Agents at the counter do not have any training. They do not care about customer service. They do not know their own product. We had a hell of a time renting from Dollar both at the time of rental and at the time of return. Thank god that management level has some brains and try to address difficult situation for a resolution, but if it was up to the untrained agents at the counter, may God save Dollar which is now part of Hertz.

I wish I could leave less than 1 star. NEVER rent from this company. Nothing but rude employees. Was quoted one price and ended up paying DOUBLE with no explanation. No one explained anything about the contract, or the fact that booking through Expedia is pointless. When I talked to someone upon returning the car, he said "there's nothing we will do, none of your money will be returned and you'll just have to file a small claims complaint."

I booked a trip to Phoenix because I was staying in Peoria for the majority of my trip. I originally got a car but when I arrived the guy behind the counter asked what I was doing on the trip and I explained we are driving to the Grand Canyon and hiking it. He insisted I needed an SUV for the elevation and so I believed him not being from the area. I got the SUV, a 2018 Buick. It was horrible, my wife's car does better in the Smoky's. A few days later I was on my way to Vegas and the oil life warning came on. I called and let them know that I was on my way to Vegas and that was going on and they had me exchange it in Vegas which took about an hour. I got a car from Vegas because I never needed an SUV anyways and I returned it with full gas. They charged me 35 dollars for gas. I called and asked that they keep the original charge since I was deceived and rented a vehicle that wasn't serviced enough to perform and they would not. They will not refund me and this cost me $200 more for something I never needed in the first place. I will not use Dollar, Hertz or Thrifty again.

I had an amazing experience with this car rental company in Phoenix. I rented cars twice and both times had excellent customer service. The first time, I waited no more than 10 minutes (in a decently long line) and then they offered to upgrade me. The second time, I made mistakes in my reservation and they helped me through it with compassion and friendliness. I accidentally booked a minivan (to drive to hike in Sedona) and the person helped me get into another car for not very much money. Then, when I returned the car and realized I hadn't reserved it long enough, I found myself with over $130 in overage fees. The person at the front desk graciously reduced it in half. I really appreciated the great service I got and would strongly recommend them!

Reserved a car months ago. My plane was late and I was unaware that I needed to call them. They cancelled my reservation then charged me an extra 300 dollars to re book ( said they couldn't honor my previous rate and all the car companies were sold out) Will never use again!

Once I realized that I left my social security cards, birth certificate and other documents in the visor of the rental car, I filed a lost and found report the same day I returned the car. I've been keeping in touch with you all weekend and you don't answer my phone calls and sent me an email saying that you can't find my documents. If you don't find my documents I will file a police report on your business and sue you for identity theft!

Dollar always has the best rates so I use it everywhere. All rental agencies try to sell you insurance and prepaid gas and anything else they can,so be careful and check everything before you sign. The taxes and fees at the airports add up to like 50%, which is just ridiculous .

BEWARE!!! CHARGED ME $111 on their website. WOULD NOT RENT VEHICLE WHEN I SHOWED UP AT THE AIRPORT. THEY SAID 24 HOUR WAIT! AND I HAVE NOT BEEN REFUNDED! BEEN OVER A MONTH GETTING THE RUN AROUND! Their 24 hour policy ruined my vacation a bit. 24 hour wait to pick up a car? What difference does that make for them? For me it cost a non refundable hotel reservation that night! And a very disappointed family. Wasted driving an hour there with them all loaded up for a quick vacation to be told come back 24 hours from renting it. They had the vehicle too! LIKE I SAID BEEN OVER A MONTH NO REFUND. OFF SHORE COMPANY!

Unbelievably amazing, quick, easy, and carefree pick-up and return service of a full size car for a great deal. Always picked up the phone to answer any question/concern I had prior to picking up the car after reading all the negative reviews. So glad I chose Dollar Car Rental on the strip v. the airport. Car was waiting for me at my pick-up time without any change to quoted estimated cost, and I was able to just drop off the keys with mileage, amount of fuel/gas and parking location# on Level 5 or 6. Would definitely rent from here, again.

My flight was an hour and a half late, so I arrived 1:00 am. At that time there's a single clerk in the garage kiosk, where of course there's no AC. Temp is 101. So far I've waited more than twenty minutes, in a line of three people: previous customer screwed up in a big way, and the clerk has been trying kindly to fix it. The employee is extremely nice, but the staffing situation worked out as a complete disaster

We did not have an issue with the rental car or how long it took to get the rental car. However, we booked through Expedia and were given a certain amount that we owed after choosing the carseat option. When we arrived at the rental center the amount they charged us was almost $100 more than what Expedia already booked us for. When I asked why the man said because of the carseat. I didn't argue because I was ready to get to the hotel after a long day of traveling. We got to the car in the parking garage, the carseat options were awful. I requested a toddler seat for my one year old. Assuming that I would receive a five point harness toddler carseat. All they had was an infant seat and a booster seat. I had to chose the infant seat because he needs a five point harness, but is too big for the infant seat and too small for the booster seat. The infant seat was a POS and I could have bought a better quality one at Walmart for the same amount they claimed to charge for it. The base of the carseat wouldn't even properly adjust and tighten. The whole carseat was cheap plastic. We ended up not using the rental car and just walking everywhere because we did not feel comfortable using that carseat. The only reason why I am even giving them two stars is because the car was clean.

If you would like to know the details read on: SHOP CAREFULLY- I was quoted $484 on the dollar website and ended up paying almost $600 when I arrived to get the car- what a great way to start a vacation! The clerks and manager at the Phoenix Airport Location said there was nothing they could do about it and told me to call customer service and work it out with them. Of course customer service said it was on the local branch. THIS IS NOT THE WORST PART. After returning the car at the airport check in I was given a receipt and told everything was A-OK. I received an email 7 days after returning the car stating that there were was noticeable damage on the car and I needed to prove what the car looked like before and when I dropped off the vehicle. I have been trying to talk to someone inside Dollar with no luck. This is not how customers should be treated or how companies should do business. I am beyond disappoointed and will be more cautious next time I rent. I will post an update to this review if they decide to make things right.

As others have said, reserving a car means nothing. Had to wait an extra 3 hours for a car. That said, the staff were polite and helpful, and the price was low. Just be aware of what you're signing up for.

I returned my rental with a full tank of gas and they still charged me for gas. The person checking the car out to me never informed me that I had to bring my receipt back to show that I filled the tank. I would use any other rental company. They do not inspect the vehicle with you nor do they check while you are there to see that the tank is full.

