Fabulous practice!!! Our son was originally misdiagnosed by doctors we thought were good and with expensive tests and a report that turned out to be completely useless and wrong! We then wasted money and time there doing tons of counseling for a condition he didn't have!!! I won't name that practice out of decency. We had him retested at APS and they got it right. Our pediatrician agrees with the diagnosis of autism 100 percent and so do we. We stayed for therapy and medications here and we compliment that with services from the county. Can't say enough about the high standard of professional care here. There doctors get it right a d they go the distance for you to work with the school, the pediatrician and the Loudoun County. Our 16 year old son has been going to Ashburn Psychological and Psychiatric Services for over 9 months. What a wonderful difference it has made not only in his life, but in our lives as well. Dr. Oberschneider has been counseling our son on the aspects of life that we often take for granted. Our son has been diagnosed with ASD (Asperger's Disorder). Dr. Oberschneider has helped him work on his social issues that accompany Asperger's Disorder, along with daily issues: for example hygiene, organization, and goal setting. By going to Ashburn Psychological and Psychiatric Services we were able to have our son tested by the practice's top neuropsychologist to receive these definite findings. These tests were thorough and provided a great base line for Dr. Oberschneider and our son to hone in on counseling, making the most of each session. Ashburn Psychological and Psychiatric Services also provided us with a top psychiatrist to regulate our son's medication. The doctor communicates on a regular basis with Dr. Oberschneider to discuss the results and status of our son's therapy. We consider Ashburn Psychological and Psychiatric Services our "one stop shop" because they provide all aspects of psychology and not just therapy. We didn't need to spend hours researching to find different doctors who provide all of the services are son required. Ashburn Psychological and Psychiatric Services sees to it that you get the necessary services required so that each patient can live a successful and vital life, without running all over town. Ashburn Psychological and Psychiatric Services provided input and references for each doctor they recommended to us. All decisions were left up to my husband and me with no influence from anyone at the practice. Ashburn Psychological and Psychiatric Services has also done a wonderful job of putting my husband and me at ease by listening to our concerns before each session and including us in the entire decision making process. Most of all, since going to Dr. Oberschneider we have noticed that our son is becoming a conversationalist , is happier and has become more outgoing. He is no longer depressed and his schooling has improved greatly. We hate to think where our son would be today if we didn't have the help of Ashburn Psychological Services and Dr. Oberschneider. I strongly disagree with Mr. Andrew Young’s allegations of a hasty diagnosis and that the practice “dropped interest in our case.” The truth is that each person my children and I encountered-from the administrative staff to the practitioners-was completely professional, supportive, qualified, and ethical. Because of how our case escalated, it was agreed that it would be best to seek therapy services elsewhere. We found this practice after several attempts at bad mental health treatment in Ashburn for our teen daughter. They were our pediatrician's first choice but we tried other less expensive options first. That was a big mistake but live and learn. We received a state of the are neuropsychological evaluation, which gave us the most accurate diagnosis and then direction for the best trearment. We also remained at the practice for therapy and medications, and it's night and day from where we were when we came here 6 months ago and today. I read Dr. Oberschneider's book "Turn That Off And Play With Me!" with my host kids. It showed me how important it is to play with them and to spent time with them. Electronical devices can affect kids so much and is not always good for them. It is much more important to let them be creative and let them be kids. I didn't grow up with an iPhone, computer or tv...I played outside no matter what -when it was rainy, snowy or sunny. I didn't had the chance to sit inside and watch tv the whole day. The book shows parents, guardians, family members or anybody else that you need to spent time with your kids and that you should turn it off!!

The testing here got him into the gifted program after he was first denied a spot with the school's testing. The psychologist even came in on a Saturday to do the testing. Warm and caring group and great customer service!!! Most definitely worth a few hundred dollars to get correct results and to help my son be where he should've been all along for school next year. First of all, I typically don't write reviews like this, but our experience at this practice has been so supberb that I feel compelled to. Our son has autism and we were referred here by his pediatrician who specifically wanted us to see Dr Oberschneider... we refer to him as Dr O. Dr O has been an exceptional therapist for our son, and he has also been very helpful to us as parents in navigating the terrain of autism. He helped us find the right professionals in the community and he worked with the school when our son struggled. He even came to our sons school play to show his support and to our home on a few ocassions when we asked him to when our son was in crisis. We saw a lot of unhelpful therapsits before finding Dr O, and we are so thankful for all that he has done to get our son and us to a great place. Roll forward several years, and our son is heading off to college this fall. We know that that would've never happened if it wasnt for Dr O. Our daughter has also had great success here. She sees Dr Iqbal at this practice who is truly truly exceptional. We can tell you first hand that its very difficult to find a psychiatrist who doesnt rush you through meetings, medicates conservatively and includes parents with care and respect, and we found that psychiatrist in Dr Iqbal. Dr Iqbal we thank you a million times over. Our daughters therapist, Dr Victoria is also great, and she really gets teenage girls. This is a practice of top docs who trully care, and it's also a place where you get positive and lasting results, and we wanted to share that given all the good we experienced here. 5000 stars to APS. This, as you know, has been a very painful and difficult year for our family, and we can't thank you enough for all that you did for Ethan and for us as a family. From attending school meetings. to late night calls and last minute appointments, you truly went the distance for us when we needed you most and it mattered. You are not only a great psychologist (as the many reviews here already reflect), but you are a very giving, sensitive and caring man with a huge heart. People in our community should know that when they see you they are not only getting a Washingtonian Magazine "Top Psychologist" but also a man who truly, truly cares about his patients.
