invoice of fixing the damage. It is great that you read and response each review online, but covering the truth with heartless polite is not how you'll win your customer back.

We had a great 10 day trip! We felt Great Alaskan Holidays and their staff were very professional to deal with. The RV worked great for our needs, the only reason I didnt give 5 stars is that I felt that the motorhome cushions and seats were dirty and that they should steam clean them more often than they probably do as they rent out back to back. Other than that, we would rent from them again.

We had a wonderful experience in Alaska. The Motorhome ran fantastic, and was in good shape. The only reason I gave it a 4 was what was stocked in the motorhome. No dish washing soap, only one roll of toilet paper, and limited cooking utensils. No garbage bags. This would not deter me from using them again, but we are more aware of what we need to purchase once getting the motor home.

We arrived 11am, 15mins earlier and follow check in procedure, watch orientation video and paid additional $70 to extend last day return from 11am till 1pm or we will be charged $125 per hour delay. However, the RV is not ready until 12:40 as the counter said the previous renter broken windshield they need to repair. I don't feel this double standard is fair to the consumer and why the 2nd renter ahoukd absorbe the delay schedule.

The team at GAH was great to work with from the time the reservation was made. We came in on our flight after hours, and they worked with us so that we could stay on the lot in our reserved motorhome. Upon arrival, the refrigerator was already cold and water was available. We had our orientation the following morning and were able to hit the road early. The motorhome was clean, well stocked, and everything worked. We chose to fill up with gas before our return and have them cover the propane. We had no issues. We returned our rental, and again, since our flight was a few hours later, after hours- the staff gladly let us stay on the lot until it was time for us to depart to the airport. I highly recommend using GAH for a motorhome rental and I know we'll definitely refer anyone who is planning a trip. We'll use GAH everytime!

This is probably the biggest RV rental company in Alaska and that was why we went with them but our experience was not so great. On July 6, 2019 we rented two RVs with this company for two weeks, one of the RVs with multiple problems, including not working microwave, not working stove, the faucet in the bathroom and the shower head was working poorly, we called for help on the first day afternoon when we got to Talkeetna campground but was told the next place we might get some help was at Fairbanks, Arctic RV rental, yes we made it there finally and most of the problems was fixed, thanks to the Arctic RV rental, the microwave remains not working. On the day before we returned, I called to find out the exact time to turn in both RVs, I was told it was 11:30am, we drove into the parking lot at 11:20am, there’s only one employee there to check us in so our second RV had to wait, therefore, the arrival time on our receipt showed the first RV arrived at 11:25am and the second RV arrived at 11:44am, the funny thing was the first RV got a late charge of $120, why? nobody knows, the only reason we can think of was maybe because we asked them to consider a small discount for the people on the first RV not being able to use shower and stove for five days and this request upset the manager? after a thirty minute fight we got the late charge waved, and the manager told us the RV has no problems whatsoever, it was us not knowing how to us it. To the people that come to this company, check EVERY single item before you leave the parking lot, after that you’re on your own and based on the way how they treat their customers, don’t buy any insurance from them, because you just don’t have enough time to check all the fine prints before choosing the insurance options, and you simply cannot trust them will do the right things when anything bad happens to you or their RVs The state of Alaska is amazing, we will go back again, but for Great Alaskan Holidys? think twice before you go.

Really enjoyed our trip to Alaska. Our RV worked well. However, if you are using a RV for the first time, Great Alaskan Holidays may not be your first choice. They show a short video and send you on your way after a lot of high pressure selling on additional insurance (which if you check has many limitations that make it only marginally better than nothing). Our RV had dirty utensils, a black water tank that never read less than 2/3 full (despite repeated flushing - we found out how to do this on YouTube) and little to tell us how to use all of the equipment (the video was generic and did not cover much of your RV's specific features). Great Alaskan Holidays staff was focused on selling and not on making sure that the renter understood how to use what they got. Again, if you have RV experience, this probably isn't going to be a problem. If you don't have RV experience, plan on using YouTube a lot.

