This Place is stuck in the 1950s, I wouldn't be surprised is they proscribed frontal lobotomies still. I feel there main concern is to get money. The staff is very vague on any information you need and actually pass the information through the patient. You are supposedly able to call any time between 7AM and 10PM but the staff will only answer the phone 30% of the time.

Eduardo Mazal

I love the people in this Hospital. They are always striving to do their best. There is a clear understanding that patients are going through their hardest times and that they are there to receive the help they need. It’s not always easy or pleasant to overcome addition and mental health issues. Patients are under treatment plans and schedules that require them to take responsibility over their own improvement instead spending the day in bed. It’s hard work. The first days can be challenging and rules might seem pointless but it all serves a therapeutic purpose. When you are dealing with probably one of the hardest challenges in your life, you want a team of professionals that don’t only care for your immediate well being but also for your long term recovery.

Jade Johnson

Worst place to get help EVER! Very impersonal. You get there in crisis and are automatically thrown into a full schedule, No individual therapy what so ever, and the overcrowded groups go from sun up, until sundown. Your room door is locked all day, you can't even use the bathroom without asking. It really is more like jail than a Hospital. No one cares about what you are feeling, or thinking, you just have to fill out forms several times a day, every day. In a week I spent maybe four minutes total with my Doctor. If you or a loved one needs help, Go somewhere else.

Alysha Kester

What a racket. Terrible food. Money hungry for sure, unnecessary "treatments". Health is NOT the primary focus of this institution. Being inpatient is like going to prison and very traumatizing. Would never recommend this facility.

Nathalie Aguillon

I was put on the wrong floor, received no therapy other than a completely different therapy as to why I was there. Received an assessment therapy when I was finally discharged. Got bit by bed bugs, every time I reported it I would get ignored or told to put lotion on them. When the “person in charge” finally checked my bed he said “we’ve had them before I would know where to find them.” Now I’m getting charged hundreds for treatment I didn’t receive.

Aaron Wolcott

This is an abusive institution that does not give adequate care to its patients. Do not allow your loved ones to be cared for in this place.

Sabin Ozera

I paid 12 thousand dollars for yoga, a group peptalk each day, sitting for 75% of the time coloring with other individuals with serious problems like myself, nurses that sigh when you ask for help, and a change in my medication. Come at me owner or Jessica telling me this is wrong.

Sarah Poarch

I was impatient for a week, and NEVER had a one on one with a therapist. It was a prison and the whole thing was a joke. I will never recommend this place to anyone. If I could do zero stars I would.

Steven Ewell

It is a good treatment facility

If you’re reading reviews before going here, please consider another facility. I read the reviews before I checked myself in thinking the bad reviews were just from people who were upset about being taken to the psych ward. Please don’t ignore them. I knew I needed to get help and willingly checked in...and I hope no one goes through what I went through. I’m filing a formal complaint with the state as soon as I finish this. I won’t even get into what went wrong for me (but believe me, there were a lot of issues for me personally). What pushed me to the edge was how they treated an elderly man while I was there. This man could barely get around on his own. It took hours before they even got him a walker so all of the patients ended up helping him around (not a nurse...the patients. Seriously). Last night, he soiled himself and was left in his soiled pants for TWO HOURS before anything was done about it. Not only that, when we brought the accident to the nurses’ attention, the nurse/tech who got up to “help” him actually walked behind him making fun of the poor man. He was basically putting on a show for everyone else, making faces about the smell, pinching his nose in an exaggerated manner, while the room laughed. As if he wasn’t embarrassed enough, he then had to be mocked and belittled and listen to the whole place laugh at him. It was infuriating. If you need help, do not go here. There were a few people who made it tolerable (the nurses, Kat and Kristin, were great. The therapist, Marlene, tried to adapt her treatment to all of the various needs of all of the patients. The nurse practitioner, France, went out of his way to make sure all concerns were addressed and seemed to genuinely care for everyone’s well-being.). But the tech who worked last night, Michael, does not deserve to be in any treatment facility. If you can humiliate someone who is already at their lowest when they are seeking help, you’re an awful human and should not work with patients.

This place saved my life this year. I would recommend it to anyone struggling with depression, suicide, drug addiction. I was Inpatient and I also was in an Intensive Outpatient program. The staff really cares and treats the patients with love and respect. I will be forever grateful.

When my mother was a patient, the therapists really helped us understand what was going on with her and how we could best help her. They were very professional and caring.

Jessica Bonner

This is a great hospital and the staff really cares about the patients. They are always committed to providing the best care and treatment for everyone. I highly recommend this hospital to anyone in need.

My family and I had a terrible experience with Salt Lake Behavioral. I went on the ambulance with my 22-year-old sister when she was transferred here, and had very high hopes. It quickly became apparent that they were no where near as helpful as we hoped. My sister has essentially been in a prison these past few days. When my parents began to nag and make a fuss about my sister's treatment, the administration punished my sister by putting her in a more restrictive ward so my family can't see her. Never EVER trust your loved ones with this place. You will very quickly regret it. Do whatever you can to get them transferred.

Well, I am a 30 year old Caucasian male with no dependent children and classified as being in poverty most of my life and recently homeless for last 6 years here in SLC. Trust me. I know how it feels to be mistreated. Looked over. Judged. Hurt. Multiple mental health diagnosis on record as well as being addicted to alcohol, heroin, methaphedamine with period of sobriety long enough to pick up the pieces and get my life stable enough to use again.... I have had the privilege of touring psyc wards from Ogden to midvale 6 in total and out of those hospitals with my medical background and social stigma, lack of family, friends, support and of course no health insurance. Only Salt lake behavioral health showed someone like myself a level of respect and attention not shown in any other location. Those who complained about the policy forget that they were offered multiple options but chose their path. Hospital isn't going to Drop everything and focus on your wants or needs. Too many people to attend to. Like me. I've been there to detox from multiple drugs and get through multiple episodes of psychotic insanity. I was given the same treatment as everyone else and I had a generally positive experience each time. I received partial meds the first night, by the next morning I was on a Subutex taper that continued after my release. Comfortable as you can be in my condition. Ok cafeteria and actual cigarettes to smoke, yes their used as incentive material but the first 2 days it's optional to just stay in bed and veg but you give up cafeteria and smoke privilege. Like a prison? Please...... Obviously y'all are out of touch with a large population living in America. Ever been to prison? Ever spent a winter outside? How about visiting the local soup kitchen and sitting down to eat? Not volunteer. There's 2 specific employees that made the difference. Kim and Brian. Detoxing is hell. They understand that. Realizing that you have a mental health issue is terrifying. They have helped others like us, seen it regularly. I was never refused service, I was treated with respect and all my necessities addressed. Being an addict I only stayed 4-5 days on average and checked myself out once agenst med advice which is easy and straightforward process. Staff never raised their voices and they want participation in all groups scheduled for our benefit. Did we check in to just hide ourself away or spend HOURS talking to your family. Family can help but they can't, won't, haven't and failed in any attempts made. Some people accidentally get Mayo on their chicken sandwich and it ruins their whole week and others just shrug it off and forget it happens. Guess I just lack social sensitivities but when you go through the different levels of hell and get brought back you tend not to sweat the small stuff like asking for the room to be unlocked or showering on routine times, it's just a lil Mayo on your sandwich. Chill. I will rate all my visits as one experience. Generally positive with 2 specific employees that really cared. 4 stars and an honest yet lengthy review from someone on the lower Fringe of society who can appreciate the good work performed there. SLC has a very limited substance abuse support structure. Slowly getting better after operation Rio grande but before this attention SLBH was leading the way offering Subutex doctor appointment and intensive outpatient therapy. Treatment of mental health and substance abuse in tandem is important as well as public awareness to the misery caused by poverty, depression, substance abuse and oppression. Thank you SLBH. Made a change for the better because of your help. No one should avoid help offered or be affraid to just ask them some questions. I believe that they are a 24/7 operation. If you can't afford rehab in the Bahamas or feel the VA hospital is better options for you then go for it. I can agree with all complaints but just view the larger pictures different from everyone else. SLBH was for me.

