hehorne I AM

This man's head is just way to big to fit it in the door. He brags on his website: "He has appeared on CBS' 60 Minutes and is a noted speaker and lecturer on childhood development and drug abuse by children and teenagers." but spends no time with children talking to them about their medication. Under this man's care, my son was sent to 3 different hospitals, one of which kept him 2 months to the tune of 50,000! and did my son get better? NO! Under all this stress, I personally started seeing him (well I never saw "him" only his physician assistants) for stress and anxiety. I then had an episode where my mom was in ICU dying and I was out of xanax (duh) 3 days early. Even though I faxed them paperwork from the hospital proving I was lying, they REFUSED to call in an early refill since I was out of town. My mom got out (thank the Lord above, I give him all the glory and honor) and 3 months later she's back in the hospital having emergency surgery. Yesterday I run out of medication ON TIME and when I call for a refill, I was told that "they decided" not to treat me anymore and they will not call me in a refill.... oh did I mention this was decided LAST MONTH and did they tell me? NO! Send me a letter? NO! I asked what should I do and they said call your primary doctor and see if they will help you until you get back into town. Well my doctor is willing to help me and CALLED Dr. Pesikoff personally and they refused to tell her anything unless I sign something. Ok fair enough. I called Pesikoff's office and asked them could they simply email me the form and I will print it and fill it out. "We don't email!" I was told. I said, well how do you expect me to send you something? This rude woman told me to run by my doctors office and sign something. Lady, what part of "I'm in Louisiana" don't you understand?! So she snaps back, "well how are you going to get your medication?!" I reply, SHE WILL CALL IT IN TO MY LOCAL PHARMACY! So I go down to the library, write out on a piece of paper giving them permission to tell my doctor they dropped me like a hot potato and spent 2 dollars only to discover THEIR FAX MACHINE IS BROKEN! Listen, bottom line. Dr. Pesikoff thinks he's the cat's meow cause they did a small spot on 60 min... SO WHAT?! Don't they realize WE HIRE THEM? I don't think they do and that's why they are jerks to us. He must be something special if you miss your appointment and he charges you $60 anyway. I told them that my son was still a patient of his and if I'm not good enough for him anymore, then neither is my son. So Mr. Big Britches not only lost 1 patient, he lost 2. But he don't care, there will be people coming to replace me unless someone stands up to him and says NO MORE! What happened to respect? What happened to integrity? I'm going to call my insurance company and see if they were billed for me and my son seeing him personally because we don't ... can they charge the same amount to my insurance company and we didn't get to see the doctor at all? I don't know about you, but I'm getting real tired of being run over by these people. So if you are looking for a GOOD psychiatrist, keep looking, you won't find them here!

I suffer from clinical depression. For those of you who don't know what that means. It's the kind of depression that if left untreated, I will be unable to function, get out of bed, take a shower, leave the house etc. I have, in the past been so tired of me, I was suicidal. I take an assortment of medication each one addressing a certain area of my depression. I have been told that I will be on medication for the rest of my life. The life that Dr. P saved. I have now been seeing him for at least 20 years. As the years have passed, occasionally a medication stops working and then we have to try to find something else and find the proper dosage. This usually a Sometimes this is a trial and error exercise. On the rare occasions I've been in trouble with my depression and asked to see him, I'm in that day or at the latest the following day. I have had to see a PA's several time he has been out of town and I find his staff competent and patient. I never feel like I'm bothering them or being a pain in the arse. His staff members are always willing to assist me, at times they've called refills into the pharmacy and/or dealt with my insurance coverage to insure the medication I am taking is covered as I take a number of brand names that are medically necessary.filled as I don't under what the problems are that other people are having, could be their expectations are misguided. This is not Grey's Anatomy, or Marcus Welby MD., Dr. P is a Psychiatrist not a Psychologist, his purpose is to make sure your emotional health is stable. If you want someone to hold your hand while you sort out all of your life's problems, then he's not the doctor for you. If you suffer from an imbalance of the right chemicals you need to be as mentally healthy as you can be, he's your doctor. It doesn't take hours to diagnose a mental illness and because he's as knowledgeable as he is, he can reach the bottom line by listening to your symptoms as long as you are forthright and include all of the issues.

I was prescribed 2 medications that had Moderate to serious risk of interaction without warning from them or my pharmacy. I took the meds specifically as instructed. It caused me to have a horrible car accident. I let it go because I didn't want to deal with more emotional stress than I already had. The entire office lacks compassion and communication skills. The office manager was very rude and messages left went unanswered. They tried to charge me for missing an appointment I never made.

