Wow! I could go on forever about how professional and also highly entertaining Carole and Shelly are. They truly have a passion for the couples who attend this workshop. Not only do you have the opportunity to learn and practice skills that have a tremendous amount of evidence, you also get to see how Carole and Shelly have applied these skills to their own relationships. One of my favorite parts of the workshop are also hearing real questions from other couples at the workshop (anonymously) and having them answered during the workshop! Highly recommend!

We attended the Art and Science of Love workshop in Asheville in July. It was well worth our time and money. We did not go into the weekend expecting a great transformation nor were we in a bad place in our relationship. The issue that we’ve been facing for the past nine years has been this: we have an argument, it ends poorly based on the way we communicate during the argument, and we end up not talking for days. It’s an extremely frustrating and exhausting feeling. Ironically we had such an occurrence the night before the workshop while having dinner in Asheville so we were really hoping that the workshop would give us the tools necessary to work through the argument. What the workshop taught us is that each person in a relationship has a perspective and there isn’t a winner or a loser when a disagreement occurs. The therapists reassured us that arguing is a normal part of any relationship, but how we process the argument/discussion makes all the difference in the world. This workshop gave us tools to help us become better communicators during an argument and in general – which lead to us feeling closer in our relationship and more confident handling similar situations in the future - a very noteworthy workshop outcome!

My wife and I attended the Couples Workshop in Asheville, NC and absolutely loved it! Of course it was my wife's idea to go - not because we're doing bad, but because we could always be doing better. The framework, tools, examples, and one-on-one time with my wife were invaluable. Carole and Shelly did a great job of making the experience fun AND enlightening. Despite being in the workshop with other couples, my wife and I had the space we needed to feel some privacy and had complete privacy during the breakout sessions to apply the tools and techniques. Taking everything from the workshop and applying them in daily practice has certainly elevated our relationship to another level. If your wife asks you to attend, I'd recommend replying with a resounding "YES!".

As a marriage counselor, I'm a regular referrer to Shelly and Carole's smart, proven-to-be-helpful marriage retreat. This couple's workshop helps couples who are hurting and improves couples who just want to feel closer.

Shelly & Carole are two of the most down to earth and sweetest ladies I've ever met! They deliver their workshop in a very comfortable, non-judgmental environment and use real life examples throughout the material. We attended the workshop in Asheville (which we love) and it was a wonderful weekend get-a-way for us. The entire weekend was centered around US, not the kids, work, or our to-do list and I feel we really had some eye opening revelations. I've been to counseling before and those sessions eventually just fizzled out, but this workshop is sort of like a relationship boot camp and really digs deep. Whether you're newly married, celebrating 40 years, have tons of problems, or no issues at all ... every couple NEEDS this workshop. It's useful in helping build, rebuild and maintain a strong foundation in your relationship. Highly recommend - don't think about it - just do it. Your relationship is worth the investment.

As a soon-to-be married couple who had received this workshop as an engagement gift, we were initially unsure of how relevant we'd find a class aimed at improving existing marriages. No more than an hour in, we couldn't have been more glad that we were there. Both counselors are caring, experienced, approachable experts, and the Gottman Institute exercises and presented research were equal parts engaging, fascinating, and deeply affirming of our friendship and our decision to marry. And as profound an experience as we had as a happily engaged couple, we also witnessed unbelievably inspiring breakthroughs for long-time marriages that began the workshop in distressingly evident turmoil. We will look back on and refer to the weekend not only as we continue to employ the relationship and communication tools honed over the two day workshop, but also as a profound reminder of the powerful results of making time to examine and strengthen even an already strong partnership. Before we had even finished the second day, we were excitedly texting our married and unmarried friends that they should immediately sign up for this workshop, and we can wholeheartedly extend that same recommendation to any couple reading this. No matter where you are in your relationship, we guarantee you will benefit immensely from the Couples Workshop.

My wife and I attended The Art and Science of Love, and it was superb. Shelly and Carole, through their relaxed, expert presentation, helped to lead my wife and I through a process of building our bond AND becoming better at handling the hard stuff. We continue to use the strategies, techniques, and positivity we gained from the workshop. Most highly recommended!

I was present at this couples workshop in Asheville North Carolina in February 2017. I observed a very well organized and time-invested program the run by Shelly and Carole. The couples seemed very comfortable and attentive and as things progress over the weekend, I had a feeling “this is going to work!”