When I have visited these locations I have been very pleased with what I have seen and the reaction to changes in the individual treatments :) 100%

Staff are careing and very compassionate.

PTSD is a mental illness that needs fine tuned treatment according to an individuals specific trauma or traumas. The staff here at SLBH have mastered this difficult tasked. This program has helped to develop positive coping skills, communication, thought processing, and understanding of my trauma. I am grateful for this facility and the staff. They have changed my life. 1SG William McLill Sr.

A staff member called someone a jerk the first night the patient was there... It went significantly downhill from from that point... There was a "therapist" there that would continuously tell another patient to get highlights in her hair and fix herself up a little... Because that's all that us girls really need to beat depression... Is to be pretty. Inappropriate dress for said "therapist". Skin tight clothing and talked about her ass like she could have been a Kardashian if she were their age now. There were 4 staff that were decent humans, 2 of which weren't actually trained staff but a Tech and the other was a lunch server. This place will make you worse. It's a for profit facility which is incentive for them to keep you there as long as possible telling you you are sick. I used to work at the U of U and this place is a prison in comparison. Find another place any other place!

Jared Crowther

Had a much needed admit and the staff, doctors, and therapists were heaven sent. A super clean, and nice facility. Loved the group therapy and the routines they have created. Really good experience, highly recommend!

Yolanda Vivien Archuleta

Went in for Detox from Benzos and medication management was a short term inpatient stay! I do admit that it went well this time around. Staff was good, and I attended groups I enjoyed the feedback in the groups and tools for empowerment as well. I have nothing negative to say. Glad I'm home and on the right track once again. Thanks to all Staff. I also met really awesome ppl as well. Plus the food in lunchroom was good.

Cecilia Casariego

Great people. They care for patients' needs and recovery

Anna Harrington

My experience was a mix of a small hand full of good people and a lot of very poorly trained mental health techs, and nurses that do not want to (nor should work) with this population. The techs are the worst part of the program, the level of disrespect is that of a prison guard. The policy of locking a patient out of their bathroom is dehumanizing, to a patient like me with Crohns Diseases it was a very humiliating process. There is a huge disconnect between the professional staff and the floor staff, and tension when you clarify policy, practice, or beg for humane treatment from professional staff the direct care staff will punish you accordingly they will take away you ability to eat in there cafeteria, they will bring you back a container of cold food 1-2 items not warm it up, etc. I watched the techs "threaten to take away ciggeretts from smokers as punishment" this is when a tech would "feel disrespected by patient. Techs will YELL at clients "get in line NOW" for classes, food, a bathroom, going outside, treating adults paying THOUSANDS of dollars to stay worse then prisoners. They completely dishoner the military programs sighting it is tailored for you.... They will not provide proper female hygiene products, you will be FORCED to use "pads" the rational is you "may commit suicide with a tampon" was a nurses explication. I myself was told to "go to bed when I was reading" when I explained I cannot "sleep" to a particular nurse and "always read", it escalated to him threatening to have me sent to the psych unit. He then stated, I'll make sure they strap you down to.( he was aware of my ptsd issue and having been held hostage when I was young) he played on my worst fear and I was terrified, I demanded to check myself out, I begged for a supervisor, tried to call 911 (was refused a phone) The "supervisor " was a nurse who was dating the nurse I was terrified of, she was covered in tattoos and had a daughter who was a patient there at SLBH. Very unprofessional. The nurses at night want to sit at there station talk on personal cell phones, play music, watch TV, and generally keep patients awake who have sleep issues to begin with, the nurses speek to other nurses disparingly about patients they don't like. Finally this facility will not provide you with proper anxiety medications, they use "antihistamines" teribble dehydrating me do to my Crohns meds. This is an LDS based program, you need to be aware. They do not have a " special understanding of military or PTSD issue as stated in the intake. A patients was allowed to be sexually inappropriate and harrases others several times before they placed her (where) ? Overall its just not got it together, and the professional staff are out dated in its practice and need to keep religious beliefs at home. Final note playing the song COMFORTABLY NUMB is rehab each day, not theriputic. Allowing patients to verbally attach other patients.....not ok at all. Out patient program was better however it is a money making business as well patients are seconded to money. A note about visitation and clothing, you WILL NOT get your 30 minutes, by the time they answer the phone and take you to the "cafeteria" to visit you may have 15 minutes! They keep it so cold you will need a jacket in the winter, won't allow you a blanket, and if family or friends bring you one, your allowed one day a week to request it, dehumanizing...... and you must beg for the clerk to bring it, nurses blame the clerk and she blames the nurses, while your miserable cold.i read the other reviews, they are spot-on, the responses do not seam genuine. My suggestion send someone, a professional evaluator, in as a patient and do an investigation, be honest in your practice and policy, i agree with what all your posters wrote, and find it very valid. I would suggest cameras as well, I watched a nurse slam a patients bathroom door repeatedly to wake her, this patient was in her 60's Update, I strongly encourage any patient ro get a copy of your records, totally inaccurate, and contact jaco.

Emily Smith

I was honestly very skeptical about trying out the program. I'm in the Air Force and I had a lot of trauma to deal with, but once I did it and completed the program, I felt like a different person! With the help of Salt Lake Behavioral Heath I was able to change how I see myself and started having self love!