I left my prescription sun glasses in the car when I returned it to the airport location in Phoenix around 7:00 pm. First thing the next morning back home in LA I called Dollar and was put on hold an hour. Finally got someone who told me to call another number. Called that number and was told to call another number. Called that number and was told to call another number which was automated and instructed me to leave details regarding the lost item. Once that was done I was given another number to call. I was connected with someone at a call center and asked her if I could get the direct number to the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport location where I had dropped off the car. She gave me a number but warned me that probably no one would answer. She was right. It was the direct number for lost and found at the Phoenix airport location but I just got recording again instructing me to leave the details. A few hours later I got an email saying they didn't find my glasses. There's no way they could have missed the glasses. I left them in a brown eyeglass case right out front near the front console Either their employee stole them from the car (not realizing they were prescription), or they threw them out, or never even looked for them. . ALL THIS TIME, EVEN THOUGH I SPENT ABOUT TWO HOURS ON THE PHONE I NEVER GOT TO SPEAK WITH ANYONE AT THE PHOENIX LOCATION. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. UTTER DISRESPECT FOR THE CUSTOMER. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND DOLLAR TO ANYONE, UNLESS THEY ENJOY THE RUN AROUND, AND PHONY HELP. REMEMBER, STAY AWAY FROM DOLLAR RENT A CAR.

Help! Dollar Rent A Car at Treasure Island Hotel & Casino is not returning calls! We returned our car ON TIME and get messages from Hertz that the car is overdue for return... Waiting for days now to get this resolved. What a nightmare.

I had a great experience with Dollar Car Rental Phoenix, and recommend this office and company. I recently had the absolute WORST car rental experience with E-Z Rent-A-Car at the Phoenix Airport. I wish I had gone back to Dollar for my recent trip, as E-Z Rent-A-Car was terrible (please refer to my review there on Yelp and Google, and avoid them and their partners Fox and Advantage like the plague!). I don't remember the name of my Dollar agent, but it was a hispanic guy with glasses and dark hair. He did a great job. He was very efficient and friendly. My car was clean and had no issues. I waited 15 minutes to rent my car with a small line, which is very fast. Compare that to the 2.5 hour wait I had with E-Z Car Rental at the same car rental center. I had no issues in billing, and actually received a slightly lower rate than what I reserved for in advance. Dollar did not screw me over in any way, or waste my time with junk sales pitches or bad customer service like E-Z Car Rental does (based on my own experience and the majority of their reviews). Andre at the E-Z Car Rental office is great, but he's on a sinking ship as far as his company goes, so hopefully he moves to a better company. I gave Dollar this good review because they deserve it, and I did not have the experience that it seems many others did from the other reviews here.

Jerome at the McCarran Rent-a-Car Center was absolutely rude, belittling, and overall unhelpful. My fiancee and I booked through a third party company, "Just Fly" Mr. Jerome decided to give my fiancee and I his two cents about using such services, talking down to us from the get go. After contradicting himself TWICE about payment options, he charged the incorrect card I specifically told him not to use. When asked to reverse the payment to use the correct card, he only laughed ignoring what I asked. He talked to me like I was a child and he knew best, making my options for me, getting testy with every passing second. Absolutely a terrible experience, either he doesn't know how to fulfill guests' requests or ignores them entirely. If you're next up in line and Jerome is free, I'd suggest waiting for the next attendant, Jerome will just waste your time and your patience.

Don’t do it… I come to PHX all the time and will never EVER rent from Dollar again. My problem is that the “rental confirmation” you receive in advance of the rental and the “final bill” you receive when you return the car never match. This means they will charge you whatever they want regardless of what your confirmation says!!!! On May 1, I was charged over $200 for a confirmed $94 rental. Then it was impossible to get someone on site to help get this fixed, let alone get someone on the phone. This is absolutely intentional… They want to wear you down so it’s not worth your time to fight. This is the THIRD time in a row this has happened to me. No more! I had to get Chase Visa involved, open a case, and have them block the charges.

Not good. Have rented cars at Sky Harbor several times with no issues. The young lady that helped us was not the problem. The fact she was the only one at the counter with a line 10 deep was. No excuse for having customers wait this long for service. When I finally made it to the front, I was told I could not use my pre-loaded debit card. In addition, I opted to fill the tank my self upon return, but was told I had to bring the receipt with me! I assumed the fuel tank being on full would be enough, but I guess not. Will not book with Dollar on subsequent trips to Phoenix...

I hired a mustang convertible for a road trip whilst in Vegas. Booked thru a travel agent, turned up, car was ready fuelled and clean. No hassles with waiting and staff explained all I needed to know. They explained they wouldn't be open when I was due to return the car but told me where to leave the car and leave he keys in a drop box. I was a bit apprehensive about doing that so I took photos of the car and its condition when I left it so I didn't cop any surprises in the mail about damage or the condition of the car on its return. Overall it was a simple transaction and no problems. Im going back to vegas again next March and will use them again.

Reserved on Priceline for a month. Francisco, at the counter, was simply awful to deal with. He argued that we had to have full insurance proof from our personal car insurance company. He literally argued with us that he wasn't going to 'give' us one of 'his' cars without proof we had car insurance for our personal car. I called corporate who confirmed he was wrong. I called the manager. Manager finally got Francisco to accept the reservation. We asked to extend for another month. Francisco told us we could only extend for 2 weeks at the time; charged us more than our existing reservation. Then we called to extend for the full month. Richard, another employee, who was nice and knew the process said 'no problem' extended the reservation. I asked Richard that because we wanted to rent for another 30 days at the end of the existing time, would there be any problem doing so. Richard said no, not at all. Richard tells us we will get the same rate we'll just sign a new contract. Today, I called to say we would want to extend again. Jenny helped me. She told me there would be no problem, just come in and sign the new contract. We get a call from Francisco saying we had to have given a week's notice that we wanted to extend. He makes up rules to please himself, no rhyme nor reason. And, frankly, even with such a ridiculous assertion, I had told Richard we would extend two weeks ago. Francisco said we couldn't have the car again because we hadn't given a week's notice. We took the car back in. Jenny was sitting there - while Francisco was arguing with us, she said under her breath that there wasn't a problem extending the rental but she was staying out of this. What the heck!?! Francisco should NOT be working at the counter. He swore up and down that this 'notice' requirement was on their website - it isn't. He swore up and down about the insurance requirement being on their website - it isn't because it isn't a requirement. We've heard him telling other customers bad information. I have rented cars from this location for years, including SUVs for the summer months, and until this Francisco interaction, have always had good experiences. Management should take notice that ours is not the only complaint about Francisco and do something about it!

They will charge for spouse as a 2nd driver even if spouse is on same private (my) auto insurance policy and the Dollar policy coverage is declined. Cost for this is much too high. Car pick up and return is convenient.

Worst customer service. They tried to charge me $1,000 for a car for the week when I made a reservation and total was $370. She charged my card without telling me the total which then made it decline. So then I had to use my credit card to pay for this card. When speaking with an online representative, he said I should not have been charged more that $500, which I was, I was charged $600+. The women kept tacking on up-charges without telling me. This place is a joke, they are dishonest and they are thieves. They claim to have reasonable prices, but after taxes, fees and other garbage that they tack on, you're not saving money. Go someplace else.

They don't answer their business phone, but they do talk on personal phones while working. They don't publicize their hours. They only have 2 attendants, which is not enough, and they're exceptionally slow. They are also not near any main entrances of treasure island, so, be prepared to carry your luggage a long way to get to them. We pre-paid over $500 to arrive and find a car with no gas and them saying we hadn't paid the one-way fee even though we had a receipt in-hand showing we did. They charged us an extra $250 and then told us to get our own gas on the Las Vegas strip. The oil needed to be changed and the windows were covered water spots. And then the woman at the desk on 18JUN19 at 0830 was rude, on her cell phone, and kept making snarky comments and trying to tell us to step out of line and wait instead of giving us the keys. We were delayed 2.5 hours in starting our trip and our cost literally doubled. The woman at the desk should be fired and this company brought to justice for the racket it is.

