"Doctor" Lomax is the epitome of a crappy doctor. I saw her numerous times (for lack of better options). I hope the Virginia Board of Medicine looks into her practice (if they haven't already).
Firstly, she seems unable to keep track of anything. She never had any idea what medications I was on, or what doses I taking. Or what my symptoms were. The file she kept on me was a collection of unorganized loose leaf papers, kept in a vanilla envelope, which she would rummage through in order to look at my past appointments. I.e., what an academically underachieving 6th grader would do.
Secondly, she has no ability to listen. Whenever I would ask for a medication to be changed or a new medication to be tried, the idea would be shot down with a poor explanation (i.e., "if we do that, XYZ will happen... mmmkay?"). Yes... but the side effects are unbearable... (my new psychiatrist has had no problems making the changes I requested, so I was not asking for anything ridiculous).
Thirdly, it is obvious she is practicing with a goal of limiting her legal liability, not in providing any sort of care. For example, she would recommend various changes to my dosages to conform to recommended standards, despite me telling her this would cause me problems. Great. I'm now only taking the maximum suggested dose, but have suicidal thoughts every other day! She also kept recommending I look into various health issues, which my primary care physician would quickly dismiss as not being issues at all...
Fourthly, she shamelessly goes after your cash. After I began seeing another psychiatrist, I started receiving bills for "prescription refills" at $25 a pop. Mostly on prescriptions which only needed to be refilled because she called in the wrong dosages to start with. Sorry, informing the pharmacist that you called in the wrong dosage comes out of your pocket.
Please retire.
