The website says you'll never get an answering machine. I always get an answering machine on the weekends. Email says they'll respond in a couple of hours. Not on a weekend. You won't hear from them. I really believe the counselors are very good. So if you can get past the organization mishaps , you'll find a really great group of therapists there. Once you get your therapist, they will make themselves available to you. But the scheduling department is not living up to its website claims at this moment.

I was meeting with Bonnie Curran before she joined the Thriveworks team, so my experience with Thriveworks was because of Bonnie (I was one of those clients that followed her as she transitioned from one employer to another :) ). Bonnie is an excellent counselor that truly cares well for her clients and strives to enable them to attain confidence in independence as they navigate the peaks and valleys of life. So five stars for Bonnie! Five stars also for Thriveworks for providing a welcoming atmosphere, kind and helpful employees, and delicious beverage options ;) One detail that I appreciate about Thriveworks is that you schedule your appointments with your counselor and there isn't a receptionist that is seeing all of the clients walk in and out each time. The atmosphere is pretty private, you walk in and typically the only person you will see and interact with is your counselor. My experience with Thriveworks and with Bonnie has been excellent, this will definitely be my choice practice should I return to counseling.

I had a 30-minute phone consultation with Dr. Centore to discuss the business of being a therapist. It's a crime that graduate schools don't offer courses in how to run a therapy business, specifically what to charge by the hour as well as for intake sessions, when to raise rates, and creative ways to package therapy rates. Dr. Centore addressed all of these subjects--and more--with me in an open and lively discussion. He wasn't afraid of the topic and that gave me courage to ask though questions.
