Things seemed to progress very well for a period of time until a family member reduced therapy based on the clinical judgement of one of the clinician's at this office, within three weeks of reducing therapy, at great protest from me, the family member spiraled into a suicidal crisis. The therapist at this office did not contact EMS to have the family member transported by properly trained personnel and directed this family member to be taken with an adult parent, who did infact take the family member to the hospital where they ultimately received the care needed, but what if, that family member, on impulse tried to commit suicide by jumping out of a moving vehicle at 70 mph? I think that advising someone, and securing thier safety are two sperate issues... The safety of the patient in crisis was never secured. EMS responds to these types of situations all the time, and even have a protocol in place to deal with situations like these. This place failed miserably to secure the safety of a child in a suicidal crisis and maintain the position they did nothing wrong. Well if a child's body was all mangled on interstate 94, the news crews would have been there...I wonder what position they would have held should that scenerio have played out? Plausible deniability would have gotten this facility so far if that were the case. Thank the Universe in the end that this was not the case. Choose your healthcare wisely!
