PBHS has changed my life! The skills I haves learned in IOP have helped me manage the stress from my job and my anxiety. This is the first practice that has really helped me and truely care about my mental well being!

This place pressures you to take classes and courses and doesn’t understand when too much therapy is a bad thing sometimes. Beeen going here for a while but Im fed up. They’re so many local counselors in the area that people shouldn’t have to settle.

Great people, caring doctors

Amazing. Took my dad to see Dr. Mekata and he was wonderful. He spent so much time with us and cared about what happened with my dad. We both really liked him which means a lot coming from my dad! Glad i found them.

I have been a patient here for almost 2 years. I came at my lowest point while using. When I started, the person i saw (and still see) was not judgy at all. He accepted me and treated me with respect. I ended up doing the IOP there and it was the single best thing I ever did. I have been clean since my graduation. The group itself is extremely entertaining but very helpful. It wasnt just a person lecturing us. It was awesome to see people celebrate finishing the group. You really bond with the people who are in the same shoes as you. Look, I was one of the most hesitant people to try this, but once I took the time to try it, it was the best thing for me. I still see someone there but only when I need to and he still never judges me. I feel so much better about where I am in life. If you care about getting actual help this is the place for you.

Some staff are good some are bad. My exp is most are bad. I’m doing to find a new provider after less than a year.

I'm giving this place bad review before even stepping in. Here is why.... I was originally scheduled to see behavioral counselor for Saturday at 11:00. A week prior to my appointment they called me to reschedule due to my counselor not being able to make to the appointment... Not good, but since this is done a week ahead I agreed for the same day, but an hour earlier with another counselor. As I was driving to my appointment I received call from this place (30 min before my appointment) and was told that my new counselor is "out with a flu", and if I want to reschedule. No. I don't. I'm driving already (it takes me an hour to get there) and you are calling 30 min before appointment? You have no one to substitute? What kind of business model is this? Even if person is out sick they should have someone to substitute. I'm sure my counselor wasn't coming just for me. I'm very disappointed. They only reason I have them 2 stars is because I personally know one of the nurse practitioners there who happens to be a great provider. I will not be rescheduling; I will look elsewhere for help.

They are the best!!

I was running out of medication. Could not afford an appointment with my counselor. The receptionist would not even let me make an appointment with my nurse practitioner to get a refill until I made an appointment with the counselor. They don't care about your mental health - all they care about is money.

Wonderful people through and through

Mike R

Attended the dual diagnosis IOP where they are supposed to help you get sober and stay sober and teach you skills and what not but when they drug test and you fail they tell the probation officer even though you are there to get clean the person leading the group pretend to be your friend but doesn’t help you when you need it . The class is a joke and would recommend going anywhere else. I’m in AA now and feeling much better. The people at PBHS domt take it seriously and you can tell when all they do is joke. I respect the idea of this group just maybe different rules and teachings. This place does have good medication management and billy is very good.

I just completed the MBSR iop a few weeks ago and I have never felt better. Dr Grandy was wonderful to me from the moment we met. I have struggled for a long time and finally enough was enough. Joining this group was what I needed. I am still in therapy, but I come every other week now. I also see Paul for medication and I really like him. We tried some new medications when i started and they have really helped. I like the front desk staff too. They are kind and welcoming whenever i come in. Thanks Dr. Grandy and PAUL!

The people that work there are nice. However, when it came to helping me with parent alienation, it was a huge failure. No one wanted to confront the situation and actually deal with the issues at hand. Not sure if they have ever received training in this area or just don't believe in it. This is the organization that you are encouraged to go to with domestic relations court of Lake County. I repeatedly had high hopes from talking with them, but in the end no one followed through except for me. It pains me to write this negative review, but if you need help with family issues, you may want to look elsewhere. If something changes, I will update this review. I wouldn't expect it as this has been ongoing for over two years.

