Would not recommend this psychiatry office to anyone. Dr. Kannady was my doctor she always rushed me, judgmental, rude the care plan was nothing more of her asking me the same set of questions that only took 5mins then prescribing medication that did not work for me. Even though I told her what I was prescribed by another psychiatrist that did work. I felt even more nervous talking and being truthful and not hiding the way I truly felt because I felt she was judging. If you don’t like people don’t get a degree working with people! You are not doing anyone any good. I did end up leaving this practice and found a much better place. All around bad place to go if you are looking for help! These people should not be working in this field. Not compassionate, friendly or professional.

Worse dr. Office ever. Can never get a call back could not even talk to dr gaskins because his secretary Teresa refused to let us talk to anyone higher than her. If you like to get the run around and get charged for there mistakes, then come here. This place is disgusting when it comes to the staff

At first, really like this place. Staff was friendly. Then learned it was hard to contact staff with just one phone call. Always have to leave me messages and most time would get return phone call but occasionally would not get called back. After I told my MD that my job was going to fill my position at work bc they could no longer accomodate restrictions since she placed me on 1/2 days was the same day the doctor told me I could return to work without restrictions. Too late for me cuz my position was filled. I would say that surely didnt help me and my condition. Now I cant afford to return. Lovely now jobless more depressed and off worse than when I started. I must say that office staff very friendly in person especially Teressa.

I've gone a few times and after a few visits was told some information that disturbed me a little . I have not had much luck even from the beginning with trying to reach a office staff. One lady(whose name has slipped my mind) has been helpful when I can reach her. All in all this experience has not been Pleasnt!

The office may have had issues in the past with being able to reach Dr. But they have started a new system where you do get a reminder call at least under some providers. The front desk staff is very friendly and have been accommodating when I have called to leave messages for the Doctor, etc. I highly recommend Dr. Fowler and Dr. Kannaday. This is also my opinion after going to this office for at least one year. I would recommend this office to a friend or family member.

I am very surprised at most of these reviews. Perhaps my experience has been unique, but the staff (thanks, Adrian!) has been most helpful, and Dr. Walkup has been attentive and professional during our visits . I can only speak for myself, but I have always been treated well and courteously.

EDIT: I've changed this review from a 4 star to a 1 star. All around, I really can't recommend this office or Dr. Kannady. I didn't feel listened to, I felt judged. I have to say, all the one star reviews were true - I was ready to leave Dr. Kannady solely on the basis of the office staff and inability to reach anyone when I called, then no call back, and no reminders of appointments, etc. I work in a doctor's office and to me their lack of professionalism was especially unsettling. Not to mention the fact that some of their patients may be in quite a fragile mental state, so not being attended to in a proper fashion or timely manner could be quite troubling.... all that being said, there have obviously been some major changes in the office. There is now a friendly voice on the other end almost every time I call and an automated reminder call a week before, and then a couple of days before appointments, with a text reminder the day of - which I love. I am still not 100% happy with the course of treatment I'm on, but I realize it's (I am) a work in progress and it's necessary to be patient with diagnosis and in finding a medicine that works for me. Overall, I give this practice a solid 4 star rating based on the improvements they've made. I hope they keep it up.

Was charged 325 dollars because I was unable to make my appointment. I had to pay this amount before being able to have another appointment made for me. This is an absolute ridiculous fee!!! Things happen in life that you can not control, especially when you have children, to be able to give them a 24 hr cancellation notice. After finally getting an appointment to see a psychiatrist, waiting months for this appointment, how beyond disappointing this was to be treated this way. Be aware of this fee and don't cancel your appointments with this practice!!! I obviously can not afford to pay this,so I now have to start the long process over again of finding someone. Thank you very much Midland Psychiatric Associates!!

Worst Psychiatry office I have ever visited. Not only was the desk staff very rude, but as a person who is very nervous about getting help because I have been through some traumatic situations that tend to be a bit more unique, I have never felt so stigmatized. Dr. Kannaday was immediately judgmental of me in a way other psychiatrists have not been in the past, and it was very uncomfortable and did not feel helpful. She prescribed me medicine that was not meant to help my productivity, but to sedate me, despite that I told her I was actively looking for work. Then, for my trauma, I was told to see a therapist. I picked Roni Caw, as I had met him once and he had told me he had experience living abroad (one of my goals in life). In the few sessions I had with him, he talked over me, would not let me say more than two sentences, and then did an unnerving exercise in which he got closer and closer to me with a hula hoop and then scolded me for not saying it made me nervous (as a victim of sexual abuse, this was NOT what I needed). He told me it was better that I not talk about my experiences, which was the whole reason I came to see him. I really don't want others to have my same experience, or feel like they are beyond help for their problems, so I'd advise to stay away from this place. We are all human, and our problems should never keep us from trying to get the help we need just because they might be varied and diverse

I was sent to this so-called-business by Health insurance "in Network" The web page has lies in it, This group is NOT compassionate! Long story short: I missed one appointment and this sorry excuse of a business charged me $150 and they never called me before OR after the appointment! they waited until my next appointment to tell about the "added balance" This is my first and only missed appointment to any health care provider. This not a business I would ever send a friend or family member that I have concerns for! Nope, never-ever send ANYONE to this place!

I went to this office because 1. They were in network with my insurance and 2. They told me the Dr specialized in my particular issues. I went to my consult which wasnt that bad, besides her prescribing me some me medication and telling me I was to never stop it cold turkey, always make sure I call in for refills ahead of time. Then she referred me to a PHP program as she said I needed to start counseling and the dr there could do my medications faster than she could at that time I was in a desperate situation. So i agreed. I went to the PHP program she told me too where guess what, they dont even deal with people with my issues and after 1 week they told me I was discharged because there was nothing they could do for me. So i called the office back and they referred me to another PHP program. So i went and I did all the classes , saw the dr only twice, and when I called for my medication refill 3 days early. It took them 4 days to get back to me despite me calling them and them saying Dr Kannady had the message on her desk for my refill. Then she called me on the 5th day, I'm completely out of meds now and she says well I thought they were going to prescribe it for you even though I had already told them that the dr said she wouldnt refill that because Dr Kannady was supposed to be doing that medication, she acted like she didnt believe me, and said she had to talk to that dr first before I could have a refill. Finally I got the refill. I was discharged from PHP when I completed the program, and my meds still had not been done. The counselors at the PHP called their office and informed them and told them i needed an appointment asap,I called their office, I called again the next day. They said they would call me back with an appointment later after Dr Kannady reviewed the message. I still havent heard back from this office. Thank God for my PCP who saw me immediately and did what needed to be done with my meds and agreed to help me find another psychiatrist office. I would not recommend this place to anyone who really needs help.

I haven't even gotten past the referral stage, and wondering who runs this place.. The receptionist are terrible and the person who handles referrals is either not there, left early, or has just stepped away from her desk.. And then they have the nerve to say don't leave multiple messages, LoL!!!! Well I wouldn't have to if I could speak to someone in person.

I was referred to Midlands Psych by a friend. Despite the low ratings I saw online, I was willing to give them a chance. When I called Midlands Psych, they asked me to have my records transferred over to the doctor I had wanted to have. It was not until AFTER the psychiatrist reviewed my file that she announced she was only taking post-partum patients. The denial was brilliant, really; however, I was most displeased at the wasted time and money involved. Now I have learned from my friend this specific psychiatrist will no longer be taking insurance. It looks like Midlands Psych did me a favor in the end. My advice in general: do your research and see to it you find doctors who take their calling and the Hippocratic Oath seriously.
