REVIEWS OF Midwest Psychological Services IN Wisconsin

John Kitto

I was a patient of Midwest psychological services for the last few years. I feel they have helped me tremendously. I have been treated with courtesy and respect. I would recommend them to others going through troubled times.

Laura Ritt

Was sent here by the VA for a comp and pen exam. I was basically called a liar in this guy's report. Funny. My entire mental health team at the VA has diagnosed me with PTSD and I've been being treated for years for it. But, apparently I'm lying about it.

I have seen Audrey Nevins for several years. She has been the constant force in my growth. Her kindness and passion for patients wellness is genuine and sincere. I have also entrusted Midwest Psychological Services with helping my family and friends.

Paula McMach

I came in here with my marriage falling apart, strung out on pain medication and totally hopeless that anything could change. With our therapist's spiritual, emotional and relational guidance I was able to get my marriage back and regain so much of the life that I lost. Praise God!!

Marissa Couch

I have used Midwest Psychological Services for a few years. They have helped me through some of the most difficult times in my life. Their staff is always courteous and respects my privacy. I feel I have made great strides since speaking with Audrey.

Gladys Walker

Therapy is very challenging and painful at times but my counselor creates a safe place to do so. In my work here, I have experienced profound changes, ones that are setting me free. I am finding self-love and love for others in way I never have.

There was not an option to select zero stars, so I had to select one. Please recognize that I have nothing to gain from this review other than preventing others from receiving services from a company with unethical and illegal practices. I have only filed one formal complaint in my life—It relates to Midwest Psychological Services. After seeing Dr. Holmgren, his smoking during appointments, forgetting medications I was taking, and answering phone calls during our telepsychiatry appointments made me a bit concerned. Due to this seemingly “off” behavior, I did my research, and found that he has a class H felony related to substance abuse (in my opinion, related to his job as a psychiatrist). It is concerning to me that this is not shared with patients. I called around and tried to get into see different psychiatrists with no luck due to the extreme shortage, so I continued with Dr. Holmgren until I could finally get in with a different provider. On two occasions, I was asked by Dr. Holmgren to return extra controlled substances via a random desk drawer and fake computer speaker in his office (yes, you read that correctly). To my knowledge, this is illegal and I have no idea where these substances ended up. There were also a couple occasions where I requested refills far in advance (approximately 1-2 weeks since I know Dr. Holmgren takes a bit of time to respond to messages), and I had to follow-up up many times as I was going to be going completely cold turkey off of powerful medication. Dr. Holmgren also performed a saliva genetic test on me to determine medications that might be a good fit for my DNA. I was consulted on the results (and charged for office visits), but never was able to physically see the documents. I believe these tests were never actually performed. I wrote to the owner, Bradley Nevins, with my concerns and he never contacted me directly to respond to these concerns (discussed with my psychologist, but to my knowledge, no improvements have been made). I requested my medical records formally in Fall 2018, and have still not received them (to my knowledge, this is HIPAA violation). I have checked in several times on the status of these records and have yet to see any documents (I am especially interested in the genetic testing results that I believe do not exist). I have since filed a formal complaint with the State of Wisconsin. I had been seeing a fabulous psychologist at Midwest Psychological Services, Katie Priebe, and after experiencing an odd billing issue (just received a bill for Feb. 2018, not the first odd billing issue—Not Katie Priebe’s fault), I recently went to call Midwest Psychological Services. When I looked up their company on Google to quickly grab the phone number, the company reviews popped up. After reading some of the reviews and finding that they sounded very phony, I noticed that many of the reviewers had reviewed in approximately five states (some trends between the states), and it’s quite amazing how many reviewers had used TruGreen Lawn Care. It is my belief that these are fake reviews in an attempt to save their reputation. After this discovery, I unfortunately will no longer be seeing my great psychologist, Katie Priebe, because I refuse to give another dime to a company with such illegal and unethical practices. I am at a loss for what else to do to educate others/end these horrific practices, so I now turn to a Google review. I hope this post helps others make an informed decision regarding their healthcare.