I got the economy car. I wanted something that would get me 800 miles for the lowest price. They quoted me $22 for one day, which I fully expected to go up when I got there. They were true to their word, which is more than I can say for other rental places. I'll be back

2 bad experiences with this company. 1st- we waited in line for over 20mins and when we finally got to the counter they told us they were sold out of cars for the day. They should have a sign that says "sold out" which would save peoples time. 2nd- learning from the day before we pre booked a car for the next day online. 3hrs before we were meant to pick up they called and advised they were sold out again. If this is the case why let the online website reserve cars? People have travel plans and itineraries they need to work out. They get 2 stars because at least they called me and didn't wait until I turned up to be informed and their prices seemed fair.

This Location On Google Maps Is Wrong! If you're not taking the airport shuttle over, you have to park in the visitor parking near the rental car return and take the elevator up to the rental car places. I had to drive my friend here after her card got declined because they couldn't find the third party she used to book the rental. It was busy, hot, and two different people had to talk to us before they finally got everything sorted out. I finally just offered to take off work and drive her around because it wouldn't be worth the fuss to get the car in the end. Definitely not an experience I would recommend for anyone.

I am very disappointed. I will stay with Enterprise. The ad is a lie. It says it will take a debit card but I was denied. I also was never refunded 26$ for a hold charge on a reservation. Overall a pretty good experience. I signed up as a member to expedite things and that certainly paid off. Went straight to the booth by the cars; saw my name and was told to pick from the dozen or so cars available. Returning the vehicle was also quick and efficient. However, for some reason I was charged an additional $40 that I did not pick up on since I had prepaid through Expedia. Noticed this once I got my electronic receipt. Called the 800 number and they agreed to mail me a cheque for the $40; since the charge made no sense to them either.

They sent me a $1100 bill for damage I did not do. The parking garage was dark and the employee took me to the back of the car and had me pick. I did not know I needed to review damage by the previous renter. I noticed the scratch on the bumper the next morning. When I returned the car it was walked around by an employee and they billed me for my 3 days and I thought that was the end of it. If they don't notice the damage when it is returned how am I to notice it when I pick it up?

I will NEVER use this company again. I booked it online through Economy Bookings. Both terrible. I was told by economy booking I didn't have to pay to add a driver and when I arrived they said it would be $13 a day to add someone. Told the girl I was told their would be no charge and she basically said tough luck can't do a thing for you... she was not willing to even begin to help me. I was given false information and they didn't give a darn.

Beware of dishonest dollar car rental at phonix airport. They scam you to pay up for rental insurance while you initially declined it when picking up car. When you return it that charge for extra insurance about $25/day will be included on your bill. When you tell them that you declined extra insurance they send you upstairs. I went upstairs where initially filled papers declining insurance but amazingly the manager that had a key to file cabinet where they store orginal rental agreement was not uvailable and they just give a corporate phone number to call and file a claim. I called that number and they give you like a claim# and related they will get back to me. It's been over 2 months now and not a word back. Stay away from this dishonest company and if you somehow have to give them business make sure you take pictures of all the paperwork you initially sign especially the page where you declined anything.

I reserved a car almost a month before my trip to Denver, Colorado. When I arrived there, yes they gave me a car using my debit card. The rate for the car was approximately 72 dollars per day. I picked up the vehicle at 7pm on Friday night and was supposed to return it on Sunday afternoon. But I had an emergency at home so I had to return the next day. I dropped the vehicle back and the guy who checked me in told me that the cost will be adjusted to one day of rental. When I got home ten days later, I was charged more than 360 dollars. I was stunned. I called, I was on hold for almost an hour. When the lady picked up the phone she said that my rental cost for a day went from 72 dollars to 200 plus a day. I was astonished. I rented a Chevy Equinox for god sake not a Rolls Royce . How does the rate goes from 72 dollars to 200 plus without notice and after I dropped off the vehicle? I’m really about to fight this to the end. You can’t be playing these games. That is called stealing. I don’t think Dave Ramsey would endorse this company with these kinda of business practices.

We made a reservation to rent a car for 2 months while my boyfriend was here in Arizona for work, we get a call a month in from a lady who had the poorest attitude telling us that we must return the car that day because we are 5 days past due. We argued it at first saying that we were supposed to have it for another month, but she wouldn’t budge. We called back and talked with someone else and they said it was a mix up on their part (we rented through July 30 but they put down June 30) so they said just come in and trade out the car for a different one. Fine, at least we will still have a car. We return the car to get another go to the rental office and they tell us that we can’t get another car? I mean what? We argued it as much as we could but Yosif was completely unhelpful and told us to come back the next day. Needless to say, we were very unhappy. Just do yourself a favor and use a different company.

Rented a luxury car to drive from PHX to SFO. They gave me a base model Nissan Maxima with a broken thermostat and brakes that shook the steering wheel violently when applying any braking at highway speed. They had an Infiniti Q50 there, but told me I had to take a car with CA plates back because if emissions (not true). They obviously wanted to work the bait and switch. Then, I got my bill to find that it was nearly double what I'd booked. The guy at the counter made it sound like my only option was to take one of the two insurance policies they offer. I accepted the cheaper one at $24, and I prepaid for gas, since it was much cheaper in AZ than in SF. Unbeknownst to be when you select this options, that somehow raises the taxes on the whole transaction to 15.6% which added an additional $97 to the bill, among 5 other hidden fees including: Concession Fee Recovery (11.11%), Frequent Flyer Surcharge, CNTY Surcharge, OPER/MAINT RECV & Energy Surcharge, Cust Facility Chg. NONE of this was explained to me, and I never saw or heard an estimated total. When I called customer support, the lady acted like it was common knowledge that there were tax risers included with the BS services they offer. She was kind enough to refund me $20 as that was the difference between a Luxury and a premium rental. Don't rent from Dollar or Thrifty. If you do, definitely don't get any of their services, or count on them to take care of you.

Off site rental location. Shuttles from Sky Harbor run to and from the building 24 hours a day from what I can tell. Dollar is located among all the other companies. This must be the fastest rent a car company I have ever dealt with. Would use them again. We usually wait at the pick up counter for at least 1/2 an hour on every trip. We were inline and in a car in less than 10 minutes. They pointed at the line and said "pick one." Car was a newish Kia small SUV. It was in fine shape... no mechanical issues or obvious damage aside from a windshield chip. Had to drop the car off EARLY in the AM. Check in staff was friendly and quick.

