I’ve been hospitalized 5 times prior to going there and nowhere has been as bad as this place. They are very low on staff... well when they decide to show up, and when I was there one of the staff people threw up in a kids hygene bin. Very minimal therapy, no one on ones. They Sedate kids like it’s nothing just so they don’t have to deal with them. Very rude staff. Felt more like a juvi than a hospital. They fail to inform your parents on anything and when it comes to discharge they just kinda shove you out the door, no discharge meeting or anything... needless to say when I got home I was still suicidal.

My sister was sent to this institution for a five day evaluation after presenting to her local emergency room as suicidal and out of control (she's been in the ER several times for the same issue). After just two days in this facility, she managed to coerce the staff into discharging her back into her life and went home. She's still suicidal, and will likely end her life soon. This facility did nothing to help her. They did not do a proper evaluation, and they released her. My sister will likely end her life soon, and in part we have this institution and it's substandard care to thank for this. If you have a loved one who needs emotional or mental care, look elsewhere. I'd give this place a zero, but that isn't an option.

This place should be shut down. My husband had to be here twice I wouldn't send my worse enemy here. They almost killed him by overdose him on a med. The good staff they had who actually cared and correctly did there jobs where let go. Lots of HIPPA volitions, medication errors..... When they should cally the patients loved ones who have a signed release they don't. Could keep going but I won't. But please look for a second option before sending your loved one here.

Since meridian took over the clinic doctors and therapists aren't allowed to write medical exemption letters, work exemption letters, send information to social security for disability claims or even for transportation needs for the disabled, etc. They are implementing policies that coincide with what Trump wants. To hurt the poor, who are the ones in most need of doctors notes. When I told the nurse my concerns regarding these new policies she was patronizing and laughed at me. The owners just want to take your money. I've spent 4 years getting psychiatric help and psychotherapy from them and now my treatment was all for nothing. I have to switch clinics; doctor and therapist, in order to have all my needs met. This is cruel and absolutely negligent. The owners don't care about you. They are scum.

Would rate 0 stars if possible. Patients are denied 1-on-1 counseling, basic hygiene, and simple human rights. The staff lacks communication and, save 2 individuals, very rude. I was just another number, they did not care about me getting better at all.

I was there for five days for Suicide Ideation, and have a new definition of hell on earth. Sent their because there was an overflow at Altru, which I admit I was fine with. Spent about three minutes a day talking to the doctor about medications, and never had any one-on-ones. The only offer was group therapy, and the only subject that we covered was self-esteem. If a simple conversation about self-esteem could have fixed my depression, I wouldn't have been there in the first place. I never talked to a social worker, and when I was trying to clarify the Check Out Process, one of the day nurses told me that she couldn't predict the future. The night staff wasn't bad, and quite a few of the nurses were aware that this wasn't a productive facility, but that didn't make the stay any better. We were allowed into the gym once, but all they had was a trashcan full half-inflated balls. There was the possibility of an outbreak of skin disease on the Friday while I was there, but no one bothered to contact the CDC until Monday when a doctor ordered it. It wasn't helpful in anyway, and on top of all that they lost one of my favorite t-shirts.

I wish I could give them 0 stars! Rude, disrespectful, and careless when it comes to family members of mental health patients. I wouldn’t want ANY of my friends or family members to go here.

If you have loved ones in this facility, GET THEM OUT NOW! Find another healthcare facility because this place is terrible! As far as therapy and medical help, they do not offer one on one therapy sessions, a patient is lucky to get a few minutes with a doctor. The doctor assigned to me did not try to find the right medications for me. And group therapy consisted of coloring and various other art projects that would have been appropriate for a group of elementary students. With the exception of a few nurses, Penny and Courtney, everyone else is rude and bitter. They have zero compassion and act as though the patients are an inconvenience and treat them with no respect or dignity. As far as the facility itself...it's not sanitary. Patients are not given hand soap or towels to use after going to the bathroom. In my case I had my parents bring me extra clothing, but I was the only patient that had that luxury. Everyone else had to stay in the clothes they were wearing when admitted or wear paper thin, see through, hospital scrubs. Not wanting to show off their genitals to the entire place, more people decide to remain in their own dirty clothing. A gym and outdoor area were available for patients to use however, staff did not allow patients to use it. I could go on and on about the mistreatment of patients and the awfulness of this facility but that would result in a book. Overall, Red River Behavioral Health System is a sad excuse for a healthcare facility and I would not recommend it to even my worst enemy.

