I have been so blessed to learn from the team at the STAR center! After completing the level 1 and 2 mentorships, I had so many tools to take back to my clinic. We have been able to implement their model and impact so many families' lives. Our therapists here in California have been able to go back for the mentorships as well and also learn from the SPD university on-line. I am inspired by the wonderful treatment approach, comprehensive parent training, and cutting edge research!

Told their services would be covered by our insurance company (so we elected to stay with one carrier instead of switching to a more affordable carrier) which they were not. In fact we were led to believe they has billed our carrier, when in fact they had not until we got a notice months later of the money we owed for the evaluation (we never went further than the evaluation phase, thanfully, as we were extremely disappointed with the process and their "recommendation") They finally did submit charges, only to be denied, we asked them to correct the billing as explained by our carrier, but they did not. So now we are stuck we fees we were told would be covered for services we wound to be useless.

Miracles take place at The STAR Center every day, where children who struggle with the job of just being a kid develop the skills to participate in everyday childhood experiences. When the children learn to play, climb, run, cuddle, communicate, eat, sleep and make mud pies, their families have good reason to celebrate!

We were blessed to be able to take our son to the STAR Center to receive treatment. It is, hand's down, the BEST place because they don't just focus on the child, but also on the whole family. Their parent education and involvement is life-changing. The team they have from OTs, Speech Therapists, the SOS Feeding Specialists, Pediatricians, Psychologists, etc work TOGETHER. It was amazing and transformative to experience the relationship with my son develop and deepen and to watch the life come back into his eyes!! Thank you for all that you do for our families!!

I am always energized following my time spent with faculty at the STAR Center! Even after 20 years of practice, I come away with greater depth of knowledge and appreciation for what we do as occupational therapists.

Outstanding! We began our journey when our son was four years old. After two difficult years (2-4yo), we finally gained some understanding of what our son was facing on a daily basis. Following a successful month of treatment, I can safely say that all of our lives were transformed. I feel like the Star Center (and Dr.Miller's research) gave us a way to truly connect with our son, allowed his imagination to develop and created a shared understanding for us as parents. Additionally, we credit much of our success in our marriage to Dr. Ahn and Lucy Miller for giving us a shared perspective on SPD and specifically, how to interact with our son moment to moment. This has been a journey with many ups and a few downs and, the most important part, is that the Star Center has been a constant source of personal support and guidance over the years. My son does not need additional OT support during the school year because he participates in a year round swimming program which helps with regulation. Our only OT work is either a week visit (or two separate weeks) to the Star Center annually. We are planning another booster week in March and it is one of the most anticipated weeks of the year. An amazing center with an incredible staff.

I don’t leave reviews not even bad ones as a rule. However when it comes to the well being of children and parents I feel inclined to do so. My son does not have a diagnosis of SPD or ASD but his school had them come out and evaluate all kiddos anyway (which is a separate issue). I work in child development as a RN. I know when my children need resources & will accept them readily. Early intervention is the best intervention. However this FOR Profit! Company did a quick assessment on my son at his school which couldn’t have been very long since they were there seeing children all day. He didn’t want to perform for them so instead of rescheduling the assessment for a better time/place they based the evaluation on his lack of cooperation that day. I evaluate kids and I know you have to take the context into consideration! The evaluation was way off base from what I know about my child and child development as well as feedback from his teachers that spend every day with him. They are also making judgements on behavioral/social emotional issues based on a quick assessment and I feel that is better left to early childhood mental health specialists and sure as heck shouldn’t be based on a few minutes of interacting with a child at a time he is being silly. This company wants your money. Do yourself a favor and use a free resource such as Child Find in your county to have more professional and affordable sources delivered.

Our experience at STAR Center was exceptional. The insights of the team members were amazing--they were able to provide us with the answers that we had been looking for. The STAR Center staff provided us with recommendations tailored to OUR child. Their approach is different than any I have experienced or read about. We are learning to rethink our parenting strategies and are continually motivated to do so because of the results we have already seen. We have gone from feeling frustrated and essentially hopeless to having a new sense of empowerment when it comes to raising our "sensational child". At first glance, a trip from Arkansas to Denver together with the cost of evaluation and treatment seemed expensive. However, I can say now that it was some of the best money we have ever spent. Worth every penny!