Mauritius served me. I arrived with a partially prepaid reservation for a 'wildcard' car (compact car or larger). Was told that there were no cars available "in my class", which is odd since 1) I have a prepaid reservation, and 2) my reservation class was compact or larger. Apparently there were no cars available in their entire fleet at their 24 hour agency in an international airport. Hard to believe since he told me after that he had 33 other reservations coming that night, and suggested that I should wait 3 hours for a car (I had arrived just before 11pm after a 4-5 hour flight from the east coast). When I asked for a refund, he said he couldn't give it to me. I'm not kidding. Mauritius didn't seem fazed at all that I was stranded (I have a foreign driver's licence and am not from the US), and offered zero help. Great price ($75 for 3.5 days) but what's the point if you can't get the car...

Our rental at Phoenix airport was great with one exception. The service received from the gentleman in the Kiosk in the garage was superb. He was extremely efficient and quick while being very courteous. The car was terrific, a compact Nissan. Our only complaint was being surprised to find a $13 dollar a day charge for having a spouse drive. We declined this which meant I was the only driver including driving at night when I was tired and my husband would have been the "better" driver. We have not encountered such a charge with other Dollar rentals in the past and this will cause us to reevaluate our placing Dollar as our go-to rental. We are retired, traveling more, and staying longer, so such a charge is prohibitive.

I would rate this establishment 0 if possible. The people that manage the counter are the worst. They canceled a prepaid reservation and ruined our vacation. Why you may ask? Well, the pick up time was 9:00 and we were there at 10:15, keep in mind we were in line for 30 minutes! And they "hold" a booking for an hour! However, trying to explain to the people behind the counter that this is a PREPAID reservation seem to have no effect. Last time dollar will get a dollar from me!

I had prepaid for a full sized SUV. When. I arrived, my family and I waited almost an hour before a much smaller vehicle was offered, or I had to wait at least another 30-60 minutes for the right vehicle. Once I got home, about a 45-50 minute drive, dollar customer NONSUPPORT told me I had to drive all the way back to the airport and back home on MY vacation time to get the correct vehicle. If I wanted someone to bring me the vehicle, they would charge me a towing fee. After over another hour dealing with at least 4 different people who only knew how to say We Can't, I finally hung up. Next time, I think I will use a company that knows how to say We Can.

I recently rented a car in Phoenix, from Dollar. As a rewards member, I normally go directly to the desk, pick up my keys, and I'm off. This time, I was told that my drivers license had expired. I explained that I had updated my account information online, several months ago. The attendant explained that my licensing information has to be called in and gave me the number to call. Apparently, since Hertz acquired Dollar and Thrifty, this has been procedural change. This is unfortunate since I've been a loyal Dollar renter for years. The good news is that, I still got a clean, car in the size I requested and the friendly, patient employees got me on my way in time to make my event on time.

This was an easy rental. The line at the counter was minimal when we arrived and we had good service. There was a good selection of mid-size cars to choose from and the car ran well. Was a little surprised to be asked to show my gas receipt (within 10 miles) at check-in, but since we had filled up within 10 miles it was not a problem. I thought the price ($330/8 days) was a little high, but you can't always find a good deal.

Worst service, ever! Went to pick up our car and the lady says it will be an hour late because the shipment was late. Not okay, but we needed a car so we walked around for an hour and came back. Now, we're told it will be another hour and a half until the shipment comes. No apologies, no offer to discount our rental, nothing. I had a 1 week reservation for $174 at the Dollar rent a car at PHX. However, due to a nationwide outage that caused all United flights to be grounded for 3 hours, I arrived at PHX a little over 3 hours late. Upon arriving at Dollar rental car counter, I was promptly informed that given my delay, they would NOT BE HONORING MY RESERVATION. I repeatedly informed the agent of the nationwide flight outage, but to no avail. Instead they offered to rent me a car at just over $600 for the week.!!!!! What a way to run a business! I will never be renting from these clowns at Dollar Rent a Car nor their affiliate agencies.

We reserved a Full size car. When we arrived, we requested a Dodge Charger. The girl at the counter told us that we couldn't have it. She LITERALLY said the policy is that they don't just hand out the Charger to just anybody because people steal them :/ WHAT?! So I calmly asked, is there a Charger available? YES, but I can't rent it to you. A manager has 2 approve it...but they're in a meeting 4 the next 30min to an hour. Even then you probably won't get it. WTF. And she had a bad attitude, was very rude & unfriendly...like she just didn't care. NEVER again. We went to Enterprise (two counters down) & got a Charger!

I spoke with them on the phone and reserved a car (got an email confirmation), paid for a taxi to get to their location and arrived before the reservation time. Once I got there, they said they were out of cars. How do you go from telling someone on the phone you have cars, taking my reservation, emailing a rental confirmation - all in just 15 minutes - and then when I arrive you are out of cars? What's the point of online reservations if there are no cars when you get there? Someone arrived while I was talking to them, they had used a popular online travel discount website, and they were also instructed to contact them to request a refund since they were out of cars... At first, the customer service i received from Adrian was not pleasant whatsoever. I left came back shortly and asked to speak to a manager. He told me there wasn't a manager there. I then insisted there had to be some type of supervisor and he again said no. Then i insisted on speaking to someone higher than him. He then said, i will see if my supervisor could speak to you. I was in shock but couldn't help but chuckle at this point. His supervisor Leonard comes out, i explain the situation and he gets permission from his higher up to rent us the vans. I came back with the 2 other drivers and got everything situated. Kudos to Martin for exceptional customer service and Leonard for helping us out. Adrian on the other hand, he needs to be addressed for how he initially handled the situation. If it wasn't for Leonard and Martin, i would cancel the 2 vans i reserved next week but they were awesome. So thank you to them.

Discrepancies with the time the car was rental and supposed to be returned, charged extra. Given a 2wd car that slid everywhere during winter months because no AWD/4x4 were available. Next day somewhere finally there to trade in, cost another $230+ for a safe vehicle. Snow studded tires are $20 a day extra when they should be standard in the winter. Customer service sucks when communicating with the manager via email. Spent an absorbent amount of money. Forgot a pair of shoes in the original rental when I traded and when I called they said they weren't there. I went in and checked, they were exactly where I stated they would be so clearly they don't clean out vehicles after each customer. Wish I'd gone with a different company and I will in the future. I do not recommend.

First off when we checked in they went over nothing and said the guy downstairs would be doing everything he was just looking up my reservation and I would not be paying for anything until paperwork was gone over. I get downstairs and there is one frantic man yelling keys are in them take whatever you want for free. He tries to make me take an suv instead of the full size car I signed up for. I find a full size car and he tells me to pull up to the gate and the man there does the paperwork. I pull up to the gate and the man checks that my id matches the paper I was given upstairs then tells me I need to hurry up and move I was blocking other drivers. A few days into our trip I decide to call the company and get some clarification because I was now charged almost an extra $100 in fees. I was shuffled to a total of 8 representatives hung up on 3 times asked to speak with someone at the location I rented from and was told to just go there that they can’t contact them. I then decided I would return my car to a different location. I know that there is a $10 fee associated with this as it says it in my contract I call again to schedule this because they state they need 24hr notice. 4 different representatives later two hang ups and 3 desperate quotes each rising an additional $50 per representative. I have been hung up on again and decided I will have to just keep my contract and dispute charges with my card company.