I give zero stars but you can't do that to leave a review. These people are straight-up evil they don't care about the residents. There's a specific staff that power trips on the residents. The management will do nothing about it. I spoke to the doctor while my son was there and he told me about a nurse lying and false documented on my son. . I heard on the phone while talking to my son a male staff member yelling at my son. My son called me to tell me what they were doing to him. They keep the residents drugged up on Haldol and Ativan so they don't have to deal with them and do their jobs. And they do this while they're supposed to be doing an evaluation how can you do an evaluation when they're so drugged up you can't even see their behaviors. This place needs to be shut down. It needs to be investigated and shut down. Numerous violations of patients bill of rights. I want my son moved. I feel so helpless right now.

I only give it a 1 to leave the comment. My wife needed help getting her meds figured out. She went here even after reading the reviews. This place is garbage. They dont listen to patients they dont have soap for patients to use, they dont let u have clean clothes, or takes a long time to get u new clothes, they dont allow showering. The doctor literally said " I will see u once every other day for 10 mins, other wise u just sit here and do nothing. They have group time scheduled but they dont do groups. And some people have been here for a month with no help, no holds, no court order, she just sits there waiting away so they can get a pay check.

Great staff that's compassionate and care about your well-being. Yeah the beds aren't the greatest, but it sure beats a cement slab or cot in jail.

I recently completed OT observation hours here for OT school. This psychiatric hospital is very well secured with plenty of locked doors. I witnessed that a lot of the patients simply want someone to listen to as they talk about their life. Many patients did this with me while I was there because they probably knew I was going to listen to them. The scheduled groups are good for socializing and learning, but I think what these patients need is scheduled one-on-one's with a healthcare professional. It is human nature to have a desire of wanting to talk about what is going on in your life, and that is ultimately what these patients need to help their mental state.

I didn’t get the help I needed here. The food was so terrible I lost at least 2 pounds in a matter of 4 days. They didn’t even attempt to get to know me let alone try to figure out what was going on in my head. They were so dumb I manipulated my way out of there by faking a smile on my face and telling them what they wanted to hear. Needless to say, I ended up trying to take my life a few months later yet again. Altru definitely helped me way more than these people did. My parents honestly deserve a refund. My mental state was worse than before after I got out of this place. I am writing this review in a great state of mind now (thanks to altru).

Do not do business with this company , never pays their bills Highway Robbery

I was personally a patient there. They take you and discharge you without any consideration of follow up care. The Dr. wouldn't even give me a referral. I am asking for help and care and he wouldn't take the time to make a phone call for me. Group therapy is all they offer; no one on one. They treat you like a child and give you puzzles and crayons in your down time. Really? Thanks for all the help...place is a joke.

Eric Pederson

I was in the C wing and I was so disappointed with nearly no treatment over several days.

Courtney

once i got there it felt like everything was ripped away, i was isolated, tired, and incredibly homesick. you are not treated as a person but as a project. the second i left the building to go home i felt worse than ever. for the next two weeks after my return i couldn’t stop panicking, i was crying every day and every night. my panic attacks have been less often but i still get them from thinking about red river. red river has caused yet another trigger for me. if you can go anywhere else please do, this place will absolutely destroy you mentally. there is horrible supervision, rude staff, not enough meals, and you will not be looked after.

Thomas Holtz

The nurses beat on patients and dont care about them they give out the wrong medication and threaten to hurt patients if anything they hurt more people than they help

Evan Larson

I was there for a week recently. The rooms were cold, the entry area alternated between cold and warm, it is under staffed, and now that I am out I found out my insurance will not even cover my medication. I have nothing against the staff, but there is definitely room for improvement.

Avoid this place at all costs. It's meridian. 3500 per person a night, what some fancy cheese sticks n saltine crackers we eat. And that padded bed tho, as well as zero couches in the unit, but the others n the lobby you walk pass to get on the unit haha, some nazis man. This place isn't to help, it's a big business and if i may add, corrupted. For 3500 a night you'd figure you would be able to do one on ones and many structural groups throughout the day, but no, a lot of ditzy fresh college people work there with zero knowledge on what they're doing half the time. Same with the Oakridge treatment facility in Rochester. My advice, avoid all merdian based facilities at all cost. Worst 8 days of my life, when they were only legally able to keep me for 3.. would not let me take a shower for the first 4 days and the bathroom i used was not cleaned once from the 8 days there, just empting the trash everyday is what they did.

Hanska Burris

They are aweful to family members, nurses are very judgmental, they assaulted a family member in there. A lawyer will be hearing from us! They treat patients that have mental illness as less than a person. I know because I’m a nurse myself. Do NOT send your family members there. They deserve NO stars!
