My 14 yr old son urologist and anesthesiologist did a great job. The nurse that watch him after surgery was nice. However we had to wait more than 2 hr. Kids are asked to fast because of the anesthesia, I could hear a baby crying. And when they finally got him in, the chief of nurses did not even give an apology. I guess it is OK for patients to wait, but not for doctors. Two days before his surgery they called and gave a total $ (after having all my Ins. information). Guess what it ended up being a lot more. Of course the day of the surgery, 15 min prior the procedure, they make you sign a statement where it says the sheet you are signing is just an estimate, and you should expect additional bills. That is how they covered their miscalculations. Billing is a nightmare. If you are planning your kids surgery, find out the medical code of the procedure and compare prices among hospitals. I don't think Cook Children's Pediatric Surgery Center is the best and affordable option. For the same price you can probably go to a larger Hospital where they offer more services.

Staff is friendly. The lobby is clean and kid friendly.

I have called three times to get results back (lymph removal) and haven’t had any luck yet. How can I pay for the service if it has not been completed yet???

Don't use this surgery center if you believe in ethics! Outrageous facility fees which are quadruple what the actual surgeon and anestheoigst bills. Billed for facility profit and not based on reality!!! You obviously pay the giant facility fee Bill so your child can have their surgery. A month later you receive another bill (still double what was paid to Dr and Anestheoigst) for a different "code" as they don't bill for materials or time. I have no problem paying the dr or anestheoigst more for their time and work, but the facility asking for MORE money just because of a "code" is just not right. It's unethical. The facility did nothing extra for this different code! Billing staff is rude when asked to explain the up charge. Will never use this facility or any other associated with it. Will never recommend it to anyone who values honesty and ethics while facing surgery for your child.

The team did an excellent job! Kids' friendly environment & efficient group of doctors. Strongly recommend this place for young patients.

Junae in billing has been absolutely ridiculous to deal with. We paid our deductible IN FULL (2k) day of surgery. Now months later she is demanding more money and lying about what my insurance is saying. She is not following proper healthcare laws and codes. She is harassing me when insurance has released payment she just doesn’t want to wait the time it takes for the check to get to this facility. In fact they owe me a refund now and yet she is still demanding more from me. I will never choose this location again as long as she is there. This is so unfortunate because the staff was nice; however, after this I refuse to be treated this way again. I have always paid my bills and have given them no reason to treat me this way.

Amazing the whole place. They kept us updated and comfortable. They treated my toddler like she was their own. Let her keep her plushie with her and let her watch Frozen (her favorite) movie to keep her relaxed before going back. Her surgery was 15 mins to have her adenoids removed. Sundip Patel was awesome and came right back the moment they were done to talk to us. I'm so so impressed with this center and if we ever need future help. This will be my first choice!! Thank tou, your whole team was just great!!

I am generously giving this facility 2 stars because the nurses are great and very attentive to patient and family needs. When first arriving to the surgery center there was no one to greet us at the front desk. After being rudely instructed to sign in from one of the billing specialists, Junae, we were told to have a seat until we were called upon. I wasn't looking for a pony show upon arrival, but a warm/cordial welcoming would have been appreciated. Once being called over for billing, the interaction didn't get any better. Junae assisted us and she was very short, rushed, and automated. We will not be back to this location if given another choice.

This is our second experience at Cook's and we were very pleased. We love my son's g.i. doctor (Dr. Whitney), as well as the anesthesiologist and all of the staff. My son is not yet 18 (he's 17), so we had to use a pediatric facility, and we had a bit of fun with the tiny juice boxes and knock knock jokes. We were made to feel very comfortable and were apprised of all procedures.

Cook Children's Pediatric Surgery Center's staff have more than technical expertise. The entire team came together in a such a reassuring way it was as if I was the only patient there. They were observant, attentive and accessible. They really listened to my concerns and guided my family through a smooth procedure from prep to recovery. Cook Children's Pediatric Surgery Center is the only choice for our family.

I can't speak for the surgical staff at this facility but I can tell you that billing and scheduling is pretty much a nightmare. If you can get beyond incompetency in that department, the absence of customer service, overcharging (in my case it was more than $1000) and the belligerent nature of the billing manager(who also possesses no conflict management skills) then you are good to go. I canceled my son's surgery after my insurance company told me that my portion of the surgery was over $1200 less than what they wanted me to pay and after they wanted to schedule my 2 year old's surgery for a late morning time slot. I would stay away from this place as there are so many good surgical facilities in DFW and most doctors operate at more than one facility. I would also highly question their ethics and business practices.

We had a great experience at this hospital. The Doctors and Nurses were great. The atmosphere was great. My son had his tonsils and adenoids removed. We would go there again.

From the second we entered the facility to the moment we left we were treated with dignity and respect. Pat immediately called me back to verify the pt information. She then told us where the restrooms were located and what to expect after the buzzer went off. Our buzzer went off and Chrissy, our pre op nurse greeted our child with a smile and warm welcome. She got his weight and temp, then allowed him to pick a movie of his choice and was very patient while he picked out his movie. We then went to a room with a door b/c our son was concerned about the child crying that had come out of the OR. Very considerate. There she explained to us all about what to expect from pre op to the recovery room. She made sure that she was in the room every time someone other than herself was in the room and always asked if we had any questions. In pre op we met with our surgeon, Dr. David Ewalt. He again explained our sons procedure to us and said that anesthesia would soon be in to go over her part in the surgery. Once Dr. Smith came in she told our son exactly what to expect. He was very calm and not worried at all. Our OR nurse came in, Becky and she introduced herself and explained her roll in the surgery. Everyone was on the same page and very comforting to us about his surgery. Our PACU nurse was Shirley, she was so sweet and still stayed with our son when he went to the step down unit with Lee. Both of these ladies were so kind. Lee made sure that his pain was under control and Shirley gave him all the popsicles and Gatorade he wanted. Lee went over our discharge orders and made sure I knew when and how to administer his pain medication so he would stay on top of his pain. Every single person that cared for our child that day genuine and had his best interest at heart. Our son has had his tonsils out and had great care. He also recently April 2017 had his appendix removed and had awesome care. But care at Cook Children's Surgery Center in Plano was OUTSTANDING. We will, if we have to have any surgery's for any of our children will use them again.

Absolute slimeballs. $5000 for just the facility costs for 30 minutes to put tubes in a kid's ears. They surprise you with the cost when you're checking in and then tell you to pay the full amount up front or not be treated.

We’ve had two great experiences here. They’re very good about explaining everything & you can really tell that everyone loves children. The anesthesiologist was so good with my son when she took him back, he loved her. Overall really good experiences.

Worst customer service I've ever experienced from a hospital. I had to call THEM and track down the pre op nurse to see what time my son's surgery is. Too bad this has all been planned for a few weeks already or I'd switch my business and money to Presby Plano. Presby Plano is top notch across the board. I guess this is what I get for trying to save a couple hundred dollars. Never again. The extra money is worth it. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS AND MONEY ELSEWHERE, LEARN FROM ME!!
