Shawna M. Gwin, Ed.S. is more than a counselor to me. For years I have struggled with self-worth, and the need to please everyone. Mrs. Gwin has helped me uncover my worth and has been able to do so with such kindness and love. I feel empowered when I leave her office. Her laugh is contagious. I always leave her office happier and with a brighter outlook. Having someone to talk to without judgment, in a safe environment is worth so much in a world that can be so cruel. If you ever find yourself needing a counselor... choose Shawna Gwin. Best decision of my life.

My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed our sessions with Dr. Nic Natale. He has not only helped us as a married couple, but he has helped us individually as well. He has been our counselor for two years. He is straight forward, honest, and to the point! He tells like it like it is. It is up to you to do the work.

PALMETTO COUNSELING ASSOCIATES INTERN REVIEW While at Palmetto Counseling Associates I have had one of the best experiences. From the very first time I met all the providers and staff, they have made me feel like one of the family. They gave me total access to the inner-workings of a private practice and they are very transparent. They invite you in to sit in business meetings, marketing meetings, case assessments, and they encourage feedback. They do not want any bystanders, but they want you to grow, flourish, and stretch yourself outside of your comfort zones. Because this is a private practice, you get out of it what you put into it, and I was given the opportunity to see how different arms of the mental health profession operate. You get a inside look at different theories that you can observe through co-led sessions with your supervisors and other providers. You also get the ability to administer as well as learn about other assessments you can utilize in practice. The supervisors, after a little time, will allow you to see a few clients on your own with their supervision. I was able to gain so much insight and perspective into the mental health community. I was also able to help the practice to develop an internship program to be able to better serve future interns coming into PCA so they can smoothly navigate the processes of gaining client contact hours as well as non-client contact hours. Interns at Palmetto Counseling Associates are a part of the practice and we try to contribute back to the practice that is trying to invest in us by giving us the needed tools to finish our educational pursuits as well as a possible home for LPC/A to continue licensure. I have seen first hand by hearing other providers stories how practicums and internships turn into a chance of being considered to be brought on as a provider. I searched all over the state to find a practicum location to call home and I am glad that I was able to find Palmetto Counseling Associates. This is because I have gained the needed insight and tools that will forever shape my psychological endeavors. I thank all of my PCA family for making my practicum a success because I couldn’t have done it without each and everyone of you! With all my heart I think you for this opportunity and I hope I have helped as much as you have helped me.