This was an easy travel option while in Phoenix/Scottsdale area. Shuttle ride from Sky Harbor was quick and easy. Thank you to the driver for helping with our bags!! Stepped right up to the Dollar desk where the attendant quickly located by reservation and directed us to the car pick up area in the garage. The attendant there was quick and directed us to pick from the two row selection of vehicles. Found our vehicle and we were on our way! EASY PEASY! Thanks Dollar!

Thanks to the reviews I was able to find the place... It's not trivial! It's located on the third floor along the bridge to the garage. Go to mystere theatre, take the elevator up. I rented from dollar out of necessity, as all of the other rentals were out of cars. The staff was great unlike others have claimed, and the return process was easy. The reason I have 3 stars was the following. Dollar has their lot inside the garage, which is about 40 or so spots. For unknown reasons they have more rental cars than spots! I went back at 430pm to return the car and could not find a spot, and no one is around to explain what to do in case. After going around the garage for 20 mins finally a spot opens up. Of course, after we parked other people in their rentals were circling the lot asking if we were leaving... They're in the same predicament. We could park elsewhere and tell the staff via a note, but that seems risky. May be some jerk parked and occupied their spots? Dunno, but either way it was such a hassle!

Was quoted 201 made the reservation 2 weeks before. Got there pucked up the car the next day my bank sent me a notification of 488! Called 2 times and was told to drive back to the dollar rental. Terribler customer service from the female manager. After being there for over an hour I finally just returned the car, asked for my Money back. They couldn't give me all my money back( of course) and ended up paying $50 to drive it to a hotel sleep and drive it back. Not to mention loosing a day of vacation dealing with this. When we went to get our car in the garage we were allowed to pick our car from the size/class we paid for instead of taking one that was assigned.

Got up early and meet the worker when she showed up. Had no reservation but there where 2 vehicles available. The process was easy and I feel like the price wasn’t terrible considering I rented an SS Camaro convertible. The after hour return procedure was simple and I received my receipt by email first thing the next morning. Friendly staff made this experience even better. No complaints here.

We booked a vehicle for three days starting from LA and returned to Vegas. The car was not washed or cleaned properly once it was received, with a smoke odour still inside along with a tobacco form substance in the glove compartment. We were okay with this initially, however was bitterly disappointed when we were charged an additional full day for returning the vehicle back 82 minutes late. Definitely won’t be using this service again. Had a much more pleasant experience with Hertz.

We reserved a rental car from Dollar for an agreed price. Upon our arrival at the Sky Harbor Airport, Dollar handed us the contract to sign, never mentioning that the contract included more than $100 in extra charges for unwanted insurance and roadside assistance. We never knew about those charges until after getting our credit card bill. After we complained about the lack of oral disclosure of the extra charges, Dollar declined to make it right. This is an unethical business practice.

CON ARTISTS. Beware. There’s no way to make this short. Booked my car through Expedia. Paid just under $300 for 4 days. Selected NO insurance because ours covers it. Picked up the car in Phoenix Airport, car was dirty, dented and smelled but it worked, told the guy at counter we didn’t need coverage or anything else he offered, just the car. He then says the “are you sure, we have coverage only $30” there was a language barrier/broken English but we heard him. My husband says “$30? That’s not bad, what does that cover?” Guy “ covers the car, just $30” that’s it. We thought that was $30 for the entire trip- not A DAY. He didn’t speak in detail bc of the broken English, we assumed he meant only $30 bc he said only $30. Next morning I see that $364 came out of my account & I panic bc I already paid for the rental in full with Expedia- why is this charge 1.5x more? He charged 3 days of insurance at $31.99 a day- I call Dollar customer service- tell the lady I need to cancel the unwanted insurance for the last 3 days and I want a refund, we were not told it was a day & we were told “only $30” and nothing more. She says she can’t refund. I ask for the phone number of the location we got the car so I can call them and handle it- she says “there’s no number to contact that location sorry” I told her, they wouldn’t believe I talked to her, I need them to know I didn’t want this now. She says “don’t worry I’ll make a note in the system you called!” I was dumb again and believed her. Returned car 4th day, told them what happen, and the manager said “I have no note that you called anyone, there’s nothing I can do, it’s services rendered” I told her “I did call them, it’s not my fault they didn’t make a note & I was told I would get a refund when I came in” she said it was basically my word against her system that said I didn’t call- so I said “ok well idk if you’re running some scam here with your service to trap people but here’s the proof- my call log shows a 8min. Call with Dollar rental” she got mad and said she would only refund half the cost, I told her I was fine paying $30 bc that’s what I was told. But I got half the total refunded. They are such con artists. DONT use them. We took pics of the dents it had when we got it & had to ask them for the proof slip we didn’t do it, before we used it. I’m just waiting for them to try to blame that on us. Luckily we have the pic and proof slip we had to ask for.

Worst car hire ever. Ive been lucky enough in my life to travel around the world and in doing so I have had to hire vehicles from many different companies. Unfortunately this was the worst hire company I’ve had. No fuel in the vehicle so I had to fuel it up first thing. Car was dirty with scratches, damage all over it plus a crack in the windshield. Pick-up & Drop-off at Boston Logan. Salesman told us that the toll pass was necessity as no toll booth took cash and without the easy-pass that we would be charge $15 per booth plus the cost of the toll. That "they changed the booths a few years back." Once we were on the road it was obvious that all booths still took cash. We would have spent $22 in tolls, but instead paid $60 because of shady salesmanship.

Price quoted was less than $700. By the time it was over it was also $1,100. I rented a Dodge 1500 or equivalent ,first truck agent offered was small Toyota. Finally recieved a Nissan truck. It was not only dirty it was scratched all over. The antenna was broken and flopping around. Disengenous counter person a poor service. When I went to the desk I was told that my subcompact couldn't be upgraded without paying more, fine it was my birthday and I went along with it. When I went to pickup the vehicle , I discovered that they didn't have the vehicle I was to get and that my original vehicle was not on the lot. Usually the attendant finds you the first acceptable car...so I was ripped off for an upgrade when the counter should have known there wasn't a car. To top it off the car developed a flat, and did not have a spare, just an inflator when ch didn't work . The only solution from Dollar wasto tow this vehicle back to PHOENIX from 1.5 hrs away to repair and I could pick it up at PHOENIX.. I have spent 4 hrs on the phone asking to cancel this car and they can not accommodate me. My advice ..don't rent here.

I had a good experience with them. I booked a car ahead of time online and it was available when I got to the counter. The staff was friendly and helpful. I personally passed on the rental insurance and other add-ons because this is where the price goes up, but waive the insurance at your own risk. I also passed on the pre-paid gas because even though they give you a lot per gallon price, they still charge for an entire tank even if you return it with half a tank. I got a Subaru outback and it was clean and very fuel efficient. Drove a good amount and barely used half a tank of gas. They are cheaper than the other big brands. I would recommend them, but beware of the add-ons they'll try to sell you. It was easy to find the car and easy to return.

