I called Monday morning (5/6/2019) at 8:20 am to get a refill called in for my mom, who at that time, was a patient of Dr. Alderfer. I got their answering machine, left a message that she needed a refill. I called 3 more times that day to discuss switching her pharmacy choice, always got their machine. I finally get a call back, which I wasn't expecting, since it was 1 hour past their closing time. I didn't get to the phone in time, tried calling back and got the machine.
I called again 2 times on Wednesday, always getting their answering machine instead of someone answering the phone.
I allowed 48 hrs for a refill, as their message claims it takes, and it was never called in to the pharmacy. I called the pharmacy and as of 9 pm Wed. evening, it still hadn't been called in. The pharmacy gave me 2 doses to hold mom over until the prescription was called in.
I call again on Thursday at 8:01 am, hoping to reach a live person, once again getting nothing but the machine. Needless to say, I was tired of playing phone tag, and left another message about getting a refill, and asked was it policy to never answer their phone.
I then get a call from Dr. Alderfer at around 10:30 am, couldn't get to it in time because I was working. He called again at 5 pm, asked what I needed... like he never knew about my previous messages needing a refill for my mom! He then tries to berate me for leaving a message like I did, and speaking to his office staff like that... Uhm hello, I never actually got to speak to anyone in his office, only the machine. I said, well have your staff answer the phone then, because every time I call, I get the machine! He then informs me that treating his staff that way can get my mom discharged from his care. I said that's fine, you're not the only Psychiatrist in town.
Be careful what you say on their machine, apparently his staff is very fragile and can't handle someone being upset at playing phone tag, trying to get meds for his mom. She is no longer a patient now.
