Way too often I'm in the waiting area (maybe 10 feet from the windows where you check in at) and I can hear the staff's conversations. Making fun of clients they've just spoken to. They don't try to speak quietly. Extremely rude and unprofessional, especially when they laugh.

Seriously horrible experience. After calling and getting an appointment along with the pre screen they tell us their assessers have left and to basically get some narcan and come back tomorrrow. Very unprofessional and rude. I wouldn’t recommend this place anyone!!

So I decided to come into rehab to over come my addiction I will not say they are mean bc there not they are very nice people willing to help out. But they would not talk to much about how to overcome your drug in a way I kinda felt like they where encouraging the drug of your desire. I also had a problem where I was aloud to go to program n then I wasn't aloud any more when I asked y? No one could give me the answer I felt like that was very unprofessional,

Melissa Sharma

My therapist there was not the least bit supportive. When the stopped taking my insurance for medication visits no one told me. I didn't find out till I started getting bills after the visits. I already had 4 appointments by the time I found out.

I believe that Penn Foundation showed me how to live again. I am going to be celebrating 1 year this month. Penn Foundation saved my lufe!

These people have never tried to understand me, a lot of my counselors would cop an additude with me when I was already there for communication issues. They also put me on lemitzyl I believe and my world fell apart. The staff has never been super friendly or assuring, I wish I could find a good dr. For mental health around here.

Melissa Wallo

Least understanding, least professional, least kind-hearted place I’ve ever come in contact with. The CA’s care and are sweet but the supervisors are just plain rude. Horrible rehab. Horrible staff. Might as well take subs yourself.

Unacceptable. They never answer the phones and if by chance someone does pick up their line, well what you get is a lot of attitude, no desire to provide any help. Your call is an inconvenience to these people. I needed a number for the pharmacy, but the person on the phone told me she worked in a completely different building and had no way to look up the number I needed. What? I work for very large company, offices in multiple states, I can find any person, any department, all on my computer. Fancy that. Oh and the doctors like to make you feel guilty for a missed appointment. The office staff are annoyed if your insurance changes. These people do not care about their patients, it's not about patient care, it's about $$$. Some major changes need to happen at that place. Sad.

You may want to seriously consider going elsewhere for help. All they do here is send you in circles, in the end leaving you with little to no real solutions or help.We are trying to get help for a developmentally, and physically, disabled 55 year old man, who only needs their help towards getting on disability.Instead, he left today with the impression that someone not only barely had the time of day for his mental evaluation, but only wanted to, you guessed it, push pills on him as a quick fix. This cost both him, and of course, his insurance, for this waste of his time and copay(money) in his attempt for help.DO NOT expect much from the Penn Foundation if you chose it.They only want your money.

Excellent staff, very well maintained, good yoga.

My name's Melissa Peterman (maiden name Moore) and I went to PFRC in 2010 for heroin addiction. High, mentally lost, and angry with my parents for giving me an ultimatum-- rehab, or homeless. The rainy Monday morning I agreed for them to take me here was the single best day of my life. I stayed only 4 weeks but in those 4 weeks I met the most amazing people, many of which I still keep in contact with 6 years later, and I learned more about myself in those 4 weeks than I had in 20 years of living. I am 6 years sober this month. 6 years ago this month I made the leap to go to PFRC and finally stop getting high and numbing myself from all emotion. The counselor I was assigned to there, I now forget his name, told me and my parents when I was going to be discharged that it was a huge mistake that I moved to Nashville TN. He told us that I needed to stay in PA with them and continue my sobriety at home. If you're reading this-- I did move to Nashville, I am still in Nashville, I have a husband and a beautiful 3 year old son and I'm a licensed massage therapist and moving to Nashville was not a mistake, but the biggest blessing ever!!!!! Thank you for your concern, but to those out there struggling, reading reviews of this place and wondering if it's the best for them or for their children the answer is yes. And if relocating after you've finished your time at rehab is what you think you need, then do it! Had I stayed in the Philadelphia area, I would be 6 feet under. Relocating to a nicer city where I still did have family (grandparents, aunt and uncle, cousins) was the best idea I have ever had and here I am 6 years later still in love with this place. Thanks to PFRC I am 6 years sober. Thanks to my counselors doubt, though he was great, I am 6 years still in Nashville and still in love with it. I took his doubt that it was a good idea and I ran with it and ultimately I proved to myself that sometimes, taking a big leap, taking a big risk, and relocating is actually the best thing for an addict!!! No bad memories are here, only good. Thank you PFRC, you all saved my life.

this "non-profit' organization sure does charge a lot for a whole lot of nothing. they are dishonest. you get charged 35 dollars for a forgotten appointment that they DON'T remind you of(most places do) if your insurance changes without you knowing they DO NOT let you know BEFORE your appointment. you pay money for Drs who really do nothing to help you when you get there you are treated like a number & unless you are "suicidal" you won't be seen for weeks on end for the first app!

