Dr.parker prescribed addictive adhd medications for my child that exhibits absolutely no signs what so ever of thuse diagnosis. I truly feel Dr. Parker is incompetent and does not evaluate the symptoms nor listen to client feedback. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone.

PSA is OUTSTANDING. Everyone is very attentive and focused on helping you with whatever you need. They have an exceptional staff and their care is beyond the stars!

Professional & Courteous. I just called to make an appointment and the front desk staff was informative and kind. We went over details and was able to make an appointment within a week.

While I'll reserve my opinions for the office staff, as I've had a few infuriating issues with them, I call bull$h1t on every single negative review I've read here regarding Dr. Parker. I have been to a number of psychiatrists in as many years, and Dr. Parker is the first (and only) one I felt completely understood me and gave a plugged nickle for my care. I've moved to PA, but I still refuse to switch physicians because I cannot risk another 'doc-in-a-box' type experience from so many in the field. My sister, who is a highly respected clinical pharmacist (oncology specialist), has met with Dr. Parker in reference to other patients, and was the one who directed me to see him. She couldn't praise his professionalism, passion, and knowledge enough, and he is the only physician she personally recommended to handle my care, ever. To me, he needed no further references. Again, I wouldn't hesitate to refer someone to him. Office staff can be tolerated, but a bad doctor cannot. I would continue under his care even if I had to deal with worse office issues than I have already. It is worth the headaches to have a doctor who truly cares and is passionate about his patient's wellness.

My wife and I are both former patients of this practice. We attended separately and we loved the counselors. Dr. Parker placed both of us on a similar medication regimen, albeit different dosages. My wife was placed on extremely high doses of both. Neither of us were warned of possible medical side effects of either or the combination of the two drugs. One day my wife went to her physician for a routine checkup and was sent to the ER because she was in hypertensive crisis. Both of the medications she was on increase blood pressure and, again, she was on almost the maximum dose of both . She knew she had a family history of high blood pressure and put that in her chart. She was prescribed these medications without any warning on how that may impact her. They require appointments every 3 months to "check on you" before giving another refill. They never asked my wife about her blood pressure on any of these. When confronted they said that it is her responsibility to get medical checkups but I would argue it is their responsibility to prescribe with regard to medical history and advise/inquire accordingly. My wife was on the verge of having a stroke and didn't even know there was a risk. Lastly, they prescribe medications and require you to pick up written prescriptions from the office monthly. They also require appointments every 3 months to renew them, at which point they provide a written prescription stating they can't call it in for you. My wife now gets significantly lower doses from her physician, who doesn't require these appointments and electronically sends them to our pharmacy. I don't know why one doctor can refill directly without an appointment and the other can't. The only reason can surmise for this office's practice of scheduling these inconvenient appointments every three months was to get a payment. It damn sure wasn't to check on our well being.

I honestly can not understand the negative reviews here. This practice is hands down the best place I have ever been to. Dr. Parker is incredibly intelligent and compassionate. I love the fact that he doesn't just throw medication at you without extensive testing first. He was the first to diagnose me with an autoimmune disorder that other doctors has previously missed. Because of my compromised gut, I could not properly absorb any medications. He reviewed my blood work and put me on a new diet (without trying to sell me supplements) and I saw an immediate improvement in my body's ability to digest my meds. Their nurses are amazing and I appreciate that at the med checks they REALLY want to know how you are doing. They review your goals. Dr. Parker worked very hard to find the right dosage and combination of medications that worked for me, constantly starting at square one if I wasn't happy. I can't say that for most psychiatrists.

I've been seeing Dr Parker since 2009 and I will not return. His office staff is horrible, rude and dishonest. I was just there for my 3 month appt and they wait until I call for a refill on my medication to tell me that I have to drop everything and come right into the office for a test. I just started a brand new job I'm in my 3 Month probationary period and can't just drop everything to come into the office while I'm in my training. I asked if this test could be done when I came back for my 3 Month appointment and of course it can't. They don't offer extended hours and so I'm forced to not have any medication because of this ridiculous practice. Do yourself a favor and find a doctor that has a caring and understanding staff. You'll save yourself a lot of time and frustration.

I have had nothing but a positive experience with Dr. Parker and the PA. I highly recommend.

