My wife was referred to Dr. Vraciu through her counselor. The counselor had very high praises for Dr. Vraciu. When I called to schedule, I spoke with Christine and my wife was scheduled to meet with the nurse practitioner, Kristin Hiltner.
Prior to my wife's appointment, there were a series of events that took place which did not go well and left us with serious questions regarding the willingness to help others of the providers at this practice. At that time, I wrote a review detailing the entire experience.
Within a couple weeks of writing the review, I was contacted directly by Kristin Hiltner so she could explain her side regarding the previous events that took place. After speaking with Kristin, I chose to remove my original review and replace it with this review.
I have always believed you can tell more about the character of an organization when things go wrong then when everything goes perfect. After speaking with Kristin, I was left with the opinion that caring for their patients is important to them. I believe my initial experience was influenced much more by the person scheduling their appointments than the actual providers themselves.
They do have one policy that still doesn't make the most sense to me regarding Xanax. They do not prescribe Xanax which is fine. It is my understanding, however, that if you are currently taking Xanax, they require you to stop taking it six months prior to being able to schedule an appointment with them. In our situation, my wife had no problem with not taking Xanax, but she really needs help now with the brain chemistry balance issues she is having.
After speaking with Kristin Hiltner, she sounds like a person I would have liked to have as my wife's psychiatrist, but the policy they have regarding Xanax will most likely prevent that from happening.