I received a prompt... on-the-day-I-walked-in bio-psycho-social evaluation. It was done in a professional matter. There was a glitch in communication with the Psychiatric NP concerning a med he prescribed me. I take part blame on that. And, to eliminate potential future issues I will be going with genomic testing with another provider. It's odd that Penn Foundation's billing department has never had an encounter with that service. My insurance carrier covers it. Seems like it would help a lot of patients. Other than that, the NP was quite professional and prompt in calling me back with my concern... glitch aside. If I were taking meds, it is awesome to have a working pharmacy in -house. Those people were non-judgmental/professional. The front desk staff have been nothing but helpful. Perhaps, because I approach them that way. Most of my calls have been returned. Although, some got lost in the wind. When I missed a (3) part financial session, they left information concerning that at the front desk for me. The recovery outpatient center was helpful regarding an on-sight DRA group. What I've been most impressed with is my recovery coach. When I needed inpatient several weeks back, an on-call recovery coach met with me at Grand View and stayed for a couple of hours. And, my actual coach really puts others from another facility to shame. As of 7/14/2017: I have ventured into the land of Yoga. I really appreciate it's open to all clients. Also appreciate my insurance or lack of.... or 'wrong' diagnosis doesn't come into play. I will be attending on a regular basis. Enjoyed being with other people and not solely because of what's wrong with me. As of 8/10/2017: I'm not sure the reason Penn got rid of their partial program for mental health only consumers.... and I surely understand the need for a D/A only one. I really do. But, you aren't serving your entire community by leaving a large portion out of the mix. Not a partial or IOP. Groups geared specifically for either a D/A Diagnosis.... OR... for only those with a set insurance. There is a huge gap between psychiatric inpatient (at another facility obviously) and Wellsprings. We aren't all ready to set job-related goals; especially, if we are discharged from inpatient. People like me, are apparently channeled all back to your already overwhelmed competitor LVF. Unless you want to travel by train and bus to the city. Or get into Horsham. Your community doesn't just stop at county dividing lines. I live in Chalfont. Which is a few minutes away from Hilltown Township. Catchment areas are How Bucks decides to divide itself. Into three sections, for people like me to be funneled to appropriate OR NOT agencies for case management. NOR does it end at drug and alcohol issues. Or your current cause of Autism. All of those issues are in the same book. It doesn't say the Diagnostic Statistical Manual of the most important mental illnesses nor does it exclude addiction. It's all in the brain. So, while you continue to expand services for those with D/A issues.... people are still suffering and staggering through the mental health system. We may not be dying from Heroin but we are still here. And many are likely still dying.

My experience has been very positive. My therapist and doctor are empathetic and competent, with helpful staff & flexible appointment scheduling.

Been to quite a few other facility's similar as this one. This one is by far the best I've been to. Very clean and excellent staff. You are treated as an adult and not as a child like most places.

Not the worst place I've ever been to, but I would avoid if possible. After spending over a day at Gaudenzia getting assessed, I called Penn Foundation and acquired a bed on my own because we all know how useless Gaudenzia is. Anyway, when I arrived at PF I had already been sick for over 24 hours and was not informed until after starting the intake process that I would not be dosed until 530 the next night. I was in full blown withdrawal from IV fentanyl use for 52 hours before I was treated. I was told I could leave, but was too sick to physically move at that point. The building was clean and the beds were comfortable, which is appreciated when you are detoxing in them for days on end. The taper was one of the most uncomfortable I've ever experienced. By the time I received my first subutex dose I was so sick it barely took the edge off and by the grace of god I didn't throw it up. They only dose you once a night, tapering down each night. I have no idea why they would dose someone at night because by the time you feel even remotely human again you are being told to go to bed, and by the time you wake up you are feeling sick again. They offer almost no comfort meds or sleep aids, and I don't even take sleep meds, but I know they help other people with the insomnia. The taper was so insufficient and drawn out you were in a constant state of discomfort that is not necessary. I have done a short 3 day upwards taper at Keystone and was able to attend groups by the third day. PF's taper was 7 days and I still felt sick 2 days after I was off the subutex. I'm not one to eat much during detox and rehab but they all but starve you at this place. The portions weren't sizable enough to satiate a toddler and they often ran out of meals before everyone was fed. The food was brought over from GVH the night before and was gross. I'm not looking for gourmet meals here, but for upwards of 550 a day edible food would be appreciated. I didn't even eat my last 2 days there because I couldn't stomach the food anymore and after subsisting off of PBJ and cheerios every single day for every meal the thought of eating any more was nauseating. Most of the staff was nice and seemed willing to help but the groups were pretty much recycled nonsense, generic articles on relapse or the 12 steps googled by the counselors and printed out to be discussed for 45 minutes. The boredom and cravings to use were so intense a few days in, art therapy or music therapy would have been a nice change of pace. I felt like a mouse trapped in a cage and everyday was groundhogs day. Eat, smoke, pointless group, etc., etc. I was told I saw a psychiatrist but have absolutely no recollection of it. Opiate withdrawal doesn't cause memory loss, so something was definitely fishy there. My mental health was never addressed. My depression and cravings got so bad I didn't eat or get out of bed for 2 days and was told that I would be discharged and dropped off at a train station the next day for lack of participation in groups. At that point I was so fed up I didn't put up a fight. All in all, I would not recommend this place unless you are ready to go through an extremely uncomfortable detox you could do on your own at home.