This goes out to Premier Behavioral Health's Corey Maddox. It's a huge thank you with sincerity and gratitude for all he has done for me. For a very long time, I was so full of sadness, anxiety, low self esteem and much more. Corey helped me with kindness and direction in all that I dished out to him. Absolutely amazing how he was able to show me what I was doing to myself for so many as over 50 years. From my teens to my senior citizen age now. Would have thought that such a young gentleman could be so wise. It is a wonderful thing to know someone truly understands and helps me through every difficult situation I tell him about. I am so lucky to have been able to sit with Corey and tel him what I always thought were my shortcomings. I thank him for being there for me in so many ways and for being the great person he is! I appreciate all he has done for me. Thank you Corey

This is an excellent Mental Health Practice! Premier Behavioral Health Services has an exceptional staff. All of my interactions there were positive from the receptionists, the billing department, and Clinicians’. I was referred for treatment after a life-changing event occurred and poor self-management of mental illness left me with an inability to cope effectively. The treatment I received at PBHS provided me essential positive steps forward in the management of my symptoms. Their Clinicians’ provided me the first step forward with a treatment plan that included skill based behavioral group therapy. This was different than my previous talk only therapy. Through the group classes, I realized I could manage my symptoms on a day-to-day basis with skills the areas of Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Relationship Effectiveness. This shifted my oulook. I found it profoundly helpful to engage in trusted talk therapy there and then have a second layer of support by other Clinicians’ during the skill training. The group classes also helped me dispel the stigma I had about my own mental health symptoms. For years, I suffered in silence with aspects of my illness and it was with great comfort when I realized I wasn’t alone. It was a third level of support and another positive step forward in the management of my symptoms. The Clinicians’ made themselves available during my entire treatment to answer any of my questions. With their support and with ability to share & review my skill utilization experiences, I built a foundation of mental health skills. My new foundation and talk therapy empowered me with the positive resources nessessary to lessened the negative impact of my Mental Illness and its symptoms. My mental/physical health, interpersonal relationships, and overall wellbeing improved! I highly recommend this practice! If you or a family member is struggling with some type mental illness Premier Behavioral Health Services is where you want to be! The support there and the skill base treatment approaches are unparalleled to any I’ve seen or heard people talk about. They offered me exceptional mental health care in a friendly environment of staff with expert supportive Clinicians’ that accurately diagnosed me then offered me the skills necessary to effectively manage my Mental Health Issues. I am truly grateful for their exceptional expert care!

Highly intelligent professionals, some with hearts of gold (seriously)!! It can be hard to manage the appointments if you work full time but it is worth it.

We are newer to this practice and I guess the whole mental health world. Our son has recently been having some major issues at school so we were recommended by our pediatrician to come here. We came and they met with us and our son. He did a couple more appointments and they brought us back to talk about the group that he needed. He was so depressed he was not going to school. It was very throughout what they went over and we met with another lady to talk about the cost. Some of the other posts on here actually really surprised me, there was never any pressure to do this, we just wanted our son back to normal and were willing to do what was needed. He started and even though he didn't want to do it, its been eye opening for him and us. He has seemed to open up a little bit more to us and in the past two weeks, hasn't missed a day of school! We have done a parent session too, which was nice because we are learning too. I have seen in short time the improvement and our son is getting back to normal. Also, Gennivere, has been wonderful and we think the medication has been helping.

Never had any issues. Very nice and professional

I love my therapist but I really love Jennievere, the nurse practitioner. Biggest complaint is the parking lot is hard to navigate

I read online reviews and was wary about coming here but this was one of the few places that accepts my insurance, so here’s why I won’t be coming back or recommending. I’ve spoke to my counselor about my concerns and he diagnosed me with a disorder that I didn’t quite understand and after talking about it still felt like I didn’t get it. He went into no further detail about it. But I was never given any psychological tests or screenings prior to this diagnosis. I got a second opinion and was treated much much better than how I was at pbhs. And told that my diagnosis was wildly incorrect. After I did not make another appointment my counselor called me and asked about it so when I told him he had suggested that I didn’t put enough effort into my (incorrect) diagnosis. So he ended up blaming me for his bad therapy. Wouldn’t recommend.

This practice requires that you see a counselor regularly in addition to psychiatric care. That means paying for sessions with both a psychiatrist and a counselor. They claim it is to save time for the psychiatrist, but that just makes me feel like the psychiatrist cares less/doesn't have time for me. Further, I feel like this is extorting money from patients who might not require counseling and need to see a doctor primarily for medicine maintenance.

Trash. If you care about your mental health or your loved ones mental health you will not send them here. They’re great options in the area literally 5 min away from here, I urge you to reconsider coming here. They just want your money. And tell you how horrible you’ve meesed up your life and that the only way to fix it is if you do IOP and she’ll out 2000 on top of other appts they make you make. My counselor told me that “he will not be able to continue to see me if i did not go to his dual diagnosis program” I felt worse every time I left there and went there for a little while

VA recommend place to get over my alcoholism and all they want is money. AA’s motto is far better and more effective but they diminish AA in the group. And not all voices are heard. Just a few.