I came to this place because of “good “ reviews.Be sure to check some non-5 star reviews before you make your purchase decision.Those are more helpful than some 5- star “big-word” reviews. We had an amazing experience in Alaska however our RV return process was really unpleasant. The staff was rude and unreasonable.Please Check some other one star reviews. We actually have similar experience and this will help you make decisions. So here is the story. They charged us $ 250 as they claimed that rear luggage door was damaged and this was our responsibility. Actually, this is definitely an a accumulated damage.Because of the bad design, every customer who rented this RV created an additional damage of it. When we rented this RV, the accumulated damage showed up. The forced us to pay the replacement of it.They initially even asked us for $ 770 to get it replaced. I suggest anyone who is planning to rent their RV, please be careful about this. Take a picture before you start your journey or simply bypass this overrated place. The damage charging is totally a trap! Check my picture below to make sure you avoid this trouble.

What an outstanding company to do business with. From the moment we walked through the door they were extremely professional and courteous. I didn’t feel like I was nickel and dimed on up charges. I wasn’t terribly excited about watching a pre-video before going on my journey, however, after watching it I was glad I did. Definitely gave me knowledge of what to look for and how to use the components of the RV. Check out and check in were seamless without any delay or long lines to stand in. They immediately loaded up my family’s bags and brought us back to the airport in a very nice and clean shuttle van at no additional charge. There are other RV rental companies in Anchorage but by far I passed more Great Alaskan Holiday RV’s on the road than any other.

We spent 18 fabulous days on the road in our 31' Winnebago. We were fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in the Spring Adventure Package through Great Alaskan Holidays. This was the trip of a lifetime for my husband and I. At each turn, we would look at each other and ask ourselves if this was a dream! The coach was very roomy and had lots of storage. Each night we had a hot shower and a warm home. We enjoyed all of our meals cooking in our kitchen, surrounded by the beauty of Alaska. The experience of staying in the magnificent land of Canada and Alaska without ever having to move suitcases and gear from place to place was the best reason ever to travel in an RV. We saw so many gorgeous places that most people who take a tour bus never get to see. I cannot say enough about the fabulous staff at Great Alaskan Holidays. They answered any question we had and were always cheerful and helpful. We give Great Alaskan Holidays the highest rating. Wishing everyone could experience an unforgettable trip such as ours!

Great experience! We arrived on a Friday at a busy time for the companies front desk and we were delayed in getting out on the road as soon as we had planned due to the amount of customers they were serving however because of the delay we asked our customer service representative Lisa and she was able to extended the time for the return of the RV for two additional hours. Lisa and the entire staff was very friendly and the customer service was great. The RV was clean and met our expectations and we did not have any problems at all. I would recommend taking your time driving and adjust to the size of an RV if you have not driven a larger vehicle in awhile. This year I would also recommend that you not plan on wood fires in Alaska as there are so many forest fires in the state, rent the gas grill for cooking outside. Great company!

This review is not highly disputable you yourself just looked up and found when you guys banned me for no reason whatsoever we never damaged any equipment we never brought the motor homes back in lesser shape then we got it in. You guys just didn’t like the fact that I was honest in the condition of the motorhomes that we have rented. You cannot justifiably say that you banned us for anything more than bringing to your attention problems with the equipment damages that we had to put up with on the coaches that we rented and things of that nature. If you look it up you’ll find it this is not highly disputable but the fact we still have pictures of the damages of our coaches as we took pictures. One star is too much for this company but the site made me put at least one star. We used great Alaskan vacations for many years becaise they used to be one of the better rental agencies for motorhomes. We used to bring good business to them. We worked with Bob Johnson on these issues, and we did not get any where. Apparently because of the way that they treated apparently they want people to rent from them and not ask any questions and not to point out any issues whatsoever. We were very pleasant on the things that we did bring to their attention and we were very patient as it many times the issues took away from part of our vacation. That they banned us. Wow! We exercised a great amount of patience as we encountered many problems on our different trips from things falling apart to not working right and damage to the motor homes before we even left the parking lot on our trip. Then we went to rent from them this last time a few years ago and they had put us on a banned list and will no longer rent to us just because we brought damages, things not working right and things falling apart on their motorhomes to their attention before we left the lot. The owners would not even talk to us about this banning issue. They would rather not talk with us than to take constructive comments from customers. Rather than taking care of us this company wanted to ban us from renting from them just because we were honest with them on the conditions of their motorhomes and customer service. Frankly if we owned a motorhome rental company we would consider the opinions of all customers to be valuable in making us a better company. This is the first time this has ever happened to us, we have never been banned from renting anything and have a excellent credit , reputation in how we treat the things we rent. And we had usually rented weekly on things like cars and many other things. So I guess the moral of the story is consider carefully who you rent from because the experience you have through a rental company can affect the experience that you have in Alaska. We love Alaska and its residents and have been going there for 30 years we are just more careful now who we work with.