Shayna Hulbert

IF YOU LOVE THE PERSON THAT IS SEEKING HELP DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE. The staff is terrible, they are money hungry and DO NOT care about your well being. I witnessed an RN tell another patient on the unit I was placed on that when she got home she was more than welcome to go home and medicate the f*** out of herself. They lost some of my things, and were very rude when I asked to have them back when I was discharged. The therapists are NOT helpful and act very burdened anytime they are asked questions. There is no set plan on what treatment is, when you're getting out, what you need to do to help yourself. It is literally you are placed in there, they will get to you when they feel like it, and you will threaten to white sheet you if you ask about going home. So if you feel like going here is still the right choice, make sure you block out any where between 3 days-2 weeks; because they will not give you or your family an accurate time period of your stay. This place is just adult daycare. You sit and color all day and do group therapy that is not centered on treatment to help you get better, it is only on what has messed up your life this far and to watch out for things that are similar that will probably mess up your life again. Good luck.

Susan Russell

My brother is here. Called and told them in was concerned about my brother being there due to many bad reviews. I was assured this was a great place. I get no phones call being updated on his condition. The therapist Missy was rude and acted like I was due no answers. I make calls ask them to be returned and they are not. This place has me very worried!

Brandy Hooya

Horrible place, If you need real help go some place else like UNI. SLBH is too low budget, and needs someone to come in and teach them how to run the place. I would never recommend this place to anyone. It's like being in jail.

Eduardo Mazal Gaudino

Great staff! You can tell they really care for the patients well being

Greg

This is a great hospital with providers that care for the best outcomes of their patients. With friendly and knowledgeable staff, I would definitely recommend care for anyone needing help.

Did not provide necessary medication for HOURS after admitting into their facility causing multiple seizures in which after 11 minutes and BP of 152 over 125 (very high for me) they decided they should call ambulance I watched them CHANGE medications on people who had been on regulatory meds and doses from other doctors for years- I watched them withhold medication from an epileptic patient- I was consistently harassed w inappropriate comments made by a lead Male nurse. Its freezing cold in there, no blinds on windows and it's super loud and bright at night causing everyone to have such little sleep it HAD to have affected everyone's ability to recover - it sure did mine. They tell you in admitting that they have all sorts of nice therapies and classes- Lies. If you call a lady coming w a cart of board games "Expressive therapy" ...sure...and then bill the insurance I'm sure for all the modalities and therapies "provided". A couple times "therapy" was canceled as they never showed up so... I feel like I essentially sat in a lock down facility with extremely uncomfortable conditions, no personal therapy or attention, food was awful, sleep conditions awful, medication management for myself and others DANGEROUS- I'm reporting this facility to all agencies possible bc I worry about future patients being sent there for "help". Oh, and they have a theif in admissions- 2 people from my ward that I know of, had money and a Cell phone stolen from them after their personal possessions were locked up "safe". Oh and HOW IS IT LEGAL to obtain legal binding signatures from inebriated patients !? I watched 2 people being admitted who were so doped up on hospital meds having to read and sign long contracts - neither could barely write let alone read and fully understand what they were signing. Their own family members werent allowed to be contacted to come and help them. It seemed VERY SUPSICIOUS with illegal and unethical practices from the start. There HAVE to be better places than this. Please do NOT send your loved one here for anything. They could exit much worse than how they entered, posing an extreme risk to their safety, health, life and finances.

Cyndi Olague

Worst experience of my life. Staff was not trained for my needs. Causing more harm and a possible law suit. DO NOT SEND ANY OF YOUR LOVED ONES THERE!

Jeff Horwitz

Carre Morton

Looking into a legal options as my HIPPA/privacy rights were violated by a "therapist". It would be nice if, like you stated, I could talk to someone. I've left voicemails with no response. Not surprised. The response left by you is a robotic response that is on just about every bad review. Please give realistic information on how to contact the patient advocate line, as no one ever answers. Very frustrating.

Brandy Huston

Gaslighting patients for profits..... Enough said and fba green really? ..... your own daughter is a patient

GNXMozaiq .

They have shown me the respect and have given me the treatment I needed. It is recommended if you need help this is the best place to go. The staff is friendly and will take care of your needs during your stay.

Sean Huyck

My partner was admitted here, the staff seemed to never had the answer to any question when you call in, even with the code. They just get the person on the phone and most staff was rude to him. Then they set up A IOP 3 days a week for a group that does not seem to be helping at all. Its sad to see him worse than when he entered and how was able to convince them nothing is wrong. He was there for the 11 days because the insurance stopped paying. I will never send him back here its awful and no emergency help at all, They just refer you to the uni at the UofU..

Raven Carlson

This was one of the best places I've been.

This hospital is horrible. I stayed in the psych ward for almost four days. It is more like a prison than a hospital. I was essentially charged more than $2000 a day to stay in a small room all day. The only things we did all day was two hours of group therapy and 45 minutes of either expressive therapy, pet therapy, or yoga. The remaining thirteen hours of the day was spent in a room with other patients watching television. The worst part was that I only got to have visitors twice (my wife came to visit) for forty five minutes each time. It was pathetic. The only times I was permitted to leave the floor where I stayed was for breakfast, lunch, dinner, yoga, and visitation. Worst experience of my entire life. I went there for treatment of anxiety and depression. I was never so anxious in my entire life. Think twice before checking in yourself or a loved on at this hospital. Plus you have very limited phone time each day. There is only one phone for patient use. There can be up to sixteen to twenty patients on each floor and only four to six hours where you are allowed to use the phone. Pathetic excuse for a hospital.

Cody Cser

Salt lake behavioral health is a fantastic hospital. I personally came here for the Strong Hope military program for PTSD and it helped me immensely. This program taught me so much about myself and I can not explain how grateful I am. The staff is full of great people who truly care about you as a person. I would recommend this program to anyone suffering from PTSD of any kind.

I was in the Strong Hope program, I would recommend any current or past service member that might be struggling to go through the process. The staff is very professional and actually care about helping you with whatever issue you might be struggling with. The facility is nice and the outings were great. I have gained a new positive attitude going forward with life. Thank you SLBH and Strong Hope!

I was treated with dignity and respect during my 7 day detox. I'm now in IOP and I'm receiving great care. I love the staff and they're taking excellent care of me and demonstrating a great deal of patience in my recovery process.

Dave R

Met with Dr Ponce to go over some of my struggles I was having. After hearing the same old from him with little advice and waiting over an hour to see him he charged me 200 dollars. I was hoping he was willing to work with me as a patient but basically just referred me to the clinic he works at (Salt Lake Behavioral). This was little to no help. The reason for the one star is I had to pay 200 out of pocket as he said he doesn't except insurance. The other reason is I've been trying to collect medical records from our visit for over 2 weeks with no luck at all. Make sure to make the right decision and look into your options carefully. I'm glad I did not take his advice and go forward as I only see the situation becoming more frustrating. All my other doctors I've seen have realized the importance of helping a patient and getting easy things like medical records transferred. Horrible experience.

