My family and I have purchased several homes in different locations in and out of Wyoming. BrokerOne was without a doubt the worst experience we’ve had with a realtor. We thought we had found a good realtor, John Trost, from the treatment we were experiencing up until we signed our contract to build a home in one of their new developments. From that point on we had a hard time getting our realtor to call us back when we had questions. Actually, we only had a call back after we had called at least two sometimes three times. The first major problem we had was when we realized that they made a change to our contract to build without our consent and made it look like we had agreed to this change. We also made an addendum to our contract to remove an upgrade we originally wanted and they snuck a lot change into the addendum. We signed the addendum in a hurry because we were getting a late start on our drive (14 hours) back to Arizona where we lived when we purchased the home. I am kicking myself for not reading the addendum with a fine tooth comb. At this point we believed that our realtor had our best interests in mind and would help us to make an informed decision like we were paying him to do. However changing the location of our home without even a mention of it to us when all we wanted to do is take off an upgrade showed us that they did not have our best interests in mind. When we caught the error a few months later, once we had actually moved to Casper, they were very uncooperative. They initially stated that they would give us an upgrade for our trouble and later rebuffed that, saying that we must have been informed and therefore calling us liars. Our realtor then said he would give us a gift card for his commission because he knew that he didn’t inform us, that was also a lie. Our last issue with this company is that we were supposed to have at least 45 days’ notice (as our contract stated) of when the house would be finished so we could get our financing together. We were notified 26 days before the house was finished which pushed our closing date back nearly three weeks. We were warned about BrokerOne and their lack of organization and service and I wish we had listened to the warning. We fell prey to the “thousands of dollars” they spend on advertising which sucked us in. Once we expressed our frustration to others in the community we heard all sorts of bad comments about BrokerOne. Ask around and whatever you do don’t sign anything with this company without reading every last word of the document! I would like to give you some positives so that this won’t just sound like a rant, but I truly cannot come up with one positive thing about BrokerOne.
