As an inpatient I was treated very well and got the help I needed. I found a calm environment there even though there were other patients there who also had a variety of seriously troubling conditions. The staff was considerate and every one of them called me by my first name from the minute I arrived. It was so soothing and kind to be treated as an individual person and not a number. Seriously. All of the staff, from receptionist to janitor, from cafeteria staff to security staff remembered my name. I got the help I needed and will always be grateful.

absolutely awful. 0 stars. I went into the hospital recently, as I was very depressed with a lack of motivation. they put me on Wellbutrin which worked very well for me. I was more happy than I have been in a while. I even ate better. I do have an eating disorder but I proved to the doctors at the hospital that I would eat properly if it meant I could be happy on meds. I didn't purge, and I didn't skip meals. they sent me home, glad I was doing better emotionally and with my physical energy and health. so was i. i continued to eat a vegan diet including proteins, fats, carbs, and fruits. which is what they put me on at the hospital, and i discovered i liked it. i was feeling great, awake and healthy. anyways, my meds ran out. so I went to pes, because I don't have a doctor. I waited 6+ hours to get a prescriber. he completely took me off Wellbutrin, the meds that were working and put me on Lexapro. I told him I have tried Lexapro with negative side effects in the past. he didn't want to hear it. I told him I'm healthier on Wellbutrin because I'm happier, didn't wanna hear it. the doctors at the HOSPITAL put me on Wellbutrin. they said I seemed perfectly fine. didn't wanna hear it. so he said technically oh well and sent me home with medicine i already know has bad side effects on me. since then, ive stopped taking the Lexapro and now i feel like garbage again. it was just making me sleep all day. now i have to go into a hospital all over again just to get the right meds back because I'm back to square one. thank you PES, for wasting my time for absolutely nothing.

I've been here twice now, once for me and once for my friend. For me they helped me get started with their clinic to replace the psychiatrist i used to be on that stopped taking my insurance. For my friend who needed hospitalization and had been treated poorly by Seton Medical Centre, they called all the hospitals until they found one that had space for her. Their compassion and willingness to do what was needed to help was wonderful. I do wish there were more on-site services. There aren't doctors on the weekend and they are always too busy on the weekdays to get everyone to see a doctor who doesn't show up basically the moment they open. I imagine they need more funding, which isn't really their fault, more the fault of the state of our mental health care in this state.

Be prepared to wait between 6-7 plus hours to be seen by the intake Dr. It's ridiculous that they only have 1 Dr doing intake for all of the City of Austin and Travis County. It's no wonder that many individuals just end up leaving without any help because you have to literally stay there ALL day. The security is a piece of lazy cow crap too! He's so lazy to even report or step in and help when he see's a patient overdosing themselves with medicines in the lobby. I hope that when case management takes over it goes smoother but I don't have high hopes at all. This place is horrible everyone looks like they hate their job and don't want to be there. They don't treat the individuals with respect. So sad that the great city can't invest in more resources into this place and get people that actually love what they do or least fake it geez!! Mental Health is a very common illness and we should have better.

Great place if you have nowhere else to go. The wait is horribly long and the staff can be some what rude. But just ignore that and realize that you will see a doctor and a counselor. They can give you prescriptions if meds are what you need. Try to avoid on the weekends as there is no doctor . If it's bad enough please go to emergency room where they can keep you for overnight for observation and even place you in a psychiatric hospital if that is necessary. Steps can be taken but they are not always comfortable

They really help people here.

If I could give negative stars I would. Every time I call I'm on hold for at least 20 minutes, and it isn't even actually this facility that you're connected with. Been here twice and each time I had to talk to a counselor, nurse, and doctor because apparently they don't keep any of the information you tell them. Also, the doctor didn't send my prescription to the pharmacy, so now I have to keep calling back or try to go in, and basically wait forever just to talk to someone. Do NOT come to this place. Ever. I literally can't say enough bad things about the horrible experience I've had with this place. They should be shut down.

Too slow can't really help someone. Don't call cause some don't care to talk to busy laughing

Psychiatric Emergency Services. I witnessed a schizophrenic man ask for help multiple times from PES, specifically for his mental illness. PES called the police/ems/fire. The police/EMS literally told the PES staff, "What are we supposed to do? There's nothing we can do for him. He's not breaking any laws or in need of physical medical assistance. Being mentally ill is not a crime; stop calling us & do your job!"

These guy's and gal's are saints! I had to take a friend there today to get help and they helped him to get the treatment he needed.

I went there to be seen to try to get help or find out what I needed to do. Well I'm waiting for the lady to come talk to me . And when she comes she has a miserable look on her face as if she dreaded being there I asked what I needed to do to get reevaluated n get meds . She said in the most miserable voices we can't help you there's no openings today the drs leave at noon. And gives me a piece of paper with information and a intake number. To call . I said thank you with a smile and left. .. . My advice to her would be you choose to work there u wanted to help others. Smile show the people u care about helping them since it was Ur choice to work with others with psychiatric problems. . If Ur that miserable u can't smile. Get a new Job. ...

Went here hopelessly depressed and suicidal, also having a panic attack. Once i mentioned anxiety i was turned away and told they cannot help me. Didnt offer any other way to get help. Left crying. Whats the point of this place? This was about a year and a half ago The mental health system as a whole is a joke. I expressed i was suicidal. My mom called the police for help. They came to my house and wrestled me into handcuffs violently. They took me to brack where i was released an hour later with no help My medical dr wont listen, the hospital wont listen. There is no help.