BE AWARE !!!!! Initially my overall experience was positive, however I had a rude awakening upon returning the vehicle. When I picked it up I was asked which coverage I wished to accept, I told them I wished to decline all since I'm covered completely under my USAA policy. Since I was running late, and to my dismay, I neglected to review the contract with a fine tooth comb. He did in fact select 'declined' for all but one item - the most expensive one: LDW at $31.99 PER DAY - more than the rental of the vehicle itself. It feels almost intentional that the item was skipped since I specifically said that I am covered under my own policy. So.... an older woman, in a hurry & stressed .... makes me wonder. This DOUBLED my bill and Dollar was unwillingly to address the issue. DONE with Dollar!

While I have always enjoyed my experience with Dollar this trip to Phoenix wasn't so great. First the selection of cars was one of two Ford Fiestas which wasn't at all the way they described what I payed for. Later that night while out to dinner in Old Scottsdale as I walked to the car I noticed that the tags on the plates had expired! I called Dollar Rental and told them I wasn't comfortable driving the car and wanted a replacement. I was told that I would have to bring it back to the airport to do that, but I really didn't need to. Mind you they had a Dollar Rental at the hotel I was staying in but they wouldn't help me either. They told me if I got a ticket they would take care of it! I was a little upset about that. I felt it was their mistake and they could send someone out with a car to exchange and let them take the chance of getting the ticket. Besides that I was attending a conference from 7:30 in the morning until 9-9:30 at night. Their response was the rental desk at the airport was open 24 hours!!!! Next, the blue tooth didn't work and when I tried to use the auxiliary cord that was a no go too! I was very surprised at the experience I had this time. I have always been satisfied with the cars and customer service in the past, but for some reason this year was just awful from beginning the end. Think I may try someone else next year.

The rent-a- car was in the resort and you had to walk through it a bit to find it. Once we were there, the people were pleasant and advised what we needed to do and how to return the car after hours. They provided all the detail we needed and the car was great and had no issues. It was clean and easy to drive. We just returned it in the resort garage and had a key drop since it was after hours. The experience was pleasant, quick and easy and the employees were nice! Will come back here again when I come back to Vegas!

Rented online, had special circumstances, called TWICE to ask VERY specific questions to get Specific answers. "Yes Sir, Yes Maam. That is correct, we can do that." LIARS! Left my party car-less on vacation, and was charged. My husband and I were both on the phone trying to fix this. After 1 1/2 hours, expedia stepped up and took care of us, Dollar basically "yeah, sorry...NOT". We ended up paying more ,at Enterprise, than TWICE what we should have. At least ENTERPRISE would work with and help us. NEVER AGAIN will I, or any of my family rent from Dollar again.

Recommended for fast and friendly. I reserved 2 cars for PHX at Budget and Dollar just in case I had a problem. Budget line was long and only 3 staff with no action. I went 20 feet and Dollar had 4 staff and no line up. Mike showed us pictures of the car I reserved - it was smaller than I thought - my mistake. I asked to change for a bigger one. He charged $10 per day more 1 upgrade, but gave us 2 upgrades. Probably would be cheaper it I reserved that myself weeks ago. He took the time to explain all the charges because he said they want to be totally transparent. No pressure for insurance (that I never take) or gas up etc. We went down 2 floors to pick the car and leave - very smooth. Car was great, and no surprise charges when we returned. The return was easy but could be quicker if they had more than 1 person - but it was Sunday morning, so maybe more staff at other times and days. I would rent again, but next time pick a bigger car so I could get the one I had.

The service was great and the car I rented for two weeks was a great little car. Dependable and the price per day was great - great on gas too - Ford Focus. Would definitely recommend Dollar. The car return was tricky though. Hard to find the return area - next to Hetz and was confusing - they took a while to get to me as they had a lot of people returning cars as it was the return from the holiday season (end of the year). Even though, all in all I would definitely rent a car from Dollar at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. Thank you!

Dollar is fine if you have lots of time to waste on their incompetence. I just spent over an hour in the Phoenix Sky Harbor Dollar garage along with about 75 other people waiting for these idiots to trickle cars in 1 and 2 at a time. I over heard one woman say she had been there over 2 hours. This is all after the normal expected delay of another half hour at the Dollar registration desk. The excuse of this Einstein running the outside lot was that since they just merged with Thrifty they have had problems supplying cars. He finally said, "well, it's Easter and a lot of people have been waiting a long time". No kidding!. This was an embarrassment to the city. All of the other brands seemed to be supplying cars with reasonable wait times. Dollar lumps their cars in with airline tickets which may seem less expensive than the other brands, but that's only if your time is worth nothing. I rented a car from the Phoenix airport and was told at the airport that I could remove the insurance later on once I found out whether I needed it or not according to my company policy. But when I arrived at this location in Scottsdale, I was told that the amount was too high to modify and that the employee there was not authorized. That only a manager would be able to change the contract, and that this dollar rent a car in Scottsdale does not have a manager. At all. I also called support and had them talk to the employee, and they also mentioned that I'd need to go back to the airport to remove the insurance. This is ridiculous, as I've had the insurance removed via email for an Enterprise rental. This to me means that dollar rent a car purposely cripples their customer service, making it extremely inconvenient for the customer. Be warned that in order to remove insurance from the policy, dollar rent a car requires you to go back to the original rental location.

Beware fraud here! This location does not give you an opportunity to have the car's condition inspected upon picking it up or dropping it off. The contract has no diagram of the car where you can note pre-existing nicks and scratches. I made the mistake of driving off upon pick-up and drop-off with no inspection of the car. I shouldn't have. Three weeks after my trip, I was informed that Dollar claimed I had damaged the car in a collision, to the tune of $1000. This is untrue; I returned the car in the same shape I had picked it up in. But since I had no evidence of this in the form of a visual inspection of the car or photos, I was out of luck and had to pay up. My auto insurance is covering it (minus deductible, and penalty to my policy). Absolute fraud. I believe they targeted me because I refused to buy their suggested upsell of Loss Damage Waiver (I knew I didn't need it since my insurance covers rentals). If you rent here, make sure you don't drive off without getting someone to sign off on a description of the state of the car.

Friend staff. A bit of a line when I got there, but not too long a wait. Just FYI, if you're dropped by Left/Uber, be aware they'll likely let you off by entrance to Treasure Island. The dollar counter is way towards the back and up the escalators, just past the tram entrance. A bit of a shlep if you have any impairment in walking.

I will Never rent from Dollar car rental ever! Here is why. I booked my rental through Expedia. I got a rate of 114. For one week. This is where we start the buyer beware. Dollar does a bate and switch process. If you return the car earlier then they charge you the highest rate possible for that day and an early return fee. I have rented from car rental companies such as national, Enterprise, Hertz, Avis and have never in my life experienced this type of theft. They close out your account then inform you after of the astronomical cost with returning early. Then when you ask to keep the vehicle because you are better off keeping the vehicle for the allotted time , they inform you that the ticket is closed and we can no longer honor the contract. Then I was told by customer service that I should have called in previously to inform dollar that I wanted to return the vehicle earlier. Once I got to the customer service counter the Representatives and manager refused to do anything to rectify the situation. They said we can't calculate the daily rate based on your original contract. I then asked to speak to the owner of the location Poorva Gokhale and was told she had no contact telephone number. Expedia even tried to help and asked to speak to the Representatives at the counter and they too refused to speak to Expedia , who works with Dollar.Yhen the counter staff says they don't have a telephone at the counter but I could clearly see a phone on the counter that had a blinking light. My advice to anyone is to Go do business with reputable companies such as National, and enterprise. Dollar Car rental is a company that believes in bait and switch.