Overall a good experience with our 2nd time renting from GAH. Few issues to mention: 1. Shuttle service is slow and was understaffed. They only had one running the afternoon of our return so we waited about 1/2 hour just for the shuttle. This was after our return process of another 45 minutes. Another group had to wait for our driver to return to pick them up. 2. Check in/check out are very slow procedures. Seems they could speed it up by having people watch the video online and taking a quick test rather than spend 1/2 hour watching the video. Then they go over all their insurance scare tactics trying to sell you more. We wanted to get our vacation started, not spend time in the showroom! Another suggestion would be to allow the people in the party who are not doing the orientation to access the RV to start getting unpacked and organized. Everyone is just sitting around waiting for the orientation to be done, which is over an hour long. Way too long!!! 3. They don't give jacks anymore so the RV is not very stable when everyone is in there moving around. Also makes it hard to level and the instructions emphasize how important leveling is for the refrigerator. 4. There are only a few hooks in the bathroom so nowhere to hang additional towels or other items. Extra hooks throughout the RV would be very helpful. All of this said, we had a great time and would recommend renting an RV for a great Alaskan vacation!

Great experience! From beginning to end this was a great experience. We arrived early and they picked us up and set us up with an earlier time. Everything was in top notch order. We struggled a little trying to figure out how to work a couple of things, as this was our first RV experience. The video is very basic...how not to crash and your rv is bigger than you think. Spend a few minutes sitting in it before you leave. Will save you time later....The guy at the counter was polite, the return lady the same. It has been an awful experience renting a rv from this company. They charged us for "damage" that could barely be seen, even though we could prove that the damage is there by the time of check in. The orientation guy did a very rough exam of the car and didn't notice some of the cracks on the door until we mentioned. However, when we returned the vehicle, they told us that there is "damage" at the back of the car. The "damage" is so minor that we could barely see when she pointed out. We found pictures of the RV by the time of check in and found exactly same damage in the picture, yet they refuse to admit the damage is originally there. We got charged of 250 dollars since we have the collision wavier. I highly suspect that the exact same "damage" will be charged on multiple customers and they never fix it. So MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR VEHICLE FROM ALL ANGLES before you take it! Among all the rental companies I rented cars from, this is the first one that use fraud to earn extra money.

The RV was new, clean and we only had one minor issue that we were able to fix via phone instruction. We had the most amazing vacation and renting from GAH was a great choice. Except for the guy(Don't know the name) who was rude to us on our return(checkout) process I would have given a better rating. We had some issues with the RV with the kitchen sink leaking, but they tried to fix it asap, I appreciate for the effort. We also had sensors not working for Black/Gray tanks. I understand he was upset with how we returned the RV by not cleaning(1 bag of trash altogether), but there is something in the frequently asked section “We do the cleaning”. At the time of check out I offered the final gas receipt which was mentioned as mandatory and all the guy who was helping in checkout said was "I don't need anything" in a rude way looking away from my face. Hope someone else helped me in checkout that day. That's not how I wanted to end my vacation at all. The gal went back in, turned the computer back on and found us two of the three parts we need. Not once did she act like we were inconveniencing her. The whole place was clean and everyone we encountered was polite and professional. The parts/accessories store was small but clean, well organized, and carried a good variety of products. I know nothing of their rental fleet, but based on what we experienced I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Our RV exceeded our expectations. Like new, clean, and spacious. It definitely accommodated our family. Staff was friendly. Service was exceptional. To all of these things, I give the RVAK a 5 star. However, I have to give an overall 3 star rating b/c of not having after-hour drop off. Our flight did not depart till after 1am. We had to drop the RV's off 12 hours prior. We essentially lost 12 daytime hours of vacation before we ever departed for home. There were 19 of us (4 RV's) so this amounted to too much lost vacation days. With 2 weeks of vacation per year, no one wants to sit in an airport for 12 hours when they could be touring the beautiful Alaskan countryside. Please consider after hour drop off like other rental agencies.

