While I was a child my parents and I went to Dr. Levy because I was having problems at home, and I was a difficult child. Im now 23 and am a happy, healthy, and comfortable adult. While he was skilled at identifying the root causes of a child's problems, his methods of dealing with them were inappropriate to say the least. When I would act out when I was younger he instructed my parents to take me down to the floor and hold me there. As I got older(around middle school) he instructed them to lock me in a room for a minimum of 8 days. The first day I would be locked in there the whole day, the second I would get one hour out, the third I would get two hours out, and so on and so on up to 8 days. If I had any problem at all on any of those days such as talking back, getting a bad grade on a homework assignment, or any number of other things, I would go back down to day one. I spent 3 months in that room once. I was in a couple other times too and spent 1 and two months respectively. Every other therapist I had talked to in my teens had said those methods are absolutely appalling. While they may be somewhat effective, I and every therapist I've talked to about it believe they cause more harm in a child's mind than they do good. Please be aware of this before you go see him.
Edit: Regarding the review questioning my review, I began seeing him when I was very young and in elementary school in the early 2000’s. His methods may have changed since then but my experience with him remains the same.