I would like to share a detailed review for Premier Behavioral Health Services. After reading some of the reviews, I am actually shocked at some of the negative reviews. I have heard countless positive reviews from people that have been here, and I would like to share a transparent view from my experience: I attended the Dual Diagnosis IOP at Premier. Skeptical at first, but ended up finding that this place brings a high level of education along with a comforting atmosphere that makes learning and healing seem possible. Dr. Mekota and Corey Maddox created a blueprint for an IOP that goes over skills, provides evidence based research, and also adequate time to "check in" and get some personalized attention. The skills that are taught are not just healthy for people in recovery, but these skills can help anyone change their thinking and behavior. Always a skeptic, I didn't really believe this could be done. I started truly applying the skills that fit me best, and the results are life changing. I enjoy that this practice believes in evidence based therapy - that is what I needed to buy into the class. As mentioned, there is always a time to check in. I believe this gave me a strong feeling of community support. At the beginning of IOP it was encouraging to see the members at the end of their IOP stint thinking and behaving much different than where I was at in the beginning of the process. To say that it gave me hope would be an understatement! Also, this check in time gave me the opportunity to be transparent and take some suggestions. I needed a place to let down my guard and really tackle some of my issues. Anna Krivenko is also part of the IOP team. She provided a very professional and truly caring assessment prior to the start of IOP. Her knowledge and passion for her work was the first impression that I needed to give this IOP a chance. If you made it this far into the review I just want to say give it shot! I have done the gauntlet for local recovery - and this IOP has made the biggest changes in my life! Still Sober and Sane, -Joe D

This practice is wonderful! The IOPs are amazing and have helped me beyond words. I owe them my life.

A wonderful place. Stephanie has helped me through so much. The people at the front desk are always so nice to greet when I get there.

I have been struggling with my mental health a long time. I’ve been nervous to reach out for help, but I’m honestly so glad I did. Starting with my first impressions of the office, the girl that I spoke to at the front desk was able to work around my work schedule and find me a next day evening appointment. Which was amazing!! What doctors offices offer evening appointments. I was a little confused about payments because their office does collect all insurance deductible amounts for the appointment up front instead of being billed. Which is understandable as they work with you on what you can afford and how to you appointments out. And they always notify you of payments before even scheduling. They break down exactly what is being paid for a why which helped because I honestly I had no idea what I was paying for and why. I’ve been seeing the same counselor for the past 3 months on maybe I’d say a biweekly basis? at this office and I can not explain how much she has helped me. Whenever I had a crisis she was there and the whole office was always there to help and squeeze me in if need be. All as I can say, over all is this facility honestly does care. they have helped me grow closer to the ones I love and have helped me control my anxiety. This private practice you are treated as a person and not just a number. I highly recommend their services!

Premier Behavioral Health Services has improved so many aspects of my life. I started off going to individual therapy and was positively pushed to join the dual diagnosis IOP and the coordinators made it a comfortable environment to be open and honest. Throughout the program you are taught a various set of skills that apply to so many daily obstacles we have to overcome. The lead, Corey was insightful, humorous, and informative he uses a lot of good humor and personable stories to help you understand. I can confidently say that without his help and the help of the PBHS staff my life would not be as bright as it currently is.

PBHS has saved my life. I have been doing therapy for 6 months now and this is the best I have ever felt. They have evening appointments so i never have to miss work. I have even see Tony on a Saturday. Really have made strides in with my mental health. Thank you to Premier and the staff there.

So i attended the IOP group and I was so worried that I would just be paying out of pocket for something that doesn’t even work. I needed help and I wanted it anyway I could. I struggled with depression and anxiety and my sister actually attended their group as well. So I thought if my sister could do it, so could I. I didn’t want something Like having to sit infront of a tv and watch videos or sitting in a circle and tell stories of how I feel. That’s absolutely not what I wanted lol but surprisingly I learned genuine skills. A different way of thinking or seeing life. The skills that are taught are meant to be applied even after leaving the office and to my Surprise, it actually helped. Lol my relationship with my husband is better and I’ve stopped over thinking as much. Overall I’m glad the I did the IOP program. It’s helped me become a better me.
