READ EDIT BELOW THIS IS WHY I REMOVED ONE OF THE STARS. I'm giving two stars for two reasons. A). They corrected their mistake. B). St. Elizabeth ER in Edgewood KY is also to blame. My grandmother was taken to the ER due to Alzheimer's and a broken arm, she could not rest at home and needed full time care. We had organized a room at a nursing home, but she needed a medical recommendation before they could accept her. Our family left her in the ER at 10:30 pm as I had been awake with her for over 36 hours care taking. Before leaving St. Elizabeth, my brother spoke to an ER nurse who said they would admit my grandmother as soon as a bed opened. He asked what would happen if a bed didn't open that night and she said they would keep her in the ER. At 1:30am I was awoken by "Beth from Assurance" letting me know she was there to evaluate my grandmother. I gave her the information I had regarding her recent condition. She asked if I was POA to which I told her no, my mother was POA and I explained I'm the person who speaks to the doctors as my mother has trouble relaying medical terms to the family. She evaluated my grandmother then woke me again at 4am telling me my grandmother had to be transferred to a psychiatric hospital in Wilmington OH. I woke at 7am, realizing what had happened and immediately began calling Beth back to find out if she spoke to my mother (POA) and she claimed I called my mother "demented and unable to be POA". That's a total lie. She also claimed to have tried calling my mother but could not procure the number she tried and there was no missed call on my mothers caller ID....another lie from Beth. As soon as I called her supervisor Melinda, Melinda admitted to multiple mistakes on their part and they returned my Grandmother to her nursing home. However, the summary is that this agency took a 91 year old woman with Alzheimer's and a broken arm 100 miles away from her family without consent in the middle of the night. They tried to keep her for 7-14 days. I wouldn't let these people near my dog. If they call you regarding a loved ones care, DO NOT AGREE TO SPEAK TO THEM. Beth was overzealous and aggressive and even told me "well the hospital just wants us to get those types of people out of there". BEWARE. EDIT READ THIS: GOOGLE THE NAMES OF PEOPLE LEAVING POSITIVE REVIEWS. THEY ARE EMPLOYEES NOT FAMILY OR PATIENTS. URSULA TIERNEY I GOOGLED YOU.

Would not recommend. My aunt's health deteriorated while there. She went in able to walk with a walker and left wheelchair bound and lost her interest in food while there. Unfortunately that continued after she left and died about two months later. It seemed like no one knew much about my aunt's treatment due to lack of communication. Also,it is very hard to have a private visit with your loved one.

NO STARS! This place has damn near killed my father! Do not send anyone here! The communication is awful! The doctors have no idea what they are doing! My father was walking, talking, eating, when he went in and now is incoherent and hospitalized and not eating or drinking and I fear for his life! They TRAUMATIZED HIM THERE! DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!!!

My wife and I struggled with the idea of sending my mom to a psychiatric hospital at first. We were pleasantly surprised with Assurance Health. The nurses were friendly, she participated in several activities and the place was clean. We are beyond thankful for Dr. Schneider and the medication changes he initiated for Mom. She was able to discharge to Assisted Living instead of returning to the nursing facility due to her improvement in her quality of life. Our family is so happy to see Mom doing so well. So glad she is more like herself.

The nurse who assessed my mom was amazing and provided us so many resources. My mom got excellent care while at this hospital and I would definitely recommend this facility to other families going through similar experiences.

My brother was here last month and has been doing great since returning home. He was so depressed, he could not function. Although he has dealt with mental illness most of his adult life, we were very scared for his life as he would not eat, sleep, bathe or let anyone help him with anything. We heard about this hospital after we took him to the emergency room and after spending 13 days at Assurance Health, he came back home and once again is able to care for himself and live his life.

The care of this facility was very poor and left my father in worse shape than when he entered what lead to his rapid decline and passing he left the facility with his foot black with sores from improper care never telling us what was going on and hiding this from us they treat your loved ones like prison inmates and limit your contact with your love ones place is a joke

Overall the majority of the staff were excellent and our loved one got the correct regimen of medications for dementia. We only had one bad experience with staff. Allison Corporate Director of Human Services, was rude inconsiderate of patient and family. Lack of communication and compassion. When our loved one left, they did not send all of her belongings that went there with her (with her name on them). In fact, she was sent home in someone else’s clothing.

