Rude. Lost personal documents. Long process if you’re transferring from a different counselor... may as well lie and say you’re a new patient you’ll get right in there. If you’re transferring they need to review your case to see if you’re a “good fit.” Months to even get in to see someone. Late or missed appointment fee gets automatically charged to your credit card and is $175 each time.

If your trying to schedule a new appointment good luck, all you get is a constant voicemail. If you're in crisis you'll probably die before anyone responds to you.

Thank you to New Directions Counseling Services. As a long term client, my therapist took the time to understand the difficulties I was facing daily. He offered compassion and guidance through the toughest time of my life. He has been accommodating the need for therapy one, two or three days a week as necessary. My scheduled sessions are always on time and not rushed. I found it easier over time to openly discuss deeply private and confidential issues. I will forever be grateful for all of the work and effort to get me where I am today.I will continue my journey of emotional healing with my therapist. He reassures me there is no timetable for healing. Having the ability to have medication prescribed and managed at this practice is a bonus. The office staff is always courteous when making appointments or have questions about insurance billing. I have and will continue to recommend New Directions Counseling Services. I just got back from my appointment with Adam Farber for a differential diagnostic screening appointment. Basically trying to get a better handle on what my presenting problems could be indicative of. I'm mostly seeking psychiatric assistance as I have had zero luck with talk therapy in the past, and honestly don't have all that much to talk about. My issues are more in the chronic fatigue and ADD areas. However, after speaking with Adam I think I might go back for talk therapy. I don't have any pressing life concerns and I believe medication would greatly help my symptoms. But there are things I'd like to improve about the way I think and approach the world and Adam is extremely easy to talk to and seems very intelligent and qualified. Once I get my meds sorted out I can definitely see the benefit in sessions with him. If you're looking for any sort of talk therapy he should be the first person you consider. The Clinical Director of this location is also someone I can't speak highly enough about. He has definitely taken a hands on approach to helping ensure I get the best treatment possible. Not to mention the convenience of the location and parking, which has been surprisingly difficult to find in my previous attempts.

I see two different practitioners at New Directions: Dr. Monica Conn (psychiatry) & Dr. Tori Butterworth (talk therapy). I've been a patient of both for about a year and a half, and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone in need. After about a year I think I've finally gotten my meds worked out, and continue to work out things in my past and present in weekly talk therapy. I was always averse to therapy, but I realize now how incredibly helpful it can be as long as you're ready to put the work in. Even the women who work in reception are great! -- very helpful & kind.

I have known Michael Schneider, PsyD, clinical psychologist and owner of New Directions Counseling Services in Wexford, PA for over five years. I first met Michael when we were discussing ideas about marketing and growing our private practices. I've since had the opportunity to get to know him better in an online group we both participate in for the same topic. Dr. Schneider runs a private group practice offering psychotherapy and counseling, nutrition coaching, and career coaching. Many people talk about 'holistic' services, but Michael and his staff really 'walk the walk' on this by offering such a wide range of integrated services. They work with adults, children, teens, couples, and families in a wide variety of presenting problems/issues, including people who are dealing with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, recovery from trauma, stress, relationship difficulties, parenting challenges, ADHD, and other behavioral issues. I don't know any other psychological clinics that have nutritionists on staff, and at New Directions the nutritionists work with their clients on many lifestyle health issues such as diet, nutritional supplementation, weight management, eating disorders, hormonal imbalances, autoimmune disorders, strengthening immunity, food allergies, and more. Career services are also available at New Directions for guidance with finding career choices. Michael and his staff also practice state of the art techniques emphasizing rapid symptom relief in addition to traditional psychotherapy. I give a strong recommendation to anyone seeking help for these types of issues in the Sewickley PA area.

I've had a rough year and a half, and lookingcfor a psychologist is not easy. It is incredibly important to find someone who understands what your goals are with psychology and with the appointments you schedule. You also need to find someone who you like to talk to. I was drawn here after searching for months for a psychologist. Working with Dr Schneider has been a privilege. He understands my concerns and my troubles and has been actively working with me to heal. Mental health is a critical part of overall health, and I have found a path to that with New Directions. I have been a patient of Dr. Michael Schneider for a few years. I suffered a life-altering trauma many years ago and have been stuck in my own misery since the trauma occurred. Prior to coming to New Directions, I had sought therapy through the years with no effective results. I decided I would give therapy one last try because I was finally at the point where I could not stand living this way any longer. I am a very private, guarded person, and had many years to build walls around myself. I worried that a therapist would not be able to penetrate the walls I used as a self-protective mechanism. I am also quite stubborn and not very willing to let someone in. Well, I met my match in Dr. Schneider. He immediately sensed my reluctance yet worked patiently yet firmly with me and successfully created a safe, caring environment so that I felt comfortable enough with him to allow him to slowly chip away at decades old walls I had constructed. Dr. Schneider works with me to help me understand my own emotions, thoughts and feelings. He helps me deal with my PTSD, depression and anxiety. I have made great strides in understanding myself and the work necessary for me to heal. Not only am I now feeling "less stuck", I am even feeling hopeful about the future! This would not have been possible without Dr. Schneider's help. I am so thankful to him for all that he does for me. His entire practice is filled with caring, compassionate people, from therapists to psychiatrists to office personnel. I highly recommend New Directions to anyway seeking just that... a new direction!