Nicole is my Clinician and she is the most Accommodating, Knowledgeable, Professional Clinician I have ever seen! She makes me feel at ease, understands me culturally & gets what I am going through...She knows how to adjust my meds to keep me functioning with out criticizing me...Nicole, I hope you are well, if you are reading this, and I hope you return to work after your leave!

I've only seen a PA there, not the actual Dr on the name of the establishment. I have always been able to get appointments when I needed. My longest wait time was about 15 minutes. For me, she asked whether I wanted an appointment just to essentially discuss medication needs or if I wanted an appointment to actually sit and talk (talk therapy). I chose just medication so my visits are only about 15 minutes where I show up and get my prescription filled. For me it's a sort of in-and-out appointment if you need a place that caters to that. I'm interested in doing more of the talk therapy but I can't comment on that side since I have not done it. The office is on the non-busy side of the Galleria so pretty easy in and out. Never had an issue with parking right outside the front door.

Alex Davis

I have been seeing one of the PA's here due to ADD and have had a good experience overall. The office is responsive to phone calls and has been friendly and helpful every time I've been in.

Dr. Pesikoff saved my son's life. He is an expert in his field. His approach to treatment was conservative and effective. After six years with him, I hope he doesn't retire any time soon!

I was suffering from severe anxiety, I heard about this Doctor and his associates. My NP. Was Mrs. Surya. She listens to what I had to tell her, she was very caring very open, and I could tell she wanted to do what was best for me. I would highly recommend her if you are going to this doctors office. Five star rating from me

We have had a rough year with all the testing and diagnosis of our 8 year old child. Dr. Pesikoff and Staff have been great!. I most defiantly think that each patient is a case by case thing. They explained to me the different options I could take with her and gave us the option to choose which way to go. I think our role as a parent is to also research around for many different things that could help our children not only depend on the doctor. Of Couse the doctor is a key element in treatment but yet the responsibility is of the parent to follow the plan. Come one we have to be realistic if a doctor has more than 1000 patient for example…..do you really think he will remember what he told you a month ago? hmmmm…most likely not and this with anyone. Shoot I cannot remember all that happened last week…..So overall what I am saying is look around test which doctor works well with your child get second options, do your homework… To me they were GREAT!!!!!

KAYLA YOPP

extremely rude staff especially the person at the front desk who slammed the door in my face. These people are supposed to help individuals who are suffering and they did just the opposite. Very sad, I am very disappointed.

David R

He's a good intelligent doctor, who prescribes based on needs. Now his billing company on the other hand is awful. To the other people giving bad reviews, wa wa wa. He's the best doctor in the city.

Tiffany Hernandez

Had an appointment with Dr. Pesikoff today. I am so happy with the outcome. It was the first time meeting him. My first appointment with an NP. She was great but I really wanted to see Dr. Pesikoff. In order to get to him you have to see one of his NP's first. So I just had my second appointment there and requested to see him for my second appointment prior. He was so awesome. He actually talked me and asked me questions, listened to me. He makes you feel comfortable. He adjusts my meds to the right dose and he isn't one of those psychiatrist who is afraid to prescribe what is really needed. He listens and he understands. I am seeing for my depression and extreme anxiety issues that issues. I just can't say it enough how pleased and happy I am. I really don't understand when I see a review about front office being rude or mean. Everytime I've called they answer right away and the girl is always nice. Second time I've been up there and they're not rude at all. The wait time is not bad. I only had to wait a few min after my scheduled appointment. If your looking for a great doctor with a lot of experience see Dr. Pesikoff. I literally drive all the way from Galveston area to Houston to see him, like almost an hour drive. It's worth it!

I had a good experience in get my medications figured out. However, I felt confused in my interpersonal experiences. They were distant, uncaring, and seemed to watch my every move -- my guess is that they were trying to figure out when I said a lie and when I said the truth. They would cut me off, or push me out the door. They were so unkind -- I wonder if they are racist.

Highly recommend. Very professional and quality care. Staff is excellent and very responsive.

Key Master

Horrible communication problems between office, doctors, pharmacies, and patients. Shady billing policies. Office manager is uncaring and doesn't listen to administrative-based concerns. NP Surya seems more like she's there to make money/push pills than to actually listen and help. They scheduled an appointment without my consent and then tried to make me pay $60 for a missed appointment! When I called to discuss I was interrupted and rudely spoken to by the office manager. I am going away with more anxiety and depression (and distrust!) than when I started!!!

Heather Boutte

I showed up suicidal, bipolar, and hallucinating. He now considers me "very stable". Dr P is a gift from God. He listens and works with me to find the right medication. He likes to use me with the medical students, which I find fun, because they'll be my doctors after he is gone (God forbid!).; I have to travel crosstown on public transit to see him and it is worth every second.