We booked a rental car via Travelocity from Dollar Car Rental at the Phoenix airport. We paid in advance and even purchased the additional insurance. When my husband picked up the car, the counter was chaos and the line was super long. He was asked if wanted to purchase additional insurance and he said no and signed the contract, without looking closer because the place was so crazy. It then took almost an hour for them to fetch the car. He returned the car two days later with a full tank of gas as agreed. A few days later we noticed we charged $96 by Dollar, almost the same amount as what we prepaid through Travelocity for the 2-day rental. I called Dollar customer service thinking maybe there was a mistake and were charged twice. After about 7 prompts, I reached a customer service representative. I kindly explained the situation and asked if she could check that for me. She continually sighed and huffed/puffed in my ear, as if I were imposing upon her time. After looking up the contract that signed, she stated that my husband agreed to another insurance and to roadside assistance which was why we were charged the additional $96. I explained that he told the counter representative that he did not want the extra insurance before signing the contract. I also explained that the counter was chaotic and it was super busy. She said (very rudely) it does not matter, he signed it so we have to pay for it. Makes no sense, why would we buy even more insurance after we had already purchased additional insurance through Travelocity when the reservation was made?? I will never, ever give my business to Budget Rental Car in the future. I typically never leave bad reviews because I understand that some people just like to complain and I don't want to sound like them, but they knowingly deceived my husband and added the additional insurance after he told them he did not want it. And the "customer service" representative should be ashamed of how she treats customers over the phone.

I booked because this was by far the cheapest rental for my week in Arizona. Customer service was fair at the rental car desk upstairs, as the gentleman helping us had to use three different computers to get our agreement to print. Downstairs, we had to look around for someone to help us, and he eventually showed up. All of the cars we had to choose from had scratches and dents, and the first car we chose was actually supposed to be held for maintenance and was unlabeled by mistake. Luckily, this was caught at the gate, and we changed before leaving the facility. I'd say we got what we paid for: a mediocre car with mediocre customer service for the price of $135/8 days.

I visited the Dollar Rent A Car counter at the Phoenix car rental place and was helped by Moe. Moe proceeded to tell me that my paid for car would be a Smart Car and that I could upgrade for more than twice the original quote. I made him confirm that it was a SmartCar and he insisted it was a Smart Brand Sub Compact Car. I told him no upgrades and I'll just fit all 6'5" 280 lbs of me into the sardine can. We walk to pick up the car and Moe was proven to be a liar. He lied through his teeth to me in order to try to get an upsell. It was a Toyota Yaris, small, not NOT a smart car. I will never do business with Dollar Rent A Car again and neither should anyone else!!! Lying Moe should not be allowed to lie to customers anymore.

I'd give this place 0 stars if I could. I booked 2 weeks in advance for Thanksgiving weekend and even called the day before pick-up to confirm everything was good. Like most reviews have said, I showed up and they told me they were out of cars and there was nothing they could do to help me. The service rep at the counter was completely unsympathetic and dismissive. I would NEVER use this company again. Stay away!

I liked the fact that the car I rented had good gas mileage and cruise control! It took a while to find the location of pickup and drop off. I left something in the car and tried to get information about how to get a hold of their lost and found was time consuming and a bit frustrating. I will be going online to do that today! I wish I could've just spoke to someone at my drop off site!

The actual car rental and service was good but was baited in a set rate and then they cheated me on return by changing the rate. I had reserved the van for 5 days but when I checked out the vehicle I asked if I could return it early if things changed. I was told yes that would be fine and nothing else. Came to check it in and the new representative charged a higher rate for each day. I questioned why and she said oh you turned it in early so we have to charge the higher rate. I said no one warned me about that and she said sorry but they change the rate if you turn it in early. One way to rip off the customer instead of serving the customer. If I had been warned I would have kept it the extra day so the almost $20 a day extra charge would not have happened. Never in 40 years of car returning has this ever happened before - shame on dollar

Con artist place. Talk you into all kinds of stuff. Offered update at no cost but after I left I looked at the bill and it was still charged. Also was told the best for gas was not to fill it as they would for a small charge. $52.00 was very high. Will never use it again. Googled it and wow!!! Many complaints.

Received friendly, helpful customer care on our wknd trip to PHX. Joey made some excellent food recommendations when we were selecting a car in the garage! Cars looked smoke free, clean, and new. Counter agent was hurried in her service. Need to check my credit card statement to be sure she didn't charge me for unwanted additional insurance or anything else she suggested. Assuming no charge issues, I'd use them again.

Not happy at all. Using USAA as part of an upgrade discount but they don’t tell you the original price for the upgrade. Was told that upgrades are $99. If I had known that when we checked in, I would not have upgraded. Pure rip-off! Will never rent from them again and please don’t use USAA to trick people into thinking they are getting a great discount to upgrade. Better off with Hertz, Alamo or anyone but Dollar

Im wondering if all these complaints are legit. Theres always 3 sides to every story. That being said any car rental place is going to be busy when they first open or when they are at peak hours. Even if u prepay u still have to show up on time which i have found that means getting there early especially in Las Vegas!! I mean this location is right in the thick of it all AND they r the most reasonably priced one. I had no problems. When I first arrived i was about 15mins early so i had to wait a bit. @30mins or so but im in vacation and whn im on vacation i relax my mind and i dont put times on anything!!! (I dont do shows). Anyways i got my car which was a lil dinged up and small but again its a rental and im on vacation!! It was nascar wkend too btw! So they were very busy. Got my car (always take lots of photos!) went to Red Rock Canyons (i highly recommend). Got gas thn returned the car earlier than i reserved and I was done. Super painless. No extra charges. No cleaning fee. I had no issues. Granted I understand thats not always how it will go. Depends on the people working that day i suppose. But mostly i think its just getting there on time and confirming reservations before you arrive. Triple check reservations and be careful its not from a 3rd party except Expedia—they r pretty cool!

Really bad experience. My appointment was for 5pm got to counter at 5:02 pm. Counter totally closed down. No person in site. People in this area stated that the guys left at 10 minutes to 5. Call all the numbers at the desk and was told we are sorry.we can get u another vehicle please come to the airport where I just arrived from to get another vehicle. Did I MENTION I'M HANDICAP. No body cared on there end. Totally disappointed. Still have not received my deposit back. First and last experience with Dollar Rent a car. I felt like their attitude was like oh well, get your vehicle elsewhere. I'm 64 yrs young things don't usually ruffle my nerves, this took the cake.The pick-up location was at my hotel, why should I have to Uber back to airport. So angry. Don't trust them to be business like, you will be disappointed. If there was a zero I would give it to them. Oh guess what it was my birthday.

