Finally...SUCCESS! Paul Sliwka is a gem of a person and a fabulous facilitator of realizing one's dream! Notice that I did not simply refer to Paul as an "agent" - because he is much more than that... My Mom, recently retired out of the District and into new waterfront digs. She had a nightmare experience trying to rent her NW DC condo and after almost a year of carrying two monthly housing payments, decided that selling would better suit her needs. Paul drove the 120 miles rt to Moms house to meet with her. She talked. He listened AND HEARD(!!!) her concerns/hopes/dreams/fears. In fact, Paul drove that 120rt miles 3 or 4 times to complete the necessary paperwork and sometimes, simply chat with my Mom. Today, she closed on the sale of her condo. Mission accomplished! That was gratifying. In my experience, its been rare to find someone that successfully combines expertise in their field with compassion for people. Paul Sliwka is one of those folks! He seems to truly love what he does and that really stood out and resonated with my Mom and I. Thanks for everything Paul! GG

Walking into central Properties gave me a sense that I was making the right decision. The employees are extremely professional and go beyond to help you with all of your real estate needs. DC homeowners: Do NOT choose Central Properties for property management. Property management is their lowest priority. I was a tenant who was displaced for 6 weeks because of flooding from the DC sewer system. Central Properties does not have an emergency hotline. If your home floods or burns down in the middle of the night, don't expect to hear from them until normal business hours. For us, they were quick to get a demolition team in, but then the unit sat unmanaged and in ruin for over a month. They blamed contractors for not getting to work faster and strung us along. I cannot emphasize enough what a terrible experience this was. They have no project management skills or a sense of urgency, and we worked with someone who holds the title of "Chief" in the company. Rhymes with Hen. They have forced the tenants to be homeless, living their life in half-week increments and cost the Owner ~$4,500 in lost rent. The other 5-star reviews are clearly plants, as two have popped up within the same week to counter my detailed and specific 0-star review, which tells you something about their corporate integrity.

I've purchased and sold numerous homes over the years. Paul Sliwka of Central Properties DC represented me for the sale and purchase of my most recent homes. I sincerely wish he had been my representative for all the properties I've owned over time. My experience with Paul and Central Properties was exceptional. He listened to my wants and to my concerns...actually listened, and did an outstanding job of explaining market conditions, what I could expect from him and his company, and then delivered. Selling and buying even in the best of markets is stressful. He offered full support and guidance thru the entire process and I could not of asked for more or better results. Paul Sliwka and Central Properties have managed our properties over the past three years with excellence and professionalism while we have been abroad. Nothing has been left to chance and we have always been fully informed of any repairs or queries as soon as they happen. In fact Paul managed our condo to be ready for rent for a new tenant by organizing all above par contractors for painting, windows, plumbing etc., and even overseeing the purchase of new appliances so all would be ready for the tenants to move in. Paul Sliwka is the best real estate broker in the D.C. metro area, Maryland and Virginia included. My husband and I have been Paul’s clients for the past 7 years. Paul helped us purchase our first home in 2010, sell that home last year in 2015, and purchase our second (and forever) in 2015. In fact, Paul sold our first home at record speed at an exceedingly great price, and he helped us purchase our second home at an extremely aggressive price. Paul is thoroughly knowledgeable about the real estate market in the DC metro area – neighborhood by neighborhood – and also knows building construction issues very well. He was able to assess the structural integrity of each home we visited to determine whether it was a worthwhile investment or a “money pit.” It’s also worth noting that Paul is extremely patient. His commission was never a priority. He was only concerned about finding us the perfect home at the right price, even if that meant showing us many many properties. And we never felt pressured to buy; Paul took the time to educate us about prospective homes, neighborhoods, and eventual appreciation of property values so we could have maximum knowledge before purchasing a home.
