Have to say that this institution is interested in one solitary thing: Money. That might seem obvious, since we all do what we do to make a living. However, people that offer to help you with complex and sensitive emotional and mental issues need to be doing so for more than just a simple transfer of funds. Someone very close to me had an appointment that I drove them to myself. It was their first appointment at this place and unfortunately we had to head there in the pouring rain and this place is not the easiest to find. Luckily we did reach the office with 15 minutes to spare. We called to find out which entrance to use and how to check in. There was no one to answer the phones. We entered the facility and found it abandoned. No one in the lobby, no one in the offices(we did call out), and no sign of any type of security even. We left after calling several more times to no avail. Days later we received a call informing us that we would indeed be charged for the appointment because we had not shown up. We corrected them and said that we would not be returning to try again as this experience certainly did not instill the slightest bit of confidence. We have since received the same bill attempting to charge for the appointment and it really doesn't matter how many times we explain the actual event to however many people. Do not make our same mistake and seek counseling elsewhere.

First let me start by saying that the providers are not the issue here. The providers I dealt with were decent but I never saw an actual doctor even for my initial evaluation. If I could award them zero stars I would. The front office staff is uneducated and knowingly does not inform patients when their coverage has changed that they may be stuck paying for a visit out of pocket. Marilyn, their office manager should not be working with anyone that is suffering any sort of mental illness or distress. Her attitude towards patients is horrible and more over her lack of knowledge is scary! For someone who suffers from PTSD it’s saddens me that the office staff in not equipped to deal with anyone who is in need of psychological help. As with most businesses these days their customer service is HORRIBLE. The front office staff is more then willing to take advantage of people who are struggling and is only interested in overcharging patients. Upon my second visit I presented my insurance card and the front desk staff was aware that the insurance I had presented at that time would not cover the visit. Instead of asking weather or not I prefer to private pay they simply said nothing and three months later charged me the full amount of a visit out of pocket. Again this is a center that claims they are there to help a population that is suffering from a multitude of mental illnesses but they could care less about the cost associated with treatment. Especially when it comes to informing patients that their insurance is not accepted. Not only would I recommend that you find another office for your treatment needs but if you have loved ones that need appropriate mental health care I would recommend that if you do seek their help! I would also make sure you are well Aware of their misleading and Backwards billing practices. I received a bill three months after I presented them with an insurance card that they did not take. They knew this when they scanned my insurance card and upon my visit but failed to let me know that I would be charged the full cost of the visit. As someone who personally works in healthcare it is despicable to think that about their backwards billing practices. As someone who personally works in healthcare it is despicable to think that The psychiatry and psychology center in Northville is taking advantage of a vulnerable population who may not understand their insurance coverage falling. Rather than explaining that my insurance was not taken there they allowed me to see the PA and then bill me three months later without ever discussing any form of payment plan. I would never allow them to treat my dog after dealing with their office manger. She was rude, unhelpful and more over just plan uneducated. A vulnerable population who may not understand their insurance coverage fully and the office staff is not willing to help or explain these things until after they have captured the charges. Rather than explaining that my insurance was not taken there they allowed me to see the PA and then bill me three months later without ever discussing any form of payment plan. I would recommend never leaving your actual credit card information with them as they will charge it without your approval. I am personally contacting the Better Business Bureau as well as a local lawyer to discuss the lack of training that the staff at the front desk clearly has. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PLACE THAT CARES ABOUT THE HELTH AND WELL-BEING OF THEIR PATIENTS THIS IS NOT THE PLACE.