Michael Linville

Best doctor's office I have ever been to. There is a very easy going vibe for a doctors office. The staff have always been easy to work with and friendly. I have been a patient here for about 3 years and I highly recommend this doctor to any one who needs help.

Shirley Fuller

Scheduled an appointment with his nurse practioner since he is no longer accepting new patients. I missed the appointment by 30 minutes because of a work emergency and they refused to reschedule the appointment unless I gave them $60. So, who cares about ones mental health, right? Who cares that emergencies come up, right? I'll just find someone else that has real creditials and wait months to get into. Thanks for nothing!

Mariah McCray

I love this office the people are so sweet make you feel comfortable

My daughter was seen by a PA on regular basis and him once. Honestly he doesn't treat all patients equally. The PA and staff are very cold and robotic. There is no personal investment there. Very apathetic staff concerned with this is your diagnosis take this. If you question to much or your child is to complex a case they will dismiss you and don't give you but 1 week notice and don't care if child has another doctor to be able to get medication. It turned out to be a blessing the psychiatrist she sees now actually talks to her and not at her and is invested and available to us so him dismissing her blessed her she would not get this at his practice. If it's simple ADHD or something then their sufficient but bi polar more complex, multi issues I'd advise against

Dr Pesikoff has been taking care of me since I was a teenager. I have never had any doctor take so much time and be so responsive to my needs than he. I literally owe him my life. I am so happy that he has not retired!

Brittany Pennick

Just had our first appt today with the nurse practitioner and it was the worst doctor appt experience I've had in my life. This appt was for my 5 year old to discuss possible ADHD, and possible treatment options. I've worked as a medical professional in adult neurology and neurosurgery for 4 years, and have had ADHD my entire life. I have a very firm grasp on this subject and quality standard patient care. Dr. Pesikoff came highly recommended to us by the multiple neurologists I work for, who Dr. Pesikoff treated their children for ADHD and ODD 20 years ago. My spouse is generally opposed to treatment, he's law enforcement and has obvious concerns surrounding the types of drugs used to treat ADHD. I was hopeful that with this doctor's experience and expertise, we would be able to have my husband's concerns and questions addressed, and help him understand the dynamics of this diagnosis and the treatments available. That did not happen. His NP was cold, and very rushed, and became frustrated by my husband's questions and him asking for more detailed clinical statistics. Towards the end of the visit she flat out dismissed him entirely saying to me as if he wasn't even in the room, that he just doesn't understand how it feels to deal with ADHD. She mentioned twice, that she was running out of time to continue to speak with us, so when I stated that we would just make a follow up to actually speak with Dr. Pesikoff, she quickly informed us that Dr. Pesikoff wouldn't spend no more than 20 minutes to meet with us, and that is why he doesn't see new patients, because they require more time. I was appalled at the lack of concern and professionalism by a provider, and by the way she completely disregarded my husband's prescence when he was not swayed by her short answers and it was obvious his questions surpassed her level of knowledge on the subject, yet she proceeded to make us feel as though his knowledge on the subject was because he "just doesn't get it" instead of further educating us about it. After 40 years, I am sure Dr. Pesikoff would be embarrassed to know the presumptive manner in which his mid-level providers speak of the way in which he practices and treats patients.

Melody McReynolds-Perez

Dr Pesikoff has always been great. He cares, he's intuned.and he goes out of his way to be there for his patients. He also takes care of children and adults. He is a phenomenal doctor!

donna cox

Very nice. My girls have been patients since 2003.

Sharollet Thompson

My daughter has been a patient here for the past 7 years. Diagnosed with ADHD at age 5, I was cautious about putting my kiddo on meds. He listens to me, in fact he has said more than once, "you're the mom, you know your child." In 7 years, we've only seen a PA maybe 3 times, each experience went well. But, Dr. Pesikoff has come in on Saturdays to see my child on numerous occasions. One instance, he came into the office to see my daughter before catching a flight to do a television show in New York City.

Best Psychiatrist and PA Staff in Houston. I have been seeing a PA at Dr. Pesikoff's office for about 6 years. Actually 2 different PA's (1 was replaced by another). Both were great. My parents became ill, one after the other, and I was under a lot of stress and completely overwhelmed. They listened to my issues, and have helped me keep my life under control, which is something I could not do by myself. The office staff has always been responsive to refill requests; however, they do follow rules, so when I am scheduled to come in for an appointment, I go in. Otherwise, they will not refill my medication, which is a practice that I believe is fair and responsible.
