The whole office has a dirty feeling, and the waiting room is small and uncomfortable. My therapist, Melissa Fox, didn't even show up to my second appointment. She never called or text, not even to apologize for just blowing me off. They left me sitting in the waiting room until 30 minutes after my appointment time when I went up and asked why its taking so long and that's when they told me she wasn't even there, even though they had checked me in and taken my copay. Very unprofessional, very uncomfortable, horrible place. Find somewhere else to go!

As these kinds of places go I went there because one of my clients recommended me to try it. In needed a new doctor because my last one moved out of New Mexico. When I first got there it was very crowded in the lobby and I didn't know what to expect but when I met with my therapist she turned out to be pretty amazing. What was more amazing is that I was able to see my new doctor there in like a week! I tried to find a new doctor in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, and all of them had a waiting time of about 2 months, so I scheduled an appointment with some other doctor because when they told me I could see their doctor in less than two weeks I didn't know what to think. I didn't believe them or I thought they might not have such a good doctor, but I saw the doctor there right away and he is excellent! He is definitely a keeper. So I canceled with the other doctor I was going to see in 2 months. I thought the staff there were all very nice and it is not so crowded when I go during my appointment time in the morning (I hate crowds). I won't say who my counselor is because I want her all to myself, but she is really amazing and I recommend this place because you can tell they have their s*** together! Beats my old place by a long shot. <3

We took our son to this clinic because he was abusing pain medication. We had very good results from the program and Dr. Castro. The support we received was a very helpful to me and his father. Too many doctors prescribe pain medications without thinking of the dependency it has on some people.

The only reason I'm giving a three is because I love the medical clinic but not so much the counseling. I was seeing Dr. Ortiz which is an amazing doctor and unfortunately she left. After I had Dr. Cruz and she is wonderful too. The staff is great, the girl is a good assistant. I'm always able to call and get questions answered. On the other hand the counseling office is not so welcoming, not peaceful, it's a little loud sometimes. And the staff at that office is horrible. The girls don't pay attention (they rather be on their phone), they are so rude and lazy. It's just god-awful to deal with them there.

I have been consistently going here for almost a year after going through a post traumatic even. After making great progress I was recently called by the clinic informing me one of the therapist is no longer there and would set me up with an appointment ("this is on a week to week basis as far as availability for appointments go ")and since then I still haven't heard any word. lack of better words it is a poor administration. In the end I guess its just a business. Would honestly not recommend this place for a loved one who is seeking out help

Really good staff here. From the front desk, the group sessions and individual sessions. Great counselors. All around a great place to get some assistance. Love it!!!

Horrible counselors in general. They are not able to fill scripts which is fine, however even the MDs are terrible, they couldn’t refill my basic anxiety medicine. On top of that, one of the therapists that I was seeing actually left the clinic and moved out of state, before she even transferred me to another therapist. So for a time I was basically in limbo trying to get set up with another therapist there, which didn’t work out as I’d have to wait two-three months to be seen. Thus I do not go there anymore. So in conclusion I highly recommend that if you need therapy and/or med council, you avoid this clinic at all costs. There are much better therapy clinics out there.

I had no problem, until I lost communication with my therapist. When I wanted to come back I was unable to and the only thing I got was "Well if you could talk to me than you can find someone else to talk to". It not that easy! I opened up and it was the hardest thing I had ever done. So NO I won't talk to just anyone. Im hurt and disappointed. They just left me in the dirt. Never again!

I was at at Rio Grande Counseling about 2 years ago, and let me tell you, if you want to waist your time (they changed the therapist twice on me and you have to wait for it to be available, so basically you start over), after about a 6-8 month period I thought I was close to get a diagnosis, but no, I had to start over, go somewhere else

Called to make an appointment for first time the first lady I spoke with said they do have a psychiatrist that deals with the meds I take but I have to see a therapist first. Then tells me that she was putting me on hold while her assistant gets my medical information. She gets on the phone asks me all my personal information medical card, social security etc. then asked me what I need to see a Phsychaitrist for. I tell her the same thing I tell the lady before and puts me on hold. Only to come back saying they don’t precribe the medication. Why would the first person say yes and now they are telling me no. Get a better staff and stop wasting your customers time.