Savanna Dollins

My best friend has been here twice and each time her mood is so much worse than when she has gone in. The staff is very sharp and to the point of rudeness. I never feel like she is safe there or getting any help at all. This place is a joke. And I can say without hesitation that if I were having psychiatric issues I'd choose to go to a homeopathic witch doctor before I'd step a toe here. This facility just seems to make things worse.

Emily Joyce

There are good mental health hospitals and there are bad ones. This is a bad one. I wanna start off with saying I was admitted for depression but I have very severe GAD. I am a psychology major so, even though I am not a professional, I DO know a lot about different mental illnesses. The funny thing is, I read the reviews before going in and I was terrified. I was hoping it wasn't as bad as everyone was saying. I was wrong. This place is awful. When you arrived expect to wait for a couple hours; I don't understand why but expect it. You do get examined naked which I understand. Once you're admitted, you won't get your medicine for at least a day, sometimes longer. I talked with several other patients and they all sympathized because they had all gone through it too, this includes a man who was diabetic. He did not receive his insulin for 24 hours. As new patients came in, they were also upset about not getting their meds and then I was the one sympathizing. As for the claims that it was like prison. I understand completely. I have been in other psych wards that had amazing structure without feeling like your in prison. Something that is a big deal to people with depression is showering, caring enough to take care of yourself. It's hard to get to that point when you are only allowed to shower between 7 and 8 am. I have been to another hospital that allowed you to shower when there was free time and there was nothing scheduled. THAT actually makes sense. The other thing that makes it feel like prison is phone times. You only have the opportunity to call for a few hours every day. For some people, talking to their family and friends provide amazing emotional support, so they are actually limiting this kind of support for patients. The other thing is the phones are right next to the staff so, if you have anxiety like me, you don't feel free to talk and speak honestly to anyone about what they're doing. Something I found HILARIOUS is that they do have a suggestion box. It says on it: "Tell is how good we are doing." They only wanna be praised, they don't actually want to improve. Something else that made it feel like prison is that, if group was going on, they'd lock your door. It was annoying but I guess I get it. At this place you may feel terrible still but you feel so much worse while being there, that you put up with the mistreatment in order to get out of there. If you rebel at all then you're seen as not doing well and then you're trapped. I managed to leave before I was scheduled to because I calmly threatened to sue the place for keeping me longer than I needed to be there. They can only legally keep you there for 48 hours so I waited. After 48 hours had passed they wanted me to fill out some paper that the doctor had 24 hours to look at. I refused. The nurse then called his supervisor and she actually looked at why I was still there. I had to get a bunch of papers signed and stuff but they eventually released me because I no longer needed to be there. I already knew that but they don't listen to you. I had to threaten them with a lawsuit just to be listened to. There is a base for the claims that they just want money from you. I'm not saying it's absolutely true but the fact that they wanted to keep me longer I needed to be there only supports that theory. To be clear I did not leave against medical advise. I was properly released. There are only a handful of staff that seem like they actually care. It's very disheartening. I've tried to fairly address the issues that the other reviews have mentioned.

Mckay Jolley

Messed up my meds pretty bad. The staff were on their phones and seemed to favor patients over the others and seemed to care very little. I would go anywhere else in Utah over this place. Their Out Patient program is okay but I would request any other place than this one.

Destrie Moon

If they have the dinosaur dr. diagnose you take it with a grain of salt. I was diagnosed officially by a specialist with autism. He told me I didn't have it because I could speak to him. Like maybe get some medical info that isn't from the 40's?

Julie Forbush

We were most unhappy with this facility. The visiting hours are not at all family friendly, and there is very limited opportunity for exercise. No one contacted my daughter when her husband was in there for 3 days and then it was only a tech who met with them for discharge planning. There is no psychiatrist on staff. Unable to ever take a nap because they were locked out of their rooms all day. They seem to be very understaffed.

I checked myself into the outpatient program for 5 days a week. I showed up on my first day and it was a 'special' day. The first 3 hours we just watched a movie. After the movie we took a break then came back in and the lady running the group pulled me into a separate room to talk. She said she looked over my papers and said I NEED to be in inpatient so they can put me on heavy medication. I told her the reason I put myself in this program is to learn to cope without heavy medication. She then just said 'wait here' I waited about 20 minutes in an empty room that felt like I was being intergated and a guy walked in and said the same thing the lady had told me. I told him I'm not going into inpatient. He said the same thing, 'just wait here' So again, I sat and waited then about 30-40 minutes later a nurse walked in and apologized. I asked her what she was apologizing for she said "the paperwork for inpatient takes a minute to process" Immediately I took my phone(which was the only thing I had) and called a friend to pick me up because I was scared. The guy walked back in and kept saying how I needed to be in inpatient I told him my friend was on their way and he insisted on walking me out when my friend showed up. He told my friend that I was dangerous basically and we left. By the way, I literally showed up watched a stupid movie then all this happened. No one talked to me I didn't have therapy or do anything. SO I pull up to my house and there are two police officers sitting outside my house. They told me that SLCB called them and said I left a suicide note and I'm a danger so they were there to take me back. NONE of that happened I was calm that day The police officers made me sit with them until my mother showed up i was 19 NEVER EVER EVER EVER go here please.

This facility has really been great! The staff are awesome

Winnie Jenkins

That place sucked and was awful. The staff was mean and just plain rude. They sprayed for cockrages in the middle of lunch.

Labre Foxworth

They were very respectful and helpful. They saved my life I came here in a very dark place and with the awesome attitudes of the staff and the wonderful environment I am in a much better place.

Ashley Arwood

This program was excellent. The staff are exceptional, caring and helpful. I would recommend the Strong Hope program to military needing an extensive helpful experience.

