It wasn't without it's frustrations but overall I felt like Dr. Avery was the most helpful doctor I've had for my problems. 2 out of 15+ appointments I was unhappy early on, but the rest were very helpful. He does have a lot of expertise and he was trying to help at every step. I had to pay out of pocket, and the non medicine stuff was frustrating because it didn't make any noticeable difference, I had to buy a sun lamp, blue blocker glasses, melatonin, exercise, get sun, quit pot, etc. for a while before he'd accept that it wasn't enough, meanwhile you're spending money, losing income from missing work, and a total anxious, agitated, mess spiraling out of control. But he did get things under control and bring me back to normal and help me maintain after things were working correctly. I really appreciate that he understood long term severe sleep deprevation was causing a cascade of other problems, rather than getting distracted by them he fixed the sleep and the other problems went away. It was complicated, but he knew what to do and I really appreciate his help.

If I could rate this place 0 stars I would. After two appointments, both of which had to be paid out of pocket in advance of receiving any kind of care because they accept very few insurance plans, I received no help other than a recommendation to go to an outpatient service. Adding insult to injury, an additional $175 fee was billed to me after my second appointment, which I had already been required to pay $230 for in advance (as noted above). Absolutely unacceptable. Dr. Ashley Bouzis did not alert me at any point during that second visit that such an action would be taken, and when contacted, said that she decided that it was warranted because she felt my case was “more complex” than she “first anticipated.” Funnily enough, I am currently seeing a different therapist at another clinic who knows of Dr. Bouzis because they have patients who left PMA because of the insufficient or bad care they received from her. If you are going to receive therapy at this clinic, be sure to review the doctors available and choose wisely.

I have been a patient of Dr. Vaths for many years. Through the right medication and intense counseling, he has literally saved my life. I am the wife, mom and woman today because of the highly trained doctors at Psychiatric Medicine Associations.

First, let me express that this review reflects my experience with the suppprt staff, NOT my doctor. The woman currently in charge of billing is perhaps one of the rudest individuals I have ever encountered at a health care providers office. Her hostility is especially surprising given the nature of the practice (mental health). There was an issue with billing due to an insurance snafu resulting from a recent move. The way she treated me during our interaction to sort it out, one would think I caused her some sort of personal harm. I truly hope the doctors at the practice consider offering her some of their services or time off since clearly she can’t keep whatever is going on in her own life from affecting her ability to do her job with a modicum of civility.

This rating is based on my experience with Dr. David Avery. He lectured me during various visits about my birth control method then asked me how I felt about abortions, then asked me if I would get one. I have no plans to get pregnant at the moment. He seems to have been bringing his personal problems into our appointments -- maybe his girlfriend got knocked up once? But that doesn't have to do with me and it was disrespectful. It was VERY uncomfortable meeting with him each month.

The amount of time and attention given to my health has been well above what I was told to expect from associates who visited other locations. I was seen quickly after being put on the wait/cancellation list. I have recommended to several people.
