Unlike many private mental health practices, Presby Psych accepts most insurance and offer sliding-scale fees based on income. In a community where finding help is frustrating and often fruitless, they can provide a first appointment within two weeks. It welcomes people of all ages, genders, races, ethnicities, faiths and sexual orientations. Presby Psych counsels individuals, couples and families coping with life’s traumas and transitions, including recovery from a loss, divorce and marital conflict, career crises, and more. It also is committed to helping the community in many other ways. For example, Presby Psych provides pro bono therapy and education workshops for the YWCA’s Women in Transition program and pro bono therapy to Charlotte Mecklenburg police officers and their families. It also reaches out with pro bono counseling after community crises such as the recent shooting at UNC Charlotte and sponsors events to reduce the mental illness stigma.

Extremely unprofessional experience starting with the person who greeted me all the way through to the billing department. Misquoted copay by counselor and when questioned took several days to get an unsatisfactory answer. Even the directions to the office were confusing!
