Outstanding Psychiatrist. Incorporates mediation techniques, therapy, and utilizes state of the art testing to properly treat your diagnosis. He genuinely understands, and speaks at your level. Not just for the money kind of psychiatrist. He specializes in ADHD, but I definitely recommend this gentleman for anyone who needs a real deal doctor. He's booked pretty heavy though, but his sessions is worth the wait. Nice guy.

First sign of hope, since...I could ever remember. Dr. McClelland is very intelligent! He took me on and taught me so much about myself in just the first visit, then the second was even more and here I am now with the third and I believe this man has likely saved my life. And it’s likely he’s just begun. He’s managing my medications and doing a better job than any physician ever has...which is supposed to work that way I believe ;)

Been going here for several months now. As someone else said, as cliche as it is to say, this place has changed my life. I was at a low point after a break up, wondering what all my failures had in common. That's when I stumbled across a signs of ADHD video and realized that was me. I looked around for months for someone that would diagnose an adult with ADHD. A lot of places wanted to do extensive testing that would cost one or two thousand. Thankfully, I found this place and their process is far more streamlined, as it should be. ADHD is one of the most researched conditions, it doesn't take hours to decide if someone has it (if you know what ADHD is). First appointment is with Dr. McClelland who is very likable and will understand you like no one ever has, and it was one of the greatest reliefs I've felt. The whole process was fantastical. All of the front desk people are very nice, and if you go one the same days you'll get to know them. We went through treatments systematically and scientifically, I kept track of how each effected me and what any unwanted side effects, until we found the perfect fit for me. That alone helped me tremendously, then they recommended an in-house counselor. So I said sure, why not, lets try it see if it helps further. Which it does! So with that combination of medication and routine counseling, I'm doing better in life than I ever have. Know thyself. If you have ADHD, you'll learn where you tend to get stuck and learn specific techniques and strategies to get back on track. And everyone there understands ADHD very well, so there's never any judgement. Always very accommodating. If you're looking for a place, this is it if you can get to Seattle. Call them, see if they take your insurance. I'm so glad I found this place. I feel like I'm being paid to write this, but I'm just very grateful towards this place and everyone EVERYONE that works there because it really has changed my life for the better and I'm now on a steady graph upwards in regards to overall life satisfaction.

I have no doubt Dr. McClelland is a good psychiatrist for people who are seeking someone with ADHD expertise, but if you are seeking treatment for another illness, I do not recommend him. I came in wanting to talk about depression/anxiety and TMS, and was essentially was lectured to the entire time about how I had ADHD and that that was the only root cause of all of my issues. In fact, when I asked if he thought depression had genetic basis, he said that he believed that there are precursors for depression like there are "precursors for suicide" i.e., there are statistical/circumstantial precursors for suicide such as "being male and having guns in the house" that increase risk. This is essentially a very roundabout way of saying that depression is only circumstantial, doubting the existence of depression as a real biological illness. Ironically, he had absolutely no trouble pushing ADHD as a genetically evolved 'real' illness. As someone who has always suffered from depression and whose entire family suffers from it, I found this pretty uncool, to say the least). Literally every time I tried to speak I was interrupted, talked over, or told that "my past experiences would only be taken with a grain of salt." When I tried to challenge his thinking, he said I seemed "in denial about having ADHD." I got the feeling that he was more upset that I was seemingly 'dissing' his illness (that he specializes in and also suffers from) than actually behaving with the objectivity of a doctor who doles out serious diagnoses, medications: these are life changing things. I'm not sure if he's having an 'off' month or something, as his behavior seemed surprisingly aggressive considering the number of positive reviews on here (although, funnily enough, looking now, almost all of them are from people with ADHD). That being said, I left the office choking back tears, and will not be going back. Be warned.

My life has been reinvented since meeting Dr. McClelland and I am forever grateful! I was able to speak candidly and finally receive real answers to a condition that has plagued me since I was diagnosed as a teenager. The only regret I have is having not advocated for myself by finding a real doctor earlier. Only now can I recognize the missed opportunities I have had over years as It wasn't until after being treated and educated by Dr. McClelland that I had any idea how much my life was truly disabled by my condition.

Told me I was ADD and spent 45 minutes spouting nonsense about how everyone I know is ADD while ignoring my raised concerns over other areas of my mental health. This guy has no idea how to treat anything other than ADD and even then he likely over diagnoses the disorder in the first place. Go with someone else.

I know it sounds a little cliché, but coming to Psychiatry Northwest has changed my life and how I am able to ACTUALLY adult. Hearing a professional put into words your life and how your brain has worked when you have spent the better half of your adult life trying to explain it to others gives hope and a new charge to taking the lead on your own destiny. I am so thankful for Dr. McClelland and his team. 3 months later, over a year at Psychiatry Northwest and STILL a fantastic physician.

Dr. McClelland is amazing. He listens. He understands ADHD in a way that I have not seen with other psychiatrists. When I go in for my appointment, I feel like I am going over to see an old friend. No stress. He also has an actual test for ADHD, so you can be assured that your diagnosis is legitimate.

These people are in business to MAKE MONEY and MAKE MONEY and maybe do some health care and patient care on the side. So far, although rushed, the patient care component of this business is OK, primarily because for my issue, ADD, there are very well defined objective criteria developed so that minimal attention and thought is required of the provider. I would not use them for anything that actually required sustained personal attention to a patient, such as therapy. In any case, whatever the health issue of a patient, they WILL MAKE MONEY NO MATTER WHAT !!

I have had an overall positive experience with Dr. M since I started going to PNW in early December 2017. He is understanding, compassionate in his bedside manner, and quite willing to explain the science behind his diagnosis. He is genuinely invested in seeing his patients succeed in life and within their own belief in themselves. I have no reservations in recommending him to patients. That being said, I'm continuously surprised at how lagging the office staff can be when coordinating patient care. I have had multiple appointments forgotten (I called to cancel 4 days before an appointment, but still got a call the day of saying I was in trouble for missing my appointment), bills misplaced, multiple bills sent to me (that I had already paid), receptionists calling me telling me they didn't have an updated address when I had already given one during an appointment. Once I was on the phone asking why they were trying to send another bill to me if they could see my balance was zero. I got assured that I had paid my bill already, then got another bill in the mail. It's frustrating certainly, so you need to work on being an advocate with his staff. That all being said, you won't find the same treatment at big name hospitals in psych care and therapy. The trade off has been thus far worth it.

The first appointment lasted 2 hours because they overbooked. Charged for a cancellation during a family emergency, in the middle of a nasty divorce and given 24 hours to move. As a single mother with absolutely no help from my ex you would think a professional psychiatry business would adhere to their clients emergencies. This place will only bring you more grief, do yourself a favor and and go somewhere else! Find someone who really actually cares about the situations you are going through and will help you attain the mental health goals you are striving to achieve.

I was diagnosed at 35 years old with ADD. I was very uninformed about the whole thing and with so many doctors out there prescribing these pills with little care of right meds or dosage, that made me nervous. Jesse is an incredible, intuitive doctor who handles his patients in a way that is not done by many nowadays. My quality of life since I started seeing him has gone up exponentially. I highly recommend him to friends, family and coworkers.

Dr McClellan is a great guy to work with! Easy going, engaging and just plain fun. I feel very comfortable with him. Another amazing person at Psychiatry Northwest is Kyle Sharpe patient relations coordinator. This guy has a great personality and has helped me navigate and facilitate medical appointments outside the clinic as well. He even managed to point out and fix mistakes at other clinics. This guy has talent. Thank you very much to everyone at Psychiatry Northwest, Toby
