REVIEWS OF The Ringer Center IN North Carolina

Valerie Lynne

Overall I was happy with the help I received from the people that worked there. I am not comfortable giving the "Ringer Center" itself any credit for it though. Stephen Ringer should seek services himself as well as tutorials on how to speak to people and treat them after 4 years and losing health insurance. If your therapist still wants to see you, trust they know what their doing and find a way- longer everyone else there tried.

I love this place! It is so inviting and the people at the front desk have become like family to me. I have been in counseling at other places in Greensboro and also in Los Angeles and The Ringer Center is my favorite. Mr. Ringer has helped me change my life and I owe alot to him and the other counselors here. I would and do recommend them to others. Any negative reviews seem to be written by possibly mentally unstable people who just needed someone or something to vent at. My experience is that if you are honestly seeking help they will do everything they can for you.

This is the first place that I've been to in the last15 years that have made me understand what I'm going through this place really listen to you thanks so much so looking forward to working with you

My overall experience with the Ringer Center has been great. The counselors and Dr. Sena have been nothing but helpful and accommodating. However, the professional staff needs to educate the front office staff as in the last month or so they have become increasingly rude and ill-mannered. This is a very disheartening trait for the front desk people to have as they are the first point of contact for the Ringer Center. I think it is important for them to realize and keep in mind the type of individuals they are servicing. If you are considering The Ringer Center please do not let the rudeness of the front office staff deter you from the other great professionals working there. Now, I must be fair and state that not all of the front desk individuals are impolite but I have never left a review for any place of business and felt the need to do so now because it is getting worse. Perhaps, the receptionists are over-worked or going through their own personal situations but it does not give them the right to make the patients feel worthless. I hope the owner or members of the staff are able to read this review and educate their employees.

I have been treated at the ringer center for many years now. The staff is competent and caring and have done everything they can to help me. The owner Stephen Ringer is a very understanding individual and the doctors and therapists that work there are all top notch. I have required treatment since I was 15 and now nearly 20 years later I'm happy to know I am in good hands with the Ringer Center.

My experience was OK. I think Stephen is burnt out. He can be very condescending. I'm all for tough love in a situation like this but sometimes, he was just plain hurtful. The content of my IOP was great; very thorough with the disease concept, the obsession of the mind, the craving of the body and the fact that you're not a bad person because you've had a hard time quitting. That said, once you have the tools, you must use them and they are more than generous in giving you all the help you need in that regard. Don is great, Valerie is great and Sami is great as far as front desk staff. Dr. Sena has zero sense of humor and can be super condescending as well. You may want to consider Fellowship Hall instead but DO NOT DELAY in your decision.

Terrible service constantly losing your paper work and blame you for it. I would suggest goining to Al_Con they are much more friendly and care about helping people not just making money

I am writing to share my recent experience with the Ringer Center, and particularly Stephen Ringer. I fully expected a nightmare experience trying to find a provider in NC, as well as finding one in VA to help me clear up an offense that happened almost 12 years ago. I contacted the Ringer Center, and after explaining my situation, Stephen provided me with step by step instructions on how to complete the requirements, and this included Stephen working and coordinating with an out of state provider. He was patient, provided on the spot responses, and provided extremely valuable service. I recommend the Ringer Center to anyone seeking sincere help; trust me, you will not be disappointed.

After more than two decades of struggling with spells of depression/anxiety, I was referred here by my doctor. Beth and Dr. Sena have helped me get back on track and in a healthier mental place. I am so grateful to have such a caring, invested team. However, I'm glad I didn't read the reviews before going here (my doctor's know me well and I trusted their recommendation)...the owner responses to the negative reviews are kind of off-putting and seem unprofessional. Don't let those come across as an indicator of the care you will receive from the counselors and psychiatrist.

I would just like to take a moment and thank the staff at the Ringer Center for helping me and my family during a difficult time. The weekly sessions were helpful and insightful. I appreciate Steven and Valerie especially for demonstrating patience and guidance. Thank you for all you do and the good works you continue to perform daily!

I had a horrible experience. This place is run by one guy,Stephen Ringer, the owner. This guy has a horrible attitude!! I'm a new mom of twin girls and was seeking out help with an alcohol problem from a dui in 2011. i've been sober now for almost a year with a couple of relapses. The only way i can do it is by having a great support system and staying in AA. I just recently moved and had to enroll in a new treatment center. My point is that after opening up to this man for an hour in my accesment. That next week, He called my home phone and asked me if i had figured out my transportation issue.. As I can't drive I must use public transportation. I said yes I was going to be starting monday.. I had also forgotten to tell him that I would be bringing my 5 month old girls because they were too young for daycare right now. They were born with ttts and were two months premature. When i mentioned it..He yelled and spoke to me like I was a complete idiot saying " YOU CAN'T BRING YOUR CHILDREN, WE DON'T OFFER CHILDCARE!!" I said i was just asking i didn't know?? Why are you yellling at me? He Then ignored me and said " GOODBYE ASHLEY" and hung up in my face!!! After it sunk in.. I was soo upset I called my sponsor crying. Save yourself the money, time and heartache.. I think the guy is a "dry drunk" if you have ever heard of this term. You won't find any recovery at this place. Thanks for letting me share!!

Stay away. It’s all about the money.

