Family of 5, 3 kids 2 adults went on this 8 mile rafting trip with Sam as our guide and it was awesome! One of the best experiences and Sam is full of fun facts and little games to play in the calm areas of the river. Had dinner booked by Ty half way through and it was AMAZING probably the best food I've ever eaten, seared Tuna, BBQ'd bison, mint coleslaw, homemade pickles and jerky, chocolate chip brownies, jalepeno cornbread and delicious green beans. The whole experience was amazing and I can't wait to do it again!

Nate was our guide on the Snake River rafting trip with Mad River boat trips. We had 6 people in a boat with him, and we all had a blast. I have done a fair amount of rafting between the Colorado River and out in West Virginia, and this was one of the better groups I have been out with. They feed you a phenomenal meal on the trip as well.

The float trip was very nice. The day of our trip was windy and snowy, (June 7) we opted to do the trip any. Out guide was knowledgeable and friendly, pointing out animals all along the way. I expected the geese, moose, and ducks but was happily surprised to see 5 bald eagles. My husband and I will use Mad River Boat Trips if we are ever in Jackson Hole again. Next time we will try something else.

Wow did we have a good time. We went in late August which tends to be a more laid-back time for rafting given the melting season is basically all but over...we hit about 10-12 class 2 rapids and one class 3. KC is the group leader and was also our guide and he was phenomenal. The guides were very knowledgeable about the rapids and the river as well as the surrounding area. I highly highly recommend Mad River Boat Trips to anyone looking to go rafting with a spontaneous and highly energetic crew that will almost guarantee one of the most memorable experiences of your lifetime.

This was my first ever whitewater rafting experience, and it was wonderful. The view was fantastic and definitely guaranteed to overwhelm anyone. Saw many bald eagles along the way which was pretty cool. Our tour guide Katy is amazing, funny, experienced, and very approachable. Had an awesome time. Be prepared to put in a workout with all the paddling. The only reason why I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is because I think it's a bit on the expensive side (about $80 per person). If they can get it down to around $65, that would be perfect. =D

The process is organized and efficient. Be aware that during periods of low flow (August - 3000 cfs) the rapids are few, short, and far between. Our rafting was more scenic float than exhilarating adventure even though we booked the small boat rapid excursion. I wouldn't repeat the trip considering the cost, but the company itself seemed great. They provide splash gear free of charge.

My husband and I booked this river rafting trip for August and had a great time. The guide was very knowledgeable about the river and local area. Our trip included lunch 3/4 of the way through the ride on the beach. The food was great. We felt very safe with our guide. The river is not as wild or cold in August as it is in June so if you want a more wild ride go early in the season. We were happy with the more lazy river and only a few wild spots. The company did provide rain jackets to help you stay dry. We would definitely recommend this adventure.

I thought this was a lot of fun. It's a couple hours of rafting down the river, cold water (but they give you lots of layers). I can't say it was terribly different than other rafting trips I've done, but they've all been pretty good, so no reason to complain. We had little kids on board and they did fine too. So as long as you're comfortable swimming (just in case, we didn't even come close to tipping), this trip is great for everyone!

The team furnishes you wet suits and you can rent booties and towels for an additional fee. Our guide was was very focused on safety which is a plus with smaller children. Keep your eyes for bald eagles.

We absolutely loved this! Our kids were age 9,11, and 13 and had a blast. The 9 year old didn't paddle, she just felt comfortable setting and holding on. We were on a small boat which was perfect. Our guide was not only experienced and very comfortable on the water, but also very entertaining and made us laugh. I never once felt unsafe as the rapids are short lived and all the safety precautions were reviewed at the beginning of the trip. I would definitely recommend Mad River Boat Trips to my friends.

My daughter and I had a blast on this scenic trip! We went July 17, 2019, when the water of the Snake River was very high. Because of that, and because the water was murky, we were able to see Bald Eagles on sand bars, looking closely for fish. Beautiful! The trip was relaxing and fun. Our guide, Jeff, was knowledgeable and funny, as was his guide in training, Athena. We did white water ten years ago, but I am older and wanted the time to see life on the river. I highly recommend this trip. We had so much fun!!!

"That was intense!" - Winnie, 6 years old Fun family activity, it was the highlight of our vacation. Exciting going through the rapids, and a relaxing raft ride on the calm stretches. FYI, our 6 year old was too small to paddle and rode in the middle, but another child in our group that was 8 was big enough to be a paddler. Our guide, Ryan, was great. We had a blast on Mad River's small boat trip! Our guide, Ryan, was fabulous. He did a good job teaching us what to do and being prepared for the various river conditions. He was also fun and entertaining! He started out getting to know us and getting a feel for our skill level. Then, he pushed us just a little past our comfort zone...exactly the trip we hoped for! The photographers also did a fabulous job and got some amazing shots. The pristine river (tortoise with amazing clarity) is something I'll never forget. We did the Mad River Small Boat trip down the Snake River and it was a blast! Aaron was our guide and did a fantastic job of being very knowledgeable about the geology of the area as well as telling us how the river flow changed over time due to mudslides, rock slides and other natural events. We saw bald eagles, a mountain goat, got wet and had tons of fun. Book a trip with these guys, you won't be disappointed.