This is a long review, but if you're seriously considering admitting yourself or asking a loved one to, please read all the way through. Salt Lake Behavioral Health is definitely one of the best facilities in their field. While I had a few issues with certain doctors or minor logistics problems, I overall believe they deserve a five-star rating. In every hospital you will find errors, this one just happens to make up for them in so many ways. I specifically need to mention two things. First: their therapists. They have a phenomenal team of therapists who are truly dedicated to your improved health. I sincerely have not seen a staff of this size and quality before. Incredible. Especially Naomi and Anna. Which brings me to my next point. While their inpatient program was good overall (in comparison with the three others I've been in, SLBH probably ties for first place in my book,) their Intensive Outpatient Program is something to be proud of. I chose their outpatient program because it mentioned continuing mental health education, including more about Schema Therapy. SLBH is introducing Schema Therapy to inpatients in a way that is noninvasive or overpowering. They present it as just one of the many options to work towards a healthier you. Schema Therapy really rung true for me, and it is very hard to find a knowledgable therapist trained in this therapy type anywhere else in Utah. I also chose it because the schedule is so accommodating. They have a morning and evening class, and it is held for three hours a day on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Other outpatient programs you'll find require you to be an inpatient at their hospital first, or they are an all-day, full work-week schedule. Once in the program I met Anna Lieber. She is the most dedicated, compassionate, and intelligent person (let alone therapist) I have ever met. She does wonderful work with shame resiliency, which I believe everyone can benefit from, no matter what reason you enroll. But again she is one of the many great members of the Salt Lake Behavioral Health team that is trained and willing to help you be healthy. You have to work for it, just like anywhere, but they'll provide the support you need to do so. They also work with you financially, which is always a huge deterrent for me to get help. Get the help. They will figure out payment plans and anything they legally can to make your well-being affordable. For the record, I walked in hating this place. You probably will too. Getting help is uncomfortable. No one walks out without being better off and more apt to handle the storms life throws at you. You'll get out what you put in. Even if you don't choose Salt Lake Behavioral, don't put off getting help. You're worth it.

Great Staff! It is very obvious that they love the patients that they treat. It is made very clear that the main focus of the hospital is overall wellness and effective long-term treatment.

This place is worse than prison , I would not recommand this for anyone!

The staff is hard to get along with and getting answers on my wifes condition was nightmare!

Salt Lake Behavioral Health is more than just a hospital it is a Therapeutic Community. While there you feel that patient care is imperative and of up most importance. Staff is companionate and advocates for the best interest of all their patients. The atmosphere is warm and inviting with special consideration to sanitation. But you do not have to take my word for it, stop in and see for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

Military program is very well designed and professionally run.

Short staffed. Not the best place.

If you are a Veteran or anyone seeking mental health treatment, run from this place as fast as possible. My husband is still stuck in this facility because of money hungry doctors. I have called multiple times always being told something new. He is a veteran and wasn't even placed with the other veterans on a completely different floor. His psychiatrist went on vacation so they can't discharge him. Isn't that convenient? While they continue to charge thousands of dollars for him to stay there. He has tried to be transferred and they deny it telling the other facilities that he is making progress there? I want my husband to be healthy, but refuse to allow him to stay somewhere where people don't listen to him. The psychiatrist working with him called me and told me he was coming home the next day. Come to find out that was a lie. I am furious and will be contacting state representatives to let them know how this facilities treat veterans. No wonder they have 1 1/2 stars. Obviously we are not the only ones hat have experienced these issues.

This facility, specifically the Strong Hope program, is truly life altering. Here, I regained my will to live and discovered a purpose for my life. In the month I was here, I processed multiple traumas and was able to begin my healing journey fully. The staff is compassionate, nurturing and all have your best interests in mind. I cannot recommend this program enough. I truly believe my life was saved here, and I wouldn’t trade that for anything in the world.

If I could give this place negative stars I would. From the time I got there to the time I left I was kept here against my will. They didn’t even have the correct paperwork to keep me there. Whenever I would ask to leave to speak to someone I was subjected to mental abuse from the staff. When I first got there the lady who admitted me wrongfully thought it would be a good idea to send me to the 4th floor as punishment for being difficult. I had asked if I could speak to a lawyer and how it wasn’t legal for them to keep me there without paperwork. The 4th floor is where highly psychotic patients stay. I was traumatized. A nurse finally took pity on me, and saw I was somewhere I didn’t belong. I had to wait all day to see a doctor, only to be again, mentally abused. I can’t believe I made it out of there. They try to get you to sign all sorts of documents without explaining what they are as well. Never go here. I hope it gets shut down eventually.

This is going to be a long review. DO NOT GO HERE. This place is beyond unprofessional. Nurses yelling at patients, at each other. Patients having verbal fights, and the nurses not intervening, even when it obviously affects the other patients. They put people who were detoxing off of hard drugs with people who were suicidal. I don’t think that’s very safe for anyone. The nurses barely talked to us, and if they did, they seemed to look down on us. Some of them didn’t even know how to do basic parts of their job. They also seemed constantly too busy to focus on/help anyone. They made us stay in the common room, 18 people at all times. No peace and quiet, constantly socializing, and you can’t nap. I understand socializing helps with mental illness, but it can also exacerbate it when you don’t get time to yourself to relax. I regularly found some parts of the building dirty, where as I have worked in house keeping/ custodial work before, I KNOW when something hasn’t been cleaned. The doctors and therapist were rude to patients, not taking their feelings into account. I asked for my AMA papers (Against Medical Advice) to voluntarily be discharged, because I was so unhappy there, being treated less than human. And two doctors refused to give me the papers, saying my insurance would no longer cover my stay if I signed them, which, when later investigated, I found was A LIE. that multiple doctors and nurses told me! They truly do their best to keep you locked up and away like a prisoner. After signing my AMA form which stated it MUST be responded to within 24 hours, and then I get to leave. They made it sound like I could sign the papers and leave right away. NOPE. I had to be seen by doctors, assessed, and then they’d have to discuss how they felt I was doing, and if they’d allow me to leave. I brought up the 24 hours part of the AMA, they laughed, and said it was a typo! The page I AGREED TO, AND SIGNED SAID 24 HOURS. There is nothing professional about this facility, and they don’t care about their clients at all. That is how they referred to us. Not as patients, clients. It’s too obvious that they see you as a cash cow to be milked.

Sue Moyes

The staff are great. They are very friendly and helpful and concerned about patient welfare.

