I called and stated “I’m trying to find a counselor for my 5 year old son” and provided his date of birth. I told the lady I only had one day off and she had an availability. I got multiple reminder texts about the appointment. Then, appointment day rolls around and I pick my son up early from school and am on my way there when I get a text, 15-20 mins before the appointment that says the doctor only sees patients 6+ years and it’s cancelled. I wasted my only week day off (I’m normally m-f), took my child out of school early, and was on my way into the clinic by the time this message was received. Absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable. I could have found a different clinic that would accept my 5 year old that day had I been provided enough notice. Because of the recepionists big overlook I now have to find another provider, take time off work, and likely pull my child from school early again.
