I wasn't going to write this review, but I cried on the way home from my first visit, so I think it's important to say something. Keep reading if you are trying to get tested for ADD. After some serious struggles at work and home, and after lots of research, I thought it might be worth checking out to see if I have it.
Within the first few minutes I was there, Dr. Shepler quickly spouted off some disclaimers by reading straight from the paper in front of him, never lifting his head to look me in the eye. Then he proceeded to tell me I needed to double-check with my insurance about paying for the testing because it was very uncommon for my insurance to pay for my testing... Weird, why would I have to call and check? I already called and checked 3 times before going there. Then he proceeded to ask questions. My memory isn't the best so if I couldn't quite recall something right, he wouldn't give me time, finished my answer for me and proceeded on to the next question.
Truthfully, I never felt smaller walking out of that place. I came there to seek help. I wasn't expecting the warm and fuzzies by any means, but my experience was horrible. I scanned in my paperwork a couple days before my appointment so I think when I actually showed up, Dr. Shelper already made his assumptions about me. He was extremely rude, condescending and laughed at some of the responses I gave him.
After the visit with him, I decided to go ahead and make the second appointment, but when they called a couple days later to tell me it needed to be rescheduled, I took that as a sign not to proceed.
To my knowledge, Dr. Shepler is the only one who conducts this type of testing. I feel sorry for those he's treated poorly but were not strong enough to speak up about it. I have no doubt someone has left that office feeling the same way I did. His rude tendencies and mannerisms were all too comfortable. I will be going somewhere else. Be wary, folks.