I have positive experiences with Dr. Schlichter and Dr. Parker. My only complaint is whenever I call, the receptionist quickly says "Parker, Schlichter, & Associates, please hold," and places me on hold before I can even answer. Just about every single time.

Dr. Parker is leaving a legacy in psychiatry, undoubtedly transforming the lives of many, many people - I am one of those lives. I've found - after numerous years of searching - that the details of treatment often make a world of difference. Like a support team that responds promptly and compassionately to your questions. Like a Dr. who offers treatment plans that are well thought-out. And, like a psychiatry practice that equips patients to not just achieve mental health but to maintain it. Those details matter to Dr. Parker, and those details have made the world of difference in my treatment success.

They have always gone above and beyond. I have referred 8 people within my circle and they all are also extremely happy with the services. Look no further if you're in the hunt for a comfortable and respectable place.

My daughter really enjoyed talking with Eleanor. HOWEVER Ive had SEVERAL issues with canceling appointments. My daughter’s original appoints were scheduled for Tuesdays, after running into a conflict, I called the office to have her scheduled for Thursdays, and to cancel all Tuesday appointments. The following week, I received an automated call for a Tuesday appt. I called left a msg on their machine to address the issue, called again the next day, and it still wasnt fixed. So, I inquired about the situation with the understanding that the issue was taking care of. The woman that answered the phone never addressed my concern, but proceeded to cancel the appointments. I should have taken heed at that moment, but everyone deserves a second chance (is what I believe). Well, here it is again, I was charged for a $75 for a missed appoint that I canceled. I never received any notification of it, found out at my daughter’s next scheduled (and last appointment). I addressed it with Eleanor and with a snoody attitude, she responded, “There was no msg”. So I left, thought about the suituation, went back in, and behold, Eleanor and the receptionist were having a discussion about me. Never mind their history of a lack of record keeping, I cancelled all of her appointments at that moment. They can have the $75, but what they will not get is my business, and a positive review. Believe the other post when they talk about they way this business treats people. Ive never experienced anything like this before. I almost think it’s hilarious that she preferred $75 (that was not justified) over a repeat client. If indeed, I did not cancel the appointment, and failed to do my part, I would have proudly given them the money without hesitation. In the end, it’s clearly just about the business for her, not about the client.

Review number 2. 4-2-2019..... I had an appointment scheduled for 130 at the time of me making this post it is 154 and I am still sitting in the waiting room waiting to be seen. I only get an hour lunch at work and this place is only 10 mins away from my work. I got here at 115. I have no idea why I have to schedual an appointment if I'm going to be sitting waiting for half an hour to be seen for an appointment that literally only takes about 10 mins......

Charles Parker is a drug pusher who doesn't actually want to help his "patients" get better. You come in once every three months and they give you pills, but they don't actually talk to you or help you. Nobody has helped me find CBT to improve my coping skills. They provide no actual psychiatric help other than a prescription for controlled substances. Even with the one thing they actually do, write prescriptions, they are laughably bad at it. There is no organization in this office and your appointment can be dropped when you show up for it. Their phones are always down. The people who deal with insurance are incompetent, and the staff at the front desk are lazy and unhelpful. Don't expect anything good out of these people. Charles Parker will try to sell these prescriptions to you like a used car salesman to make a quick buck at your expense.

Based off my experience these people do not know what they are doing. When I first came to this place I originally saw Dr. Charles Parker and he told me aside from my mental illness that my "race" was a "crutch". Race is not of any meaning. The only reason why is it even meaningful in this baseless society is because people are fine with constructed separations. They have lied to themselves for generations and believe they are greater or less than one another based on obvious weaknesses. Even after this clear observation of the mentally ill treating the mentally ill I still continued to go to this place. After what transpired this last week I will no longer be going to this place. As it is obvious that there are a tremendous amount of disparities. What put the cherry on top was the fact that they did not know what they were doing or how they could be better medical professionals. The last nurse practitioner I saw asked me how could they help me better?. Considering that I have been dealing with certain conditions since my adolescents this is by far the worse place I have ever been too. I will not be going back. Everyone's experience is different and that is due to disparities. Nevertheless please be mindful when seeking treatment here.

