I'd really like the business if they weren't so quick to judge with a mental illness. This almost routine of mental diagnosing escalates the problems and gives all the validation to the other spouse or parent. Why? In effort to make it affordable. If someone has a mental illness and has treatment, the session can be run through insurance and cost only 25.00 rather than 150. No wonder Utah has been first in the nation for "mental illness" and double the nation as well. Over diagnosing? Honestly, 150.00 is worth saving the trouble of adding to more problems including drug side effects and saving a marriage or family well-being.
A person who has bipolar has to have gone through depression or 2 weeks of solid sadness and can be suidical. Behind my back, my spouse was told by the counselor here after our 2nd session, I was bipolar and to get all the guns out of the house and consider forcing me to hospitalization. My spouse who was already upset with me treated me like a criminal and false pity. Fortunately, I have never had depression or suicidal thoughts and it's unfortunate that nobody asked if I was. Once we put down the false idea of mental illness, we were able to get down to the real isses.
Thanks to God, our marriage survived and we returned to see a different counselor at this location with the understanding to leave mental illness out of it and had a much better experience.
(incidentally I'm logged in as my spouse)
