Arriving later than planned due to weather there was a little bit of a line at the counter which moved along pretty quickly for it being 9pm at night. The counter agent had a lot of patience with a set of customers that did not understand the rules for use of debit cards, she handled herself well as it was company policy. Booking with Costco made for an easy reservation at the counter and I was presented with a RAV-4 with just 600 miles on it. The car was clean and handled well. I did a before hours drop off which was smooth too and no surprises on statement. I enjoy renting from Alamo, we have had great experiences all over the country.

Rented from Alamo in Birmingham, AL 5 days ago and everything was perfect! I would rent again from Alamo.
I reserved a car online about a month ago and the site didn't mention that the deposit would be higher if you have an in state license. When I arrived to pick up my car, the customer service agent wouldn't explain why the deposit is higher and didn't seem to care about the inconvenience.
Limited cars available. I reserved a Full size vehicle but had to settle for a much smaller car due to availability.

I have rented many times from Alamo Rent A Car and have always had a good experience. The people are friendly and helpful. There have been a few times when the cars could have been cleaner but i am not that hung up on that sort of thing. I am only mentioning in case any one is wondering why i did not give them five stars.

Liars worse experience ever
I flew in from Orlando and after getting my baggage I walked across to street to the Alamo counter at Birmingham Intl. Airport. The lady working the counter has the worst customer service skills. She didnt say anything to my wife nor me when we walked up to the desk. Just stared at the computer screen. I asked her if she was ready and she said yep. I started giving her the reservation number and she just started repeating "LICENSE". Needless to say, that was probably the last time I will rent with Alamo. Have always rented from Alamo but not again.
Alamo is the best! When other companies wouldn't allow me to use my debit card as payment Alamo made it simple by just providing my travel itinerary and then I was on my way. Thanks so much for your service. I will definitely be using this company for my travels in the future!! Best, DaWoyne Hill

The rental felt like it needed a front end alignment, when I return the rental I left my garage remote I called and spoke with a representative she took my name and phone number stated that the unit had been driven to mobile she advised she would call back to let me know if they found the remote never received phone call. I didn't follow up on Monday spoke with a rude individual at the Birmingham location in Lost and Found provided my information to her she advised the unit would be return on the 22nd of March in Atlanta advised she would have her supervisor called out to Atlanta no return phone call . I've had several rentals with Alamo several awesome experiences this by far has been the worst.
I enjoy reserving cars through Alamo and National, they make you feel important as if you're their only customer even though they have a line behind you. I was fortunate enough to rent vehicles for back to back weekend trips out of town. I was not aware that now they hold 200 on your credit card when you rent from them and it was explained in a manner that I had no problem with it. I would like to thank MR. DONALD FITTS for taking the time with me. I had reservations with Alamo and didn't know you had to go on the inside to do your transaction. He was VERY COURTEOUS AND SAID YES MAM OR NO MAM! He could have easily sent me off, but he graciously did my transaction with a SMILE ON HIS FACE! I WAS THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED AND ONE SATISFIED INSIDER AND EMERALD CLUB MEMBER! Thanks for all you do!

Generally only one agent covering g Alamo and National. Wait can be long and once you complete with the agent, another stop to pick up keys. I've used the kiosk and that process is long and asks the same questions as I had previously answered on the on line check in. I miss the simplicity and friendliness of Palm Springs.

Rented a mini-van that held luggage and 4 golf bags for our trip around the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Plenty of room in the car. Drove well, good gas mileage. Only issue was there were no USB ports to charge any of our phones. Would expect USB ports to be standard on any 2016 model car.
I really hate that they have started charging a $200.00 deposit on top of the rental fee. Alamo use to be the most responsible car rental place with good customer service but here lately the customer service has been horrible.

The best car place to rent a car.Their prices are very very cheap.Best place ever.
Everything was fine until I turned in the vehicle and they tacked on an extra 70 or $80 because I turned it in late. I said I was not going to turn it in till Friday when i picked it up and nothing was ever mentioned. Well their mistake means you have to pay for it according to the rental pick-up guy who could not care about the extra charge.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They truly seemed to be happy to be there and glad to see us. Some other places we have rented from in the past, the staff seemed annoyed that they had to stop whatever they were doing to actually do their job. Alamo in Birmingham wasn’t like that at all. I wish I had gotten the employee’s name who helped us because he greeted us with a smile and an eagerness to help which made us feel like we were part of the family. We picked up our rental quickly and were on the road in just a few minutes. We rented a large SUV at a very reasonable price to bring our new Marine home from boot camp. The rental was so clean that we truly thought it was a brand new car. We will definitely be renting from them again.