We had booked a trip for white water rafting in the medium boats on the Snake River and my family including my 9 and 11 year old children were looking forward to the trip. I had called at the time of booking (2 weeks prior) and was told that there was high water and if it stayed at high water, the 11 year old could go (10 year old cutoff age) on the smaller boat but the 9 year old would not be able to go. We were also told that to offset this, we could go to the largest boat for white water rafting that they had. We were told to go ahead and book the medium size boat and we could change it as we got closer. It was never stated that they could not go at all. At exactly 5:08 pm the night before the trip, a message was left on my phone stating that my children were underage for this trip. I called back and was told that with the high water, the age for rafting was now 12 years of age or older. I really appreciate their attention to safety and making sure that nothing untoward happened to my children. But, it would have been nice to have given us some advanced notice so we could have booked some other excursion. Did they not know that it was going to be high water 2-3 days before they called me? With no advanced notice and after talking with other tour companies (wildlife, etc) who were booked, we were unable to schedule anything for the next day. They also tried to push a scenic raft trip on us when they called to cancel which makes the timing of their call look like they were trying to make a buck since we could not do the white water rafting.

My husband and I went on a river rafting trip Labor Day weekend for his birthday and it was amazing! I'd never gone river rafting before, so I was a little nervous. The tour guides were so nice and friendly. They explained everything we needed to know and joked with us constantly the whole time on the river. Based on the size of your group, you get paired up with other pairings or small groups for each raft. Obviously you get wet, but they provide gear for you to wear, including a lifejacket, that helps keep you a little drier. We were on the river for a couple hours and had an amazing time! Ryan was our guide and he was great at helping our raft work as a team and have a really fun time. There is a separate company that takes your picture on the biggest rapid, and then you can choose to purchase and download the picture(s) later. I'm so glad we went, I only wish we'd gone earlier in the summer so we could've gone a second time before the cold weather hit.

We chose the smallest raft and got soaked! It was a blast. When water is splashing over your head it will find its way into every nook and cranny. Yes, even under the outer jacket and wet suit. It’s refreshing. If you are going white water rafting and come back dry, really, what’s the point? You might as well watch TV. We didn’t tip over and nobody fell out. However, I did swallow several large gulps of river water being up front and all. Yum. Just do it you big baby! :)

We chose Mad River because they allowed 4 year olds; turns out that's because their guides have higher levels of certifications that allow for younger participants.

I love Mad River! My family has a home in Jackson and we're regular visitors to the area. I've tried several other local rafting companies (Sands, Barker-Ewing, Lewis & Clark, etc), and while they are all good I always find myself going back to Mad River. Their whitewater trips are always safe and fun, and booking them is a breeze. I've done 5 whitewater trips with them in the last 4 years (guides were Nate, Adam, and William), and loved every single one of them. Their dinner trips are my favorite and every time I take a newbie rafting I book it for them and they love it. Their guides and office staff are wonderful. My only suggestion would be for them to get some shirts with their mascot Betty on them!

The best rafting company in Jackson. It was my first experience doing rafting, but they did great job. They explained everything what we have to do and how to move. Our guide, Mark, was good and had a lot of stories to tell, so it was really fun. I wish river would be more rough. They have 3 sizes of boats (6, 8 and 12 people), we choose 6 and I think it’s the best because you can participate in all process. Trip took about 3-3,5 hours, but time went so fast, we even didn’t realize. For locals they even have discounts for trips

What a wild ride!!! I was terrified beforehand, but our guide, Bryce, made me feel completely at ease. His instructions were great and he made sure we stayed safe while having fun (including our boys aged 14 and 10). A memory we’ll cherish forever! The Mad River set up is brilliant. It’s like a well oiled machine. Everybody is super friends and helpful, they even drove us to and from our campground. Thank you Max River, couldn’t have been better

Our first time rafting and I can't rave about it enough. Our guide was Maddy and she was fantastic. She made an effort to learn everyone's name and was great with the kiddo's on board. She was incredibly friendly, played games with the kids, shared her knowledge of the area's we were in and just made it such a fun and enjoyable experience. Be sure to ask for her!! Everyone was super professional and helpful.I wish my vacation was longer so we could have gone again.

August 2019...We took the Whitewater Rafting trip on the Snake River. Our guide was Phil and he was great. The rafting trip was a blast! We had our 12 yr. old grandson with us and he had a blast. The bus driver to and from the river was also great. Very friendly staff. Our only complaint was the hike up the long hill to get back to the bus when it was over. We didn't have any idea that was part of this trip. I'm 70 yrs. old and in fairly good health and this just about did me in! I can see where someone with knee problems or breathing problems would not have been able to make it. It went on and on for quite a while. I think the guest should at least be told that that is how you get back to your bus at the end of the rafting trip. Otherwise, I would highly recommend Mad River Boat Trips. This was actually our second time to use them. The first was 10 yrs. ago for a Snake River Scenic float trip which was also amazing. Thank you!

