For over4 months now, I have seen Dr. Holtzman on a weekly basis for help in dealing with my chronic pain. I was taking large doses of pain medications, but I felt there was an emotional component missing. I was somewhat skeptical at first of seeing Dr. Holtzman, since a number of other psychiatrists and psychologists I had seen offered so little.
By comparison, I found Dr. Holtzman to be a caring, thoughtful and compassionate practitioner who quickly grasped the nature of my neurological problem and how DBT/CBT could be a postive adjunct to my purely medical treatment. I have found his intervention (partnership) to be so valuable to me that that I felt compelled to write this review in case there are others who are experiencing my problem.
By working closely together, Dr. Holtzman has helped me better deal with my pain, develop a more positive attitude, and improve my relationships to the point where I have been able to reduce my pain medications and genuinely improve my overall quality of life. I have also found that as Dr. Holtzman has gotten to know me even better, we have been able to develop approaches and strategies that have further improved my treatment. While I don’t know how Dr. Hotzman treats all psychiatric conditions, I would be surprised - based on my experience and his approach - that he couldn’t be of value to almost anyone. I would highly recommend Dr. Holtzman based on my very positive experience.