I always rent Alamo when I travel, however for the first time I encountered a big problem when my flight was delayed and I landed in birmingham Alabama at about 1:30am on 1/25. First I called Alamo at birmingham 3 times and noone picked up. Then I called Alamo customer service hotline and someone told me that there was going to be a rep present there although my flight got in after midnight. Long story short I landed and went to Alamo and it was closed and it was 30 degrees. No rep was there and me and my pregnant girlfriend were walking around the airport for 45 mins trying find someone to help us get our rental. When we finally came to terms that we were not getting our rental I had to find a cab and pay $40 to get to our hotel and I paid another $30 to go back to the airport the next morning and pick up the rental. However the CSR that gave us the keys to our vehicle was super nice her service was great and appreciated and our experience once I finally got the rental was great as always when I rent from alamo accept for being lied to by the Alamo operator about being able to pick my rental up late because of a delayed flight.
I reserved a full-size and I ended up driving a minivan. The cruise control on the minivan didn't work , so my 2 1/2 hour drive to my destination and back was not all that enjoyable. The customer service was good other then not having what I requested.
The Jeep Compass 2016 lacked technology - could not connect phone to wi-fi, no keyless ignition, SUV too noisy. I felt as if I had gone back in time.
Over the past year, Alamo has become my favorite place to rent a car when I am travelling. They have friendly staff at their rental counters and they go out of their way to get me the car that we want. Our recent experience at Birmingham was no different. When we got to the counter, the only car available in the class that we had requested was a Dodge Charger. I don't like that particular car, so I asked if they had a Nissan Altima or some other vehicle. When we were told that they didn't, we went ahead and said we would take the Dodge. When we got out to the garage to pick up the keys, the wonderful young lady from the rental counter came running out and said that she had found a Ford Fusion and asked if we would like it. She then quickly brought the updated rental agreement to the vehicle where we were waiting. This is the same type of service that we received from Alamo at IAH, BWI, and other locations over the last 18 months. I used to rent almost exclusively from Avis, but I am now a loyal Alamo customer.

The lady working the national/alamo booth was very rude and had a tone in her voice from the moment we walked up to the counter. I can't remember her name but it was something along the lines of ballista. She was pushy and when the policy wouldnt let my HUSBAND be the primary driver using my card without charging us an extra $25 a day. She was rude and argumentative about the situation.

Not good I made a big mistake when I drop my car off a the Birmingham airport, and I left my expensive Prescription Glasses in the driver side door that I just purchase. Witness in my car saw me put them in the case I did contact Alamo in Birmingham airport numerous times , and later the case was turn in after cleaning the car with the case empty. In the case there also was a very good cloth for cleaning also removed . What is happen here someone removed my items , and no one at Alamo can Compensate me as a loyal customer. 933262998

I rented a car online and paid in advance. My credit card company sent me a new card with updated features and the card number changed. The customer service at the counter of Alamo handled the situation with professionalism and I was able to still rent the car and get to my conference. The car was clean and was a pleasure to drive. I will recommend Alamo and will definitely rent from the company again.
Rented a truck, and rear passenger door came open while vehicle was moving. Called 877/800 number as I could not get anyone to answer locally, and they were not as helpful as I would have hoped via phone.
Despite one incident with a customer service rep, the rest of the staff is AWESOME and FRIENDLY. Makes you feel like a part of their family. The ease of renting with Alamo was just that, easy. I will rent again and thank you all for great customer service.

Great Agents at check-in. Car they gave me was less than 1/2 full so I was immediately given another vehicle. All of the rent cars have too small an engine but all features worked well. At return, was promptly met by an agent, given a receipt and was on my way. An overall GREAT experience.

I rented a Chevrolet Impala at a good price. Service was excellent. I will rent from Alamo again the next time I travel. My only complaint is that Alamo gives you two keys that are tied together, and they can't be separated. I felt like I was carrying a boat anchor in my pocket. MH
I rent from Alamo all the time but my last 2 rental experiences have been bad. My last rental they gave me a car with a broken radio. They had sold out of all car types that I rented so they had to put me in a gas guzzling jeep. This time I go to pick up the car and they tell me they just started charging a $200 deposit. They have never charged me a deposit before and no one told me until time to pick up my vehicle. And yes i have a major credit card!! What if I didn't have an extra $200. So 2 strikes you are out with me I'm done with Alamo.
I've been renting cars since 2000 with Alamo and National. Customer service this past year has been awful, employees are very young and very unprofessional. The company needs to have a training session on customer service. What happen to the older employees, 40 and up?