The lady who answered the phone when I called was very polite and got me scheduled for an appointment. I came in and there were several people in line ahead of me, but it only took a couple minutes to get to the counter. They accepted my BCBS insurance and I only had to pay a co-pay. They took me to a back room, and I filled out the paperwork for a substance abuse assessment. You could only pick true or false on many of the assessment questions, and I felt that it oversimplified the some of the more complex questions as I feel little in life is black or white. I have only had one assessment previously, and that over 10 years ago, but I think i remember a similar test, so it's probably the standard that everyone uses. After the test, I met with Stephen Ringer in another office. The exam seemed more like a discussion than a test, which made me feel comfortable to talk with him. It was obvious from the start that he was very knowledgeable about a wide array of subjects and spoke candidacy at times regarding my situation. After the conclusion, he stated that he would need to type up the assessment, and I didn't expect to get it for a day or two. It was faxed to me (3x actually...lol) within about an hour. I did not meet with any of the other Doctors/Therapists so I cannot comment on them, but I left with a favorable impression of Mr. Ringer, the staff, and the Center.

Wonderful, patient, and the staff is very respectful, and all my appointments I've never had to wait longer than 1 minute, i would recommend this facility to everyone! ! Thanks Mr. Ringer especially! !!

I went to this establishment when my mental health was severely struggling. The complete disregard and lack of compassion for individuals struggling with their mental health at this establishment is disgusting! The owner, Mr. Ringer, seems to have become desensitized to those who are gravely struggling with their mental health. I would HIGHLY recommend finding another doctor. A doctor that thoroughly cares about your mental health and not just the dollars and cents.

Whomever hSh discraced or spoken poorly of this center needs to evaluate their own selves. I have been to many places snd this place meets all of my needs and then some. I appreciate that Steve and Don both understand others with addiction and know how not only to help, but still they also have many resources.

I cannot say enough how wonderful and professional the Ringer Center is. I received a DUI in a different state roughly 1.5yrs ago and had issues with an educator in a neighboring town that initially performed my DUI Assessment and educational classes. I was blown away when meeting with Mr. Ringer at how helpful and on top of things they all were. In comparison it is easy to see the staff is warm, welcoming, and non judgemental of their customers. Also, the classes are truly intended to help people recover and become sober. I must also say there were times when dealing with my probation officer (being in another state), the officer had confusion and Mr. Ringer offered to be part of a conference in hopes to eliminate confusion but to prevent issues of my probation. I cannot say enough about how wonderful and genuinely compassionate these people are.

Very accommodating. Friendly counselors who have struggled with mental illnesses just like the clients.

I called to possibly make an appointment for counceling and asked if they accepted Medicaid. In response, the woman on the phone explain it is accepted for individual counseling ( which is what I was seeking) but not for their intensive out patient program which is for substance abuse. I said that I am actually in a Suboxone program and was answered with - they don't treat typically do counceling for suboxone patients and that they would treat me once I tapered off (because after she said they do not offer the counceling svcs for ppl on suboxone I explained I am being tapered off). Part of reaching the point of absolute sobriety is working toward and obtaining some semblance of stable mental wellness. Perhaps it was to push me toward transfering my dependancy treatment over to their practice but I truly feel it should not be mandated. The doctor who is conducting my suboxone treatment is wonderful and I trust her - wanting to maintain that shouldn't be an issue. I recently made it out of a catastrophic domestic abuse situation after having my back broken and sadly, that doesn't begin to scratch the surface of the two and a half year torment that took place. That sitiation was also where my dependency made birth. I was looking for counseling for those issues as I am being tapered off elsewhere to procure the full scope of treatment. The woman who answered and unveiled this information made a terrible impression based on general attitude and insensitivity. It came across belittling, unconcerned and gave me the idea that "mental health" is not the #1 priority of the practice.

As a child I came here for visits for my mentally ill mother while in foster care, now as a adult I returned for help with my mentally ill mother because she’s at her lowest point homeless, hearing voices, violent, angry, and over all unkept because she’s in control of her own financial situation which shouldn’t be. So I’m stepping up trying to be her guardian and I reached out here for a statement or letter or anything that could help me on this hard road. They wouldn’t return my calls, wouldn’t speak with me after my initial visit, and overall was unkind about my whole situation even though they a open file on her. I came with proof my birth certificate, a card from social security which they made a copy of, and check stubs to show I’m independent. Still no help I WOULDNT BRING ANYONE HERE, THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO HELP THE MENTALLY ILL NOT JUST LEAVE THEM TO ROT, people beware and even if they couldn’t do one thing to help me they could’ve gave me a reason why in letter form so I could show proof that I’m actually trying. Horrible place *** Update *** I never called them after this post nor have I at any point threaten anyone at the establishment AND I HAVE SAVED MY CALL LOG TO PROVE IT & I promise you guys they can’t prove it against me, I was simply seeking help for my mother. ALL OF THIS IS ABOUT HELPING MY MOTHER, when your client from years ago to current is at a all time low your supposed to want to help and show integrity, empathy, understanding especially in my situation I would expect some type of compassion and moral compass, where’s your heart ?? where’s the wholistic care?? Like I said previously even if they couldn’t do one thing to help me they could at least gave a statement why not, in letter form to be helpful in assisting my mother a mentally ill woman whose health is deteriorating. I’m at a lost of words for the disrespectful reply I’m disgusted with these people I’ll help my mother no matter what I hope this helps anyone seeking answers from this place about a spouse or loved one you’ll see it’s a useless cause.

I am about to celebrate 11 years drug and alcohol free and 5 years smoke/nicotine free thanks to the loving, diligent, and strong ethical guidance of Stephen and Robin and the staff at the Ringer Center. They are majorly responsible for my recovery. I am alive and thriving with my own business and home thanks to my sobriety . I tried getting sober in the past but it took this wonderful method of caring followed with meetings to bring me to success . Thank you so much my dear friends . I love you more then you will ever know !
