I chose this place because of the reviews, but after going they are better than I expected. I have been to other places, but I wanted someone who would really listen to me and make sure I was on the right medication. Dr. Cantrell takes his time talking with you and has genuine concern for his patients. He offers late hours which is great! My insurance is out of network so I pay out of pocket but it is still worth it because I feel like my old self again.

The doctor(s) is/are sharply focused on building the care plan which best suits the individual. Facility is clean, comfortable, and inviting. I couldn’t recommend a better treatment center.

I have been looking for a psychiatrist in the Charleston/Mount Pleasant area for quite some time now. I thought I found the perfect one at Centerway.. however, as I looked through the Yelp reviews I found out one reason this place is so highly rated. For one, the doctor is obviously very good at what he does.. but clearly very unprofessional from what I saw on Yelp - he was attempting to force a patient to give a high rating and being blatantly rude to her for not leaving 5 stars. It was embarrassing, unprofessional, and I do not wish to seek help from here knowing that this behavior is condoned. I know that she was being truthful because Dr. Cantrell replied to her making up excuses to apologize. All I can say is yikes. In addition, staff is not very friendly over the phone. Thanks anyway, I will be heading somewhere else.

Out of the multiple psychiatrists I've had over the years, none have been as good as Dr. Cantrell. Whereas other doctors had seeked to minimize the impact of my mental health issues, Dr. Cantrell's goal is to make it non-existent. He will actually sit down with you and formulate a plan and always takes your comfortability into consideration. Hands down would recommend this office to anyone.

I've been through so many psychiatrists and tried so many different medications and treatment options, that when I found Centerway, I was on my last attempt to really try to get help. From the initial phone call to the first office visit, the experience was totally different than what I had experienced in the past. They actually heard me and cared. For those of us who have been in treatment for a long time, you know how important and rare it is when your psychiatrist hears and listens! They referred me to the best therapist I've ever had as well. For the first time in 20 years, I have hope that I might, just maybe, improve. And I have the best team surrounding me to get there. If you are new to treatment or an experienced individual like myself, this is the place to go.

Not from the area but I was going through a lot. I decided to see a psychiatrist. Dr Cantrell listened to what I have to say and also gave a little advice that I def needed to hear. After starting a new medication for a few months, I look back and see a big difference with my mental health. I def recommend anyone to go here. I read some reviews and was skeptical but after talking w the dr and nurse practitioner i realized that they both care for my mental health. Most ppl who wrote the bad reviews just didnt get the medications they want LOL. Finding a good psychiatrist is so hard, so I'm happy i found this place!

Dr. Cantrell and his PA Lyn Lipat are wonderful, compassionate mental health professionals. When I first began treatment at Centerway, I was a broken person. Lyn and Dr. Cantrell helped me get into a good headspace through medication and helped me find a wonderful counselor to talk out my problems with. I have never had to wait more than a day or two to get an appointment. Their hours are very accommodating for patients who work full-time because they offer convenient evening appointments.