A nightmare from the get go. When I got there they stated that they could not verify my insurance so I would have to pay up front, but not to worry as they would take care of it then credit my account. After my appointment I decided to go with a provider closer to my home and asked that once my insurance paid to please refund my money instead of credit the account since I would not be back, they said they would. Well my insurance paid the claim in August of 2013, here we are in January of 2014 and after several phone calls only to get the run around they still have not refunded my money. At this point I have contacted my insurance company as this is insurance fraud....if the are going to keep my money the insurance company will take theirs back.

TLDR; they have super limited schedules and close your file after one attempt to schedule you. Full story: Providing details of my experience upon request. I called and scheduled an appointment. Due to a scheduling mishap, I had to wait at least an hour to be seen. Mistakes happen, it was an inconvenience but this was the first counseling place in years that could actually schedule me. Turned out to be an intake appointment. No one told me I wouldn’t actually be seeing a counselor until that day. I understand the reasoning behind the intake session so took it in stride. Then was told “we only do scheduling a week in advance and since it’s Friday and the only day your schedule doesn’t conflict with our hours is Friday, we’ll have to call you sometime next week”. Disheartening, especially after the scheduling mix up but fine. Get a call and they have late afternoon appointments which would normally work for me but didn’t that week. Then my plans fell through and when I called them the next day, those were no longer available. Fine, I understand, I’ll wait until next week to hear back on availability. But that call never came. I was told they would call to try and reschedule but it never happened. To my surprise, I get a letter a couple of weeks later that my file had been closed because they “tried to call me” and I never responded. They would show up as rio grande counseling on my caller id so I would have known if they called, but they never did. But oh well, there wasn’t much of a file to close so no loss.

If I could give it zero stars I would. My PCP wanted me to see a psychiatrist for medication management. After hunting around town for one who was accepting new patients and here enters Rio Grande Counseling. I have an intake session in which I'm asked what my schedule is like and in which I request evening hours because I can't afford to take time off of work right now. The intake specialist, Jean (Jeanne?) says, "We're open until 8 p.m. We should be able to accommodate you. We'll call you in a week." Week later Cindy calls and starts offering me daytime appointments. Apparently intake and front office staff don't communicate. I reiterate my need for evening appointments. Cindy says she'll put that in my file and call me back. That was January 10th. No word. I express my frustrations with my PCP in a follow up appointment today. She actually calls them and RGC tells her that they CAN'T accommodate evening appointments and furthermore, their psychiatrist isn't even accepting new patients so even if I had completed 4 counseling sessions, it didn't matter. POOR, AWFUL, SHADY, DECEIVING business practices. Shame on you. All of you.

I had an amazing experience when I went here. After 4 different counselors/therapists I connected with someone who made me feel so much better. Janice is such an amazing person and injects enthusiasm to anyone she speaks to. My sister saw Estella and she also had a great experience. I would say they front desk personal could definitely be improved and that would make this place even better.

In order to do a "preliminary" screening they force you to sign an agreement promising you'll be open and honest with a therapist. So you pour your heart out and they go, "Wow. You DEFINITELY need a therapist. Let's try to get someone who can work around your schedule." Fast forward 2.5 months and NOPE. They can't find a single therapist who can see you after 4:30pm. Not one. Single. Therapist. Never mind I poured my heart out to a stranger for an hour. Never mind they promised they'd be able to find someone after 4pm for me. Never mind that they called me incessantly to say "We can have someone see you at 2" or "We found a therapist for you at 10am". Umm, no. After 4:30pm and that's it. Don't bother wasting your time if you're employed full-time. This place is obviously for people who don't work Mon-Fri from 9-5. They also have children running around their lobby unsupervised, even though there are signs posted saying not to let children run around unsupervised.

