DESCRIPTION

You have the reviews of people like you who purchase the products and services of Carilion Clinic Psychiatry & Behavioral Medicine - Roanoke (Psychologist) near West Virginia.

To this day the firm gets a score of 2.4 stars over 5 and that score has been calculated on 21 reviews.

As you can read, its rating is insufficient, and it is founded on a very large number of opinions, so we can think that the score is quite faithful. If there are many people who bothered to value when they are happy, it works.

You know that we don't usually stop to set opinions when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...

Overall, everyone is always very friendly & helpful. Only issue I’ve had, a couple of my appts were cancelled for personal/emergency circumstances.....but I had already arrived for my appointment. That was a bit unfortunate for us since we live over an hour away.

Released a relative who's a danger to themself without medicine and gave him no way to get it even though they said it would be made available to him immediately. He's at extreme risk. This place demonstrates very reckless practices and does not care about the people in their care.

I come once a week. Staff is friendly. Some go above and beyond. They seem to genuinely care

Dr Hartman is the best doctor in Virginia. He actually cares about your needs as his patient. I've been a patient for almost three years and I couldn't imagine having another doctor .he and his staff are very courteous and understanding to every patient and their individual care plan. Although tough at times ,he is a very caring doctor and has made me feel more like family than a patient. I highly recommend Dr.Hartman to anyone .

Never even got in to become a new patient because they kept coming up with excuses as to why I couldn't. Either they weren't accepting new patients (online it says they were), or my insurance wasn't accept (online it said it was). I wouldn't even waste your time.

This place is sickening. The way children are treated here locked up and monitored like animals is unethical. I highly doubt treating a child like a prisoner will do anything but traumatize them. These people are untrained and unskilled to work with children with mental health and behavioral issues. The staff members laughed and mocked my child. I wouldn't recommend this facility to anyone.

The food was decent at best. Discharges are nonexistent on weekends. Doctors were nice, but could have been more involved. The nurses tried their best to get things done that you needed but you really need to figure out which ones truly are there to help you. My recommendations: *offer a full menu every day and improve food quality. *expand visiting hours *train the nurses to actually be friendlier to patients. *discharges on weekends. *more comfortable beds.

I'm only giving one star because I have to in order to write a review. I despise Carilion as a whole at this point. I have been affiliated with carilion my whole life because I had Medicaid as a child and carillion is a company who accepts this insurance as some companies don't. I've had bad experiences pretty much every facility I have been to but the psychiatry department is unacceptable. I was seeing a doctor who's name I wouldn't even begin to know how to spell over a year ago there who literally showed no interest in my medical needs. I would be explaining problems that I was having and he would act as if he would rather be anywhere else in the world than to be listening to me. He would disrupt me, cut me short and treat me as if I was less. I decided I would not be going back to him bc at the time my Medicaid was going to be getting cut off and I didn't want to pay out of pocket for a mediocre doctor. Well I called them several months as a last resort because every other psychiatry place around me is booked solid. They told me I had to get a referral bc it has been over a year since I was there. I got a referral and they called me back telling me I was I denied bc the doctor felt like I needed medical attention "sooner". I have a feeling that bc I no longer have Medicaid that would pay for my visit in full that they have. No more interest in me. None of the doctors I've met affiliated with carilion was ever nice and genuinely seemed like they care about the patients. All of them seem like they are after one thing and that's the money

You have to pull eye teeth to get an appt.. Of all specialist, Psychiatry, should be readily available. More Psychiatry patients commit suicide, than any other type of illness. If you cant get an appointment what do you do. I love Dr Kablinger, she is great. they need to change the of doing things

It was more of a babysitting club then a rehab center.

My whole experience with Carillion has been a nightmare! I took my child to have an evaluation and to get a referral from a doctor. We never saw a doctor and the connect representative forced me into consenting my child to treatment. If I did not consent, "social services would investigate, take my child and I would not have any say". When we arrived at the rehab center the first thing the doctor wanted me to do was to sign a consent for medication, and he got a smart attitude when I refused. I told him I didn't want my child there. He said I could refuse, but a representative from Blue Ridge would come then evaluate my child and they would have the right to admit my child. Then I would have to go before a judge and possibly be charged with medical negligence! This facility is a prison. My child is locked up and drugged up against my will. My family and I feel helpless, imprisoned, and that we are being taken advantage of our vulnerable situation. I am told I have parental rights, yet a Doctor, whom I don't know, has all the say in when my child can be released and what happens when I'm not there. My child is saying this place is depressing, and how much everyone hates it. The doctors and everyone at Carillon are only interested in medicated children and taking parents' money. My child has been in this facility for five days and I only heard from the doctor once, Which was to give permission for medication. I have no idea what is going on with my child, and I can't get my child out.

This is a sad excuse for a mental health facility. It preys on lower income patients and provides a service that is mediocre and negligent, at best. I have had several appointments canceled and rescheduled resulting in a almost a year without any care. Sadly, this is the only facility I (and others) can afford and their lack care for their patients and me lead to multiple expensive hospital visits. Appointments are less than 30 minutes, focusing primarily on quick prescription refills (which can result in disease, fatalities, and poor public safety). I was never seen by a doctor despite tireless requests. From someone who works in the field, I am appalled by the providers lack of involvement in patient's mental health care. Mental illness, specifically depression, is the leading cause of disability in the United States and suicide rates are rising. These health care providers need to treat every patient with respect and must understand the different manifestations in which mental illness is presented in a diverse population in order to provide personalized and effective care. This facility has failed to communicate with patients and offer adequate care, furthermore perpetuating the mental illness crisis in our country.

Very rude came here to pick up a patient she called and said they was waintin on someone to verify her pick up. So i came in then she said it be two hours and that they told me that twice already..ummm no i never talked to one nurse or physician at all during the patients stay. So my mom came up and asked they was nicer and said 30 mins. Damn lets see how long.

I was hospitalized 5 years ago here. I was 17. Ive here recently recently learned by my doctors and therapists that i was abused here. But thats not why im commenting. I had a night nurse while i was here who was so kind to me and tried her best for me and i would love to figure out who she is so i can thank her. 1 star for the rehabilitation center itself. 5 star for the night nurse.

My son's last appointment with Dr. Swanson was via Skype without our knowledge! totally disgusted that he thought this was a proper way to practice medicine. All he does for my son is sign off on my son's meds. No compassion. No consideration.

This was my first hospitalization (2013). I had just turned 13 and I was honestly terrified. I was here for 10 days. I made a lot of new friends and I still keep in touch with some of them. Most of the staff was awesome and after the first few days I was okay and comfortable. The food was amazing for hospital food. The groups were very therapeutic to me. The drum circle we did every morning was my favorite. The only reason I won't give it 5 stars was because they had me on a strong antipsychotic and it made me extremely tired to the point I couldn't sit up, which wouldn't be so bad if they gave it to me at night but they were giving it to me in the morning and after about 30 minutes I was so tired I couldn't keep my eyes open and they expected me to go to my groups while I was in that state. And there was like one social worker who I could not stand. I don't remember her name which is probably a good thing because she was my least favorite person there and she was always rude as hell to me. Overall, I've been in some really horrible hospitals but this one was definitely my favorite if I had to pick one.
