This place does not represent a "health care" clinic in how they treat patients and thier policies. If you are like me and have to drive over 5 hours to see someone dont go here, they wont work with you, disrespect you and hang up on you.

We have been going to Dr Malinas for years. He listens to you, he asks how you've been doing and if there's been any changes since your last appt. If you need to talk to him.... he ALWAYS gets back to you. Michelle... she works in the office.. is WONDERFUL!

I double dog dare you to try and get somebody on the phone at that office. And their office staff is often surly when you finally do get them on the phone. My son was prescribed off-label antipsychotic and NONE of the protocols in the physicians desk reference were followed. As a result his weight shot up 20% in a matter of weeks and it was only when I began to do research on the side effects of the drug it was prescribed that I found that it was the drug causing this massive weight increase. I also found out that there are over 2,100 lawsuits regarding side effects from this medication being prescribed off-label to children an older adults for which there is a contraindication in the physician desk reference. None of this was explained to us and we found that the drug was actually contributing to the behavior we were trying to manage. This is a well-known side effect... Hindsight being 20-20 I should have been more diligent. The PA that wrote the prescription was Googling information as we were discussing the drug. Families in crisis turn to highly paid "professionalst" for help. It's beyond disheartening to find that they only made a bad situation even worse. And at the end of the day they get paid for performing substandard work and our children suffer. I know there is a huge lack of mental health care in northern Nevada. I'm just urging anyone considering this practice to do their due diligence and check very carefully to make sure the treatment regimen they're recommending is appropriate. I know it sucks that patients have to manage their own treatment, but that's the world that we live in. Best of luck!

Dr. Malinas ignored our concerns over his prescribing narcotics to our son. This resulted in a 911 call/emergency department visit due to suicide talk that Dr. Malinas paid no attention to what so ever after three phone calls reaching out to him.

His practice to me has been the most empathetic and caring I've dealt with since being in Reno. I come from Boston and as everyone knows is the medical capital of the U.S best hospitals and med schools in the country and they seem to me to do what's needed for their patients like taking time on their days off to straighten out prescriptions etc. I highly recommend them and want to thank dr.malinas himself for taking time on a Saturday to make sure a patient got what he needs to function AND live properly. I do recommend to anyone reading this to stay clear of WALMART PHARMACY ON 2ND STREET RENO NO COMPASSION NO EMPATHY I HAVE HAD ISSUES SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY JUST DONT CARE IT WAS THE FIRST TIME IN MY 47 IVE EVER EVER ARGUED WITH A PHARMACIST AND STAFF, AGAIN 47 YEARS NOW IVI' HAD THREE IN AS MANY MONTHS WE ARE NOT PATIENTS THERE WE ARE A NUMBER THATS ALL SO AVOID WALMART BUT DEFINITELY LOOK INTO DR.MALINAS AND HIS STAFF FOR YOUR NEEDS

I’ve been struggling with a billing situation with this office for months. The office staff is completely incompetent in explained things and even just taking payment. What happened was the office pulled out of my health insurance network after I scheduled my appointment but when I came in for my appointment and gave them my insurance card, they never let me know! I went to multiple appointments and they waited 6 months before sending the first bill! Then, the office doesn’t handle billing locally and every time you call the billing office, you get a voicemail. If you’re lucky enough for them to return you call, it’s NEVER in the time frame you ask. This is more exhausting then dealing with the problems I came to the doctors with. I don’t even want to get into how terrible the appointments themselves were.

I've been with Dr. Malinas for nearly 7 years. He is kind, compationate, friendly, welcoming and warm. He is also extremely competent. The best psychiatrist I've ever worked with, and I've seen nearly a dozen over the past 20+ years.