What a cluster. Went through three psychiatrists / prescribing psychologists and almost a year before finally coming up with a solution for my medication. Turned in one psychiatrist for HIPPA violations. This practice is much more interested in keeping you coming in their doors and making money than actually helping you transistion out. The HIPPA violator prescribed a med for me that almost gave me a heart attack! People with high blood pressure are not supposed to take it. I had an episode traveling and could have died. RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS CLINIC.

The clinicians I met were nice but one of the receptionists is pretty rude.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the counselors here. The office staff are pretty much useless---but the counselors make it worth your time. They have great hours and can accomodate most schedules. I love the flexibility!

While I liked my appointment with Jeff Sailee and would have gone back, the administrative staff did such a poor job that I won't be going to Rio Grande Counseling again. They have: -Double booked at least one of the three appointments I was supposed to have. - Called the wrong phone number to reschedule and then implied it was my fault for not answering someone else's phone. ( at I think that's what happened, the receptionist wasn't able to tell me what number she had been calling) -Cancelled another appointment due to a "scheduling SNAFU" - Continually offered me appointments during work hours, which I've been adamant since the beginning I can't do. - Forgot to give me back my ID and insurance card Looking at the other reviews, this seems to be an ongoing problem. Deciding to go to therapy is hard, scheduling an appointment shouldn't be. Avoid this place if you can afford it.

I have been with my counselore Suzanne for almost 2 yrs now at Rio Grande , i graduaded the IOP about 6 months ago and am currently seeing Dr.Ann Ortiz monthly for my mental health medicatilns ans i continue to see Suzanne weekly. I have reffered several people to the IOP program and to counseling. I am happy with who i interact with regularly , but I must say, I feel very unvalued as a client from the owner. Every couple of months I get a letter in the mail asking me to change where I get my medications from. You would think after two years of business, I would be more appreciated as a whole. Overall I am very satisfied with the service I get from my counselor Suzanne, my psychiatrist Dr. Ann Ortiz, and the young lady Raquel who helps me sign in and takes my blood pressure that I will continue to stay sober and my mental health will continue to improve. Thank you, Jennifer

You get out of it what you put into it. The time the therapist takes to listen to you and help you work out solutions. I am very impressed with the Intelligence here. Melissa is an amazing therapist.

This place only cares about the money. Same thing happened to me the manager tried to force me into weekly sessions even when my psychiatrist from there disagreed. I was really uncomfortable with the therapist i had. PsychDoc explained to me that the counseling is their bread and butter. They prefer their clients be on probation so they can force you to come. I hope this place gets audited and exposed for their unethical practices.they even gave me someone elses medical records onetime

It is so helpful to have someone to turn to, and listen. My life gets so overwhelming. My therapist is beyond amazing, and so intelligent, and never lets me forget that my true happiness is my own responsibility. I am a true believer in therapy. It is one of many things that can cleanse your soul, and help clear away the dark clouds that surround us all from time to time. Thank you, Pat. You are a wonderful and beautiful healer, and my true hero.

I have been seeing ms Weber and she has been very helpful in my treatment very glad I came to Rio Grande counseling front desk staff also very helpful keep up the good work

Dr Cruz is not worth spending 2 minutes discussing mental health issues with. She has no concern regarding the heath or care of a patient. Find a much better place if you want help

Never have I been treated so poorly by a place of business. The front desk is completely rude and disrespecrful...the counselor was a nice lady and the dr as well but bc of how I was treated by the reception ist I found a new dr that day and im so much happier!

NOHWAY HOZAY

Yesterday was Thanksgiving and we were in CO and we all missed our Bro that we lost 3 years ago to a messed up overdose. I went through the program at this place about a year ago and I have been clean on my own since then and just hitting the slopes and church to get my highs and thrillz now. This place (especially Allie) has been there for me when I need it, and I am not ashamed to say that it has really helped me see what my life is all about, and when I feel like I'm losing it its there for me, and I gain strength from it. I am thankful for my brothers in arms, and to be alive, and to Allie and this place for probably saving my life too. A lot of boarderline haters on here, but just be nice, and do no harm, and it will all turn out ok. Nothing is perfect, and these people are there to help you and their human beings with feelings, and families and loved ones just like you. I will pray for you all. Peace.