It depends on which person you see her. Some ppl are great at their jobs. Than again some of them suck at it. However you get that every where. It's not like it was years ago, Dr's have no bedside matter now. They do charge too much if you don't have good insurance though.

Penn foundation was the reason I had 4 years sober after attending in 2010. I went there this past week and it is the worst facility I have ever attended. Dirty, very few employees, food so terrible that staff was forced to order pizza. If you get stuck in Detox, do not expect to move to the rehab wing until 2 weeks later. Too many patients and not enough care or space.

Don't expect staff to be anything but rude. Front desk staff always act as though they are too busy and put off by any questions despite the fact that we have never been there during a time when I have seen a line. We had one staff member cracking her gum and getting increasingly frustrated over her inability to figure out how to enter info into their system. Isn't that your job? Thankfully a more capable staff member stepped in. We have been waiting two weeks now for preauthorization for a family members' script and still have not heard anything despite numerous calls and messages to which you are promised you will receive an answer within 48 hours. My advice is to chose another facility. The doctors are perfectly nice but the staff is severely lacking.

Wow. Reading all the rise complaints is amazing. People mad that they couldn't get suddafed, lol complaining like they checked into a five five star hotel and didn't have their coat taken off for them. I love how entitled addicts can be. Anyway, you will find what you are looking for. If you seek something wrong and malice you will surely find it; summarily if you seek a new perspective and new ways of living you will find it. This facility will detox you get generously and help find a path to walk when you leave. The choice is yours on what you find and how you live life afterward. Good luck and may God light shine through you where ever you may walk.

Most of the ladies at the front are pretty good, but the women who operates the very first check out window usually has an attitude. She occupies an area with a sign that says "check in/out", but mumbles under her breathe when you go to her that it's "not what shes there for." Meanwhile the ladies at the other windows are like "why didn't you go to the first window?". She's very unprofessional. I also had to speak to her on the phone when some medication I was taking for anxiety wasn't working. She couldn't believe that I was calling in, because I started the medication just two days ago. I tried to explain to her that it's not like an SSRI and doesn't have an accumulative effect, but I think my answer went beyond her. I'm not saying she should be fired, but she should be kept in the back. I would give 100 stars for Tobey Schilling who is a Nurse Practitioner there who is very thorough and extremely confident. She comes off as a true professional and someone who cares. It's a shame the the front desk can't be said to have the same standards of care.

Not helping my daughter who is homeless find housing while in recovery center. Thought they would have run into situations like this before especially with recovering addicts. Nothing there except sending to a different treatment facility

venus5743 .

My husbands psychiatrist is horrible. He suffers from severe insomnia. She wouldn’t even bother to listen to us asking for help. She spent about 5 minutes with us when it was a 40 minute appointment. She just kept saying there was nothing she could do. Seriously? Why did ou become a DOCTOR if you don’t want to at least try to help people?

Web page is good.

this place is an awful money scam, they held me for 30 weekly appointments ! I had no drugs in my system so they put me in for marijuana addiction! hah like that even exists, these people are nazis but worse because what they do actually affects my life. I really hope they all get ebola after how much money they took from me

Jennifer Petrucelli

Have been a client for around 10-15 years. Recently did not follow up in time so they discharged me without notice. They are no longer accepting new or return clients. They really don't give a damn about the people they CLAIM TO HELP! Avoid if at all possible.