My sister was transferred to SLBH without us knowing and it wasn't until 4 days later we were finally contacted. We were told she was "Much worse than anyone realized" and they listed many behaviors and symptoms none of the family or other doctors had ever heard or seen. They said there was no visitation because "it could hinder the treatment process". Every time we tried to call they had an excuse as to why she couldn't come to the phone. After 11 days of isolation the family began to be suspicious and requested/demanded to see my 22yr old sister. Suddenly we were getting more updates and calls from her 2 doctors (the 2 psychiatrists named Cory and Gayland) that had been treating her. They did all they could to calm us down. They even allowed a short visit but they said "We'll need to know a day in advance and we'll just need a couple hours to get her ready". I thought that was weird. I was happy to See my sister but also thought how strange it was we had to be supervised the whole time. My sister was not violent, nor was she that ill. She repeatedly begged us to take her home whispering "this isn't a good place". Suddenly the nurse told us she was actually set to be discharged within the next few days because "she was doing so extremely well!" We misyakley belived them and convinced her to hang in there a couple more days to finish her treatment. The next day (day 12) I spoke to Cory - Dr and she said "she doing so well she's had a very good and positive day today and she's was very happy all day. We scheduled her discharge meeting for 3 days later. Then all hell broke lose! I called to speak with her later that night at the only time allowed (7-8pm) the "tech" said she was sleeping. They have a strict schedule and bedtime is at 9pm so I asked why she was asleep. He told me "all I know if the nurse said she's been unruley all day and she got aggressive with the staff so they had to sendate her again." SEDATE HER, AND AGAIN???? We were never told she was being sedated at all and 2 hrs prior the dr stated she had another amazingly positive day. I knew something was wrong and I drove to the facility to ask them some questions. To make a long story short myself and my family spent over 6hrs in the lobby requesting to see my sister and requesting to talk to this "dr. Cory" whom told me how well she was doing. They refused to allow us to see her or to speak to any dr. and they even told us "I Dont know why anyone would have told you she was ok enough to be discharged anytime soon. Your sister is very ill and she's a threat to herself and to others". I was so confused. They wouldn't allow us to see her chart nor would they answer what type of meds she was given. (I was listed on her medical release form and should have had access to these things). I called our brother over who works at another hospital in the ER. After only being there for 15-20 min and hearing all the bull crap and back and forth excuses these "nurses" were giving us my brother quickly realized we had a big big problem. The staff was stating rules and policies that didn't exist. Finally they allowed my and my brother to see my sister upstairs in a double locked meeting room. When she wabbled in we were in complete shock and horror. She was violently shaking and twitching like I've never seen before. (Remember I had just seen her the night before and she looked just fine). They tried to tel us she had schizophrenia but even though she was greatly unhealthy looking her mind was clear and she was lucid and answering out questions. We asked how many times they had been sedating her and she said multiple times a day. She showed us bruises all over her arms, legs and hands and she said it was from the staff. She pleaded for us to take her away from there. The staff looked concerned as to what she was saying. I began to snap pics of her bruises on her body and the staff immediately told me "No no you can't do that! It's not allowed!" I said "bull crap it's not allowed". The nurse then said "it's against HIPPA!" And she quickly said "this visit is done!"

Melanie Marks

I was overwhelmed and scared when I came but they helped me. It was a long process but I was not safe and they helped me to feel safe. They helped me understand about my medications and helped me with learning some new skills and better understand why I do the things I do

Mr. Peterson is correct regarding the safety concerns of patients and staff. Salt Lake Behavioral Health for whatever reason does not appear to have the ability to create a safe and therapeutic environment for it's patients. Unfortunately, it is evident that the bottom line is money and not the well being of the patients admitted to the facility nor the staff employed at SLBH. They combine units in order to cut down on staffing costs. For example, they house chemical dependency patients with geriatric patients. Unsafe and non therapeutic for those patients involved. Management has acknowledged there has been a recent "mass exodus" of employees but does not appear invested in finding a solution to the problem. A good portion of the staff that do leave cite not wishing to lose their license and safety as reasons for their resignations. The units operate with insufficient staff which leads to compromised safety for the patients. The staff that are still employed at SLBH are hard working and do the best they can to maintain a safe environment, however, they are getting burned out. People are becoming complacent which can potentially create dangerous situations. It is my hope that this can be turned around and Salt Lake Behavioral Health can be a place that can reach out to the community and offer the best possible care.

P. Edwards

If I could give minus 10 stars I would. SLBH is a horrible place. They provided zero communication to a family in an extremely difficult situation and they could not have cared less. They care about one thing and one thing only - MONEY. Not even Hitler would have deserved to end up there. They took a physically healthy 80 year old and drugged him into a drooling, staggering, trembling 120 year old. No competent medical person would have done what they did to this man. If you need help and someone suggests SLBH run as fast as you can in the opposite direction. Do not under any circumstances let yourself be fooled into believing they care one bit about helping you get well. One last thing. I wish we had done more research about SLBH. A simple Google search will show that the parent company that owns SLBH and other facilities like it accross the country is beng investigated by The US Dept. of Justice for Medicare and Medicaid fraud. That should be warning enough.

Shantal Edwards

this place is worse than a prison if you love yourself or your loved ones STAY AWAY!!!

Terrible, traumatic and terrible. I need therapy just for getting therapy there.Contact me for details. I have a horror story to tell.

The Strong hope program at SLBH is phenomenal. The nurses, techs, staff, yoga instructors, therapists, and physicians are amongst the most dedicated I’ve ever encountered. If you need help, this is where you need to be.

Worst place for psych care! For 48 hours after I was admitted, I wasn't medicated, wasn't given my clothing bag, wasn't given the code they use for people to call in. I was yelled at by staff, told that my mental illness was my fault, and forced to participate in groups sessions that had nothing to do with me or my illness. When it came to discharge, I had to wait 6 hours while I was threatened and spoken to as if I were a criminal. I beg you, don't send your loved ones here!

Spencer Harrison

CONTiNUED REVIEW OF CHELSEA CHIDISTER after the staff abruptly ended our visit we were way way more concerned than before and due to the shocking condition she was in. We demanded that she be transferred to a ER immediately to be medically cleared by an actual hospital and by real doctors. The staff finally agreed and asked that we wait in the lobby. But once we were back downstairs and they got her locked back up they came out and said "I'm sorry but we were told we are no going to be transferring her anywhere." They said "We've had OUR nurse check her and they said she's just fine". We called another hospital asking for advise and they recommend she be seen at a ER. Suddenly the staff said she was "white sheeted" (meaning both my sister and her family have lost all rights Involving her care). They said she was now white sheeted and she wasn't going anywhere! We requested to see this "White sheet" doc but they refused to produce it. It took us over 15 hrs to finally free her from this hellhole! We spent all night and the entire next day fighting to save my sister from whatever corruption and unethical practices this place was obviously doing to their patients. Now my sister is way worse (like 100x worse) than she was when she was first taken to the hospital. We are filing a complaint with DOPL and have retained an attorney. We later found that the 2 psychiatrists (Cory and Gayland) they weren't actually psychiatrists. They had no medical licenses and were merely intern like Therapists. These untrained and unlicensed wannabes were diagnosing and medicating my sister and lying and misrepresenting their credentials. So illegal!! Salt Lake Behavioral Health and their parent company UHS is currently under federal investigation. Never allow your loved ones or ANYONE TO BE TAKEN HERE!!

