At the end of June 2015 I sent an email to Kelli Howison at the Bellevue Redfin office asking for information and to be contacted. I have a home that I want to list/sell.
A day or so later I received an email back from Elisa Ruehlmann--according to the email she "assists" Kelli. Elisa asked for information on the home I wanted to list/sell. After giving her this information I received another email from her telling me:
Hi George,
I’m going to give you a call to touch base about this.
Thanks!
Elisa
I never did get a call.
Two days later I received another email from Elisa informing me that I would be better off working with one of their "Partner" agents who would discount his normal commission and provide me the same great service that I would get from Redfin.
(It seems that their advertisement of a 1.5% commission has a minimum of $5500. No where in the advertising did i see a minimum requirement. This would be a sales price of $367,000 and my property would be less than that.)
In any case, their Partner agent, Jeff Dilley from Hallmark Realty, called me from his car. He told me how busy he was and that he would definitely call me in the next day or so to arrange a time to visit the property. It has now been a week and no call.
The Redfin web site indicates that their agents are " paid based on your satisfaction, not commission".
The day after Mr Dilley called me I received still another email from Redfin, asking "Please take our two-minute survey about your experience so far." I simply informed them that I would not be one of their satisfied customers.
If they treat potential clients like this before a contract is signed..... I can only imagine what it would be like AFTER.
I consider myself lucky to have found out when I did.
