I started seeing Dr. Quigley when I was 21 at student health. I was very hesitant on starting any medication for anxiety/depression due to past experience in highschool. He understood that and never pushed anything on me, even tried natural options first. I truly like him as a doctor, finding a psychiatrist and/or psychologist is very much like finding a best friend or soulmate, it is a lot of work and getting to know each other and building trust.
I love that he explains the physiological effects of the medication and maybe that is because I have a background in physiology and like to know how my body will react on a deeper level than dry mouth and nausea, some people may want the info in more Layman's terms.
If you are looking to go in and be handed xanax or Aderall, it isn't going to happen.
He was so patient with me in trying different combinations of medications that worked for me. Even when certain ones stopped working. I also had to be patient, it is one hell of a process and very easy to want to give up when medications are making you feel strange. Mental health is not clear cut like removing a gallbladder, we are all very different and unfortunately medications come in specific dosages so it is difficult to get a perfect or almost perfect combination. I will always recommend Dr. Quigley and am so thankful for his help over the years because I have no idea where I would be without him and my awesome psychologist Dr. Cathy Yura.
