I need to start this review by saying that I started going to Summerville Behavioral Health due to postpartum after my third child. It was pretty severe and made me feel extremely anxious and depressed. I recognized that I wasn't feeling myself so I sought help. I started seeing Sandy at SBH and the positives are that she is nice and friendly and makes you feel comfortable. She also took the time to try different medications and look into what could affect my baby for nursing (although I have to recognize this is part of her job). The negatives: When hurricane Irma came, my postpartum became severe due to anxiety from the hurricane and that I may have to leave my family during the storm due to my high stress job obligations. I called Sandy FOUR times over a four day period without any call back. My anxiety got so bad that I went to a walk in clinic who then call SBH and was able to make an appointment for the next day. In Sandy's defense she said she called my phone number and got a busy signal. I tried the phone number she had and it did in fact have a busy signal. I wish Sandy would have taken a step above the minimum effort and checked the front desk files. They have called the correct phone number numerous times for insurance confirmation and for confirming appointments before this took place. Sandy then prescribed medication which wasn't the correct dosage, she apologized and asked me to come back in two weeks rather than the normal four.. why she couldn't call the prescription in still confuses me, but I agreed to come in the two week time period. When that appointment came, I drove 40 minutes from my job, on my lunch break to see Sandy. My appointment was at 11:30, I arrived at 11:25 and checked in. I told the FD that I was going to use the bathroom and was in a chair in the waiting room by 11:30am. I waited until 12:05 with out being called in. I was being patient due to the fact that Sandy may have had a distraught patient and I was trying to be understanding. By 12:05 I needed to start hurrying up as I needed to go back to work. The FD looked for Sandy and then apologized and said she must have not heard them call her and that she was at ZAXBY's getting lunch and was not answering any calls that they were trying to get through to her. I waited another half an hour and finally left. Sandy called and apologized and said that she had looked for me but I wasn't there so she left. I was sitting in a chair the entire time in their lobby, so not sure how this is true. Either way it was frustrating, she enjoyed her lunch and I missed my and spent money on gas for no reason. Needless to say, I will not be back. I do not recommend Summerville Behavioral Health.

Receptionists are terrible! They made an appointment for a certain date, I arrived on that date, and they told me it was a different date and that I missed it. The day we scheduled it I asked them to repeat that date to me 3 times so I was sure I put it in my phone correct. So I know it’s not my fault.

I’ve never felt more comfortable at a mental health facility in my life. The office staff is friendly and my practitioner, Christine Hamolia, was warm and compassionate. She seemed to really care about me and what we need to do to help me feel better.

Paid $138 for nothing. The staff and therapist Dr. Crooker were nice enough but after a hour of talking all she could do was tell me that I should just keep seeing my family doctor and then I was charged $138. I'm just frustrated that for all that money I was basically told that I just wasted my money.

Dr Burke Worst doctor ever, Most uncaring self centered doctor. And dont ask questions, he will tell you to leave, because you are not a doctor so who are you to question his test results. Wouldnt send my worst enemy to him

I have been seeing Dr. Jones since I was young. He has always helped me and has helped me tremendously with what I am going through and was very understanding and treated me like a child he saw grow up not just a patient so I am very appreciative of everything he has helped me get through.

Uncaring doctors and staff here ! They lie and say you didn't call them to cancel your appointment and make you pay a late fee.. The doctor I was seeing here refused to give me the medicine that I needed she referred me to other doctors and wait thats not it she wrote the doctors name on the back of a receipt and I couldn't even read or understand what the names said she didn't leave phone numbers and she said call them and make an appt and figure out what your going to tell them yourself and as her being a doctor you would think she wouldn't say something like that ! I understand doctors work very hard and have a busy schedule but at least show some damn sympathy sometimes and get your head out your ass !

The psychiatrist here are a joke. You'd be better off talking to a relative or a friend for free. The psychologists and/or nurse practitioners are much better. At least they can prescribe you something that might help. It might not...but don't waist your money on talking to one of their psychiatrist. It's about as helpful as talking to your cat.

Dr Anna Polk isn't even a decent human being much less a decent counselor. She sounded like I was bothering her when I needed to use the after hours emergency line. Then she kicked my husband out in the middle of his session without even a referral to another doctor. Said she couldn't help someone like him and told him she was "done with him". I should have listened to the other comments and avoided this place but instead we wasted 3 weeks with them.

I’m shocked by all the negative reviews. I have only been for one visit but I found the staff friendly and my therapist was wonderful. I have seen enough of them to spot a good one! Please take the negativity with a grain of salt. I’m glad I did!

I have been a patient of Anna Polk's for quite sometime. Her compassion and honesty has helped me through some of the worst and best times of my life. I am a better person because of her. Her knowledge and expertise is astounding. Anna along with Jerry Martin and Dr. Crocker have helped my family heal and overcome some of life's obstacles. I would recommend this practice to anyone who is willing to put in the work it takes to live a healthy, happy life.

Well i am haveing issues with them faxing paper work to trident and when i try to call to fix it the desk women gets real short with me like it was my fault they cant fax a piece paper they should work on there people skills if they wanna work at a mental health clinic. called for a 3rd time and she still got short with me I WILL NOT go back and nether should anyone who reads this

I continue to recommend Summerville Behavioral Health to people in the Summerville and Charleston area even since I have moved. All of the providers care about their patients and giving the best care possible.