We had a great experience with an RV we hired for 4 weeks. They picked us up from the airport within 15 minutes. The check-in was very easy and the staff was friendly. We arrived a bit early, so our RV was not ready yet. We had to wait, which was fine, but it might have been more efficient to watch the 30-minute video in this time, instead of when the RV was completely cleaned. However, the video is informative and might be very helpful for first time RV-renters. We had a small issue with the vehicle, but it was quickly fixed by the staff. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend it to others.

We spent 3 weeks in a 28ft, sharing with another couple, which meant that it was a bit crowded and lacking in privacy, but we had a great time and the RV proved to be a good way to travel around Alaska and in to Canada. Driving was easier and more comfortable than I expected but you do have to be careful when turning - the turning circle is very poor. Petrol (gas) consumption is high. We filled the tank 4 times over 1600 miles. The staff at Great Alaskan were very helpful, both before and after the trip.

We were able to set up our rental by phone in minutes after I viewed the website. Our check in and check out were equally as fast and easy. This is the only way to see Alaska. The motor home was clean and well kept. Their supplies were excellant and their resource book was able to answer all the questions we had. We are planning our next trip and will use them again. This was our second trip to Alaska and by far the best. We loved having the freedom of the RV (24 ft) to stop where ever we wanted and go where ever our hearts took us. The RV was clean and the staff was great. They took the time to answer all our questions as this was our very first time in an RV. I only gave four stars because we had a couple minor problems. The cabin door was sticky and it was tough for both of us to operate to close and lock / unlock. Our water heater worked for one night and then broke. The technician who my husband spoke with was very helpful and was quick to call us back, unfortunately there was nothing he could do over the phone and wanted us to go to a repair shop in Fairbanks. Our time was limited there and we didn't want to take any time away from our experience. If I could give 4 and 1/2, I would. RENTERS BEWARE!!!! THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!!!! Go to a small RV rental that will take care of you, as this place needs to feed business into their own service department. Yes they have good prices on rv rentals, but that is not the price you should expect to pay! When we brought the rv back there was a 4 inch crack in the windshield directly in line with the windshield wiper. We were extremely careful not to follow any cars on the highway, and believe this was a rock chip from the people before us, but developed into a crack while we had it. Well that windshield cost us $535 for repair. This price is absolutely ridiculous. More than half of the cost is labor for their own people to throw in a windshield. Charging us $145 an hour at 2 hours for the job. We believe they probably won't even replace the windshield as it is not against the law in Alaska to have drive with a cracked windshield, and will probably do the same thing to whoever gets the rv behind us. Dont let this sheisty corporate company scam you as well. We will be reporting to BBB, and plan on blasting this company until we are heard.

Viewing Alaska in an RV was the perfect way to get up close & personal with Alaskan Wilderness! Our RV was very roomy & in brand new condition - couldn’t have asked for better. We did not experience one issue with the RV the entire 10 days. Not to mention there is no way we could have stayed in hotels for the price or convenience! Plus the guys loved not having to stop 15 times at rest stops for us ladies! The only downside I could say is the front cabin bed was extremely uncomfortable. After one night we realized we just couldn’t spend the rest of the trip this uncomfortable. We went to Walmart & spent $60 on a 2 inch pad. Worked like a charm. Bad thing is, we couldn’t bring it back on the plane so we had to give it away. At the end of our trip we went back to the WalMart parking lot to find another RV vacationer & unloaded all of our unused supplies. Great vacation & experience! Will certainly try RVing it at our next vacation spot! Tip: we didn’t realize generators could not be ran during certain hours, “quiet hours.” The first night we sleep in our RV inside the Great Alaskan Holiday parking lot. (Another wonderful thing about them - we didn’t arrive til after they closed. They had the RV ready & waiting, gave us instructions how to find it & keys to get in. ) We turned the generator on to have A/C - it was after 10:30 (who knew because it was light outside!) and got a rap tap on the door to turn it off! They weren’t very happy with us! So, read the nice note located right by the generator on/off button!! Oops! We were a little embarrassed but learned quickly to look for each parks “quiet hours.”

