They change policies yet NEVER inform clients. As we are currently stuck with this useless company after the following recent events we are now campaigning on a national level to hold this company accountable for its unethical behavior and lack of coverage for more than 79% of its customer base.
In following their set guidelines concerning OUR health we seek like most to stay in network, however the recent events show this makes no difference.
Going to one of Kentucky's largest IN NETWORK hospitals recently revealed that just because we did the right thing certainly didn't mean Aetna would.
The physicians who treated us in the hospital are cited as OUT of network therefore Aetna and their get out of pay plan begins.
In the past 3 years, we've been denied like many others MRIs cat scans and other extremely important tests, due to Aetna sending our PRIVATE INFORMATION to third parties to decide NONE ARE MEDICALLY TRAINED btw, if we need such test. Now, here we are again with outrageous bills, due to Aetna and their multiple 3rd party affiliates.
NEW PLAN -Your not told anything about these practices until after the fact. You receive a bill and then a letter from some company you've never heard of, telling you they negotiate on your behalf.
NEGOTIATE WHAT?!?
These companies are to get $$$ adjustments for you after you find out....Oh, not in network.
The issue is they DON'T!
Enter the pathetic Aetna, calling them will accomplish as much as telling a teen don't text. They will toss you back and forth to avoid doing what WE PAY THEM FOR and all the negotiations land on US the patients.
As this problem now has reached fever pitch we are simply done with this fraudulent process.
I have reached out to friends in the legal profession and learned, most of these practices are considered unethical and likely unlawful.
IF your paying for any insurance company to cover you, this means EVERYTHING, including doing their job of providing, calling, mediating ect. The biggest catch here is that Aetna has released ALL our private information to multiple 3rd parties without our consent or knowledge leaving us all at risk in this new identity theft world we now reside in.
If your having issues like these and more, first contact them, file a complaint (YES I know, pointless) but this covers us. When they do nothing and, they won't, you can look at other measures of action.
In our case, it was after learning someone was native American and they checked that oh so important box to tell....what race/culture are you. AFTER that every test EVERY claim has either been denied, stalled or simply ignored by the 3rd party redrick.
Advice- Do NOT simply accept this behavior as like us WE ste paying to be covered.
We have had it, and once enough people say, no more....
Aetna will either change to conform to the law and expectations of its customers or they will fold like a $2 chair!