My counselor here has a calm way of seeing right through the noise and addressing the real problem with care and support. I am so happy to have found Midwest Psychological Services.

Ashlee Sorensen

Audrey has been absolutely wonderful. I went through several other therapist before I found her and she truly changed my life. I was always comfortable walking into her office and felt better every time I left. She truly cared about helping me and was always straight forward and honest. I am forever grateful.

Becky Peabody

I've been seeing Dr Nevins and Dr Gendron. They are both not only profprofessional but caring and genuinely want the best for me. I couldn't be in better hands right now. I got really lucky when I chose this facility. Someone left negative feedback for Dr Nevins which I feel is so unfair and truely done out of spite for whatever reason. This man would never come into the waiting room and yell at anyone especially a family with children. Not in a million years! Please do not let this single negative feedback detour you from seeing him. He is wonderful.

Speaking from both personal and professional experiences over the last two years, it's challenging to convey just how grateful I am to have found an agency that is trustworthy, professional and highly effective. I began working with a Counselor at MPS during a time of significant personal need, and my struggles were immediately embraced, yet also challenged with compassion. The lessons/tools that my therapist and I work on have been invaluable for my personal growth as well as developing healthy relationships with those around me. I truly believe my therapist deserves credit for creating real change in longstanding patterns of dysfunctional behaviors, and for showing me how find and accept true happiness!

Lorie Hare

I am happy to have learned that change is not a straight line. I continue to try and better myself using the tools that my counselor has provided.

Randy Sager

Both my husband and I were pretty hesitant about counseling but now, thanks to our sessions at Midwest, we really believe that it can help. Our counselor gently brought some realities to light and equipped us with real-life tools to deal with some problems.

Terri Shepard

I can honestly say I’ve never dealt with a more caring therapist. She helps you find what works for you in a trusting safe environment. This is a journey not a quick fix. I only wish I had found Midwest Psychological Services sooner.

Sue Bergstrom

I have worked with both Brad and Audrey and they have been extraordinary supportive and helpful in navigating through challenging situations at different times in my life. The insight I've gained have been life-changing. I can't say enough good things about them!

Mary Peterson

I thank God each Day for Audrey -- I was caregiving for my dying mother who had multiple strokes and dementia while dealing with narcissistic and toxic people who were emotionally abusing me. ( Similar to teaching my child to ride a bike by steading them as they start to stumble and staying By their side while they strengthen their stride) Audrey has stayed by my side in a very compassionate caring professional way •• random acts of kindness, mindfulness ••. I would recommend MPS to anyone THEY are top notch!

Kimberly Powers

MPS had changed my life. My therapist has helped me overcome challenging life events as well as deal with adversity in a proactive and productive manner. I have learned how to recover from abuse and stress and manage my life in a positive way. My experience has been so amazingly rewarding that I have also referred my closest friends who need help with life’s challenges.

Irene Callaghan

There are so many therapy styles and approaches out there, but for me, my Midwest counselor is a perfect match for my therapy needs. She listens intently and guides me to find my own resolution to struggles.

Sue Sukowatey

Me and my wife Christina have been going to see Brad Nevins together for several years now and we both know him really we'll he's nice, kind, caring, and he has a really big heart. And in all the year's that we have been going to see him he has never once yelled at anybody and he never raised his voice at anybody. And he would never raise his voice to kids with disabilities either, he's not that kind of guy who would get angry its not in his character he's a good person and a good therapist.

Gary Ryan

After many years with other therapists I feel like I’ve finally found someone who will help me finally heal from deep trauma. Through his guidance, he is empowering me to live life from the inside out instead of the outside in.

Lindsey Kate

My counseling sessions have been indispensable in building a new self reliant foundation that becomes increasingly stronger every day.

David Smith

My therapeutic sessions have been amazing! With this guidance I was able to re-visit buried emotions that I knew were present but was unable to address until now. Thank you.