We had a pleasant experience at the front desk the employee was knowledgeable and very friendly. However once we arrive to the parking garage the car that we pre-reserved has already been taken instead they offered us a free upgrade. Stay away from the Mazda 2 seems to suck down gasoline faster than my Toyota Corolla. After getting into the car we realize we had to go through some kind of checkpoint with a long line. I feel like this process could be streamlined so that the customer could easily simplify this process so customers can hit the road sooner

Terrible experience. Arrived 45 minutes early and they tried to give me a car for $100 more than my reservation. Had to wait until the exact minute to pick it up. When I arrived 4 hours early to drop it off, they again tried to charge me $75 over the reservation cost.

4 days @ $42.00 bucks a day for a Luxury Car, Quoted $550 yet charged $1000. Be careful who you rent from because it could be a scam. And the only excuse Dollar gave me was "We forgot to close out your contract" 4 days later. When the company itself makes a mistake you should make your customer whole again so your customer will return. You have the ability to make instant or next day deposits. I have rented three times from Dollar at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. Very happy with service. I was able to select the car of my choice from the class that I had purchased. Considering the price of rental and this feature, I will choose Dollar again next trip. I do think all rental companies should clarify which vehicles are in each category. I have rented from many companies and always end up with a slightly smaller car than expected.

One of the most ridiculous car rental experiences I have ever had. Booked a car online at the dollar rent a car at the treasure island hotel in Las Vegas. Went to pick up the car and the guy says they have no cars. So when asked how do you not we reversed one, his response was that is what they do! Seriously!?!?! So you just have people thinking while on vacation they can pick up a car to get there to find out there isn't any. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT PEOPLE TO DO IF THEY ARE DEPENDING ON A RENTAL VEHICLE?? Just ridiculous!!

First off id like to say I DO NOT work for dollar car rental, but I am going to leave a good review because it is deserved, i dont normally review places, but seeing as how they have a less then 3 star rating and did great im making an exception, My girlfriend and I took a trip to vegas from ohio, we stayed at treasure island, where the company is located, i reserved a car 1.5 hours before I wanted it, they wer able to accomodate me, unlimoted mileage, and since we wer taking a trip to the grand canyon for the day the $21 insurance was well worth the security cost me about $160 to put 541 miles on their nissan rogue, including insurance and the gas money I spent for the day, vehicle was clean, ran well, and when returning I heard one of the ladies say we cant rent that one out it needs an oil change bad, referring to another customer, so they do actually care about what they're putting you in. Also there wer no hidden fees, the cost I was told was the cost it was. Thanks dollar!

Don't do it! Prices look look, don't they? Very reasonable. Yet when you get there they tell you, sorry, you didn't sign up for a compact, you signed up for a sub-sub-sub compact -- it's not our fault the web service didn't say that -- then say, for an additional $25 a day, you can have the car you want. So that $130 rental becomes $300. Then you have to have a receipt showing the car was filled up within 10 miles of the airport -- what's that all about? They will tell you it's all there in the contract -- dozens of pages -- it's not our fault! Long long lines. Dishonest company. Fraudulent practices. Highly recommended if you really enjoy being ripped off or if you're a lawyer who enjoys litigation. DON'T DO IT!!!

I'm giving this a 2 star for their terrible set up, upon arriving after 10pm. And other issues. Upon arrival, the dollar counter is closed and it state for all "members" to go downstairs to that counter. It does not provide any communication other wise (see pics) then when you go down with all your luggage, a woman tells you if your not a member, go back up stairs and see the "thrifty counter". So I'm suppose to know this? @10pm at night, with no communication? Dollar rent a car is like Dave Ramsey their sponsor a quack. Then the car we took had all kinds of issues and was not checked before releasing. Over all the car replacement was fine.

I arrived at 2am at the airport after plane delays and cancellations ......I have a disability currently and I had nobody to help me,thanks to American airlines.....I was pretty desperate and the next van shuttle was at 4:30am and very expensive....I bumped into dollar rental while aimlessly limping around an empty airport....I met Dee...who was alone in a hot booth taking customers...one at a time...then getting one a car ...then rushing over to the exit booth .....giving them the go ahead light,and then rushing back to the entry booth.She was so kind and full of spirit and joy .....she got me a great car....a good price ...and I was out within 15 minutes. That woman deserves a raise....a co worker and and actually in that,stupid booth...I was depressed when I got there but she lifted my spirits....and so aside from a recommendation to dollar rental....I am mainly writing this to praise DEE... As well dollar rental is great .....I will go to them from now on ....when I returned my car in Tucson....the young man who helped me was wonderful....I was out in 10 minutes..... Dollar rental is an obscure tiny place with wonderful service and low prices...and great cars.Thank you ....ps...I never do reviews

fraud warning. Predatory and manipulative staff at the counter. I verbally declined additional insurance, and so was given a "waiver". This waiver was an additional charge of $31.99 per day for "loss prevention"? Contacted support immediately upon reviewing the receipt, NO RESPONSE. Wish I had paid the wopping $2 per day more to rent from a more reputable company.

Recently rented a car here and had a terrible experience. I payed for the full rental online, but when I got to the front desk they double charged me for insurance, and charged hundreds of dollars in extra fees. These extra charges were never disclosed to me and I didn't find out until I checked my bank statement. I called customer service to try and fix these mistakes and they were rude and unhelpful. I would advise avoiding this company.

Counter service was fine, waited less than five minutes to be assisted. The woman at the counter was friendly, and she tried to sell us on an upgrade, on paying for fuel, on insurance, all the stuff I expect. I declined all, and we were on our way. In the garage, however, we were shown a vehicle with some minor damage to the bumper. When I pointed out the damage to the attendant she said "That's normal, all the cars are like that". We took photos of the vehicle, and headed on our way. We returned the vehicle to the Las Vegas airport Dollar Rental and the attendant pointed out the damage. I showed him my photos, but he noted the damage on the check-in. A few weeks later I received an email asking about the damage. Luckily I had the photos and sent them to Dollar and they were satisfied. But beware when renting here, take photos of any damage no matter how small.

This is a terrible rental company with awful customer service. They charged me 3 times the amount. One car reeked of cigarettes, the second car part of the undercarriage tore off while on the highway and was hitting the ground and the wheel well, it was also leaking coolant and their response when I told them what happened was "well you made it here right?" Never again will I use this company

I was not at all satisfied with my experiences here. When I got the car, immediately I noticed the low tire pressure light is on and the windshield washer fluid were low. I told the counter about it but they just referred me to the "gas station down the road". I had to pump air to the tire myself in the freezing cold. Two days into the rental, engine maintenance also came on. What's more, I rented a GPS unit as my own GPS does not cover Alaska, but I don't know when the GPS was even last updated. There are a lot of places that I know exist but can't find on GPS. I had good experience with Dollar in the past at other locations, but this location really need work. The only positive thing I can say is that the cost of the rental was cheap and the car was fairly new.

Wonderful experience. Walked right up to stall to get car. No waiting in line. Vehicle was brand new with only 3 miles on the odometer. If that wasn’t enough, price was the lowest of all of the national brands.