Jessica Javier

Most of the reviews on here are from patients or family members of patients who clearly do not understand mental illness or who are trying to avoid taking accountability for their behaviors. It can be devastating to have a family member diagnosed or receive a diagnosis yourself and often people will lash out at an easy target. In this case, the hospital and all the staff are the easy target. Sure, there are imperfections and ways the facility can be improved, but don’t let these reviews deter you from admitting yourself or a loved one here. Oftentimes, people do not want to take medications or follow the recommendations of health professionals and so end up with exacerbated symptoms and then get on google and give bad reviews. Hospital stays are what you make them. Take accountability, accept responsibility for your actions and accept that facing change is hard. SLBH has some of the hardest and best trained in the industry.

Recovery and wellness is not easy people, it's something I had to wantbefore I choose to come here. IOP group therapy effectively provided me with new and realistic options on how to improve myself while staying true to my sobriety. Amazing experience-Worked4me

The admissions and business office is VERY unorganized. I did my admissions, then when coming in 2 days later, they had to idea who I was. It took 1 week to even find out any pricing info. The IPO classes are pointless, unless you like therapy that is only a slight step up from writing affirmations on your mirror. Don't waste your time or money.

I hate this place. The staff are rude and inconsiderate. This is more like a jail than a care facility. You get less visitation than people in prison get. They will not give you any information on your husband/wife/kids. They will keep em as long as they can milk insurance. DO NOT LET YOUR LOVE ONES COME HERE!!!

Olivia Walker

Left naked in admission room for over 2 hours with only male staff. Male staff proceeded to mock mental illnesses. They throw you in detox ward even if you're not detoxing. Place is unorganized and uses PAPER documentations. Don't tell you what you need to discharge so they can keep you longer. Therapists are condescending and the way staff treats you makes you feel inhuman. Had a girl with an upper respiratory infection and over 100 degree fever that doctors refused to see and she didnt recieve any sort of meds until 2 days later when she could barely move. They diagnose with B.S. conditions after talking with you for 15 minutes and then push meds for discharge even when they admit that b.s. diagnosis doesn't require meds. Violate patient rights by not providing them upon admission. The experience was traumatic, expensive, and demoralizing. I am in worse condition now that I received "treatment". Don't go here. There are other options.

Jayme Lee

I wish I could give this place 0 stars, this place doesn’t do anything!! My older brother is DEAD because this place didn’t have their right mind to understand after being admitted 2 times!! I can understand if it was once, but two times!!! They should understand that there is patterns!! My brother killed himself on the 19th of February, I now have one less sibling because this place doesn’t know anything about helping their patients!! I would suggest to you guys never go here!! Because they don’t freaking help!!!

Maria McLeod

This hospital helped my mother so much when she was suicidal this year. They also did a good job of keeping the family well-informed and helping the family understand how we could best help my mother keep stable.

Hollie Jewell

Just came out of the mental health unit. Salt Lake Behavioral Health has been a blessing in my life. I was able to get a diagnosis, and I received exceptional treatment. I have left with many tools, along with the right medication, to help with my disorder. The staff were kind, hard working, and went above and beyond to provide a therapeutic and very pleasant environment. Mike, Dan, and Ben were absolutely amazing staff. They all deserve praise and recognition for their kindness. They kept me in good spirits, treated everyone with respect, and are wonderful staff, and wonderful human beings. I personally didn't meet any bad staff. If I could give them 10 stars for their service I would. Thank you very much. Hollie

My wife went here and had an absolutely terrible experience. She was there a week and the doctor never saw her once. They never gave her any form of therapy. They showed no compassion. In her words, "it was hell". She was in the same state when she left that she was when she went in. They treat their patients like cattle.

Victoria Dimond

They didn't take my insurance and held me there against my will illegally. Lucky my partner works in the mental health field, and got me out due to the hospital holding me illegally (kidnapping). I don't remember the experience because i was drugged the whole time. I have severe ptsd and they were treating me for schizophrenia. They tried to prevent my partner from visiting me, saying it was against my treatment plan. I've been to a few psych hospitals and this is by far was one of the worse. I've been helped a lot at other hospitals, but this place was a nightmare. I was covered in bruises when i got out from the sedations. My partner counted at least 20 little bruised shot marks on my butt, and that's just the ones that hadn't faded yet. Also, the VA no longer allows veterans to be covered there because this hospital scams insurance companies. So, if our own gov doesn't trust this hospital....u should run.

Beka Kalevik

Strong hope has such care for the patients and out of person experience will go out of there way to help. If you are a women of male in the military with trauma and are needing help. I can’t express how much this is the place for you. Come with a open mind and open heart. You will only get as much out of the program as you put in. They people you meet here are amazing and truely great. The connects you build for people from all branch’s here will last a life time. Id highly recommend this program to others

Keneth Setzer

The stronghope program that was in this hospital is one of very few words. It's great in helping the little guy, and helping you get back on track with your life. The staff is very helpful, friendly, and the doctors are very knowledgeable when it comes to meds they know there stuff

Deez Nutzgrinder

my brother in law was put in an inpatient addiction program by the police, as soon as he was in he was able to manipulate his way out from the female shrink even though he had suicidal tendencies and we made them aware "do not release him! he has talked about suicide because his addiction to air duster" the shrink said "well there is a really low mortality rate huffing" even left a voicemail to the CEO. long story short they released him, he went on a binge got arrested, now is facing prison time, I don't recommend them to anyone they don't listen all they want is money... corporate greed.

Dylan Bilanzich

This is the worst psychiatric hospital I could ever imagine. how they treat people is like jail, no compassion, no true care to help the people who come looking for help. The bottom line is how long your insurance will let you stay! That is there only concern. If a loved one needs help take them somewhere else!!!!

Darren Griffin

I had concerns before signing myself in and admissions lied to me and said I could sign myself out anytime I choose after I had seen the doctor. The doctor didn't get around to seeing me until late afternoon the next day and after I said I wanted to sign myself out he said he'd have to run it by his team the next morning. Admissions also said I could sign a against medical advice form and get out anytime I wanted as well. They didn't tell me that form takes 24 hours to process and that insurance very likely would not cover any expenses. After finding that out the doctor came by with a big grin, clapped me on the shoulder, and said "I see they told you the good news". Regardless of the situation no doctor has the right to mock a patient.

Melani H

Pros-The other patients and some of the workers. Cons-SLBH.... This is one of the worst psychiatric hospitals I have ever been to. They are horribly under staffed, medications are not given on time, specific male Doctors like to believe they are better than the patients, and I feel like safety is a huge concern. Staff was so under staffed that there where times that schedule activities could not be done, it also got to points where staff would get so stressed out that it felt like they where almost taking it out on the patients. There were also so many conflicting points between different staff rules that patients were left uncertain of the actual rules and what could and couldn't be done. Honestly I could write a novel about how bad this place, if you have a way go to the UNI. I wouldn't recommend this hospital to my most hated enemy.