I called and asked them there optima rate which they told me $87, but it is actually $120. There self pay is $90. I would have been better off telling them I had no insurance. I like Dr Parker, but I don't care for his PA Latoya. She seemed to rush me out. For $120 I should be given every minute I paid for which was supposed to be a 30 minutes. I am only willing to spend $120 on doctor parker he is worth it though I recommend you tell them you don't have insurance if you have optima health with a deductible like me.

I waited weeks for a new patient appointment that I was supposed to have today. Two days prior to my appointment I had a missed call and NO voicemail, so I returned the call the same day to inquire on the reason for the call. The associate who answered my call said it must have been an appointment reminder. Made sense to me, but thinking I had misunderstood the day and time of my appointment, I called back AGAIN to ensure I had the correct day and time. NO ONE mentioned that the billing department was trying to reach me because I don't have mental health coverage through my insurance and that it would cost me $100 without coverage to go to my appointment today. So, I showed up as I am supposed to do and that is when I am informed by the front desk of the insurance issue. It wasn't that I had an insurance issue, they just don't accept the program I am using. I am upset that this business showed up as an in-network provider only to be turned away because I wasn't made aware of the issue prior to my arrival. Therefore, a 1 star review for wasting my time waiting weeks for this appointment.

Dr. Parker changed my life for the better, I’m so sad he is retiring and it’s going to suck to have to start over finding someone as knowledgeable as him. Spent so many years being misdiagnosed and Dr. Parker was the first one to ask the right questions and get it. The Hampton roads mental health community is losing a genius.

CROOKS, I have ADD and medicati help somewhat but too difficult to get persciption without having to see them every single time. Luckily I have a large list of their clients and Ive convinced a lot of them to seek help elsewhere and I suggest everyone else do the same

I visited this practice with my daughter and forgot to get a doctor's note I called the next day to discover they were moving their office in the middle of the week no one was available to speak with nor was the move explained to their patients for convenience. I spoke with maybe 5 or 6 call center representatives and not one of them could provide me a simple note, they told me that Dr. Parker told them do not contact him or any doctors from the practice until the office reopens 5 days from now/ I find this very disturbing due to the type of doctors office this is? There was no care or concern demonstrated when it came down to my daughter and her needs. This was our first visit and it will certainly be the last I do not recommend this practice to anyone, not even your pet. I hope this review save someone money and time because whether your paying out of pocket or insurance is footing the bill do not allow this practice to rob you because it is not worth it!! Dr. Parker if you or your team reads this I hope you all consider hiring some new call center reps they were rude and they were the people who told me you said not to contact you they were not friendly nor professional I am beyond livid and disappointed with my first visit.

I have been with this practice for years and I honestly and disgusted with how the new staff treats me. It has changed so much. The receptionist are so unprofessional and often hang up on you. The answer the phone and put you on hold IMMEDIATELY EVERY TIME. Even when I am in the waiting room I wave witnessed this and have seen them doing nothing but chatting and filing! Patients are supposed to come first as I know this from my training! I have made several complaints and nothing has been done. This practice you are not not even a patient you are just a a person through a phone to them! Even when it’s urgent!

My experience with this office started out to what I perceived to be a good one, but has devolved into utter hell. I truly believe the people who work here are sadistic and enjoy ruining people's lives and making things incredibly difficult for you every step of the way. While it is a good price, and I think they care DEEP DEEP down in the recesses of their hearts, I have felt nothing but angst every time I interact with anyone here. All they care about is watching their backs to the point that you feel like you're a prisoner dealing with a bunch of irate wards who see you as just a number. Dr. Parker has actually caused me a lot of harm because he incorrectly stated in my records that I had "passive thoughts of suicide" when that was not the case, which then affected my work, insurance and personal life because of the former repercussions. I am now in a different state and need my non scheduled prescription and they won't help me with that either, even though they know fully well that without Wellbutrin I will literally become sick. I needed them to send a letter and went in there office IN PERSON to sign a release, but because it didn't go through, they won't send it again. EVERY SINGLE THING YOU ASK OF THEM IS AN ISSUE. EVERY THING. YOU GO IN , TALK TO A DOCTOR WHO SEEMS VERY DEFENSIVE and sure HIS diagnosis trumps YOUR feelings, and then blame, you 're in the hook. I highly highly recommend going to someone who has a more holistic approach, and who sees you as a real person and not just a diagnosis .