Arrived at the Montgomery Airport to find the the car rental place was on sight. Very big pulse for me. After the paperwork I was out the door and into my car in short order. Since I had an early flight I had to use the drop off box and no issues to report
The staff (Dana?) and manager of Alamo Rent A Car located at BHM airport is rude, inconsiderate and utterly incompetent. My wife called needing to modify an existing reservation due to a death in the family. Picking up a car 2 days earlier than previously planned would seem like a simple request. Apparently a request of this magnitude is more difficult than differential equations and organic chemistry. Dana took our call on the evening of 5/16/2017 and failed to call us back at all. When my wife called again the following morning the first person she spoke with responded by saying "Oh ma'am, we ain't got not cars at that time." While this may have been true, her inability to grasp the English language prompted my wife to ask to speak to her manager. The manager of the Alamo/National rental counter in BHM was unable to assist and said our request could not be completed. A suitable solution was not offered. This experience left my wife in tears. Individuals as incompetent and ineffective as those working the rental counter the morning of 5/17/2017 do not deserve employment in a customer facing role. The world does need ditch diggers... Maybe these employees should consider a career change, one more suited to their mental capacity. We will never rent from Alamo/National/Enterprise again. I suggest you do likewise.
I made a reservation on line with Alamo Car Rental and when I went to pick up the vehicle I was told that I could not rent the car because I needed to have a credit card and that they stopped taking debit cards t5 years ago, in which was a lie because they still take debit cards and I just rented a car from them last year with my debit card. Now my issue is the people in the terminal need to know the policy and procedures and not be rude to the customers. I will never use Alamo again.
Rented a compact car and was given the Nissan Versa. Brand new car did not have any pick up and the slightest amount of wind would blow us on the highway. Other than that it was fair. I was very disappointed in being charged $150 to drop the car off in Montgomery rather than Birmingham. That is a big rip off. I will NOT every rent from you again.

I have rented with Alamo at Birmingham once before and both times it was a very simple process. I was pleasantly surprised by an amazing upgrad this last time. Alamo has always been very friendly, cooperative, and reasonably priced. I used to rent exclusively with Dollar and now am an Alamo renter all the way.
Pros- easy check out as long as you already have your confirmation ready. Cons-not enough workers, long line after long flight. Just wanted to get car and head to hotel.

So I downloaded the app, got everything set up and planned, then self parked somewhere and got shuttled to the airport so I could pick up my rental only to be denied because of them not able to do a deposit with a debit card. It would’ve been very helpful to have all of this information pop up on the app Ahead of time, like once I booked my reservation and got my confirmation #, instead of me wasting 90 minutes taking my truck somewhere and paying for parking, then getting the shuttle, then waiting in line at the rental spot, then waiting to go back to my truck because now the shuttle is across town and I have to wait to be picked up...Biggest waste of time ever. I should’ve been on the road already and will never use Alamo again.

Never any problems. Always get a better car if they are out of the one I rented - never a lesser one. Alamo is always the leader when it comes to the best price. Always good, clean cars. The only time I had any problems was a rental a few years back - One of my grandkids had lost an iPod and had a very difficult time getting to a lost and found number that answered, but that was then and this is now.
This particular experience was not very satisfactory from the time I arrived at the desk until the end of my rental. The young lady at the desk was very unpleasant, which is usually not the case with Alamo agents. Additionally, the car type I reserved wasn't available, which has happened before, but the vehicle I was assigned was FILTHY. There is no way the condition of that vehicle met any standard of presentation. The exterior was filthy and there was leftover trash and dirt/debris on the inside. If the car I've reserved isn't available, I believe I should be able to choose what I'd like to drive rather than be given a dirty vehicle from another vendor, ESPECIALLY when I reserved a car and got an SUV, but there were several cars (different classes) available. I am pretty loyal to Alamo, but the last few times have been questionable.

Desk agent was extremely professional and friendly. Also, the car rental (Nissan Rogue) was clean and served my needs. Two recommendations for Alamo. ..(1)rental rates be more reasonable and (2)agent readiness for a group of customers to recieve their car rental.
Lady at the counter in Birmingham Alabama was rude. And charged me for an extra day even though I was quoted a different price online. The only reason she got away with it is because it was a holiday weekend and nobody else had cars available. I just Love getting screwed.

The vehicle was not cleaned prior to my rental. It had a horrible smell like someone previously spilled something in it. I complained to the agency and was told "wow, you are right it sticks in there" but was not given a compensation.