Emerson Isaac

My complaints are two-fold: one part on the medication I was given and not fully informed of the risks of, and one part on the overall care at the hospital. Please read both. The medication I was given here had terrible side effects, almost too many to list. I was told that paliperidone injections had fewer side effects than oral risperidone, so I chose that option. However, I was initially prescribed 1.5 mg of oral risperidone, but then I was prescribed 400 mg of paliperidone palmitate injections to "get me up to a therapeutic dosage", which is equivalent to about 9mg of risperidone per day, MUCH higher than what I would have been taking if I'd stuck with risperidone. The side effects were awful, and since the medication was a long-acting injection, I was stuck with them for a long time. I was told that the medication only caused weight gain "if I didn't watch what I ate," which places most of the blame on the patient if they gain weight. But the medications literally slow down metabolism and made me extremely hungry. I also felt very sedated, and felt more sedated if I was not constantly eating. I was gaining about 10% of my weight per month for the two months after I received my injections. Almost 9 months later, I still haven't fully recovered. I still have reduced muscle mass, weight gain, toenail fungus, acne, flat emotions, and worsened memory (from the cogentin I was prescribed for extrapyramidal side effects). I'm more prone to injury, and I've had about 4 sprains and 1 pulled muscle from gentle exercise since I took the paliperidone, despite having grown up doing competitive sports and remaining fairly athletic for most of my life. For the first couple of months after taking the paliperidone, I was completely incapacitated, and I had to use Cerebrolysin in order to recover from taking the paliperidone palmitate as well and as quickly as I have. Worst experience of my life. My stay at Salt Lake Behavioral Health was not great. Many of the nurses were rude and inconsiderate of patients' feelings and refused to apologize. One nurse talked about me as if I wasn't there, making jokes about my birth name. I wanted talk therapy but there never was any. I feel like the staff was extremely overworked, resulting in incredibly poor service. I get that about a 5th of acute psych patients end up being violent towards a mental health professional in the hospital, but I was never violent or aggressive in any way, and it sucks to suddenly have everyone act like "tough love" is what I need just because I am having a psychotic episode. The hospital needs better management so that nurses are properly educated on how to deal with aggressive patients, because what they did while I was there was clearly counterproductive. The nurses frequently yelled at patients and would refuse to try to see things from the patient's perspective. One of the more severely ill patients was locked up most of the day like a dog with severe separation anxiety locked in a kennel just screaming and yelling. That's what it reminded me of. A neglected and traumatized dog. It was heart wrenching and horrifying to see a human being in that condition and being treated that way. The care at this hospital was clearly inferior to treatment I've gotten at other hospitals for non-psychotic disorders. I was completely shocked that this is the state of care for people with psychosis in the 21st century. I'd have thought that neglect, abuse, and (in this case, chemical) lobotomy for psychiatric patients were things of the past, but clearly this is not the case.

This place was great for helping me get back on my feet but the real joke is their billing department. I submitted financial aid paperwork 2 months ago and have not heard back from them I have been trying to contact billings to get this debt taken care of and essentially they just don't care at all and have yet to call me back.

Dolores Dahlberg

VERY disappointed in the service that was provided at Salt Lake Behavioral Health. Admitted and not medicated for several days. Altercation with Staff Member charged and sent to jail. Easy way out. Salt Lake Behavioral Health is supposed to be helping the mentally ill not creating more of a problem for the patient. Had several conversations and specifically asked if this was too much to handle and should I have the patient transferred to UNI. The answer was no we handle these situations all of the time. Should have went with my gut instinct.

Stacy Knight

I went in because of an ativan overdose which caused extreme anger. I was never treated like "a crazy person" . I was treated with kindness and respect. The doctors, nurses and techs were all personable as well as professional. I spent some time going over my bottled up anger and was released with a plan to keep me from bottling up my emotions. Group, Recreational and one on one therapy were all helpful. I am eternally grateful to Salt Lake Behavioral Health for everything they did for me.

Courtney Fussell

I was in the Strong Hope program and I cant express enough how much this program changed my life. The staff made the program they are very knowledgeable and attentive. Highly recommend this to anyone who needs help.

Jennifer Britt

The care here is exceptional for PTSD. The staff is specially trained in trauma, specially military trauma to include sexual and combat trauma. Even the technical staff really care for the service members in their care.

sherry wiseman

I was in SLB in feb of 2016 for detox . And was in their IOP before that and am currently in the IOP program. I love the employees there but my detox experience was not so good. I was medicated but not told I would have to get off my pain med too as my problem was benzios not opiates. I was put on Subtex which did help my pain but that wasnt until the third day in pain. When I took the first dose I was so out of it and just wanted to lay down but they lock the doors at 8:00 am and they would not let me lay down. It was terrible. I had to sit in a hard chair at a table and do nothing which cause me to nod more. They had two groups a day and beside that you just sit. The IOP program is okay. Sometimes I leave feeling like it was a waste of money but there are times when I do feel better. My therapist is wonderful at IOP but the program could use some tweeking. I would say that since mental health help is so limited in the valley that this place is about a 7 on a scale of 1-10.

Vanessa Slack

I think it's a great place to work. Obviously, there are certain rules that patients and even visitors need to follow but they are informed as soon as they arrive to their units, as well with the patients' rights. It's all part of the treatment. I'd recommend others to work here.

If you have a loved one who is here. GET THEM TRANSFERRED IMMEDIATELY. Most of the horrors that happen here are when no when is watching. When they can get away with it. Basically Requim for a dream. Spot on actually. If it wasn't for my mother a Registered Nurse, and my father, someone of immovable will. I would be living the rest of my days in a psych ward. I have no history of mental illness and neither does my family. I was transferred here after becoming lost in the woods while on psychedelic mushrooms. I became extremely dydrated and experienced heat stroke. The emergency room did what they could, but I was still in a delilrous state. (Extremely conscious, just confused) but they ended up transferring me here for a total of 6 days. It took a full two days for my parents to have "visitation" rights even though I was a minor. I was given huge doses of multiple kinds of drugs, anti-anxiety, sleeping pills, shot up in the hip with barbiturates etc. I was in a pharmaceutical induced "coma". My mother, (being an RN) was Horrified. She gave the doctor hell but they still held me against my will, and it took my parents an additional 4 days to get me removed from there "rehab". All the while they used the symptoms of my withdrawals (giving me a ton of drugs and then suddenly stopping) and my behavior while "high" on their drugs as leverage against our own insurance company that I had to stay there for my own safety. Not to mention that it was impossible to eat or sleep during my stay which wrecked havoc on my body as I was already near death before my initial stay... GET THEM OUT. DONT BRING THEM HERE. EXPECT LEGAL ACTION AND HEADLINE NEWS!!!
