My teenage son went to see Jeff Whitfield and it was a fabulously positive experience. His counseling style mixes modern techniques with faith-based counseling (only when identified as a goal) that provides opportunities for growth and connection. He also had the wisdom to treat the whole family as well. Very positive experience, highly recommend!

I wish there was a lower level than one star! I NEVER even went to see anyone here - the service I experienced BEFORE my appointment was appalling. I got 3 charges to my debit card of $99 each! I was never told ANY of these charges would happen. I had to reschedule my appointment because my 2 year old was sick. I was told it was fine and I would not be charged a cancellation fee. I was told the other two $99 charges were for their patient subscription service! I've never heard of such a thing!! Then, I call and I'm put on hold for 20 minutes at a time with NO help! Then I'm told they have to talk to the owner (who I apparently am not allowed to speak with). They refunded ONE of the charges but not the other 2 fraudulent charges. I am disputing these with my bank as they are NOT authorized at all and they are 100% fraudulent. What a despicable business practice. I'm filing complaints with the BBB and my insurance company as well!! RUN RUN RUN away! Do NOT EVER give them your credit/debit card information! They will use it however they want and not care the effect it has on you!!!!! Completely horrible and unethical! RUN AWAY! (I also told them If they resolved this matter, I would NOT post a negative review, but they choose to ignore this request, so here I go!)

If you asked a couple of months ago they would be highly rated. Unfortunately they have decided to refuse current patients because doctors have come and gone. Recently my wife's doctor left the practice and my wife was told to wait a month or so to reschedule. When that time came and went they denied her a new doctor and her medications needed refilled. It takes time to find new care and Thriveworks tossed us to the curb. Honestly mental health means nothing to them. They are happy to take your money but they truly don't care.

It’s good to know a place to call when you are in need of a listening ear as oppose to waiting a few weeks for an appointment. In a relatively short period of time, Jenny has guided us through a process to reconcile some of our interpersonal relationship issues, resulting in a happier 54 year old marriage. We continue to meet regularly with her, and come away from every session with helpful guidance. Thank you, Jenny!

I don't know about the counselor but the office is terrible to work with. They made me pay a $99 fee before I could even make an appointment for my daughter and when she drive an hour and 10 minutes to her first appointment, the doctor was not there. She found an EMAIL cancelling her appointment 2 hours before. I have called the office 6 times to try to rectify and no one has called me back.

I called this am to set up an appointment for my daughter. They called to let me know the Doctor can not see patients under 18. (She is 17 in one week) the receptionist recommendation was to set up an appointment with their counselors and find a Psychiatrist elsewhere. I said NO thank you I’d like all of her care to be done within one facility. She then said “we can set up a therapist and she can just wait and when she turns 18 then we can start treating her with the doctor”. WORST ADVICE EVER. You don’t encourage someone not to seek help by a psychiatrist as her PCP advised (in which she was well aware of) and tell me she can WAIT OVER A YEAR! Very disappointed!! Horrible advice. What if she were in a crisis....I just can not believe it. She should be terminated!

Put on hold for 10 minutes then hung up on. I phoned back waiting 5 minutes to put myself into the call back system. Once received call the LCSW I chose was not on my insurance. I was offered an appointment over 2 weeks out with one who had a description on line that did not fit my needs. The lady setting up appointment tried her best to sell her credentials. I was also told due to my insurance I could only be seen on a certain day of the week and late in the evening. Needless to say. I will be going somewhere else

I’ve had the opportunity to work with Julie Wilcox on two different levels. I’ve been her coworker as a clinical supervisor at a mental health agency for several years; overseeing the provision of home based services. For the past two years, she has been my clinical supervisor as I work towards becoming an LCSW. Julie is undoubtedly one of the best social workers I’ve met in my life. She is truly awesome!! Julie always puts clients first and ensures that they are receiving the best care possible. She remains person-centered with her treatment and practices a multitude of core social work principles daily. She is a solid advocate for clients and does all that she can to ensure clients are treated with the utmost respect and dignity. She is an excellent trainer on an array of topics. She’s trained us on cultural competency; conducting assessments; crisis services; and trauma-focused treatment, to name a few. She is hands-on and spares you the boredom of PowerPoint presentations. Julie’s very creative regarding training and interventions that she provides and she teaches her colleagues how to use them too. In my experience as her supervisee, Julie has taught me so much. She taught me how to sharpen my assessment skills; improve my clinical writing; interpret the DSM5 and give accurate diagnoses; to process my approaches with clients; to increase my self-awareness and be the best that I can be – live practice for the exam. The list goes on and on. Julie’s a great social worker and excellent clinician. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a therapist or a clinical supervisor.

Before you begin counseling services here, you are charged $99 for ‘provider access’ which is non-refundable. After paying this fee, I attended one counseling session which was another $99. The session consisted of the counselor asking me questions directly from a form on her laptop. I don’t have much experience at all with counseling but it was a very impersonal encounter. She rarely even looked at me and just flatly asked each question. Two weeks later, I called the day prior to my scheduled appointment to reschedule because there was an urgent need for me at work the next day and there was no way I could get out of it. I was charged another $99 for an appointment cancellation. Each time I tried contacting the office, I was routed to a call center and was held on hold for a long while before I could even talk to a human. There is not even a receptionist in the office. I’m very confused as to the initial fee of $99 for ‘provider access’ when you can’t even talk to a representative from the office during business hours! As a healthcare provider myself, I am also questioning the legality of charging in full for a service that was not provided. At this point, I have paid $300 and that was just for a very impersonal experience with the provider in which she just completed a form (it seems better suited as something that could have been completed online prior to the appointment?). I would not recommend Thriveworks to anybody.

Update 3/25/19 - After receiving a response from the owner, I emailed her. That was 5 days ago and no response back from her. I also checked my credit card statement and I was, in fact, charged the $99 cancellation fee. So my initial review stands as written. My daughter could not make it to her 4:00 appointment today because of an accident that had the entire road closed and was beyond her control. She has never missed an appointment before. I called at 3:15 to let someone know that she was going to do her best to get there. She called back at 4:30 to let them know that she was still sitting in traffic and was not going to make it before her time was up. When she finally got home, she called to reschedule her appointment and was told that she would have to wait two weeks until her next scheduled appointment and would be charged a $99 cancellation fee. Although I think that is way too steep, I’m more upset that she has to wait another two weeks to see Jenny. I’m beginning to think they don’t care about their patients, just the money.
