If I could put negative stars I would put a million+ of them. My father came in with a broken hip at the end of September. I drove from NC to come support him and encourage him. Instead, I sat in that dirty hospital and watched my father die for 18 days. He ended up with c-diff along with every other patient on the third floor. As a nurse I can tell you I watched nurses come inside my dads room, push the trash down (full of dirty gowns/gloves) with his bare hands then walk out and into another room. No hand washing and he didn't take protocol and wear gloves nor gown. Also I watched other nurses come in not gown up nor glove up. The nurses had zero compassion. I got more compassion out of the maintenance man and Jermaine (cna on 3rd floor) than I got out of all my fathers nurses put together. When I would walk out for a bit to go eat or shower I would come by the nurses station to see his nurse texting on her phone. I remember asking "any changes with my dad?" She said not really THEN looked at monitor and say "oh his oxygen has dropped from 95 to 78 maybe we should check that" maybe??? Really?? That is your job to monitor, not to text! These peoples lives are in your hands and you're playing on your phone? I made several complaints to the nurse manager and she said she would talk to the nurses but not while my father was still on the floor...in other words, once your dads dead! Everyone knows one day we will lose our parents but no one ever wishes to sit in a hospital and watch him die because nurses didn't take correct actions and doctors as well. Let's discuss Dr Frantz Louis!!! He was awesome the first day, he was concerned and reassuring. The first day! My father was already malnourished...they kept him doped up on medications that kept him sleeping to "avoid withdrawal symptoms".....he slept and slept. I ask Dr Louis what we can do to get my dad nutrition he told me to continue to try to get him to eat. Well, have you ever tried to get someone sleeping to eat? Again I asked about getting proper nutrition and he said we will start him on TPN. Total parenteral nutrition...fluids with nutrients that my father so badly needed in order to get better and in order to heal. They waited FIVE days to give him this!!! Why????? They hooked it up the day before hospice was called in?!!!! Why didn't they do it when I asked them to??? Maybe my father had a chance? Maybe if he nurses were clean he wouldn't have gotten cdiff???? Then my father got pneumonia....then it was double pneumonia. 20 minutes after discussion of hospice a discharge lady called my cell phone asking where we wanted my father to pass? I said I am still trying to process this?? We just made a decision! Her response was a laugh and said well we aren't going to put him out in the parking lot. Really???? This stuff cannot be made up. This is all something myself and brothers have to live with. Poor poor healthcare. I let Dr Louis know he failed my father. If it were their family members they wouldn't have given up so fast. They wouldn't have waited to get him nutrients. They would've made sure he was cared for and nurses did their job and did it correctly. My father worked hard his entire life! He was a giver and he was given up on. This was so wrong what we had to witness! When my father finally woke a little he said he was in pain.......I wonder how long he had been in pain but couldn't tell anyone because they kept him sedated. When I told the nurse I asked her what he was getting for pain. She told me Tylenol!!! Tylenol for a grown 73 year old man with FOUR breaks in his hip!!??? Disgusting healthcare you hAve provided to my father! How can you sleep at night I will never know because I am having trouble sleeping from your poor work ethic!! I asked Dr Louis why he was only given Tylenol? His response was "I don't know I'll have to check his chart" you don't know??? You've seen him daily for two weeks??? Also after dad was there 5 days they asked if he had any allergies?primary care doctor not informed!!
There you have my experience with this awful hospital.