I rented a 30D motorhome for 10 days while I was on vacation in Alaska recently. The process of getting and returning the motorhome was great and everything went very smoothly. The staffs (Teri and Natasha) who had assisted me throughout the rental period were very professional, helpful and polite. The motorhome is quite spacious when both left and right sliders are extended. The microwave in the motorhome was dirty and oily and the worst part was that I only found out after the motorhome left the lot. I wish I would have discovered it earlier. Water started leaking out from the underneath the cabinet below kitchen sink on the 3rd day of my rental period and the leak worsen over time. Many bath towels were used to keep flooring dry and my family was unable to use fresh water system as frequent because water keeps coming out from under the cabinet as soon as the water supply system is been pressurized. We only used the water for sanitary purpose. I called the company and was told that the only way to fix the leak was to bring the RV back to them. The company do not have authorized repair center outside of Anchorage and they could not come to me. I have no choice but to cancel my RV park booking for the next day , lose the booking fee and spend about 8 hrs to drive approximately 500 miles back to them in the mid of my vacation to have the problem fix. Fortunately the mechanic (Andrew) was able to expeditiously fix the leak and send me on my way again. The mechanic also resupplied me with 2 set of towel. The counter staffs also reassured me the incident will be put on file and that the company will make the situation right. At the end of my vacation when I returned my motorhome, Great Alaskan Holiday RV compensated me with 1 day of rental for the time and the gas used to bring the RV back for a fix, and the loss of use of the fresh water and kitchen area which was deemed non-critical and the inconveniences the leak has caused me and my family. I think the company could have make my rental experience a better one if they would also consider the above and reimbursing a little more for the gas.

This was our second time renting a 30 foot RV from Great Alaskan Holiday and the high standard of providing excellent service at arrival and drop off as well as the condition of the RV fully met our expectations. The shuttle service from/to the airport was timely. All of the reserved "extras" (lawn chairs, bbq grill, toaster, coffee maker, linens) were all in the RV when we picked it up. Having the opportunity to view the orientation video prior to arrival sped up the pick up process. Also not needing to "dump and fill" the RV prior to returning made our final morning less hectic. We will definitely rent from Great Alaskan Holidays again (we DO plan to return within a few years)!

We rented an RV from GAH for 8 nights (the 24ft Minnie Winnie) and could not have gone better. The induction was brilliant, informative and we asked all the questions we had. It was so great having all the towels, bedding and cutlery etc built into the package of the RV rental. We had no issues with the vehicle, spotlessly clean, very new and modern, unlimited generator use and shower actually not too bad especially given it was just a pump from the tank. Returning the RV almost empty of water and petrol and without having to dump the black/grey waste was very handy! Nothing to worry about on the last day before returning. The return itself was also quick and the checks were done there and then in person. My $500 deposit was released instantly and there were no issues or extra costs. Could not speak higher of this company!!

From reservation to return of the RV, everything was exceptional: customer service, orientation, and the vehicle. We used the after hours pickup feature, which was fabulous, as we arrived in Anchorage late and were the first orientation in the morning. Kitchen was equipped with everything we needed and bed was very comfortable.