I'd give negative stars If I could. I can not say what happened in this facility. But I do know my grandfather was sent there for evaluation and medication adjustment (alzheimers), it seemed on the up and up on face value...but he came home with contusions on both sides of his head. Bed sores. Unable to walk or eat...and had lost a significant amount of weight. Over the course of two weeks. A man who spent his time walking around bothering the nursing staff and talking them up came home unable to talk and wheel chair bound. the official story is he "fell" - perhaps that works once but not twice. He had (has) multiiple contusions...and BED SORES how do you explain that? His staff at the home here were saddened and appalled and the family has been left with many questions...stay away from this place. We sent a walking and active man there and when we finally got him home he was a shell of who he was. they should be ashamed. These are people's loved ones. They should be treated as treasure. We wouldn't allow daycares or childcare centers to do our children this way...its a shame there are so few laws protecting our elderly. I tried to post with zero stars. I wasn't able to.

The psychiatric needs in Cincinnati is continuously growing. Assurance has made an outstanding commitment to this community. They have clinical staff that come onsite to assess your loved one!! The onboarding experience for this facility is highly appreciated and recognized!!

This place is horrible. I would really think twice about putting a loved one in this hole. They lie to you and make you think that you are doing the best for your loved one when in fact it will be the worse mistake of your and there life. When my mother went in she she was in better shape than when I took her out. She can no longer walk or hold her own weight to stand. I'm not sure what they give the patients there but they stay out of it almost a drunken state. I would not even give this place one star. When one of the staff found out that I was taken my mother out she looked at me and said run don't bring her back you know something is wrong. This place needs to be closed.

This is a horrible horrible place please for the love of God do not put your loved ones here my father went in for three weeks at this place with dementia he came out he was a basket case he was much better before he went in I don't know what kind of drugs they feed these patients but it's messed with his head and now we're praying to God we can get his head straightened out I wouldn't even give this place one star but I didn't have the option to give it zero stars or anything negative please if you love your family don't put them in this place.

Don’t allow your loved one to be sent there. My Mom was a mess when she came back from there and was barely talking. My Dad went there in good physical condition and came back with pneumonia and a terrible sore on his back the had previously healed and nothing changed with his behavioral issues. I regret allowing them to go there.

Tamara Walker

Assurance Health should not be a Medicare certified hospital. The care received was very poor. The family of the patient was never contacted by a doctor or nurse. There was never a doctor available to speak to, there was never a doctor there when the family asked to speak to a doctor. The social worker Melissa was non-caring and a horrible representative of the social work profession. Don't admit your loved one to this facility.

Tyreeka Mann

I would not ever put a loved one there because the whole staff is incompetent! They should check the credentials of every staff member that is hired within that company (especially Cincinnati) and their job title and what they do actually! You have people doing the doctors work! The management doesn’t take nothing serious! I only worked there for 3 months and that’s a place for anyone to loose their license!! The CEO does not have credentials to even be doing the CEO job! The HR girl doesn’t even have credentials to be doing the HR job. They let just anyone draw the lab work on the patients! Ohh and they hire just anyone! They don’t stop the patients from the 1000 falls I saw in which should be neglect cases! They do not do back ground checks on new employees. You have the whole group that is not state tested in a Geri-psych hospital! Registered nurses give wrong patients medications and nothing gets done about it! They don’t even do competencies with staff and when they do, it’s another CNA or STNA that does that! Not even annual Alzheimer’s training as they do in other places! (STATE, PLEASE TAKE THIS SERIOUS AND CHECK THEM OUT)

Loreal carter

Don’t work there i have contacted state they will be shut down soon. I have proof they let regular employees that work in the office draw blood from residents. They also falsely do paperwork which a nurse quit because of it good day.

Cathy Taflinger

Absolutely horrible experience @ this facility. Lack of communication between staff, nurses, social worker & doctor. Discharge of my dad was nothing but a heartless experience. This facility deserves a half star if that was possible to leave. I don't recommend this facility to anyone!!