We had a ton of fun here! It's a nice easy boat ride for young kids or those who are nervous or new at rafting. But at the same time it has just enough rapid to make it tons of fun! You can rent wet suits there on cold days as well so no need to worry about the weather. It is quite expensive though.

My family did the trail ride with the scenic float. Our experience was outstanding. The A-Ok Corral was wonderful to us first time horse riders. Our Mad River guide was excellent and was able to tell us a lot about the area and animals.

I had a blast! i was worried they were going to cancel due to weather. It was cloudy and rainy. They had us wear wet suits and despite the weather I had a blast! Our guide was awesome! He was very knowledgeable about the river and about local favorites in the area. Definitely doing this again! Next time we are going in the front!

The river was great, the experience was top notch. The guide might have had good river skills, but had terrible people skills! He talked badly to the customer and was trying to get one of the lead rowers replaced. We made it through safely, I guess he knew his job?

First, our Rafting Guide Hailey was great. She was kind, courteous, and polite. Our super-small boat had two first timers. It was pretty funny when Hailey was the only person to fall out. She was a good sport and carried on. Secondly, the only poor experience that we had on our trip (this is my 6th or 7th time to float with Mad River) was the bus driver. As you know, getting first timers prepared for a rafting trip can be time consuming. So, we took Mad Rivers advice and showed up 30 mins ahead of time. It did not help that the individuals working the wetsuit/booties station were not in much of a hurry to help us. Much to my surprise Mad River was not busy. After two of our folks got fitted for a wet suit and got everything back to the truck it was 9:25. I was waiting on the patio for the rest of our party to finish getting ready in the last few moments before 9:30. The older lady who drove the bus commanded that we be on the bus promptly. We were not late. I explained that we had two newbies and that they were having difficulty getting their wetsuits on, what to do with truck keys, valuables, and getting lathered up in sunscreen. She was unmoved by my response and reminded me again that everyone must be on the bus promptly. It made us all feel like cattle. This is the first time that I have felt that way at Mad River. I know when you put as many people down the river as Mad River does you need to be organized and on schedule. I like that. I appreciate that. I let her know that we had two more individuals and they were almost finished getting ready. At this moment one of the individuals from behind the counter commended her for treating us the way she did. It was rather sad. The child-like feeling that we felt was quickly washed away by the waves of the Snake River. We are adults. We are humans. We are paying customers.

The river was running very high but we felt extremely safe with our guide and the safety precautions taken by Mad River. Our group did the standard 8-mile white water with Mark as our guide. Couldn't have been happier. The meeting place was clean and nice and the guy at the desk VERY patiently answered our many questions about the temperature of the water, what to expect, what we should wear, etc....which certainly he has heard a million times. They even had private dressing areas to change into and out of clothing. The bus trip was comfortable, and the life-vests clean, dry, and nicely organized. The instruction was clear. Our guide had the perfect blend of being friendly and personable without being "too much". He was there to give us a great ride down the river, and I appreciated the fact that he didn't try to give us some environmental speech, promote "Mad River" or the pictures being taken, or act "cool" or "tough". The whole experience was professional and very fun!

Our group had a wonderful experience HOWEVER, we can't find any photos of our group coming down the river. I've writer a couple of times and they've all indicated that was the day that their photographers finished up taking photos for the season. How disappointing. We floated on Monday, the last week of the season. Beautiful weather, a little chilly, but who cares, they were cold anyway. They were on the 12:30pm raft ride. Whatever you can do to find our boat would sure be helpful. In fact, I'd recommend you for a big raise for next year. Have a great holiday. (Halloween)

Dear Mad River Boat Trips, but especially Corey! We really enjoyed Friday morning 26 July 2019, see the photos. Our Captain Corey skillfully guided us through the water rapids. He also told us with great enthusiasm how to look at the water where you could tell from what kind of acceleration it would be. He said that the water was average at this time and was just about one meter higher just after the thaw due to the melt water. By the way, we thought this was tough and rough enough hahaha! Our guide was Fitz, he was very knowledgeable about the trip and other questions we had. We took the 1215 tour so they fed us a tasty sack lunch. We saw 4 moose and 3 bald eagles. It was a 3 hour float trip, very enjoyable and relaxing. I will do it again when I return. Great job guys!

We did the Classic Mad River rafting on the Snake River. It was worth every penny. They have options for every type of adventurer. Since we had not done river rafting, we did the classic and it was perfect. Bridget was our boat captain and she was awesome. Our family of 5 with children ages 15, 13 and 10 did a small boat standard 8-mile trip on July 6th and it was great. We just rented booties and a short wetsuit for our 10 year old. Water is a little chilly but we were fine. Saw a deer and lots of eagles and osprey.

We made reservations in February for a trip in early July. We received a reminder card and emails a few days before the trip. We arrived an hour before our rafting trip was supposed to leave only to be told that we had been bumped from our trip. The best excuse they could give was “waiver issues” that they said were completely their fault. They offered us a time 4 hours later in the day, which didn’t work, given our schedule. From our family’s experience, their 4.8 star rating is completely undeserved.