This company was great. They did an orientation that made us feel comfortable with the RV (and we had never driven or rented one before). Most everything you need for cooking, towels, etc are in the RV. They are really nice RV's and up to date. The whole rental process was easy and return was super easy as well. And it was the best way to experience Alaska! Tips: Get the extra insurance (you may want to skimp on it and not get it, but you will probably end up with a chip in the windshield and it's worth it just for that. Alaska roads in the summer have lots of road construction with gravel at times, so chips can happen. But the roads were never too bad to drive an RV and were wider than we thought) Get these items not included when you head to the store: hand soap, dish soap, extra toilet paper, paper towels, foil/saran wrap, garbage bags, a small thing of cleaning wipes, and sandwich bags for storing stuff)

My wife and I recently rented a RV for a seven day trip around Alaska. I have nothing but good things to say about Great Alaskan Holidays. From online reservation, airport pickup and drop off, checkout, the rental period and check in the process was seamless and professional. The vehicle was very clean and ready to go just after we got there. If this is your first RV rental you need to expect a steep learning curve the first few days but that is a function of the RV not the leasing company. I only had one minor issue the entire period that was dealt with quickly over the phone by a technician who was on call during the evening. Were I in need of an RV in Alaska again I would not hesitate to go through Great Alaskan Holidays.

The RVs are clean and everything works. They have videos to watch so people who aren't used to driving those vehicles know what to do. The prices are reasonable unless you're having to add and pay for their extra insurance then it makes the price go up considerably. I'm glad we rented through them and I'll be using them again next year.

Amazing company, great RV fully stocked and ready to explore Alaska. We rented one of the Minnie Winnie RV's for a week of traveling between Anchorage and Seward. The RV was clean and nearly brand new - all items were stocked and ready when we arrived. 30 minute orientation video, pretty important if you've never driven an RV or trailer. The service center was expeditious and fast on the check out/in... Loved traveling through Alaska with this mini home on wheels. The shuttle only runs between Great Alaskan Holidays and the airport, so if you plan to stay in a hotel after returning your RV make a plan for alternate transportation. Thank you Great Alaskan Holidays for making this trip a breeze - we will be back!

Got New Clean 2018 Rental Vehicle. This was my first time experience with RV, Orientation video was helpful and staff explained all the details and questions. Pick up and Drop off process was smooth. They took care of cleaning , so you dont have to cleanup the last day, we can leave the Thrash bag and unused stuff , they will take care of cleaning.

Eight years ago we rented from G.A.H. and had a bad experience and I wrote a poor review. We were back in Alaska this summer and decided to give them another chance. This time everything went smooth and effortlessly. The RV worked perfectly (including the generator and storage batteries which were the culprit 8 years ago). I was very impressed and would not hesitate to rent from them again. We had a great family vacation and I apologize for the poor review. For a relatively 'new' rv, the internal of the RV was poorly maintained. Our bed fell apart every night (so all of the trip without good night sleep). In addition the grey water sensor didn't work, so we couldn't stay disconnected for as long as we wanted. Go with another company, you'll have a better experience.

This is an absolutely top notch first class operation. Fully equipped RV's, along with anything else you could possibly need to have an enjoyable camping experience, is available. From fishing poles to rice cookers, just ask the helpful, friendly staff. You can rest assured that the RV you're renting has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized from top to bottom.

Well, for sure it is best rental firm in Alaska but one thing hit me very much: the employees are not very friendly and you don't feel welcomed. It all started with the shuttle driver who didn't even say "Hi" when he picked us up at the airport or replied to our "Bye" (I thought he doesn't speak at all but he was then talking to other staff). On our way back the other driver had back problems so could not help anyone with their lagguage despite the other one standing next to her (I'm young so its not a problem but there were older ppl whom I had to help). When we were returning the RV the guy doing the inspection was also rather impolite (he didn't find anything). It was quite strange as the company is well run and the RVs are very well prepared. Other thing is that the manuals are not always answering all the questions (like we had a switch that was not listed in manual). So in general its 4 stars and if I felt a bit more welcome it would be 5 stars.

The quality of the motorhome is exactly what you see as advertised on the website. Everything on the RV worked well and was in excellent condition. The service provided by the Great Alaskan Holidays staff was fast and efficient. They didn't waste any extra time at pickup or return. You will not be disappointed renting from Great Alaskan Holidays! One bit of advice as an Alaska resident: I recommend purchasing the added CDW insurance. In the past year alone, I have had 3 rocks cause windshield damage to my personal vehicles. With all the dirt roads in this state, there are many all-terrain tires on the road that kick rocks up in the air as they roll down the road. The odds of getting a crack or chip in your windshield are fairly high as compared to other states.

