I don't think Terri is the typical therapist (as in what you generally think of when you hear the word therapist) and I believe that's what makes her so great. She doesn't just listen to what's going on, she helps you find actions to take to that will help improve your quality of life.
That was the first thing that really struck me about her style - she is all about taking action. I don't just go there and talk about why I'm anxious or depressed, I talk about it and then we come up with action items to improve my day. Even small things like coloring (as silly as that may sound).
She encouraged me to get an emotional support dog and that was one of the best decisions I ever made. I struggle with PTSD and driving, but now with my driving companion, Lily, my drives through my high traffic living area are a lot less stressful.
The only complaint I might have is that I sometimes have to wait over 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. I, however, think that might actually be a good thing for me because it is teaching me to relax and not be on such a rigid schedule. Perspective is a big thing in calming anxiety and she has given me techniques to put things into perspective.
Terri always has excellent resources and encourages the things I'm doing that are healthy. She discourages the things that are unhealthy in a firm, but understanding manner.
TL/DR - I have PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Terri has helped me take action instead of just listening to me talk. I sometimes have to wait a long time for my appointment, but I think it's worth it.
