We only dealt with one of their agents so this review my not be representative of the whole agency. If they fire him we will remove this review.
n January 2013 we contacted Mr. Tourville because we wanted to make an offer on a property he was the listing agent for. We told him that we had no real estate agent ourselves and that we did not need one because we have a friend who is an attorney who would look over the paperwork. He replied that this particular seller required that the buyer also has an agent. So we asked him if he could function in a dual agency position and represent us to which he agreed. Then we asked if he charges a reduced fee for dual agency functions as it is customary in the business. He replied per email advising us that he was not a discount broker. This seemed like an odd reply to us but we decided to accept, especially considering that the agents fees are paid by the seller and not by the buyer. We replied to his email telling him that we are fine with this arrangement but that we thought he would have automatically reduced the commission fee due to the dual agency condition and due to the fact that he did not have to find the buyer, the main effort and expense of a realtor, but rather was approached by us.
He promptly replied with an email which we thought would contain the documents ready for us to sign to get our offer in. Instead, Mr. Tourville told us he would not be working for us and that we would need to find a different agent.
Aside from the time and effort we spend sending him all our information, proof of funds and an earnest money check it turned out that we actually lost this property to another buyer. Apparently, Mr. Tourville was offended by us merely inquiring but not insisting if he would reduce his double fee because there was practically no extra work involved for him.
We found this behavior most questionable, rude and unprofessional and it seems like there are some personality problems at play causing him to behave in such fashion. We lost the house and hours of our time, unnecessarily.