Buyer Beware! We are repeat customers when it comes to buying RV’s from GAH. Our first one we purchased we had no problems at all. Our second one we purchased 3 yrs ago and along with it we purchased an extended warranty (Star RV)(buyer beware). Hoping that if we ever had to use it, it would cover the major things that can go wrong which was according to what our contract stated. We knew our original contract was going to be expiring and decided to purchase another one before it ran out(Protective)(buyer beware). We go out for our first trip of the season and driving down the highway hear a loud boom. At the time we didn’t notice anything that was majorly wrong. We dropped off our RV when we came back to town for some other repairs that we had originally scheduled prior to our trip. They could not see anything wrong, but then they also don’t do work on springs, shocks and struts,etc. They recommended we take it to Alaska Spring and Performance. Once they inspected it, they found that the passenger side spring had flattened out. The recommendation was to replace the springs. So then we contact Star RV and first person spoken too told us that it was a covered benefit. The next two people we spoke too told us it was not covered even though it states that it is under our plan. Then it was on to Protective. They told us we were eligible for the springs to be covered and they wanted one of their representatives to evaluate it. Once this was done, we were informed the next day that it was not going to be covered and that they considered it a pre-existing condition. We requested a denial letter and also asked that our policy be terminated so that we could be refunded our full amount. We also took a copy of this to GAH to make them aware of the situation. I was told by the COO that they have never had anyone cancel their policies. Never the less I asked for their assistance in making sure both policies were cancelled and they did help with getting it done. The moral of this is that if you ever buy an RV from Great Alaskan Holidays do not waste your time and money with the extended warranty. They are not worth the paper they are written on. The unfortunate thing for us as consumers is that these companies represent Great Alaskan Holidays and that doesn’t seem to bother them.

Waited over two hours in lobby area and still don’t have RV rental. Reservations department booked my return day/time wrong and are requiring me to return 9 hours before my flight. Grand total of 12 hours this company is wasting of our Alaska vacation. Shannon the manager was completely rude and upsetting. Offered no help and no solutions. Be prepared to waste tons of money and time before and after your vacation. Zero help. Don’t waste your time renting here

I was nearly turned off by The couple negative reviews I read. I’m very glad I wasn’t. They were professional and courteous. This company rents out tons of RV’s on a daily basis. First time RV'ing (Thor 28Z) and first time in Alaska. Check-in and check-out smooth and pain-free. The operation is professionally run and I will gladly use them on my next visit. Some observations of mine. It's hard to average more than 100 miles per day (especially on a 34 day excursion) thus the "unlimited mileage" premium is usually not cost effective. Take some extra time to really examine your vehicle prior departure to prevent any headaches on return. You will likely not need your generator. I used mine once or twice to microwave popcorn while boondocking. Your black tank indicators will likely over read while the grey tank is more accurate. The house door and all exterior compartments requiring a key are often difficult. Pushing firmly on the compartment or door while turning the key often helps. Prior to your holiday, study the vehicle you plan to rent. I even went to a RV show to get acquainted with the 28Z (it helped a lot.) Most important, have fun!

These folks have a very nice system. Their website was very helpful in explaining everything. All the details were included both on their website and on their email which came shortly before our trip. They had the motor home ready for us to sleep in when we got there after hours. We had a great time in our motor home! We saw hundreds of Great Alaskan Holidays motor homes all over Alaska-i had no idea they had this many! I am sure that if we had damaged something, we would have had to pay for it- but fortunately, this did not happen.

If you wanna travel across Alaska, get an RV & if you decide to get an RV, it’s a no- brainer that you should get it from Great Alaskan Holidays. They are super professional, courteous & thoughtful. Before pick up, we had to watch a safety video. It’s very important to pay attention to that video. If you follow everything you learn there, you will have a hassle- free vacation! We were on road 9 days. 2 out of 3 vehicles were RVs & out of those RV’s 2 out of 3 were from Great Alaskan Holidays! When we returned our RV, the experience was very pleasant. They didn’t try to squeeze every dollar out of you. I’ll be back in Alaska & I’ll rent from them again! Keep up the great work guys! Cheers!