Crystina Smith

I have been seeing Dr. Bradley Nevins for over 10 years because of his expertise in the mental health system. He had seen me through many difficult times in my life. Helping to find other therapists for my family to see. Hiring therapist who specialize in the field of Autism work so my ASD daughter had a therapist to meet her special needs. Even opening up a child therapy clinic at The Meadows. Never have I seen or worked with another clinic who valued the patient like Midwest Psychological Services does and my family over the years had dealt with many therapy clinics in the neighboring counties. I now refer everyone here especially parents with special needs children. I have driven an hour and a half for 5 years because of the quality of care. They truly care for the person behind the diagnosis and that is a rare gem to find!!

Tony Hennes

I have never experienced a more unprofessional environment. They did not keep track of important paperwork or get it to my future therapists. They did not keep anonymity. Will be telling everyone I know to stay away from this place!

Dawn Huberty

I have only been seeing Audrey Nevins for six weeks and it's been incredible learning about myself in the midst of an ovarian cancer diagnosis. Audrey is compassionate and trustworthy. I have had experiences with therapy that were not positive and although I was cautious to start with a new counselor, I knew I must take the opportunity. I have a new set of emotional tools that make sense while navigating this very difficult part of my life. I feel better about myself and have already received the best advice ever; live in the present day. I would gladly recommend MPS to anyone in my life.

Laura Mlynarczyk

As a teenager I had an unproductive experience with a therapist. I went once, and vowed never to waste my time with mental health providers again. The experience was stale, and I felt more like a paycheck than a person; however, as an adult, I knew it was critical for me and my family for me to develop healthy coping strategies for my anxiety. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for calling MPS. I went to the first appointment with skepticism and worry, but these feelings were immediately appeased by the phenomenal therapist. She took an authentic interest in me and my background and met my story with empathy and compassion. We work hard in our sessions. She pushes for honest introspection and reflection, and is always solution oriented. I have learned so many skills that are helping me on my journey toward living my life as the best version of myself.

Jamie Letourneau

Been going to therapy here on and off for the past 7 years and it has helped me through some very difficult times. My therapist is amazing and the front desk staff has always been professional and above kind. Love this place and would highly recommend to anyone.

Sarah Thompson

Horrible receptionist!! Gave me the wrong time to see our son's new therapist but told me I was in the wrong. She wanted to reschedule my son but I was like "I will go elsewhere to find care for my son"..

Andrew Smith

WOW! I was reading the reviews and yes- HALF of the positive reviews are fake, click on the person in the review and they all left reviews for the same couple companies across the US: ADT, Greenlawn, YardBird, etc.... Plus they boast the reviews on their website- Dead giveaway there. I guess I wont be calling this place.

Mandy Mullenberg

Audrey is the most compassionate, professional, and caring Therapist I have seen. It shows she loves her job and takes great pride in her work. I trusted Audrey from my first appointment and always look forward to leaning more from her on how to cope with difficult situations. I would highly recommend MPS and Audrey for therapy!

Tracy Irvin

The receptionist harshly talked down to me, and she asked me questions that was no business of a receptionist. I followed all the steps I needed to for a prescription refill for my child, and I have been ignored for TWO WEEKS. I feel like a ghost. No one has answered my calls or responded to my multiple desperate messages where I literally begged for answers. They ignored my pharmacy sending refill requests. Meanwhile my child is suffering. I am astounded by the lack of professionalism. Really, I'm sitting here just beside myself. I don't understand what happened! This place was instrumental in helping my child on the path to mental health, and I was so grateful. Six months ago I would have given them a 5 star. And all of a sudden we don't matter? Its baffling.

Josh Crowell

My experience here started good but then they stopped returning my phone calls whether it's about setting an appointment or even trying to pay them. If you're looking for somewhere to show concern in helping you, I wouldn't recommend this place.

Jenny Thompson

How Bradley Nevins hasn’t lost his medical liscene surprises me. I stopped taking my child here after I saw him yell at a special needs child and his mother because he was having a break down. The man is a therapist who communicated in the worst way and let everyone in the waiting room know he was mad because a child was upset. Isn’t that maybe why he was seeing a therapist? Wish I could give less than one star.
